People make fun of some of the chain barbecue restaurants including Soulman's, but even though it's been a while since I've eaten here I noticed that the food is just as good as the last time I was here. They've remained remarkably consistent over the years. It's great to have some good barbecue close to home.

It was our 2nd time visiting a Soulman's BBQ location in 72 hours for sure, and it was par excellent! We highly recommend that y'all stop in and check these exemplary folks' contributions each day to the greater DFW Metroland culinary community. See y'all there! Because boy, howdy it is good to the last bite 🫦 😋!

Went to dine in for first time, easy menu and sides are visible before ordering. Female cashier was very helpful when having a small hiccup near the register. Onions from the side are crunchy and not spicy/bitter. To go plates are easily accessible near the order window.

Just as good as I remembered it! It's been over 20 years since I've had ribs from Soulman's, but they are just as smokey and tender as before. As always, they were generous with the helpings of the meats on the platter. I appreciated that the fried okra was made to order.

Came here for lunch with a colleague on a quick work trip. So fast and delicious! We had the pulled pork combo sandwich with two sides (cole slaw and mac + cheese). So yummy and affordable! We also each had a small portion of the banana pudding, which was fab, too. Glad we were able to enjoy some BBQ during our short visit.

I had a good experience at Soul Man's BBQ.. Donisha Johnson was so sweet and recommended the pulled pork, I've never had and wanted something different. It was delicious.. I recommend this place.

Was looking for good BBQ while in town. Pleased with this place. Delicious food for everyone at the table, even the kids!! Sausage had great spice, pulled pork was the right combination of tender with some burnt end bits. Would definitely return on a future trip!!

This is one of the best Soulmans we’ve been to. We’ve tried several other locations and some were good and some were bad, but this one was exceptional. The portion sizes were great, the quality of the food was perfect, hot and fresh made. We spoke to Isabel the Manager, and let her know that her staff were kind and everything at this location was beyond what we expected.

Baked potatoe was great I'm definitely going back! The portions were definitely worth the money. I had a baked potato with smoked sausage, brisket bacon and it was delicious. I tried the mac & cheese, but it wasn't for me, but overall great food and experience.

Best it’s been in a while. The gentleman cutting the meat was great and cut what was asked. All the meats and sides were great. Jocelyn did a nice job and got in and out with to-go order in just a few minutes.

Been coming to this location for a while and everyone is so nice and respectful. One person that makes the visits worth the drive is Nisha Shane always has a smile and has great customer service. But overall a great team of people.

I love this place! When it comes to eating out with your family, no matter where you go, not only the food is what matters but the surrounding atmosphere of the workers working there. This place, it’s just perfect! The employees are great, they make you feel part of their family, they’re friendly, and definitely make you feel welcomed! With that said, the food is amazing as well :)

Every time I’m in the mood for BBQ, this is the place to go. I’ve been coming here for years and never had any problems. The food is great and so is the staff. Ms. Donisha was my server and she was great!

Im updating my review.. I absolutely love this place, I have this delivered once or twice a week.. I usually order the sliced beef sandwich with a side of sausage and a slice of buttermilk pie. I have tried the ribs which are delicious and seasoned very well. I definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try!

Ordered 3 lbs. of sliced brisket for Easter. It was delicious, nice and lean. Couldn't have been more pleased and happy with it . Will he ordering again in the future... Oh, and the bbq sauce was the best!

Felt like walking in a small town restaurant, friendly people and great service. Hard to find something of this nature in plain city, they have an app to order from ahead or when you are there to take something home, oh and please you have to try this, with you okra next time,, mix your match potatoes with white gravey they throw your fried okra and Oh My God!!!..the mix makes for an amazing side dish, Imma have to try and make this at home, I am in love!!! 🥰

Gotta say when coming in here I was looking for two things . Good service and good food. 1) Service . Walking in all I saw was smiles from the employees as they greeted me. The person at the block helped me picked the meats I wanted by suggesting Brisket, sausage or Ribs. .....I got all 3 of them lol. 2) Good Food. Coming from the restaurant industry myself specifically spending some good time in the barbecue restaurant I wanna tell you a brief description of what I got. Brisket- tender, smokey ring around the Brisket, tender oh yeah and Delicious ! Sausage - loved the flavor, smokey taste to it . RIBS - Fall off the bone with every bite. No barbecue sauce needed! I came for good service and I got it ! I came for good Food and it exceeded my expectations. It's been over 4 months since I've had a good barbecue plate and today I got it ! I will be coming back !

