Cafe Nunez holds a very special place in my heart. This has been my Aunt Jean and I favorite place to sit and eat after shopping for over 30 years now. Even though she is no longer here with us I still find myself going there and having a meal. The food is amazing and very tasty. Always fresh, and the place is always nice and clean. Staff very pleasant, and I have seen the staff change over the years but they always seem to find nice people to work there. If you're ever in the area I highly recommended stopping in and getting some delicious eats. You will not be disappointed, trust me on this. Bona Petit🙏🏽👍🏾😘💯

Today we were served by Isabella, and the experience was excellent. It’s a shame she only works one day as a server here, but I truly hope to see her every Sunday. Thanks to her attentive and kind service, we had a very pleasant time, and she was the main reason for it. I’ll definitely try to come more often on Sundays just to be attended by Isabella. Great service and excellent food

Fun night out felt like being out in a night lounge. The staff and people there are friendly. You can dance , eat , and smoke hooka while they have a Dj playing good music. The water is pricey though and they kept cleaning my table when I went out to dance or use the bathroom lol . It's a cute area as well to take lots of photos and its very busy as well. I just have to come here during the day time to tey out the buffet.

Amelia is hands down one of the best bartenders I’ve ever had! From the moment I sat down, she was warm, attentive, and made me feel welcome. She has such a great energy, friendly, professional, and super quick with service, even when the bar was. She mixed everything perfectly! You can tell she really cares about her customers having a good time. Amelia made the whole experience at Café Nuñez that much better. I’ll definitely be coming back because of her!

E

Eric here with The Pump Guys. While out responding to plumbing and pump emergency calls, Café Nuñez is our go-to spot for lunch. The Latin and Spanish dishes are authentic, flavorful, and some of the best you can get in the city. Fast service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere make it the perfect stop during a busy day. Highly recommend!

Dropped by this place randomly while walking through Midtown after a long shift and I'm glad I did! Cafe Nunez checked all the boxes for a great night solo and with a group as well. Great ambiance, drinks, food, and staff! Amelia was my bartender and she's amazing! She was down to talk about anything, was very attentive, and makes the meanest margarita EVER. As far as the establishment goes, they have a great happy hour. Possibly one of the best in the area. I ordered the Nunez Burger and it was top notch! It was cooked exactly to my request, portioned well, and most importantly; delicious! I would have never thought adding plantain would elevate the burger to the degree that it did. I dropped in on a Monday and that just happened to be when they host karaoke night which involves local musicians playing songs to sing-along/dance to. They had a musician named Ricky Whisky playing and he was great! He played a variety of songs including bachata, pop, and R&B (think Ne-Yo). They also have other specials throughout the week such as Taco Tuesday that I would like to check out as I'd love to try the rest of the food offerings. Safe to say that I'm glad I decided to drop by Cafe Nunez. The food, drinks, ambiance, and service are amazing and I plan on dropping by again!

If you’re looking for a spot that has everything — vibes, food, hookah, drinks, and top-tier service — Cafe Nunez is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone. The lighting, the music, the energy — it’s the perfect mix of classy and lively. Whether you’re going for a chill night out or celebrating something special, the atmosphere just hits right. Let’s talk about the food. The quesadilla? Absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and easily one of the best I’ve had. Everything came out fresh and delicious. Pair that with their drinks — beautifully made, strong but smooth, and presented perfectly — and you’re in for a great night. The hookah was on point too. Smooth pull, great flavor options, and long-lasting. You can tell they take pride in making sure it’s done right. But what truly makes Cafe Nunez stand out is the service. The coat check lady is incredibly welcoming and sweet — she sets the tone before you even sit down. Bianny provided amazing service, attentive without being overwhelming and genuinely kind. Karla and Nathalia were fantastic servers — friendly, professional, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the night. Overall, 10/10 experience. Great food, great hookah, great drinks, and even better people. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

