We had a great lunch at Alehouse & Bistro. Our group of four had a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived. We were seated right away, which made the start of our lunch very smooth. The server was friendly, attentive, and took our order quickly, making the whole experience feel relaxed and well organized. Our food and cocktails were delivered promptly, and everything tasted fantastic. Every dish was delicious, flavorful, and well prepared. The service was excellent and the atmosphere made it a perfect spot for lunch with family.

The Tuna TATAKI was to die for my first time here for a light bite and brew and OMG. It was so fresh, the ponzu sauce must’ve had something additionally special into it because it was so good sesame seeds. Everything was just amazing. The noodles was a genius addition they were also amazing.

This was my first vist. It was a Tuesday at late lunch time. Plenty of seating available. I guess many people don't know yet about this great restaurant! They have a good menu including an extra page with the daily specials. There are some surprising items on the list you may not expect at an Alehouse in Gilroy! I had the Japanese Curry & Pork Katsu. It came sizzling hot in a skillet and was very tasty! It is calling itself Alehouse Bistro for a good reason, they have a very good selection of beers (in addition to wine and a nice list of cocktails as well as plenty of non-alcoholic choices). So, you always find something you like!

It was girls night out and we weren't disappointed in trying this new place. We have some standard restaurants that we usually go to but I want to try something new and I'm so glad we did. We enjoyed a bowl and then also the fish tacos, they were both outstanding! My only complaint is the noise it's a little noisy not horrible but a little bit noisy if you were in a group it probably would be hard to hear people at a table of more than four. Service was outstanding! 5/23/2025 Update, we enjoyed the restaurant to celebrate my daughter's graduation. We had a party of 7, I had a reserved table which the restaurant did a fantastic job setting up in the back portion of the restaurant away from the noise and traffic of other customers. Jennifer was our server and she often checked on us, giving us updates on our food and making sure we were satisfied. She did a great job making us feel welcome and allowing us to pace our dining experience as we desired. The menu variations are wide and all the food was tasty, including the desserts!

Great good at a reasonable price! Not crowded and fast service. We stopped on a road trip and were pleasantly surprised by the food!

My husband had the fish and chips. Instead of the heavy coating they used what appeared to be panko bread crumbs. Nice and light not greasy. 2 dripping sauces, tater and cocktail sauce. Lots of light crispy fries and a little coleslaw, Yummy. I did the Hawaiian steak skewers. Hit the mark. Steak medium and juicy. Very tender. Coated in teriyaki sauce. Sides of rice and Hawaiian macaroni. Perfect pairing with great taste and texture. We sat on the patio which was nice but needs a light curtain to block the view of the parking lot. But is was still really enjoyable.

Sat outside because inside it was so loud; I’m guessing it’s because of the floor and high ceilings. Had excellent service from the young ladies who were working very hard. Delicious food and presentation. We recommend this restaurant and we will return.

Stopped by yesterday. Couldn’t help but notice that when you walk in you’re greeted by friendly employees, and the beautiful Christmas decorations they have. Super tasty food, and drinks. The Mardi Gras pasta was great, I also got to try the pesto pasta, pork bell and bidi bi bam? All 10/10 dishes. I really appreciated their clear smooth ice and cold cups. Went well with our beautiful, delicious, outstanding meals. I mean just look at the pictures. Not to mention that the server was fantastic and on it! A great experience.

After my motorcycle lessons at Gavilan College, I stopped by and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing menu. I tried a Pacific Dopeness on tap along with the chicken satay. The service and quality were top-notch! I will definitely return for dinner next time.

THE ONLY GOOD PLACE TO EAT IN GILROY!!! Easily the best spot! Outdoor seating is such a vibe, the Korean-American food was fresh and so good, and the staff were ridiculously polite and sweet.

The outside patio was nice, with a wood slat fence for some privacy. And the variety of succulents in the planters are a nice touch. I had the Waygu Loco Moco. The sauce was tasty over the rice. The egg and Waygu patty were cooked as ordered. My wife enjoyed the mahi mahi tacos. The pesto chicken sandwich my son had was tasty and light with crispy fries. It wasn't busy as we stopped by between lunch and dinner. We were seated promptly and the server was attentive.

We brought our family of seven for dinner and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The food was delicious, well prepared, and full of flavor, every dish was something people at the table were genuinely happy with. It’s rare for a group this size to all be pleased, but this was one of those times. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, and the service was fantastic. attentive without being intrusive. It was a great dining experience!