The ribs were good and the sides were the best I've ever had. Mac and cheese tastes like quality cheese, the fries were freshly cut and freshly made I just put salt and pepper to my own taste and they were the best ever. The brisket was the driest brisket I've ever ate but I didn't ask for marbled brisket and they gave me a lot of slices like double any other place normally would. And the people serving the food are so friendly. This is without a doubt one of my new favorite BBQ places and I can eat it anywhere since it's a chain. Definitely worth the price. I can't wait to come back and eat again

I came here with my boyfriend, who is quite the lover of barbecue. I don’t find myself being crazy about barbecue in general, but this place is insanely good. I got the chicken and it was the juiciest chicken I’ve ever had, whereas all other barbecue places I’ve been to had super dry chicken. The house beans were delicious, their banana pudding is light and to die for. Just all around an amazing place that I’ve never been to before, but will be back! I am now a lover of barbecue, but only Soulmans for sure.

I have not been to this location in a couple of years until today and today I went in to taste test some of the meat in order to decide if we wanted to use it for a birthday party. Not only did they provide me with a sample, but it has been a long time since I've had hot links, sausage or ribs that were not only this flavorful but this moist. You almost don't need the barbecue sauce unless you want that sweet and savory taste because everything tastes amazing and everything is moist and falls off the bone or falls apart in your mouth the way it should without even adding barbecue sauce. I'm going to have to remember to come here more often, just for myself.

We’ve been searching for a good *affordable* BBQ place since our favorite closed earlier this year, and we finally found it!! Got our BBQ to go. So Good!! Lean brisket with just the right amount of fat around the edges. Sides were the usuals you’d expect. There was a little mix up on our order but the manager, very sweet woman, I spoke with on the phone instantly made it right with a credit. We will definitely make this a regular on our dining-out rotation.

Their food is always delicious. Their baked potatoes are huge w lots of toppings & they have the best banana pudding. You also get a free ice cream on a cone with dine in. The staff is supeer friendly & if you go there enough, they remember your name.

Great BBQ! GREAT SAUCE! HOWEVER, the sides are not so great. My hubby and I LOVE fried okra and unfortunately, it was old, hard, chewy, and just, NOT GOOD. OTHER THAN THAT, AWESOME BEEF BBQ!

For me only one other barbecue place beats this one and no I'm not going to put it here. They have really good food and I love their customer service. They're always friendly and helpful. Of the times I've been to this restaurant it's always been clean. It can get a bit busy but in spite of that everything remains the same.

Pros: My family and I just ate here tonight, we had the large meal for four to six people and really enjoyed it. For are sides we had green beans, okra, pinto beans, creamy corn and french fries. We decided to stay and eat and we really enjoyed the food. It was fresh and the place was clean in the dining area. Overall I’m glad we ate here tonight and was satisfied with the rest of the food and would love to return. -Thank you Cons: The bathrooms could use a better cleaning, and the brisket was dry which was disappointing

Did a catering call for a next day order. My staff and I enjoyed the baked potato bar style meal. The meat portions was a little less than I'd expected for 20 ppl but overall the experience was great and I'll definitely dip it again.

