Pakwan is a popular spot for Pakistani and Indian food, known for its flavorful and reasonably priced dishes. Many recommend the Achari Chicken, Goat Curry, and Chicken Seekh Kebabs. It's a casual, family-friendly self-service restaurant, but can get crowded and noisy, especially on weekends.

Excellent place for authentic desi non-veg food. The best one is tandoori chicken breast! 👌👍
Excellent quality food, very fast service. It can get very busy and the parking lot fills up during peak hours, so plan accordingly.
Regular here. Love their tandoori leg and breast! Mutton biryani is very flavorful and so is their tea! Their naans are soft and pretty big! Reasonable prices, quick service! I just hope they paid a little more attention to cleanliness and their restroom! But it won’t stop me from going here!
Putting politics aside this place is the best for Punjabi food hands down in USA. Being Indian, first time I ate here I was amazed for tasting home food away from Punjab a second time after eating dhaba food on i5 near Bakersfield iykyk. love the kadhai mutton and chicken Haleem in pakwaan. Wish they can introduce lamb paya in future.ask for free onion which can be dipped in mint sauce. Also the complimentary tea is the best hands down.
Earlier in the year i celebrated my birthday at Pakwaan with my friends and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the hosts made us feel incredibly welcome warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our evening special. The ambience was perfect for a celebration: elegant, lively, and inviting. But the real highlight was the food being absolutely phenomenal in every way. Every dish showcased remarkable freshness, bold flavors and meticulous preparation. We had a spread that included Chicken Boti, Paneer dishes, a couple of mutton varieties, and biryani, and each one was exquisite. The balance of spices, the tenderness of the meats, and the overall richness of the flavors were truly top notch. It was the kind of meal where every bite makes you appreciate just how good food can be and something I could happily enjoy day after day without hesitation. Pakwaan made my birthday celebration unforgettable, and I can’t thank them enough for the experience. Highly, highly recommended for anyone looking for incredible Pakistani Indian cuisine, exceptional service, and an ambience that elevates any special moment.
Food is very good. Would recommend Nihari for those who are new. Service depends. Can be fast or slow, if busy mostly on weekends, slow, but ln normal weekdays, moderate and sometimes fast. Restaraunt is mostly clean. Except, walls are stained. Bathroom could also use extra cleaning.
Pakwan was pretty clean, and the dishes were very reasonable priced given the size. We got the chicken Tikka masala and it was rich and creamy, while the saag gosht was a bit too salty but still quite good. I'm usually a big fan of Shalimar and would still say that Shalimar has better naan and saag gosht, but Pakwan was also quite good as well.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Goat Curry is simply amazing - for the goat lovers out there. Chicken seeks kebabs are simply mouth watering 😋 as well, you get the flavors of different spices in each bite of kabab. Goat/lamb is well cooked and has the perfect blend of spices and flavors in one dish. The restaurant is self-serve, so depending on the person - that may or may not be a problem.
I have been coming here for years. I love the quality of the food. Meats are Halal and always tender. Seating can be limited and hard to get. If you can't find a table, you are not able to order your food for dine in. I would reception take away on peak hours, but if you wait it may take time to find seating. Chai is no longer free and they charge $2.00 per cup.
I recently visited Pakwan, a casual Indian spot, and had a great experience. The food was flavorful and fresh. The atmosphere was relaxed, perfect for a quick meal or catching up with friends. The service was friendly and fast, and the prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. If you're looking for a tasty, no-frills Indian meal, this place is definitely worth a try! Bon Appetite!
I just like this type of restaurant. No fancy environment but not hole in the wall, order and find a seat, get your own utensils, take your own food when the number calls. No marked up suggested tips ( when ordering, the suggested tips are 5%, 10%, and 15%). Family friendly ( lots of kids). The only shortcoming is their restroom is so small … but it is clean. Oh, food is of course delicious, that is the key! Definitely I will be back again and again until they change the way they work!
Having visited this Pakistani restaurant based on numerous recommendations, it turned out to be a delightful culinary adventure. The Chicken Tandoori was exceptionally juicy and definitely worth savoring. A standout recommendation from my experience is the Achari Chicken – a flavorful dish that I highly recommend trying. Looking forward to returning for more delicious delights!
12/24/25 Wednesday Christmas eve. Ordered mutton ghost, chicken seekh kabob taste very good. 11/22/24 Friday they didn't have goat brain masala so disappointing so I ordered chicken tikka masala n chicken seekh kebab, taste good. 11/6/24 Wednesday Mutton biryani, garlic naan, chicken leg, chicken seekh kabob, karahi ghost, mango lassi. All were taste good.
