Outdoor patio is beautiful, good atmosphere and service, but the food was the real star. Full of flavor.

Went for cocktail after an event and was delighted beyond words. The barkeep was friendly, attentive, skilful and a serene vibe altogether. Other bar guy was thoughtful, helpful, intuitive and also quite personable. 5 stars, will come back for sure.

5 star rating without eating??? Well, we weren't hungry!!! But,,,,,, the only reason I'm giving a 5 star is because of the bartender named Tim. Zocalo is not our normal drink spot at all, but it will be now. Tim was great. An actual bartender with personality, humor, and enjoys what he does. The 4 of us had a great time 830 at night on a Friday!!! Blackberry margaritas!!! Pretty damn good!!!

Everything was good. Nice decor and pleasant service Though the portions were huge and I severely over ordered. I got the burrito, nachos and ceviche. The ceviche was not great but still did not diminish from the broader experience. You are encouraged to order online while dining in. While this speeds up service, it is also somewhat unusual. Went with my family. Everyone wants to go again.

I have 4 kids, we do lots of sports and food after. So we try many places all over the area, this place is BAR NONE the best on every lvl!! I have never in my life had such a good fish taco, I tried some of each one of our plates and it was all beyond delicious!!! I can’t recommend this place enuf, class act all the way around.

Very cool looking building. We decided to do side patio dining which was surrounded by bushes so it's a little more private from the parking lot and street. Since you order the phone from phone menu, no need to wait on a server and food comes out very quickly. We did the mix Taco and mix enchilada plate and everything was excellent. Will be back soon

I didn't expect Zócalo to have some authentic options, and yet, very delicious! From my experience, Mole is a hit or miss dish, and it definitely wasn't a miss here. Also, their ceviche tasted pretty fresh, a great option for the pescatarian crowd.

The place is beautiful and my food was excellent. Guacamole and chip dips were soooo good. I wish I had more hands so I could give four thumbs up. Wait-staff was a little pushy rushing us to order, but I suppose it's better than wondering where the waiter is, but still...a little less than good. There was lovely music and it wasn't too loud, it was perfect volume for a good vibe and still having good conversation. Went here for a work thing but it's a good spot for a date or group hang. Looking forward to going back.

From start to finish Zocalo delivered. We sat outside and between the music, the beautiful plants, and lighting…we felt like we were in a Mexican villa. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. We will be back!

A seemingly neverending supply of chips and salsa mixed with good drinks (loved my blackberry margarita) and good food. Online table ordering was somehow both confusing and convenient.

Excellent food, Courtney and Carlos where fantastic and took phenomenal care of our group. They were really kind and boxed up all the left overs for us! And the black berry Marg was amazing. The whiskey sour not so much.

Highly recommended! I've been to other zocalos locations but this one is my favorite. The restaurant is beautiful and they expanded their outdoor area. In terms of folsom dining, they have the best cocktails (especially if you like something tequila based). The #1 highlight of this location are the staff. They have some great people here who elevate the experience. If you are at the bar, Ally is a star. If you are getting a table, Jaime and Carlos give top tier service. 10/10 recommend.

Great room for private parties. They don't have a minimum dollar amount and don't force a gratuity on large parties. But the service is so great that you want to tip a high amount voluntarily, which is the way it should be. Alexa was our waitress and she was the best! Prices are on the higher side, but they have a great happy hour menu that lasts a long time even on weekends. And the higher prices are justified with the service and beautiful atmosphere. Even the beans and rice are great here, very flavorful. A lot of other places just phone it in on these sides, but not here.

Tasty, awesome ordering experience via online, no waiting for a server to drop by, and huge portions. The salsa here is excellent. We ordered a blackberry margarita, a seasonal mandarin gin cocktail, a burrito bowl and an asada burrito, all of which were excellent. The portions are such that you can easily split a single burrito.

I loved it! It is hard to find good authentic Mexican food but Zocalo got a A+. It is a little pricey but amazing food and drinks. Service also was wonderful. Clean restaurant and beautiful decor.

Let's start by saying this is an upscale Mexican restaurant. No canned ingredients, it's so fresh & creative even many places in Mexico could never be this good! The service is top notch. Once you are seated they bring you fresh chips, salsa & bean dip along with water. Intuitive service! All food here is mind blowing. Yes I have had bad experiences here, but they were quickly and politely corrected. Drinks here are another two thumbs up! Yes, margaritas of course. But old fashioneds are great..and any other liquor. Ambiance is great, can't wait for the new patio later this May.