This Latin restaurant was a great time on a Friday!! From the customer service to the dancing and food and drinks, I’m ready to go back. The front is for regular more intimate dining, the back is more of a livelier and party atmosphere which is where we were at. Grilled skirt steak over Caribbean taro medley and vegetables w/ Argentine chimichurri (Churrasco a la parilla sobre yuca frita y hortaliza con chimichurri bariloche) •Chicken chunk breast with roasted garlic and white wine sauce (Pechuga de pollo con ajos asados en salsa de azafran y vino blanco •Mexican guacamole in molcajete served with chips •Tex-Mexican quesadilla with guacamole and pico de gallo 🍹 Gin Zen Elixir Tanqueray Gin, Intense ginger liqueur, lychee, citric, butterfly tea syrup •Caribbean Elegance Remy Martin 1738, Brugal Anejo, Chocloate & Orange bitters, Banana oleo •Gran Margarita Frozen Margarita with a Grand Marnier float •Tres Leches The appetizers were great. The guacamole came with a lot of chips. The chicken quesadilla was so delicious and flavorful. The portions are pretty big. The chicken breast entree was juicy and flavorful. The steak was juicy and tender and the yuca was fried so perfectly my friend and I couldn’t stop eating them and raving about it. We were told it was freshly fried. The Tres Leches was good but we were too stuffed. We had multiple rounds of drinks about 3 or 4 I lost count. They were all good. The frozen margarita was a little weak , I think due to it being semi melted but the grand marnier topped it off. They have live Salsa on Tuesdays, Bottomless Brunch in Sundays and weekly happy hour. I definitely need to come try the brunch here as well. Follow me on Instagram @eatingwithetienne

If you’re looking for an amazing night out in NYC, Cafe Nunez is the spot. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is on point — great music, chill atmosphere, and the perfect setting whether you’re out with friends or on a date. The churrasco was absolutely fire 🔥 — cooked perfectly, juicy, flavorful, and seasoned just right. You can tell they don’t cut corners with the quality. Every bite hit. The hookah was smooth and lasted a long time, with great flavor options and consistent smoke the whole night. Definitely one of the better hookah experiences I’ve had. And shoutout to our waiter Isabella — she was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything came out on time. She checked on us without being overbearing and really added to the overall experience. Between the food, hookah, drinks, and service, Cafe Nunez delivered a full 5-star experience. I’ll definitely be back. 💯

A wonderful little restaurant / café. One of my favorite places during my time in Manhattan: - Excellent, authentic food from the Dominican Republic (Latin American). - Large portions, and a great variety of meals at a good price. You are sure not to go home hungry. (You might even be fine ordering 1 meal for 2 people.) - Friendly warm atmosphere with very personable and attentive service. - Excellent, unique and authentic Dominican cocktails I have never had anywhere before. (Happy hour on Margaritas during week; call them for the exact time) - On Monday evenings a fun little Karaoke with a friendly welcoming audience. (Can be a bit noisy then; call them for the exact time) - You easily find a good table without reservations during the week at any time. - Easy to reach from Times Square area, also on foot. If you are looking for a special location for going out in Manhattan, this is your place to go. It certainly deserves more visitors. Go there!

The food was good and the service was fast. I’ve been there on the weekends , and it’s always a fun time! The DJ plays great music, and the vibe is on point. One thing to note, I wish the bartenders or servers would mention that an 18% gratuity is already included. I ended up tipping an extra 20% in cash without realizing it. Other than that, it’s a great spot whether you’re looking to dance or just enjoy a nice dinner.

Cafe Nunez is an extremely lively and energetic spot that is a good time, no matter the day or time! With lively and upbeat music being played at all times, good food and drinks, you will never be disappointed. They have an amazing bottomless brunch offer for $42.95, which gives you a 3-course meal and 90 mins of unlimited mimosas, sangrias, and frosés.

M
Miramar Lee Choy

The lunch specials can be a hit or miss because of the quality and quantity of my food. While the flavor of the beans, pork, side carrot salad and plantains were all very good, the quality certainly is better elsewhere. My serving of roasted pork was full of a rubbery skin and fatty parts. The quantity didn’t fill up the portioned container, the beans were so few. And the white rice wasn’t fluffy or tender. Chicken tacos: Delicious. Filled with shredded chicken. Four sauces and lime wedges. Dominican Stew Pork: Good. Stew portion feels tiny compared to the rice ratio for these portioned take out containers.

