La Segunda Bakery and Cafe is a popular spot known for its Cuban sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. Customers rave about the fresh bread, especially in the Cuban sandwich, and the guava and cheese pastries. Some find the coffee too strong and note slightly higher prices.

Awesome Cuban bread. Pastries were all delicious too. Separate coffee bar so you don’t have to stand in the food line and vice versa. Both lines went really fast. Check out all of the pastries in my video.
Busy little place putting out great Cuban sandwiches. In my opinion the best bread on a Cuban I've ever had. The coffees are absolutely on point and the Secret Sauce they put on the sandwiches is something special. I guarantee once you've had one of the sandwiches you'll be hard-pressed to find better bread.
This location is my favorite. Excellent food and outstanding service. The pastries are phenomenal and so much to choose from. Limited vegan options but the avocado toast is great. Fluffy egg sandwich with a good amount of filling hits the spot. Smoothest cold brew too! Ample outside seating and crispy coke fountain soda is worth mentioning!
As a local business owner with Heaven Sent Roofing, we truly appreciate strong local staples that serve the community well, and La Segunda Bakery and Cafe is exactly that. This place is a Tampa icon. The Cuban bread is baked fresh daily, the sandwiches and pastries are top tier, and the coffee is always on point. It’s a great spot to grab breakfast or lunch, meet with team members, or support a long-standing family business that’s been part of the Tampa community for generations. Friendly staff, authentic atmosphere, and consistently excellent food. Highly recommend supporting this local gem.
Had breakfast at La Segunda this morning before heading to a Bucs football game. We arrived at 1020 am and it was not packed. You order your food at the register and then take your seat. The young lady at the register was friendly. We received our food pretty quickly. We ordered a breakfast ham and cheese sandwich. The Cuban bread was soft yet crunchy. We were too full to eat the papa relleno, pastelito, or chicken empanada so we took them to go. There are Togo plates at the exit to easily grab. The restaurant was clean and well kept. My husband’s only complaint was that it didn’t seem like anyone spoke Spanish and it’s a Cuban restaurant.
We loved this place. We had a small Cuban sandwich and a breakfast sandwich and cafe con leche. The food was excellent. The service was great. The staff was friendly. We ordered at the counter in the left as you walk in. They have us a number and asked it name. Our coffee came from the counter on the right and they called my name. The food came out based on the number. I want to try every sandwich on the menu.
La Segunda is open for breakfast and lunch. They have a full bakery (I wish I'd taken photos) and sandwich menu, but to be honest I'd go back for the Cuban coffee alone - it's that good. A friend that accompanied on my most recent trip hadn't stopped talking about the Cuban sandwich since. La Segunda is 100% worth a trip.
Breakfast here with my colleague Is a very good place they have planty of sandwiches choices for breakfast and lunch and is awesome. They also have amazing taste sweet. Coffe is little bit too strong for me But really nkce place
La Segunda Bakery and Cafe on Kennedy Ave is absolutely amazing! The Ham and Swiss sandwich was fresh, perfectly pressed, and loaded with flavor, while the Media Noche was the real star—soft, sweet bread packed with savory ham, Swiss, pork, salami, pickles, and their signature sauce. The quality and authenticity in every bite make this place a true Tampa treasure. Fast, friendly service and a welcoming vibe keep us coming back for more. If you’re craving classic Cuban sandwiches and pastries, this spot is a must-visit!
OMG had to have a Cuban sandwich while in Tampa. and La Segunda is the place to come get one. It was oh so delicious with just the right amount of meat. Yes, and had to get a flip gauva turnover for later... yummy 😋
La Segunda Bakery and Cafe is one of our go-to spots for breakfast, and it never disappoints. You can never go wrong with the classic combo of Cuban toast and a café con leche; comforting, flavorful, and always made just right! The breakfast sandwiches are another solid choice…hearty, fresh, and perfect for starting the day off right. Whether we’re ordering in for the office or grabbing something quick, La Segunda always delivers quality and flavor. A true Tampa gem!

This place is special. Space has a great feel/ vibe to it - urban rustic, and the smell of fresh baked bread and espresso fills the air when you walk in. Nice displays and everything looked amazing! Ordered pastries, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The guava and cheese flip was phenomenal, only wish there would have been more cheese in it, but the texture of the pastry was on point. The Cuban bread they serve is world class! Definitely recommend and will return again when we come back to Orlando and Tampa
I turned to the Internets and Yelp for guidance on the best Cubano in Tampa, and the consensus was clear: La Segunda. So when the team asked where we were going for lunch, I pointed us straight here. Four of us arrived around 11:45 to a short queue and a warm, efficient staff who took our order. Within five minutes, our sandwiches were at the table. My Cubano was excellent. Pressed flat with the right balance of ham, salami, roast pork, and Swiss cheese, plus just enough mustard to tie it all together. Absolute perfection. No notes. I've heard this place can get wildly busy, so for early January I was surprised the line wasn't longer. Maybe we lucked out today, because this was fantastic.
Hands down the best Cuban sandwich ever! Cuban sandwiches are my favorite sandwiches so I make sure to try them wherever I go in my quest to find an amazing one. La Segunda consistently beats every other Cuban sandwich by a lot. Their bread is just too good and they pile on the ingredients.