We wanted to have tandoori and heard form few of our friends that this place has some good tandoori. We got chicken tandoori, fish tandoori and yea. The tea was average not as good as nearby shops. The fish tandoori was outstanding. It was melting in our mouth and the flavors were apt and perfect. The chicken tandoori was goo but not the best I’ve tasted. The meat was fresh and juicy and perfectly cooked. I felt the tandoori could have had more flavor. The chicken had good seasoning outside but as we dig in big pieces I felt the inner meat was bland. They have amazing mint and sweet sate sauces to accompany with tandoori. It’s a self service restaurant and it gets busier eventually closer to 1pm or so. Overall we would vouch this place to try tandoori and other curries which looked tempting. Will definitely go back to try out their other dishes.
We came to this restaurant for dinner and had a decent experience overall. The food has an Arabian-style touch—from biryani to appetizers and main courses. If you’re looking for tandoori or kebab-style dishes, this may not be the right fit. The ambience is nice, but be prepared for longer wait times on weekends due to limited seating. Also, they do not accept American Express or Discover cards, so plan accordingly. A good spot for a unique twist on familiar flavors!
Its a self Serve restaurant. We had to order at the counter inside and once the food was ready they announced the number and we had to get the order from the counter. The Paneer Makhni was nice but a little sweet and creamy for my palette, the chicken karahi on the other hand was too good. Overall, food here was nice.
My experience at Pakwan, a Pakistani restaurant, was average. The food, while okay, didn't stand out in terms of flavor or authenticity. The menu offered a variety of dishes, but the overall taste fell short of what I expected from a Pakistani restaurant. The service was decent, but the culinary experience didn't leave a lasting impression. If you're looking for a quick option, Pakwan might suffice, but it may not be the best choice for those seeking an exceptional Pakistani dining experience.
Went for the dinner during weekday. I have tried on weekends before but it is usually busy on weekends. You need to place the order before and find table for yourself. Also, it is self service restaurant. We ordered chicken haleem, goat curry, Veg korma, Garlic and butter naans. The goat curry was yummy. I found the food was having extra fat.
The place serves good food, and the crowd proves it — despite being packed to capacity on a Saturday night, people were happily lining up for more. It can get a bit too noisy at peak hours. It’s a self-service setup but worth it for the flavors you get. The chicken kebab was on the rubbery side, but tasty. The mutton biryani was tender, well-spiced, and comforting. The naan was soft and fresh, and the butter chicken struck the perfect balance of spices and creaminess.
I visited this restaurant and ordered the mutton karahi with naan — and I must say, the food was genuinely delicious. The flavors were rich, the meat was tender, and the naan was fresh and perfectly done. It’s a self-service setup, which was fine by me. However, my overall experience was let down by the ambiance. The place was extremely noisy, and a particular group was being obnoxiously loud throughout my meal. What made it worse was the complete lack of intervention from the management. It was clear that many others around me were just as irritated and uncomfortable, but no one from the staff made an effort to maintain a pleasant dining environment. It’s disappointing because while the food definitely hit the mark, the atmosphere made it hard to actually enjoy my meal. A little bit of crowd control or noise management would go a long way here.
The chicken boti kabob is the best as always with Pakwans . But it does not make up for the 30 minute wait, no appetizers, no garlic naan, and to sour the experience even more, the chicken tikka masala was sweet, not even mildly spicy.
Ordered a pickup of mutton biryani to go based on the previous dine-in experience. The biryani was pretty bland and literally oil was dripping. It was so greasy and we had to through 70% of it. Pretty disappointed! Would not recommend taking out from here.
Was driving by Fremont last night (Saturday 07/05) and decided to stop at Pakwan Fremont to get TOGO for Sunday lunch. This was around 9 PM at night. Bought 2 Chicken Biryanis, 1 Goat Briyani and 2 Chicken Legs for Togo. The chicken Briyani was a little yellowish like it was mixed up which made me doubtful, but I assumed that is how they made it these days. Travelled for 2 hours and put them in the refrigerator to enjoy for Sunday lunch. Took out the food today and it smelled different before heating. Put the chicken Briyani in the Oven and heated it for 2 mins, once it came out, it started stinking. Tried to take bit of it to taste and the rice was very stale. Called to complain to the restaurant, once guy picked up once I told him the food that I bought last night was bad he passed the food to another guy. He straight out called me that I had not preseved it properly. He did not care to ask when I bought it, did not care what else I had ordered along with it, no empathy or feeling bad for the customer and straight out blamed my fridge that my storing conditions were not correct. The mutton Briyani I bought did not go bad though. Does that mean that the Briyani is bad or my storing conditions? He never even listened to what the concern was and kept on talking about it has never happened in their history. I finally hung up on the phone saying that I will never step into that restaurant again or recommend any of my friends to go there. I am really surprised to see how they are managing to survive in the market by being so arrogant and rude. If someone is going there expecting customer service good luck to you guys. Attached pic of STALE Briyani here.