Enmanuel Salvador Burgos

If you are seeking to sample Dominican cuisine, this establishment is an excellent option. They provide a buffet-style dining experience, allowing you to partake in a substantial meal. The service provided was exceptionally amiable and inviting. I wholeheartedly endorse this establishment. GABRIELA, my server, was extraordinarily accommodating and attentive to my needs.

Place is moderate in size, don't like the mandatory coat check fee and rigid entrance staff. Some drinks are better than others, didn't have any food. Music was good. Uncertain if I'll return for a meal.

S

It was an after work lounge experience and I love it ! There is different happy hour based on the day of the week. The tacos were absolutely delicious! The morir sońando drink was a hit. $25 beer buckets and music was on point. I enjoyed my experience here. Hookah available and waitress's friendly and attentive. Will go back !

A
Andrew Davila

Pro: the atmosphere is really nice, lights are on point, temperature was cool, good music mixed between Spanish and English, music level good, I was able to still talk at the table, food was really good as well and their hookah last long and hitting nicely. Also they make sure your table stays clean, big plus. Con: the food portions are not that big, kind of small and wish this place was bigger. Drinks are usually 15 and up but their buckets for 25 somewhat make up for drinks that are on the pricey side.

A

Went for a quick lunch. You can either do "All you can eat" or a set price for one pound. There's a lot to choose from. If you know Dominican and Puerto Rican dishes, you'll feel familiar with the buffet offerings here. You have white rice, yellow rice, beans, oven roasted chicken, fried chicken cracklings, stew pork, fried green and yellow plantains (tostones and maduros). There's potato salad, green salad, avocado salad, lasagna. So many things to choose from. The line was long but moved so fast you don't feel like you are standing there for long. It's informal and friendly. There is a bar area but I didn't have any thing to drink. They had some old-school merengue music playing. There's a lot of seating. I'd definitely go back here for lunch. It's affordable and good portions for the price and the location.

So this was interesting I haven't gone to a place this small where you have to do a coat check for $5. Its has hookah, food, a bar and dancing. There was a charge for coat check if you wanted a table you needed to by a bottle and hookah it was 150.00, and we got food as well so be warned. Not my type of vibe so won't be back.

Can't complain about the AYCE buffet price for the area. The food was plenty and varies, loved that they and watermelon available. Clean place, friendly waitresses. Only conplaint is that everything too salty and dry. Only stewed dishes are still tender, beef leathery & way overcooked.

I had a blast during Tuesday night Happy hour for my birthday! They had a great deal for a premium flight of shots for $25 and the food was delicious. Our server Cindy was attentive and friendly. 4 stars for the food because one of the hot plates for our table came cold and undercooked so it had to be sent back. The music was great to dance to but not too loud where we were sitting so we could still talk. The decorations were festive and tasteful!

The food was pretty good (I say as a Dominican) and the atmosphere was nice. There's an area in the front for regular dining and in the back with music and lights for a different vibe. My one drawback was their lack of follow through with their Monday special. They state in their flyer that on Mondays, 5-8pm, they have 50% off food and $7 house drinks. While my drink was $7 (originally $15), there was no discount applied to my order. I would ask about the deal before sitting down if you want to try this place for their "specials".

I had a "Sancocho" delivered and and they did not even put in the slice of lemon. It's literally a piece of pork chop and corn . Nothing else . So haphazard. Paying 18 for a small soup it already a lot . Get it together, please. We pay too much money for this!

Ayce buffet food option was good although limited to 2 types of fish dishes as a pescaterian however there was no dessert that should be included with the ayce buffet like other buffets and no one not even the waiters in that crowded place told me something was on my face until I saw it in bathroom . Music was much too constantly loud . And they automatically added tips to bill which makes no sense . Besides the basic level of yumminess food I tried there , I wish I hadn’t stopped by there .

