Opiniones de Empanada Kitchen La Jolla
I tried all empanadas thanks to the owner! He gave few extra on the house :) He was really kind and empanadas were blast! My favourite one is the one with goat cheese and mushroom. Highly recommended!
I loved it! The empanadas were amazing, so flavorful. Also as an Argentinian, it’s nice to have a place were they actually make Argentinian empanadas! We had mushrooms and goat cheese, corn and beef! All five starts and the Alfajores de Maicena too!
Cute little spot for empanadas. They have specials of the day which seem to change everyday. The special empanada of the day when I went was chicken pesto. I decided to do the three empanadas for $11.95. Unfortunately they had ran out of beef so I was not able to try that. I got two chicken pesto and one caprese empanada. They were all pretty good. They are all placed in the same box and are actually labeled within the empanada at the very top with two letters. There is also a card that comes with it to illustrate the abbreviation for each type of empanada in case you don’t know which is which. The salsas we got were chimichurri they have spicy and non spicy I believe but honestly the so called spicy was not at all spicy. My friend ordered an alfajor as well which was soft and delicious.
This place slaps! The line for the taco stand was out of control, so we risked it for the biscuit and gave the empanadas a try. No regrets - so many flavors, quick service, good price. Will be back again soon. Stoked to have a place to go to get a quick empanada fix!
I tried this place out while I was in San Diego, Ca. My mother used to make empanadas for us growing up so I had to stop there and check them out. Initially when I walked in I was like okay they may be decent but I after I ordered and sat down, ate and tasted the empanadas. Man I was taken by surprise! I didn’t expect them to be that good honestly. I finished my first order and went and order 2 more lol. I would suggest this place to any tourist, visitor going to San Diego.
If I had to give two words to sum up my dinner it would be, "Absolutely scrumptious!" These are authetic Argentinian empanadas. They also have a special ever day for 3 empanadas. I had the spicy beef empanadas and two lamb empanadas. They were both incredible but the lamb was just so incredible and original, it stood out as a dish or Argentinian food experience. Highly recommend .... plus, no wait and friendly staff.
You there 🫵. I see you in line at Taco Stand. Just come on over. It's super good and you'll be eating your food in 5 minutes.

It was delicious and easy to order. We loved the mushroom and goat cheese and ratatouille! The sauce is so good and you can always ask for more!
Visited today with my family. We were in town for my sister's wedding and decided to try it. The woman working today was so lovely! The beef empanadas were delicious. Everyone left incredibly happy.
Absolutely excellent Empanada served by an owner that enjoys what he does. Tiny shop, design is a bit more lunch oriented, but my wife and I dropped in for dinner and had a great experience.
Came looking for a good meal on a rainy day… Sam was there and gave some recommendations. 10 out of 10 would go there again, truly authentic and a nice relaxing atmosphere.
Oliver was the most amazing worker! He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy the food! It was amazing by the way! Such a great spot to fill up at:)
I love this place! I visit every time I’m in town, they have stellar food at a very reasonable price. I’d highly recommend it!!
SENSATIONAL LUNCH ! My wife and I were down in La Jolla this morning taking care of business. LUNCH ! We penciled in this empanada place for lunch while in the area. Of course around Pearl Street it is always going to be difficult to find a street parking spot but in the end we did. We stepped inside around 12.45pm...lovely bright friendly interior colors. In fact it shared the space with the burger joint on the corner. A smiling cashier named Caroline ( the manager ) welcomed us. After checking out the menu we ordered 4 Empanadas...1 x Sweet Corn & Basil, 1 x Beef, 1 x Caprese, 1 x Ham & Cheese, 2 x Alfajores ( Maizena & Chocolate ) and a Fiji bottled water. INCREDIBLE SERVICE ! Caroline presented our lunch order neatly on nice paper plates. WHOO HOO ! And we totally enjoyed our fresh baked scrumptious Empanadas with some Chimichurri Sauce...and the delectable Alfajores were a treat. NICE SELECTION ! We are huge empanada fans and the menu was worth exploring further so we bought a dozen to go ( 2 x Beef, 2 x Chicken, 2 x Ham & Cheese, 2 x Caprese, 2 x Sweet Corn & Basil, 2 x Mushroom & Goat Cheese ) plus another Chocolate Alfajore for my wife & 2 x Apple Pie ( empanadas ) for me. The quality is high, the prices are good and the service is exceptional. HARD TO BEAT !
DELICIOUS DINNER ! We tried the empanadas here a few weeks ago just before moving house to La Jolla...and they were great. On Sunday we drove over here for a tasty dinner and to pick up a dozen for home. Oliver the cashier looked after us nicely when we walked inside around 6pm. My wife ordered 1 x Sweet Corn & Boil and 1 x Mushroom & Goat Cheese while I wanted 1 x Beef and 1 x Ratatouille aka Veggie. For dessert my wife chose a Chocolate Alfajore and I went for an Apple Pie ( empanada ). We asked Olive for iced waters which he promptly fetched fore us. IT'S ALL GOOD ! We totally enjoyed our laid back dinner..nice and quiet inside. TAKE OUT ! I picked out a dozen + one from the warmer ( our preference to frozen ones which are only cooked on the inside ) to take home...2 x Beef, 2 x Chicken, 2 x Ham & Cheese, 2 x Sweet Corn & Basil, 2 x Mushroom & Goat Cheese, 1 x Caprese, 1 x Veggie and 1 x Apple Pie. Oliver also gave us a few sauces for our empanadas. HARD TO BEAT !

Delicious empanadas! We were in La Jolla today looking for something to eat and we found this lovely restaurant. We tried the mushrooms & goat and the beef empanadas. Both were yummy. The chimichurri sauce was on point. We will return and try other flavors.
Yum! Pretty tasty empanadas. Crispy texture and they don't skimp on the filling. My family grabbed a few empanadas while waiting in line for The Taco Stand. We got the Ham & Cheese, Ratatouille, and Caprese. All were flavored well and came out piping hot! I was surprised the caprese was really creamy, but overall delicious. The Ham & Cheese and Ratatouille were exactly what you'd expect.

The food was ok. I don't think I'll be back (at least to this location). I have had their other location on El cajon blvd a few times in the past and always enjoyed it but unfortunately this location taste different. The dough itself was chewy, almost like it was stale and two of the empanadas were also burnt a little. The filling was okay on the beef. The corn and basil one was okay, I'm not sure what other spice they added, maybe clove but it was over powering. They also only give you a small amount of chimichurri, less than a tablespoon. - I'd still encourage you to try it yourself. Another customer said it was the best he's had, so maybe it's just me who didn't enjoy.

Came once before and thought the empanadas were delicious. Just came in for a second time and had the worst experience ever! First off, the person who was there was on the phone and sitting with his laptop. My husband was with a menu ready to order and o asked him to please give me the bathroom code (I was literally about to pee my pants) and he was incredibly RUDE and said it wasn't a public restroom. I told him multiple times that we were there to buy empanadas and that we've been there before and he basically kept saying that it wasn't a public restroom. I literally said please that it was an emergency and he just kept saying that we had to buy the empanadas first. During this entire time he was on his phone and my husband was standing in front of him with the menu ready to order! We will never be back. Horrible experience!
Quality of the empanadas isn't the same since the new owner took over about a month ago. the old employees who worked here before were way more chill and welcoming. There is only one guy who runs this place now and he's always on his laptop or on the phone with someone.
