Irvine's BP is one of the BPs in so cal. The food is great but the wait time could be long. It's really popular especially during breaks. Great place for a quick lunch gathering!
The food tasted great. I ordered the miso, and one tip is not to eat it right away—wait until it boils or gets warmer because the toppings are cold at first. The service wasn’t very impressive; they didn’t bring us water until we asked. It’s a good place to visit on a cold day, and the portion size is quite large.
A Cozy Hot Pot Experience Worth the Hype! My husband and I decided on a spontaneous lunch date, and he suggested Boiling Point. He’s been there countless times and warned me that while the food is always amazing, the service can be hit or miss especially during peak hours. I’d seen similar comments in other reviews, so I went in curious to see for myself. We went on a Wednesday afternoon, and it was pretty quiet only a couple of tables were occupied. I ordered the Beef Hot Soup, and my husband wanted the lamb but settled for beef since it wasn’t available that day. You can add extras like glass noodles or rice for a small charge—I chose noodles, he went with rice. The portion size was perfect: hearty but not too heavy. The service was great, probably because it wasn’t too busy. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed—refills, check-ins, and even asked if we wanted the steam vented from our pot. I had zero complaints about the service during our visit. Now let’s talk about the food it was incredible. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the mix of ingredients was spot-on. I especially loved the tofu—there was one type I’d never had before that was soft, flavorful, and just amazing. I usually never finish my food, but I literally wiped the bowl clean. I got my soup mild, which was just right, but next time I’ll go for medium for a little more spice. The restaurant was clean, cozy, and smelled fantastic. I noticed they offer Boba drinks, and our waitress recommended the Jasmine Green Tea Boba, which I plan to try next time (I played it safe with a Coke this round). At the end of our meal, we were given a small digestive shot not alcohol, but something like aloe water with chia seeds. It was light, refreshing, and such a thoughtful touch after a rich meal. My husband mentioned they used to serve something different, so this seems like a nice new addition. I was honestly surprised to see this place rated around three stars, because my experience was definitely five-star worthy. Maybe we came at the perfect time, but everything from the food to the service was on point. If you’re craving hot pot, especially with cold weather coming, this is the perfect spot to warm up and enjoy a comforting, flavorful meal. I’m already planning my next visit!
It’s been a few years since I last came to eat here! That day, we ordered two hot pots and added some vegetables, noodles, and fish tofu. The hot pot ingredients were plentiful, and the milk broth was quite good. Overall, the service was also nice, and the food was served quickly. It would be even better if the complimentary drinks included a sugar-free option.
Boiling Point – Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot If you’re craving authentic Taiwanese spicy hot pot, this place is a must. The broth is flavorful, rich, and packs the perfect level of heat. Ingredients are fresh, and the portions are generous. Be prepared for a wait—there’s often a long line, and parking is limited. That said, the service is impressively quick once you’re seated, so the line moves faster than you’d expect. Worth every minute of the wait!
This restaurant has an amazing variety of hot pots. We ordered the House Special Hot Soup, Taiwanese Spicy Hot Soup, and Beef Soup. The portions are huge, with plenty of sliced meats, and the broths are rich and flavorful. They also offer free rice and vermicelli, plus a cup of winter melon tea or green tea with every order. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking to enjoy some delicious and unique hot pot flavors!
Fun experience! The soups are prepared with vegetables, a protein, tofu, and vermicelli/glass noodles. We ordered 3 soups (house special, beef #4, & curry ) and the broths were very tasty. You choose whether you want rice or vermicelli noodles, and the level of spiciness (mild was just right). The service was amazing, servers were very attentive, asking if we wanted more broth, if we wanted our pot 🔥on/ off, and etc. Located in a corner of the shopping center.
You know that one restaurant you were eating at since you were little and still go to to this day? For me, it's Boiling Point and they've been around for 20 YEARS! (Wow, I've just aged myself, haven't I?) I remember having to grab the sauces yourself at a little sauce cart at their OG Hacienda Heights location. I have SO many memories here and so many favorites, but the 臭臭鍋 (Taiwanese stinky hot pot) will always have my heart. Some things have changed, like their BRAND NEW drinks menu, but the taste is always just like how I remember it to be~ Thanks for reading! ^-^
Worst service ever by Chris L! Super rushed and mumbled every word! Couldn’t understand a word he’s saying. The only tip we are leaving is the super sweet and iced green tea because we didn’t have time to ask for no sweet and no ice! The TRAINEE even got the bills mixed up, kept sending us the check and card from the next table, and billed our table on their card, causing so much confusion and delay. If you don’t want to work on New Year’s Eve just stay home. Nobody forces you to work… Food was ok but inconsistent though. I recommend take out if you want the food.