This bar feels like a slice of Washington Heights/Inwood in the heart of Midtown. If you’re sitting in the back, you’ll need to check your jacket at the front for a $5 fee—not ideal, but the security staff is friendly. While waiting for my friend to tell me where he was sitting, I stepped aside to let other customers pass. One of the staff thought I was trying to dodge the coat check fee and jumped in front of me—that cracked me up. They offer a wide selection of hookah, a great variety of Dominican/Latin food, and enough booze to incapacitate a small country—but it’s definitely on the pricey side. If you’re sensitive to loud music, be warned—it can be overwhelming. On the bright side, if you’ve ever considered a meditation retreat to silence your mind, you can save money by coming here—the music is so loud you won’t be able to hear yourself think.

Came here on a pulsd. Made my reservation two days prior to my arrival and mentioned my pulsd as the instructions stated I needed to. Well when we were sat, the server told us immediately after me letting her know I have a pulsd that they are no longer working with pulsd. It eventually got sorted out but they were not going to honor it. I had to ask for a manager. Other than that, service was slow. The bus boy/bar back was way more attentive to my table than the server. Service was not consistent. I watched our server treat other tables with more kindness and attention. I’m assuming it’s because I had a pulsd. We got the brunch so we should’ve had the drinks rolling in for 90 mins but they kept taking their time while our glasses sat empty. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price because it wouldn’t have been worth it at all for that service. Our meals were fresh and good for the most part outside of my dry half chicken. The sauce helped with that though. Also, they forgot my friends fruit salad with her breakfast. Over vibe of the place itself and other staff members outside of our server were great!!

It's a Dominican bar restaurant that has that flavor of similar restaurants you can find uptown, in the Bronx and in parts of Brooklyn, except here it is right in midtown Manhattan! I went there twice this summer, primarily as a meeting place with friends before we head over to the AMC theaters on 34th and 8th avenue for movies. Since I had no choice but to wait, I had to also wait for the bartender to finally attend to me and get me a drink... It took ridiculously long, too long. Both times I was there. That's got to be improved. Outside of that place is nice looking, there's a back area which serves as a dance floor as it gets later and that bachata and the merengue comes on! I've had fun at this place in the past years when I was drinking. That comes back to me in flashes!! But the two visits this year were basically daylight visits before the party times... Still fun. The worst thing is the bartender service at the bar. That's about it. I can't recommend the food as I barely really ate anything ordered plate of nachos which were just okay.

Hostess was aware we were here to eat and got us seated asap to place our orders before the kitchen closed! But $5 mandatory coat check, when dining in and my coat can go on my chair? Absurd. Food is beyond mid and under cooked. Cheese not melted, meat not apparent. Though, the server was kind and attentive so that’s something. Dance floor looked like fun if you’re prioritizing night life vibes.

Food was super salty, service was when the waitress was available, great atmosphere!!! They forced my friend to check in her coat for $5 which there were tables with coats not checked like mines!!! Not recommended!!

I was here this past weekend for brunch with my girls celebrating my bachelorette. I found this place online it looked like a good time. When I got there, there was pretty much no one because of the storm alert going on. I was surprised there was no music playing, and the ac was on blast when it was freezing outside. Not even an hour in, the server told us that we had the table for 3 hours only and that they had another reservation so we would have to keep consuming alcohol if we wanted to stay. We felt taken back a little because we were the only people in the establishment, probably because of the storm. No one ever came until we left past the 3 hours. My party started leaving and one of the workers approached us to give my 2 friends and I a hookah on the house. Which I don’t understand why he didn’t offer that sooner when my party was still there and I had already purchased 2 hookahs. Towards the end hours later a group shows up and the server after I even left her a good tip despite the way they treated us gave my friend an attitude and sort of kicked us out. There were so many empty tables still. Food was not worth it. Over all I won’t be coming back, customer service needs improvement

The music is good at this place but that is as far as it goes ordered a very basic plate white rice beans and chicken and the rice was hard as if it were the bottom of the pot rice, the beans were dry and tasteless and the chicken tasted burned. Very over priced for food that taste as it were sitting out all day. SMH then also have a mandatory coat check. One and done.

