UPDATED: Had lunch here this week and the food was hot and fresh. The head chef and staff were all friendly. We were given large portions. They have improved a lot since our first visit. 5/3/2025. Service was good, food was only decent. After eating part of my food, I discovered under the heap of sour cream and brisket that my food was black in color and old. The drink machine was only giving carbonation and the toast was cold. Not their first moment!

I ordered takeout from here tonight and I went in to pick up the order and let’s just say I was not pleased with the cleanliness of the restaurant. My wife’s nephew suggested this place(we were visiting from Houston) and I was a bit skeptical after seeing how dirty the inside of the restaurant looked. Thankfully the food was decent once I tried it. The brisket was good and the banana pudding was decent.

Great place so for good Bar-B-Q. Been eatin from this place for years.i highly recommend u go hear. And Iittle secret if the one on Gross Rd is packed u can sneak to this location and man be in and out in a matter of minutes. Both places r great.

Good meat overall, however no bbq or any sauce was added after being charged and asked for it. Would recommend but i had to replace the bbq with ketchup at home after they assured me it was in there

They need help. 15 minutes in line with only 3 people ahead of me. The line only grew longer after I got my food. Also they may need a bug zapper. I had 3 little fruit flys that would not get away from my food.

Had a really bad experience. Stopped in to grab food and the Hispanic lady at the register gave me a hard time about ordering two of the same meats. I went in doordash and placed the order where I could order two of the same meats. She felt the need to inform her coworker I "beat" the system by going online. Apparently they get in trouble for giving two of the same meats on a 3-meat platter. Don't understand why it matters if I'm paying EITHER WAY!! Probably won't go back to this location I'll go back to mesquite.

Nice place with a great atmosphere. I went with a few colleagues and was excited to try it, but all the meats (chicken, beef, and pork) were mixed together. Since some of us don’t eat pork or beef, we couldn’t order anything and had to go elsewhere. It’d be great if they could separate the meats for people with dietary or religious restrictions.

I was recently in the mood for some barbecue and decided to stop by Soulman’s BBQ after spotting it on my drive home. I had high hopes based on their reputation and ordered a brisket sandwich and a Belly Buster plate. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet my expectations. The brisket in the sandwich was finely chopped—almost to the point of being minced—which took away from the texture and presentation I typically associate with good Texas brisket. The meat was served cold, and while there was a hint of smokiness, it lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. I don’t usually like making comparisons, but even Buc-ee’s, a gas station known for quick eats, serves a brisket sandwich that I found more satisfying. That’s disappointing coming from a restaurant whose focus is authentic BBQ. This review isn’t meant to bash the business but to offer honest feedback. Texas BBQ holds a special place for many of us, and I hope this helps the team at Soulman’s continue improving. While I personally won’t be returning, I wish them continued success. One guest’s experience shouldn’t define the whole business, but every guest’s feedback can be an opportunity to grow.

Slice brisket tasted like it boiled nasty texture and no flavor and smoked sausage tasted like it was microwaved. At least the cabbage and beans were good cause the meat went in the trash.

We have been coming here for some time now and the service and food was initially great. After some time we noticed the service was definitely not the same anymore. Then the food quality also started declining. This however, was definitely the last straw. Finding a fly in my food was utterly disgusting. I understand there are things they can’t control, but how would they serve it and not notice or care. Not to mention the bread was stale and the soul bowl was more Chips (Fritos) than anything. I will definitely never be eating here again. It is sad to see that what was once an amazing barbecue place is now a place with bad service and unsanitary food...
