We went to Karavalli for Valentine’s day and were incredibly satisfied by the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and, above all, the courtesy of the staff. The owner was very welcoming and made sure we were taken care of. We were seated within a few minutes, and the food was brought to us promptly. We had the Tandoori Wings, Paneer, and Tandoori Medley and were pleasantly surprised by not just the taste but the authenticity of the meals. Will definitely be back soon!

This is the rare Indian restaurant that understands what vegan food means and has a separate vegan section on the menu. Their staff is also knowledgeable and helpful about vegan food, especially Akhil who was a pleasure to deal with. Their lunch buffets also have vegan options.

I genuinely have no complaints about this place. The food is absolutely fantastic. The last time I went, I brought my almost 2 year old and the treatment from staff wasn't "oh great, I little kid making a mess" it was "great! Look at the kid! Let's get her some crayons and her own drink.". Service was great the whole time and we felt so welcomed. Definitely worth it to come and get your fill of a fabulous time and food.

Almost two weeks ago I have been to Karavalli. Apologies for late review. Food was between good and exceptional. Liked their samosa chat. But loved their Mysore Dosa. There were potato filling inside. I did not realize it would be that much big while I was ordering. Spinach kofta was a good option for vegetatian. I am not sure but the kofta might have binded by cheese or paneer. Loved that dish too. Garlic Naan was too good! I loved the seating arrangements. I believe they have arrangements for every number of guests. The distance between tables are not far. Overall my experience was excellent with the hospitality of them.

Clean, professional, great service…..with a bar and deliver delicate touch of southern India…simply Wow!! Everything we got was fantastic. The veggie appetiser platter was flavorful without being dry or oily despite it being all fried. I chose wisely in the lamb kabob masala, super rich creamy, just incredible especially paired with the paneer naan. I could have had it a little more spicy. My wife got a vegetarian dish, palak with chickpeas and potatoes, also very good but very filling too. One of the best meals I've ever had out at any restaurant. Oh the tamarind margarita is killer.

Been here many times for lunch and dinner, and yesterday I met up with several friends for lunch. A few of them had come up from Kingston, so it was their first time eating there and they look forward to returning! Karavalli staff happily took the time to show us the many vegan selections on the buffet, how to eat the pani-puri, and even made vegan roti for us! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, as well as the courteous attentiveness of the staff. Unfortunately, I was too busy eating and talking to think about taking pics - maybe next time. Another enjoyable experience and will return again soon!

Food is delicious. Only negative is the time it takes for your food to come out. If your short on time get it to go. Plan on being there about an hour or so...but if you have the time it is definitely worth the wait.

Excellent spot, you’d never expect it to be SO nice from the outside. The moment you step in the door the scents of really amazing Indian food hits you sideways. You can tell immediately that you’re not in low end dining. The staff are extremely tentative (almost too much so) as I was asked by 3 people how they can help me in less than 7 seconds. The food takes a minute to get out because it’s not a buffet or basic bowl dining experience. Definitely worth a try if you like traditional fine dining.

Great selection of food items with an abundance of protein choices. All portions were generous, with the exception of the Malai Kofta having a lot of delicious gravy but only four veggie dumplings. We really enjoyed the flavor of everything, and I greatly appreciate it that they left off the cilantro upon request as I'm one of those individuals who cannot stand the taste of cilantro.

Yes. The answer is yes, go here. You will not be disappointed whatsoever. The moment I walked through the door I knew I was going to really enjoy my time and the food. I honestly don't have much to say other than Karavalli is now my standard for Indian restaurants! The flavors were strong and not overwhelming, you can tell all the food was fresh, and the portions were just right (I have leftovers and I'm so very excited about that!). The customer service was spot-on, absolutely no complaints just compliments! For my first visit here I was left ready for my next of many visits so I can go through their extensive Vegan Menu, and then I'll go through their Vegetarian Menu, and then their Seafood Menu. I absolutely don't see my trips here stopping anytime soon! Oh, and they make a really good drink! For not having much to say, Karavalli has me saying a lot! You're going to really enjoy your time here, so again, the answer is YES!

Delicious food, great service! We had samosas, idlis, aloo mushroom chettinadu, and the veggie phaal, everything was very good. Also, if you're vegan, this is the Indian place for you! They have a whole page of vegan options. If we spend the money to go out, I want it to be better than i could make myself and Karavalli delivered!

1st time visiting Karavalli in Latham and it was such a great experience. From the tasteful decor to the nice, attentive service and of course the delicious food! We started with the veg samosas, tamarind eggplant and the fried mushrooms. These all came out at the same time shortly after ordering and we're delicious. Our waiter had also previously taken our entree orders, rack of lamb Malabar and vegetable masala, he timed it perfectly having the entrees arrive 5 minutes after the appetizers were cleared. We were offered dessert but unfortunately had to make show at the local theater. The food is second to none and the service was attentive, fast and pleasant. The price for our gluttonous dinner for 2 was incredibly reasonable. I've spent far more on far less food and service. Go, but be warned... They have there "heat peppers dialed in so well that if it says it's 4 peppers? You had better like hot.. likewise if it says mild it is thankfully for my wife's sake. Spicy or mild you can't go wrong at Karavallis!

I love karavalli so much. It is genuinely the standard by which I compare any other restaurant. The vibe inside is really welcoming and the staff are always so kind and attentive. The food gives me goosebumps it’s so good ! The portion sizes are big and usually the paneer masala (my constant) lasts me for three meals. The lunch buffet is 100% worth it too. For real my favorite restaurant in the area and the whole experience is very cosy.