Dropped in after car shopping for a quick bite during lunch hours. Place wasn’t very busy. Maybe two other patrons at the time. We were greeted quickly, given napkins, silverware, menus, and water within the first two minutes of arriving. The waitstaff were patient and friendly. Everything appeared clean and ready for business. They have two non-gender, single person restrooms available. Both were spacious and clean. There is a patio area available should you choose to enjoy the Gilroy sunshine. The menus have a lot of choices available. You can check out their food offerings online at their website. Their drink menus are also vast in offerings. They have a mixed cocktail menu as well as a tap list that includes draft and can options. I’ve railed on this during other reviews and this probably won’t be the last time I do so; but since the pandemic, food prices have increased while portion size has decreased. It’s my only complaint about Alehouse and Bistro and to be fair, it’s my complaint about damn near anywhere lately. With the economy being as tough as it is right now, coupled with the ridiculous gas prices, there really isn’t much money left in people’s wallets for disposable income, meaning less and less people are opting to go out for meals and drinks, or at the very least, less often. Otherwise, our visit was nice. The food was good, but for the price and serving size, there’s no way it could’ve been worth it. For those curious, we ordered Wagyu Sliders (2 for $18) and Guac and chips ($8 for a small portion of guac and a si gel serving of chips).

This is basically an American restaurant that’s core, with a bunch of craft beers. The truffle burger I had was delicious, albeit pretty high priced ($24), especially for Gilroy. My friend had the mushroom risotto and claimed the mushrooms were ordinary white mushrooms (and not champignon as the menu stated), and they were not as happy about their meal.

We ordered a burger and calamari. The burger was delicious — juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the calamari was rubbery and overly salty. That said, the service was great — friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. A bit more care with the seafood would have made it a top-notch experience.

Really really wanted to like this place, the food has such potential but all the proteins we had (pork belly, pork chop, and a burger) were beyond well done. Everything was beautifully presented. We waited about 40 minutes for a table, and upon being seated were told the kitchen was about 30 minutes out. We waited over an hour for our meals. I will say, everyone was friendly, but they could use someone overseeing the service/etc. It appears maybe the woman running the bar was in charge, but difficult to tell. There was a young gentleman who appeared to be a food runner/busser who was insanely friendly and really kept people there. Would try again, hoping for different results.

Ordered medium burgers and got well done. Bacon cheese and sauce was pretty much non existent. Bread also fell apart. Service was nice and location relaxing and a nice vibe.

Party of 5 with 5 total entrees and an app. The app (mozzarella) was good, no issues. From the time we got our first entrees to the table, to the final one served, it took about 30 min. So we're just at the table waiting for everyone to be served wondering why someone couldn't organize/time our meals. The food was decent once we got it all (mostly cold at this point) but wildly disappointing to get the whole table served and enjoy a meal together. I see some good reviews but that was not our experience. It could've been a combination of misses in how the restaurant operated tonight. Second time coming here. First time wasn't great but not nearly this bad. Maybe they were short staffed or there was no manager on duty but pretty rough. I don't recommend but if you go, prepare to wait.

Two of us went to celebrate a birthday Wednesday night. I had never been, first appearance the restaurant and atmosphere looked inviting. That was until the waitress showed up. At first I thought she was shy as she clearly had not been trained on how to greet customers. I ordered a beer and my friend had a cocktail. Both arrived fairly timely. She took our order with no smile, not very helpful or engaging. That was about the last time we saw her. Food was delivered, we ended up asking a neighboring waitress to bring us water, which she did. After part of the table was cleared (by the other waitress, who didn’t have a heavy accent) she showed back up asking about water. Did not remove any dirty dishes or glasses and left. We ended up chatting for a while at the table, 8:49 pm she walks over and says they are closed and we need to go. I asked her when she thought she might clear the dirty dishes? She took the remaining plates/glasses away and walked off. We start to gather our belongings only to look inside and see 3 tables with people eating and drinking. Our waitress all up in the bartenders face in conversation. The restaurant wasn’t closed. She didn’t say thank you, nothing. Basically, a get out your no longer drinking or eating here “were closed” was a lie. I was in food service for years, she would have been fired on the spot. She was terrible!! It appeared all she cared about was the bartender. Won’t be back.

I don't love writing negative reviews, because I recognize people work hard to make places a success. However, our experience here was so unpleasant that it's worth letting others know. We tried to order beer, only to be told that there was no beer on draft at this "alehouse" because the machine was broken. And also most of canned and bottled beer was gone, too. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip as an appetizer. This included a plastic film from some food packaging. We then ordered mains for the four adults and our toddler. Three of the entrees appeared. The fourth did not. We were told it would be "right out," but the server suddenly ran to the machine and frantically entered some keys, strongly suggesting that they had just forgotten to put the order in. Five minutes. Ten minutes. Fifteen minutes. Twenty minutes. I would say that the missing entree finally appeared a good thirty minutes later, well after the rest of us had finished eating and we were dealing with a restless kid. One of us complained to the server about all of this and we received....five dollars off the bill. As for the actual food: it was, meh. My burger was average, but someone else complained that their "medium" burger was overdone to the point of being burnt. Certainly didn't warrant what felt like somewhat above average price points. On the plus side: the server was kind and brought our toddler crayons to color with. But still, our experience will lead us to avoid this place in the future.