I highly recommend their meat. There barbeque meat is great. It was tender and was smoked wonderfully. I never can find barbeque that's that tender anywhere. Other places, the meat is way over cooked and hard and tuff. Be careful of there fried okra. It was cooked way to much. It was hard as a rock. I would have taken it back but I had gotten home before I tried it. Any way, try it, I think you'll love it.😊

As promised, the Texas Style cream corn was spicy... but so was the service :( How can one truly savor the delectable goodness of sweet corn balanced with a peppery heat while still feeling the burn coming from the counter? "No rolls today! Texas toast or burger bun!" I am torn. Honor the pit master and head cook with a well deserved excellent review? Great deal : $11.99 gets you a meat, 2 sides & a 20 oz drink!! There were 3 of us this evening about 5:30, for take out. I ordered pulled pork, with pinto beans & banana pudding. My bun was a bit dry/stale but ok once smothered in their tasty BBQ sauce. My sides were pinto beans (didn’t care for these) and banana pudding . OMG y’all, this banana pudding is the absolute BEST & I am very picky about my nanner puddin’ !! This is the most like homemade with bananas & wafers throughout, not too thick not too thin. I will return just for this !!! For one companion, pulled pork sandwich with fries & coleslaw. She said some of the fries were undercooked, slaw was ok. Third person, pulled pork sandwich, pinto beans & coleslaw . Didn’t care for the pinto beans, slaw was ok. I had a bite of the coleslaw, it was a little juicy/runny for my liking but overall taste was ok. Is guess it’s a Texas thing, but no baked beans?? They had ranch beans, but we can’t tolerate onions & peppers at our age lol. We were at the 3410 Broadway location in Garland. Friendly staff & clean restaurant.

UPDATED: Had lunch here this week and the food was hot and fresh. The head chef and staff were all friendly. We were given large portions. They have improved a lot since our first visit. 5/3/2025. Service was good, food was only decent. After eating part of my food, I discovered under the heap of sour cream and brisket that my food was black in color and old. The drink machine was only giving carbonation and the toast was cold. Not their first moment!

I ordered takeout from here tonight and I went in to pick up the order and let’s just say I was not pleased with the cleanliness of the restaurant. My wife’s nephew suggested this place(we were visiting from Houston) and I was a bit skeptical after seeing how dirty the inside of the restaurant looked. Thankfully the food was decent once I tried it. The brisket was good and the banana pudding was decent.

Great place so for good Bar-B-Q. Been eatin from this place for years.i highly recommend u go hear. And Iittle secret if the one on Gross Rd is packed u can sneak to this location and man be in and out in a matter of minutes. Both places r great.

Customer service was excellent. However _ the sandwich was skimpy with the sliced brisket and the bun was small. I usually go to Bakers Ribs. I was expecting the same sandwich, it didn't happen. Maybe they have different size sandwiches and I just missed it on the menu. Either way I will not be going back.

Customer service is great! Meat's are good. Can't really go wrong with BBQ but the sides lack. The fries aren't fresh or they are left raw and the bread for the sandwich is old because it's hard

The food is top notch but I have ordered online twice and asked in the notes for butter to be on the side for my baked potato and didn’t ask for bbq sauce and neither time did I get a cup of butter and I got a cup of bbq sauce. It’s not a major deal but being able to eat the meat topping and then pouring the butter on is such a nice experience. For how expensive it is to eat here, I like to make the most of it. Please read the order notes on your online orders in the future.

I have been here on several occasions and the food was good. How ever today the barbecue taste like? It has been boiled,! I'm not pleased!. I also had pieces that were hard I ask not to get those but they were in my order Anyway, I might have to find another place to go I am trying to support the Business because it's in the neighborhood and I do want good food and service as well. I was not pleased this time.

I was pleasantly surprised with their sides. Very well seasoned. My brisket was very basic and average, but the ribs were good.

They need help. 15 minutes in line with only 3 people ahead of me. The line only grew longer after I got my food. Also they may need a bug zapper. I had 3 little fruit flys that would not get away from my food.

I've had better service and food! The little cashier was super Rud. The potato salad was so Mustardee. It made us look like we was having a stroke. BBQ was tender, with no seasoning or flavor. Bread was fresh. Want be so quick to try them again.

Overpriced bbq. They charged me for 1/4lb of meat for a sandwich. Was $26 for the sandwich and they wouldn’t change it. I told them o wanted brisket and chicken on the sandwich so half and half. Nah they refused and said it had to be rung up this way. Obviously I won’t be back.