Was there a change in management? Loved coming here years ago but somehow the wait times are longer and the service gets worse every time I come here. I always hope things improve but some how they disappoint every time. In terms of the store style and vibe They’ve toned down the uniqueness and asianness in favor of blandness. If im at boiling point I’m expecting to hear Jay Chou not 102.7 kisfm Things more expensive too but I assume that’s the corporate side. Cheaper but smaller portions, so if you want to be satisfied you’ll to have your own hotpot and additional meat plates. I used to be able to share one regular hotpot and be satisfied. And they got rid of the free jelly You’ll wait a long time (2 hours. But I assume it’s because of the weekend and the ABUNDANCE of “trainees”. They used to be able to hold on to experienced waiters.) and you’ll be lucky if they notice you want to order, whether because they’re new or just too busy
What a disappointment. I usually come to boiling point for dinner, and this time I came with a couple and another homie. The couple decided to share a pot but they order 4 extra plates of meats and extra noodles. One of the staff Daniel, mentioned that rice is refillable. Keeping that in mind, I finished my bowl of rice and tried to get refill with another staff called Luke. He proceeded to count the pots on our table (3) and told me there will be a charge. He said that there is a charge for rice if the pot to people ratio is not balanced. I told him I understand if he is afraid that we might abuse the system and share the rice amongst ourselves, but I just wanted to have the rice and the couple who was sharing even ordered extra noodles . He then rejected me. Considering how many sides were ordered I just thought he was being inflexible. For a big restaurant chain they can’t even uphold their refillable rice promise. Disappointing customer service. Shout out to Daniel for trying to help me with it, but salty Luke rejected his kind service.
Boiling Point is a family favorite. However this is the second time staff has been so rude. I'm used to the old system where you took a ticket...we moved away and now see that you scan the QR Code to be added to the waiting list. The text said to check-in with the staff at the counter. However we waited inline quite awhile without anyone saying anything. So I asked a staff member with a mask and glasses...he yelled something back but I couldn't understand him or read his lips. I use hearing aids and forgot to wear them this particular day. It definitely felt like they were ignoring us. They gave us our food which was amazing as usual but didn't give us our rice. I had to rely on my son and husband to communicate because in this particular environment; it was hard for me to hear with my hearing loss issues. Love the food but service is quite bad.
Super disappointed by our experience this time. I ordered a non-spicy lamb soup but was given medium spice with too much chili oil. Flavor was good but the spice stopped me from eating more than 1/3 of the pot. I didn't think it was worth calling waitstaff over when I had already touched the food and decided we wouldn't be coming back in the future. This isn't the Boiling Point experience I remember and I'm sad they've dropped in quality of service
Extremely disappointed. I found a short black hair right in the middle of my food (as shown in the photo). This is absolutely disgusting and a major food safety concern. I have long hair myself, so there is no doubt this came from the kitchen. It’s clear that the staff are not following proper hygiene protocols.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Lots of servers working but extremely bad service. I was really looking forward to eating here as I’ve been to many other BP locations but never this one closest to us. We wasted almost an hour here today with our baby from 2:45 pm. We signed up for the waitlist and waited 15 minutes for an open table (there were a bunch available but had not been cleaned yet). After checking in, we waited another 15 minutes of being ignored at the podium. Finally after flagging someone down, someone seated us and after 10 minutes of nobody coming to take our order, we decided to leave to go eat somewhere else. It seemed like all of the servers were working on takeout orders and only a trainee was running around trying to service the tables. It almost seemed like they were avoiding the tables because everyone had to flag down a server for any service. As much as I love BP, I’m sad to say I will probably never be back to this location.
As a fan of this restaurant, I have visited many times, but this is my first time coming to the Irvine branch. The food is still top-notch, but the service in the store made both me and my companions very unhappy. A service staff wearing glasses couldn't even look at you politely or answer your questions when you asked about the meal. We didn't feel any service or enthusiasm at all! It's really bad!