2 stars and I am being nice, I ALWAYS give a place 2 to 3 tries before rating it. This buffet style place sadly would not be having me for lunch. Let's start: ENVIROMENT: dingy and depressing. You need more lights. Service is about average, when u arrive at the cashier they don't say hello, or at least SMILE. today the cashier seemed to be more interested in talking with her coworkers than offering a friendly service. It gets very loud there and it's not because they are busy, employees seem to forget they have customer eating here and talk among each other really loud. Music is LATIN all day I think, which goes with the name of the place, no problem there ☺. FOOD: Dominican food is DELICIOUS! Unfortunately in this place kind of takes that away, some of the stuff in there looks like its been sitting for a while, it's salty, very oily and lack of...should I say "rhythm"? mostly salty, it would change your mind about D.R. food. I LOVE string beans, this place offers too garlicky string beans. Don't get me wrong I love garlic, but there is a measurement as to how much is "too much," if anything they were nicely steamed...but again too oily. DECOR: goes with how the place serves and feels...sad. PRICE: I have attached a picture of what I got, had some cooked cassava which was acceptable, green olives which were as they should be, okra on some red sauce(salty), some pork meat (very salty), and white rice (this was good). All for $10+ I understand the price, since we are midtown, but I am sorry it really is not worth it. I was hungry both times, and I always give the benefit of a doubt, but today it proves that it is not that tasty. I won't recommend it, even the bar looks darker...then again I don't know how it gets here in the night, maybe it's a cool place to be here, maybe food is not their thing. Bit confused now...also some of the reviews that say the food is "great" hahahahaha REALLY??? I would recommend SUBWAYS.

Food is delicious but overpriced, even for Manhattan. The service was okay but they double charge the tip, so pay attention to your bill when you receive it. The music was too loud and I hated the smell of hookah.

My friends and I didn’t know about any Latino spots in NY, so someone recommended this place and we went to watch the Super Bowl. Even though we had already ordered food, drinks, and spent around $100, an older woman in tight jeans kept bothering the waitress, pointing at our table and pressuring her to push us to order more. I understand businesses want customers to keep ordering — we were actually planning to — but if I’m paying for service, I should have the right to decide how quickly I consume. They eventually made us give up our table to seat other people. By that point it was too late to go somewhere else, so we stayed, ordered more drinks, and tried not to let it ruin our night. The woman in jeans kept staring at us every time she walked by — honestly, it felt uncomfortable. After spending over $200 total, we decided to leave and not give them any more of our money. Overall: poor treatment from the staff, bland food, and for those prices I’d rather go to a rooftop or somewhere that actually feels worth it. The only highlight was the DJ 🤔

The worst place I’ve been in NYC. Me and my friends chose this bar at the evening because it seemed like there was good music but just when we arrived, we were obligated to pay to keep our coats with them, even that was a very cold night. They told us that was mandatory and then when we got in, a lot of people were with coats. It doesn’t seemed to be mandatory at all. After that, all staff were very rude with us, including security and we were obligated again to pay for tips when we ordered for a beer, even with our arguments. We spent a lot of money for an awful night that lasted like 15 minutes. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Wheelchair accessible but NOT handicap friendly!!! I called in advance to make sure my friend could come into this place with us. He is paraplegic and in a chair. When arriving the host told us we could not go into the lounge area and could only be seated in the front due to them “not allowing anymore people in the back” we had walked a while and were hungry for Spanish food, so we decided to just sit in the front. The staff made it incredibly awkward and uninviting for us. While we sat we watched multiple people come in and go to the lounge area. The food was decent. We would have stayed longer if we weren’t discriminated.

They force you to do coatcheck because they charge $5 without that they don’t allow you to walk in, they don’t allow you to put 2 coats in the same hanger because they want the $5 for each coat and they don’t take cash as payment, only card for the coatcheck. I don’t know if that’s legal but that’s what they do. Staffs at the reception and coatcheck definitely not prepared to work in the hospitality industry very different from the staffs at the restrooms that are very nice and friendly. Ambiance was alright, margaritas pitcher taste like juice and syrup. Not a good experience starting from the front door.