I had not been here in awhile. It used to be a great place to eat. I got the Dynamite special. The bun was cold and hard, the chopped beef was ok and would have been better if it was not for the bun. I got a side of spicy potatoes, they had good flavor but we're not even warm. Not worth the $12 I paid. I will think twice before going back.

I was expecting to go in there and get some genuine Texas barbecue and it was not what I was expecting. If it's not cooked with charcoal it's not barbecue.

Had a really bad experience. Stopped in to grab food and the Hispanic lady at the register gave me a hard time about ordering two of the same meats. I went in doordash and placed the order where I could order two of the same meats. She felt the need to inform her coworker I "beat" the system by going online. Apparently they get in trouble for giving two of the same meats on a 3-meat platter. Don't understand why it matters if I'm paying EITHER WAY!! Probably won't go back to this location I'll go back to mesquite.

Nice place with a great atmosphere. I went with a few colleagues and was excited to try it, but all the meats (chicken, beef, and pork) were mixed together. Since some of us don’t eat pork or beef, we couldn’t order anything and had to go elsewhere. It’d be great if they could separate the meats for people with dietary or religious restrictions.

I was recently in the mood for some barbecue and decided to stop by Soulman’s BBQ after spotting it on my drive home. I had high hopes based on their reputation and ordered a brisket sandwich and a Belly Buster plate. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet my expectations. The brisket in the sandwich was finely chopped—almost to the point of being minced—which took away from the texture and presentation I typically associate with good Texas brisket. The meat was served cold, and while there was a hint of smokiness, it lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. I don’t usually like making comparisons, but even Buc-ee’s, a gas station known for quick eats, serves a brisket sandwich that I found more satisfying. That’s disappointing coming from a restaurant whose focus is authentic BBQ. This review isn’t meant to bash the business but to offer honest feedback. Texas BBQ holds a special place for many of us, and I hope this helps the team at Soulman’s continue improving. While I personally won’t be returning, I wish them continued success. One guest’s experience shouldn’t define the whole business, but every guest’s feedback can be an opportunity to grow.

Whereas they have amazing food I just came by it was 858 still had 2 minutes to be open I just wanted to make a order to go and the cashier locked the door. Which I feel is very unprofessional to close prior to closing time just to keep from serving a customer. I do not see myself going to this soulman's again for that reason alone. And it is a shame because I do love their food and usually they do have great service. If I can leave one last word of advice value your customers and uphold the business time

We went this evening and my husband ordered a Brisket plate with fries and Mac and cheese. Highly disappointed! The toast had to be sitting out for some time, and is hard as a rock. The French fries were so under cooked, they had a translucent look and I tried one. It was as if they dropped them, counted to one and pulled them out. They were raw! I will never come back here again.

The ribs were very tender. That's where the positive stops. The potato salad, if you can call it that, was more like cold tangy mashed potatoes. The macaroni and cheese might have tasted better if there was real cheese in it. The orange sauce had zero flavor but the macaroni was done. The green beans tasted fresh out of the can. Maybe cooking a little longer would have gotten rid of the tin can taste. Ate the ribs left the rest.

Ordered our Thanksgiving meal from them, and everything was perfect! Will definitely order holiday meals from them in the future! Thanks Soulman's! Edit: The above review was left over a year ago. We got our Thanksgiving meal from them again for 2021, and it was very disappointing. Overly salty, over cooked, just gross. Even after all that we decided to give them another shot and get dinner there tonight. Mistake. The chopped beef used to be so delicious....now mostly fat. Won't be going back.

Ribs look good but they a very tough you can’t bite into them

Wanted the half of slab of ribs special and was told it would be a 30 minute wait. As I pondered on something different to order, I decided.to continue to wait on the ribs. I told the food service clerk I want the rib platter. She states we ding have any. I said well the other lady said it would be a 30 minute wait. The food service clerk stated yea but it hasn't been 30 minutes. I stated that I'm just putting in the order and paying for it and will wait. She said but we don't have any. I promptly left. I can not comment on the quality of food, only the customer service.