The Bible tells us that "Man cannot live on bread alone," but La Segunda has taught me that bread—when shared with the right people—can nourish something far deeper than hunger. I've been coming to this location for several years now, initially drawn by the famous Cuban toast and excellent coffee. What keeps bringing me back, though, isn't what's on the menu—it's who's behind the counter. Somewhere between my first visit and now, this place stopped being a restaurant and became something more like home. The staff here doesn't just serve you; they welcome you into their fold with a warmth that feels genuinely familial. New Momma Jay greets everyone with an infectious joy that transforms the room the moment she arrives. Her radiant smile and spirited personality have a way of putting people at ease, making even Monday mornings feel a little brighter. Cool Karan moves through the space with an effortless grace, delivering orders while trading good-natured banter about our local teams. There's an art to making people feel seen while keeping things running smoothly, and he's mastered it. Behind the scenes, Steady Danika works with quiet intensity, crafting what I'm convinced is the strongest and finest coffee in town. Her steady presence is the backbone of this place. Babyface Rodrigo always takes your order with genuine interest, asking about your day in a way that feels sincere rather than scripted. That kind of authentic care is rare. And Older Sister Stateswoman Beth—calm, collected, and wise—holds it all together with the steady hand of someone who understands that what they're really serving here isn't just breakfast, but community. This staff has created something special: a place where you don't feel like a customer, but like family stopping by for morning coffee. They've reminded me that sometimes the most nourishing thing isn't the food itself, but the people you break bread with. Thank you all for giving us more than a meal. You've given us a place to belong.
Always get a Cuban sandwich when in Tampa, usually at The Columbia. Also have been reading about La Segunda for years, but have never given them a try. This trip I discovered the shop on Kennedy and since it was more convenient than driving to Ybor City I finally got to try them and they did not disappoint! I was able to place the order on line for take out and it was ready as promised- even extra crispy they way I like them. Perfect Cuban sandwich! Atmosphere was clean and friendly, but not the charm and history of The Columbia. Since I was getting take out it was perfect.
I have been in Tampa for a long time now and had never visited the famous La Segunda Bakery. We wanted to sit down and eat so we chose the Kennedy Avenue location over the original location due to that. The place is very ample and spacious with plenty of tables and seats. The booth was comfortable, but I do have to say that the floor and some of the tables were not very clean. Debris and other items strewn about. That being said, the food was excellent, and well worth it. I would definitely come back here.
This is lovely place to be. Their pastries look so good when you come in the store. It is easy and simple to order. They will give you the number. It is a little confusing because you have to listen to the number when they called out. You have to go to the bar to pick up your coffee or drink from the barista. Then you have to listen to your number again because this person will bring out the foods and call out the number to find you. That's why we were so confused. Also the parking is very limited because some parking space are 15 minutes limit. But I do enjoyed the pastries and the cafe con leche.

Super sweet nice counter girl. She was very attentive and helpful. The food was good. Had 2 sandwiches which came out as ordered. Had 2 different pastries which was delicious. I left a nice tip as usual and the only reason I mentioned this is because I didn't have any forks or napkins in the bag. Lately whenever I get food to go few establishments put plastic wear in the bag? The location was pretty clean.
Went to get the berns anniversary steak sandwich and it's definitely not worth the hype or $18. I got the last of a few at 11am. Was expecting chunks of ribeye and it was really just Philly meat. I love truffle too and the sauce didn't really hit. This was definitely a miss for me. Ordered a media noche as well and that was much better than the over hyped steak sandwich. The service was a fast as it could be for how packed it was. Waited about 30 mins for my order, but the girls were coming out left and right pushing them out quickly.
South Tampa prices, but not the cleanliness or quality that should command. $20.81 for a Cuban, small drink and chips. 15% tip. Don’t know why anyone would tip more at cafeteria but that was the lowest option. One half of the sandwich was missing 25% of the bottom bread. Meat is still higher quality than most Cuban places. But $21 and that’s the quality. Plus the restrooms are destroyed. Out of paper towels, trash over flowing. Mopped yesterday. Maybe.

The breakfast sandwich was okay. The cafe con leche was good.
Drove from Wesley Chapel to get take out. Wanted 5 deviled crabs and this location only had two. Ordered 12” Cubans and got 9”. Ugh! Will go to Ybor location in the future to see if there is improvement. Hope so as the food is really good but this aspect has to improve!! You think they would have thrown a pastry in for all of the issues!
I ordered what I thought was a cuban sandwich. It was not pressed. It had salami and honey mustard! Cubans don’t put salami and honey mustard. It fell apart while i was eating it. Maybe these people need to go to Miami and learn how a cuban sandwich is made and how to properly press a sandwich. I paid $23 that’s with tip and it was not worth my money.
Ordered a BLT. It should be called an LT cause you put 2 pieces of bacon on a big Cuban. I had to take off some lettuce cause they had so much. If that’s the amount you give out normally then you should have an option to add more bacon.

I typically enjoy visiting La Segunda Central Bakery on Kennedy and have had positive experiences in the past. Unfortunately, today was very different. I was planning to celebrate an employee achievement, and they chose La Segunda for the occasion. After collecting my team’s orders, I attempted to place them online, only to see a message at checkout stating that online orders were no longer being accepted. Confused, I called the bakery — where the automated recording stated that all orders are now accepted online. The contradiction was frustrating. When I pressed 0 to speak with a manager, the customer service experience only worsened. I understand that businesses get busy, but there is no need to be dismissive or raise your voice to a customer. I was repeatedly told there was a 30-minute wait and that online ordering had been turned off, but the tone and delivery were unnecessarily unpleasant. A basic principle of customer service is that a smile can be heard through the phone — unfortunately, that was not the case here. As a result, I had to make last-minute arrangements to celebrate my employee at another establishment. I hope La Segunda addresses both the communication inconsistencies and customer service approach moving forward. Do better, La Segunda.