It is always enjoyable at Zocalo. I usually have the burrito but decided to have the camarone tacos, good choice. The table also had the tacos Americana, very good as well. Considering COVID restrictions service was good and we all felt safe. A good time for sure.

Fact that this place isn't a 5 ⭐ establishment makes me give up faith on humanity. Been here several times and service is never NOT exceptional. Jaime served us today and has to get the credit because everyone else that was fabulous in prior visits I'd forgotten the names of. Highly recommend as it's the best Mexican I've found since leaving Austin TX. Thank y'all for being majestic each and every time.

The food was fantastic! But the service was impeccable! You made my sons night! Thank you to Kevin, Carlos, Kendyl and Becky who were right there when we needed anything. As a single parent of a 5 year old I appreciate the interest they took in my son and his experience.

I have been to this location a few times, for a graduation and my own birthday party. 1. The customer service is really nice! For my last visit, after we finished eating, one of the employees brought some ice cream with churro to sing happy birthday (and had some little sparklers too!). They are friendly and overall there is a nice atmosphere. 2. The ambience is really nice. The lighting is a little dim and perfect to take cute pics if you are dressed up :) 3. The food itself is not bad. My go-to at Zocalo (including other locations) is usually the green enchiladas, but I ask for the veggie option. It's good there is a sub option for vegetarians (something I am always looking for!) The last time, I had gotten a fruity drink (I forgot the name, a waitress had recommended it to me) that tasted really nice. 4. I personally feel like it's just ever so slightly overpriced, but is still worth it for a nice occasion. 5. Overall, would definitely recommend! :)

This is the second time I’ve been there. I had the Baja fish tacos again and they were AMAZING. My man got the enchilada trio. Our server, Joyce, was an absolute pleasure and gave excellent service. Very nice ambiance and excellent service and food. They have a great Cadillac Margarita:) I also highly recommend their guacamole.

High end Mexican eats. They no longer are forcing the order-by-app menu, which is a plus in my opinion. So far, haven't been disappointed with the enchiladas, mole, burritos, or taco salad. Salsa and bean dip are good as well

They were super fast but not over the top. They were kind and super accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant location and to especially have Anna/Nate as your waitress and waiter. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the place. I've never had a bad meal here. I must admit that I haven't tried too many items on the menu, because the fish tacos are crazy good. It can get a bit noisey because the place is alway packed. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

Charming restaurant with lots of character on the interior decor. Excellent service (the best I have had in a while) between the hostess, server and manager we felt very welcomed as first time guests. The food was fresh and unique. I enjoyed the 3 taco plate. Baja fish, shrimp, beef/steak wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t bad! The plates were pricey but the chips and salsa were free and they were generous. Overall tab was on par for our family of 4. The kid menu was great too - good options for little ones. We were recommended here from a local and really enjoyed it. We will come again when in the area!

Our server Ana was absolutely amazing — so attentive and on top of everything! I do not give 5 stars lightly. The service staff and chef's are in it to win it! Our food, service and dining experience was beyond expectations. I have not been to the Sacramento midtown location in years and was very happy to see them come to Folsom. The decor and design is elegant, clean and flowing. It's very refreshing and open. The food... flavor is unique to each preparation unlike the typical one note food of the same ole Mexican restaurant. The chef's prepare the food with passion and flair for giving the customer the best experience they can. We will be back and the staff will become friends but thats just who we are. As a food writer & photographer I have met and become friends with the best that dining has to offer. These folks are right up there! Update: Another great dining experience. 3/16/25 delicious and the same great service.

I haven’t even received the main course and already I am impressed with the atmosphere and service. Even the busboy stopped to ask us if we wanted more chips, beans, and salsa. As first timers the manager brought us a dish to try the delicious flavors. Definitely a great experience.

Very good. There’s just so many small things that make a 5 unachievable for this place—the choices of dressing on the salads, the feeling of inconvenience for the wait staff to accommodate simple requests like splitting checks, the speed at which small details are left out. It feels mechanical and thus, not hospitable. If they made many small improvements including going above and beyond to make sure patrons were accommodated as well as simplified some of the recipes, it could achieve five stars.