Ordered through DoorDash and my order was sloppily put together as if they did not care. You would think if someone gets the sandwich combo with extra sausage on the side that sauce would not be forgotten especially when specified on the order. I always order from this location and never had an issue until today. I feel like the quality of the food was the worst I’ve ever experienced

I had the worst customer service today the black waiter/cashier was very rude talking back and getting smart with me trying to make me repeat my order a 3rd time all I want was a out of site special for here and 3 slab of ribs to go only for my coworkers but I applaud the chef he top it off behind her poor customer service by being extra nice he took over then she was being mean and rude and I don’t play when I am spending my money where I like to eat before work I am never going back if she has to wait on me

People told me Soulman's Catfish wasn't any good and didn't recommend it. But I just had to see for myself. I have been waiting for Friday all week just to eat some succulent catfish. But I was so so so disappointed. What I got instead was cheap frozen little filets the size of your palm that taste like crap. They weren't hot like made to order either. It's as if they had made them and had them under the heat lamp. And the 3 little tiny hush puppies were no better. They called it the big catch and charged a whopping $16 for the worst catfish I have ever had in my life. Needless to say I won't be going back. Sorry Soulman, you are fired!

The wait time is unheard of. Every single time I visit this place they are Slow. Slow. Slow. Slow. Slow. I often pass on eating here because of how slow they are. After standing line for 20 minutes we had to wait to place our order, so that they could make call-in/online orders. By the time they got back to us we were told they were out of ribs, and there would be an additional 30 minute wait. Tonight was the final straw. Never again.

I placed an order over the phone on 4/15/22 for several sandwiches, fries, and drinks. I was told 15 minutes so I arrived and paid for my order and waited. As I was waiting I was not impressed with the person doing the meat she was extremely slow and as she was placing the meat on sandwiches she started working the line with other customers which was no issue until she started being rude to the cashier that was trying to finish putting my order together with no help. The girl doing the meat then pretty much push the cashier out the way and finish packing up my order shoving all the fries in one bag she might have just pour the basket in the bag since the several orders of fries ended up that way. Then she told the cashier rudely to stay at register. I will say the cashier was doing her best to handle my order first since I was there and already paid for it where as the lady doing the meat kept putting the line customers a head of me. I give the cashier great praise for handling the rudeness of the other. I won’t go back there since I do not appreciate seeing employees especially young people be treated poorly in front of customers by other employees which I took as someone in charge such disrespect to employee and customers and totally unprofessional. This place was much better under the other manager. Good luck with business at this location.

They don't season the brisket and it actually looks as if it was boiled because no smoke ring or flavor. This was by far the worst food I've had in the 7 years I've been in Dallas. Nothing I brought was good, even the kids didn't like it. $100 gone to waste.

If your card machine has been out for 3 days and you're only taking cash then you need yo put a sign on your door. Do not wait until we have placed our order to tell us that it is cash only. Also, I have ordered all brisket on a 3 meat plate many times and now all of sudden brisket can ONLY be ONE selection. Get out of here. If that's the case, 1 put it on the menu and stop offering a "3 meat of your choice" plate because it's not my choice is it if I can only pick brisket, sausage and turkey. You're deciding for me. We will definitely not come back to this location.

Slice brisket tasted like it boiled nasty texture and no flavor and smoked sausage tasted like it was microwaved. At least the cabbage and beans were good cause the meat went in the trash.

We have been coming here for some time now and the service and food was initially great. After some time we noticed the service was definitely not the same anymore. Then the food quality also started declining. This however, was definitely the last straw. Finding a fly in my food was utterly disgusting. I understand there are things they can’t control, but how would they serve it and not notice or care. Not to mention the bread was stale and the soul bowl was more Chips (Fritos) than anything. I will definitely never be eating here again. It is sad to see that what was once an amazing barbecue place is now a place with bad service and unsanitary food...