Be aware when you buy your drinks, they can overcharge you and tip was included when I went. Also a waitress wanted to take away the hookah I had paid for, thinking it was someone else’s, even after it was at our table and paid for! And if you take your husband, keep an eye out, the waitresses will flirt. Security is great and Ricky, the manager, is very good. But I wouldn’t recommend.

I haven’t been to a restaurant this bad in a long time. Walked in on a random Thursday for HAPPY HOUR and they charged my boyfriend $5 to coat-check a jacket, patted him down at 6pm… like it’s a nightclub. Meanwhile everyone else had their giant North Face jackets on their chairs. My friend warned me the food sucked, and she was right. The mofongo special came out cold, small, and flavorless. Drinks were whatever, not the best or worst. Then the server never brought water, so I asked for tap. She comes back with two glass bottles of TAP WATER, and of course, the check had a $10 charge for it. The second bottle was for the two others on the table. When I called her out, she tried arguing and making excuses saying this is the only way they serve water here?! I told her if they are charging $10 for tap water that needs to be communicated with everyone. The manager came, apologized for the "miscommunication", and removed it. OH and they automatically add 18% gratuity for this crap. This place has potential, but the whole experience was trash from start to finish. Don't waste your time or money here.

I don't recommend this place. I came with my family to try the buffet, and when we arrived, they said it wasn't available. So we ordered the unlimited churrasco. The churrasco was chewy and bad. The service was terrible; they take forever to serve you, and on top of that, the bill for four people came to $253.00. When we complained, they brought us another bill for $175, not including the 18% "gratitude" for the bad service. If you come here, check the bill carefully.

It got delivered, so I can't speak to the atmosphere, but wow, was the food bad! The chicken was super dry, the breading was terrible, and the rice was hard; it seemed to be old. Really bad, go anywhere else.

Horrible ! This place is a straight-up Times Square TOURIST TRAP . Do your homework before coming here. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 We arrived around midnight with a group of six and were told the only way in was to buy a bottle. The bottle was $200. It was Tito’s. A $35 liquor store bottle suddenly became premium . Inside, things didn’t improve. Service was sloppy and unorganized. They wiped down a regular restaurant table and called it our section. Not enough cups, no real setup, no flow. It felt rushed and careless, like this was all standard operating procedure. The waitress are confused and arent really professional at all. Just Dominicans girls with BBLs wearing bathing suits. Yes, they play music. That’s the only plus. But this is Manhattan. Plenty of places play good music without forcing bottle service or making you feel like a walking invoice. It’s overpriced because it’s on 34th Street and rent is high. That’s the value proposition. As a New Yorker of over ten years, I wouldn’t spend my own money here. There are way better options uptown and downtown. Our company hosted an event here, which is the only reason I went. If I were paying, absolutely not. Posting this so others don’t feel like they got got.

Tell your manager don't touch people if he wants to tell something to someone especially WOMEN!!! My friends and I are professional dancers, we were dancing there a little like 15-20 might nothing special, just trying to relax. Food was late, no tap water, they charged $5 to keep the jacket lmao, and the waitress brought a different dish and we were waiting for the plate with Nachos an hour! There were lots of free tables! Respect to DJ! People around us were really nice and enjoyed our dancing! DON'T TOUCH STRANGERS!!! BE POLITE WITH PEOPLE!!! TALK NICELY!!!

On a recent occasion, I encountered an issue with my lunch special order. While I have previously received satisfactory meals, today’s order included an excessive amount of rice and a moderate quantity of steak, accompanied by approximately ten beans. Upon contacting the store and explaining the situation, I attempted to inquire about the reason for this deviation from my usual order. However, I was informed that I needed to bring the meal to the store for inspection. The store is situated at 35th Avenue between 7th and 8th Avenues, approximately 27 minutes from my workplace. Regrettably, the manager did not respond to my phone call or attempt to engage in a conversation. This incident serves as a concerning representation of the store’s overall quality and service standards.