Stopped in for a drink (strong margarita) while I waited for a tire appointment. Great experience. Great decor. Drinks and snacks are top notch. Salsa could be much hotter though. Good stuff.

Pleasant restaurant with good selection of adult beverages. Server was attentive, frequently checking on refills but not overbearing, as can be seen in other establishments.

They are doing a lot of things right. My Taco Tuesday take-out order was prepared and package well. Just need to remember to order extra tortillas next time.

The decor is GORGEOUS, excellent atmosphere and staff. The food is a little bland/unsalted. For the price I could go get little Mexican restaurant food which would be more delicious and half the price.

Were out of towners/apple hill roadies, checking out the local cuisine, so unfamiliar with the local fare. We were seated near the bar. While a little louder; the bar was architecturally beautiful! In fact the whole interior was a total vibe. The food overall was very tasty. My Chile Verde was great. I chose the mixed house tortillas, which I didn't care for (suggest sticking with corn or/and flour). That given, the pork was succulent and tasteful. My hubby ordered tacos which were a combo of soft & hard shell, which he said were on point as well. I think it's worth a try to find your jam & pour. Didn't notice specials, but would upon return. The staff & mgmt were very attentive. In fact, mgmt sent over tasty tostadas welcoming us to the restaurant. The mgr actually checked back with us a couple of times, and sent over a bday dessert (hubby's) at the end of meal (which was delish!). Overall, worth a deep order try and chance to experience the attentive service. Again. Tlthe restaurant's decor was a nice surprise.

Zocalo is an eye appealing gorgeous interior designed restaurant giving off an upscale resort vibe serving up modern contemporary Mexican cuisine. The customer service is top notch. The food is tasty. Pricing is not outrageous. The place has loads of ambiance appropriate for a family gathering with kids in tow or intimate date night. From the subtropical landscaped plantings, to the building's architecture and interior design look of pre Columbian meets modern Iberian vibe equals absolute gorgeousness. They have a bar, interior dining room, and outdoor patio. The food's plate presentation is picture perfect. The flavors are simple, fresh, and basic. One of my faves is the ground beef tostada salad. Seasoned ground beef served on a fresh tostada shell topped with basic, clean salad fixings. $16. They also offer complimentary chips, bean dip, and salsa with your meal. And they ain't stingy with 'em, they offer to provide refills.

Zócalo has a nice atmosphere and friendly service, but the menu could use more variety. I was surprised to see they only offer one burrito bowl, so I had to request a customized one. While the server was kind enough to accommodate my request, it would be better if they added more options. The food was good, but I felt it was a bit overpriced for what you get. Overall, it was a decent experience, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Tried the place for first time, got a wet burrito. Flavor/taste was a big miss. The burrito was filled with a spicy rice concoction and meat. Really couldn't identify anything else inside the burrito other than the spicy rice and meat. Did I mention the rice was spicy?? Kind of wrecked the flavor. The burrito was covered in a red sauce that was also somewhat spicy. Huge portion, nothing else redeeming. Staff and atmosphere were good.

Nice fancy decor, and very busy on a Mon night due to the Bernie/OCA rally nearby. Ordered my favorite dish of Chile Relleno, but proved disappointing. On the plus side, it had meat (pork), unlike most in California (eastern U.S. has ground beef). But the chile was crunchy not soft, and tasted more like a Bell Pepper than say a Hatch Valley Pablano Chile. Also didn't have much cheese stuffing. Perhaps they cook differently, just in fry oil and/or didn't cook long enough. Wifey shared one of her soft tacos, which was fairly bland. We had to stop eating several minutes since ran dry on water and had to try several times to flag a server for refills.

My tacos were so wet & soggy - that I couldn’t hold them together to eat. They weren’t very tasty either. Had the Camarones, Carnitas & Baja fish. Never again!

Love the food, perfect portions of delicious and bold flavored food. Variety of chicken, seafood, and pork dishes meant everyone got what they wanted. Staff was not helpful after order was taken, asked multiple times and different staff member for water refills and additional utensils. Avoid this place durring shift change 4:30- 6ish. You'll be ignored while staff stands around and watches.

Just a heads up for those with nut allergy. We asked about the Mole sauce having nuts and was told no it doesn’t contain nuts, however my son had an allergic reaction after consuming 1 of 3 enchiladas with mole sauce. Food and service is great just be aware if you have food allergies.

We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant was tastefully decorated. We were welcomed warmly, though some concerns with the service started there. Our server appeared bored that we needed time to review the menu to select drinks (this was our first visit and we didn’t know the menu by heart), perhaps that was some foreshadowing of what was to come. We ordered margaritas and entrees. The food was served within 5 minutes! The drinks took considerable time and they were served almost as we completed our meal. Though the food was good, with a sizable menu that offered many choices, the whole dining experience felt rushed and considering the restaurant was about 1/3 empty as we left, it’s not clear why this restaurant wants to rush its guests so quickly out the door. Perhaps this would be a better lunch option with the get in/get out program?

My friends and I decided to have dinner at Zocalo Folsom not looking at the closing time 9pm Wednesday night. We arrived at 8:45pm. My friends are very successful restaurateurs in the Folsom California area and they understand about closing times and staffing. Surprisingly!! the restaurant made exceptions and they stayed open for the three of us which was greatly appreciated, since it was already extremely long day for us. This was a Epic customer service and very accommodating. My "ratings" this service would be a 5 star plus rating. Our server Justin was great and very knowledgeable/helpful with the menu. Great presentation 👏. The first staff served us with glasses of water and a decanter full of water. Then they gave us paper napkins and silverware at the corner of the table. One restaurant helper put one set of utensils wrapped in a nicely cloth napkin. There are three of us dining. The margaritas seems to be weak but tasty. The guacamole didn't taste like avocado and it seemed like it was store bought. We ordered beer battered fish tacos plates which also came with black beans and rice. The fish was extremely tasty but the rice and beans lack taste which we needed to add their table salsa for the chips to make the rice/beans taste better. One of my friends ordered a flank steak dish. The presentation and seasoning was below 3 stars and tough and raw. Literally! This is unheard of for a 5 star restaurant. The restaurant removed the dish from the bill which was a good service to the customer. The restaurants decor/ambiance and was very nice. The outside building/lighting is perfectly designed. GREAT DESIGN!👏 Unfortunately! The census says we will not return to this restaurant because the quality of the food doesn't match the pricey menu.

The ambiance of Zocala Mexican Restaurant is amazing; it's inviting with great music and some intimacy created by the low lighting. Upon arriving, the staff was welcoming and promptly sat us. When we sat down, chips and salsa were brought with waters. However, our waiter seemed absent-minded and inattentive, often looking elsewhere and being short with us when we had questions about the menu, as this was our first time here. He seemed to be in a rush, although the restaurant was about half full, which was surprising given the slow night during the holiday weekend. Throughout our wait for the food, the waiter did not check back with us for refills or additional salsa and chips. The pint-sized bowls for the salsa were laughable compared to the large bowl of chips provided. When our food arrived, the dishes looked full of color and appealing. Sadly, upon biting into my crispy chicken tacos, the meat was cold and unpleasant to eat. My husband's enchiladas were drenched in sauce to the point that they were soggy, as if they had been sitting for a while before being served. I sent my food back after a couple of bites and requested fresh, hot protein as it was cold. The waiter who took my food was nice about it, but when he brought it back to the kitchen, our table was pointed out, and the chef seemed visibly bothered. The second attempt at my food was warm and met my expectations, but it had toppings I had asked to be removed, likely because the chef didn't take notice of those alterations due to being upset. Overall, we give this restaurant a 3/10. Despite the promising ambiance, the service and food quality left much to be desired. Attention to detail and customer care need significant improvement.

Food was so, so...El Tapito and Felipes much better!! Wait was long...and worst of all little margarita $13.50!!! Such a rip off!!! Even that was so, so. And a so called salad was a few pieces of lettuce with, I guess olive oil. Very bland, as you can see. Tacos were filled with beans, barely any meat!! We will NEVER return!! We all have so many choices in and around Sacramento, for good eatings!! Zocalo is all hype!!!! Plus most of restaurant was closed for a "special event", so very limited seating! Went here for my fiancés birthday dinner. The rice on my enchilada plate was barely cooked and I was unable to eat it. The service was so so and it wasn’t even a busy night. We arrived around 7 and there were only about 5 tables filled, with a bunch of staff working. They completely forgot to do the Happy Birthday song for us, even after assuring us it would be done. I usually really like Zocolo, but I will definitely not be returning to the Folsom location. This is the 2nd time in under a year I’ve been utterly disappointed with service and food quality.

Inside restaurant is beautiful. Staff is nice. We did get their late because its so far from us we did not judge time to get there. If a place closes at 8 They should not start dumping food and tea before 8. Their cheese goat and cotija is super strong nasty smelling and worse tasting. My meal should have come with rice and beans but evidently they were out. Their chicken tacos were tasted but cheap store bought taco shells. chips were stale did not taste fresh. They dumped the tea so we could not get refills which was needed because their salsa was so hot! Will not go back.

My wife went out to celebrate a birthday with girls, expecting a great time, but the experience was a complete disaster. The waitress seemed totally out of it—like she was on something. She kept forgetting our drinks, barely acknowledged us, and acted like she couldn’t care less. No warmth, no effort, just pure indifference. It was our first time there, and after this train wreck of a night, it will definitely be our last.

This is by far the most disappointing Mexican food dining experience I have had on 3 continents. Our experience started going south with our guacamole that came out to us and was just mashed up avocado with zero seasoning, we had to ask the waitress for limes, salt and pepper to at least have flavor of something except baby food avocado. Then, when my steak burrito came out, it had no taste of any spices. The most flavorful part was sour cream. My black beans and some green abomination they called cilantro rice was also horrendous. My wifes steak tacos were an absolute embarrassment to my entire Mexican upbringing, and whomever made those, it was not funny if you were trying to make a joke and serve hard, hardly warm and cooked to death meat. My wife had me taste the meat as she could not chew it and the young man who served that should be banned from any further culinary participation in any kitchen line, shame on you if you think that could pass in any real kitchen. Overall if you are not fond of anything more spicy than black pepper than this is your spot but if you don't consider mayonnaise a spice and you want Mexican food than save your money, this is a place for a very European, Midwestern taste palat and is not suitable for latinos.

While the food was generally good, it did not quite meet our expectations. Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. Despite our efforts to get the attention of the wait staff, we only received refills when the check was brought out despite telling the wait staff 3 time we needed them. Additionally, we felt rushed throughout our meal, even though the restaurant was not busy at all.

Firstly, the presentation was amazing however, the burrito i got absolutely sucked. I counted and there was 3 small peices of meat in it, other than that, just rice and beans. Worst tasting food I've ever had from a Mexican restaurant too. The staff were not attentive at all and I was super thirsty the whole dinner from the salt filled rice. It was horrible.

I went to this restaurant a couple days ago and had to think of my review for a couple days. It was my first time trying zócalos and was extremely excited to eat here based on pictures. When I walked through the doors the lights were dim but comfortable to be in, the decor and building were very nice. Once seated someone came quickly and brought us water and chips, the staff were very friendly and helpful at first. While waiting to order I asked for additional napkins and forks as there weren't enough. Once ordered food came out about 20 min later it looked really good and I was excited, I asked again for a fork to eat with. After asking another 4 times while my food sat I finnaly had a busser bring me a fork. Now I'm able to eat the enchilada plate I took my first bite and the sauce was very ketchup tasting the enchilada itself didn't have a good flavor and the beans weren't as asked for which was what comes out with the salsa. The three star review is based on the overall looks of building. I wish they would focus more on taste than presentation of the prepared food.

Only giving a 1 star because their customer service was great.. although, food on the other hand was not satisfying leaving the restaurant plates almost full. My daughter didn’t like the beans.. and the rice was not fully cooked. Carnitas and enchiladas flavor were very bland. Was trying our best to try and finish our food just so our money wouldn’t go to waste, didn’t happen. I was super excited to try this place out & honestly I’m very disappointed… ‘ Chile pineapple paloma’ & ‘ mangonada on the rock’ terrible it taste like pure tequila.. in that case i could’ve just bought a tequila shot. Honestly $120 not worth it !

Most overpriced food I've ever had. Went here with my wife and mom and not one of us liked it. Felt like the most gentrified mexican food there could possibly be.

Every time I come here it's the same story: the heaters above the customers table are not working. Very convenient how only the heaters above the host stations are working. Who wants to pay $300 for a meal only to eat it in the cold?