One of many great meals at Karavalli. Seems to get better all the time. Quiet when we arrived for an early reservation. Seated promptly, a bit difficult to get a waitperson at first but after that great service. The waiter/bartender took extra care either a cosmopolitan order placed a certain way and took it upon himself to add a bit of an ingredient not normally included. It was wonderful. For an appetizer rather than the usual fried fare we shared a spring dosa, sort of a large pancake filled with veggies and a bit of cheese. Delicious. Dinner was vegetables Malabar for one of us…..vegetables in a mild coconut based curry. Spouse had half of the Tandoori chicken, perfectly done and spiced, and I had prawns melee, a plate with large shrimp in a coconut based curry, rice, broccoli, and garlic naan. Compel and I enjoy it more every time. Best Indian food we have had in Albany and maybe anywhere.

I ordered the tamarind margarita; hubs ordered the old fashioned. I got the chicken korma and veggie samosas, hubs got the goat chettinadu and garlic naan. Both drinks and food were phenomenal! I’ve never had Indian cuisine this good, nor have I had a margarita this delicious. The entire meal was a sensory experience. Our server, Akil, was kind, attentive, and a lovely conversationalist. I stopped by Karavalli in Latham for their lunch buffet, and it was absolutely delicious! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and you can tell they put real care into the food. The chicken tikka masala was the standout for me, creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced. I also loved the gulab jamun for dessert, warm, sweet, and just the right texture. I finished off with a madras coffee, which was the perfect way to wrap up the meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, and I loved the new wall artwork, pictured below. Absolutely loved this place! The Indian food was flavorful and authentic—especially the samosa chaat and chili paneer—and the Tamarind Margarita was a unique and delicious twist. The service was outstanding: staff were attentive, well-trained, and perfectly timed everything from water refills to food delivery. Our waiter, Akhil, was incredibly kind and made the experience even better by surprising us with a homemade dessert treat—it was like a tiramisu cake (without coffee) and absolutely amazing! They could’ve made the food mediocre and it would still be good value, yet they ensured the food was stunningly delicious. Me and my roommates went there on last Saturday to have dinner. As all three of us belong to South Asian Countries, so we preferred to have Indian food. One of us chose to have Mysore Masala Dosa and the rest chose Chicken Faal and Vegetable Vindaloo. Rice was served alongwith the dishes and it’s enough for both of us. We also ordered Mango Lassi and Chaye (tea). The lassi was good and as I felt thirsty I drank all of it at once. The taste of Chicken faal was good as it seemed to me cheese was also put in spices and also the chicken was well cooked but it's a spicy dish. Vegetable Vindaloo was one of it's kind spicy! It was so much for me that we just couldn’t have it further after one spoon. So if you are not well accustomed to have much spicy food then please just avoid this dish. I felt really uncomfortable after having it and my health didn’t do well. But the ambience and overall food experience was good and the staffs were really well mannered and kind. For the next time I would love to have Dosa from here as my friend told it was really good, be it in texture or size or be it about taste. Thank you!

The food here is excellent, but the service is glacial. It wasn’t busy but it still took about 15 minutes to get 3 cocktails, and I always had to call the server. Not one single time did they come to the table unsolicited to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. I may be wrong, but I would say that the servers here have never worked in the restaurant industry before.

The food was good, the prices were fair, however towards the end of the meal the waitress was rushing us out when they didn't close until 2 hrs later so I thought that was pretty rude. The manager was pleasant but the waitress could practice better customer service to promote customer retention. I would order take out from here in the future and I'd recommend this restaurant if you're looking for good Indian food.

Amazing authentic South Indian cuisine. Good proportion served. Many options to choose from (although some taste similar). The people are very cordial. Quality food, probably the best in the area

After all the good reviews, I went there for a buffet lunch. The experience was not great. My first round we took appetisers which were extremely spicy. We could not even finish it. The food overall was Okayish and limited options. The only good thing was the dessert which was a little too sweet but thanks to the spicy food, it felt good. The seating space is a little tight too. The waiters who carried the tray and the people walking kept bumping my seats whenever they passed by the table.

Food is good, but with a lot of cream and butter to make up for spices. The service is omnipresent, and the atmosphere is best described as ‘noisy’, but modern.

Good ambience inside. But our order arrived so late! We were really disappointed. The starters were good especially the dry chilli chicken. The complementary papad served were inedible barely done 😒. The biriyani was okay too nothing much to say. Quantity was decent but the mutton dish! Omg what was it! It was so bad. It was literally mutton cooked in a spicy red pepper powder gravy!!! We ended up tossing it! At least the mango lasso was good. Not coming here again.

Karavalli had positives: nice atmosphere, good service, and my water was always refilled. The food was more mixed quality however: Samosas were a little off tasting- a bit like play doh, not sure if it was the oil they were fried with or the filling. Not my favorite compared to other Indian restaurants. The paneer masala was okay, not the most flavorful and i wish it had more paneer or other things inside. The biryani was decent, I like the orange peel- but also less flavorful than some other indian places I have recently been to. Overall decent food, I hope to come back again and try other dishes

Disappointing experience and a waste of money. I was surprised to see a 20% automatic gratuity added for , to-go order also ,along with an additional tip included in the bill. They also counted the kids in our group as full guests to meet the 5-person minimum required for the 20% surcharge. This felt unreasonable .. leaving us quite dissatisfied with the overall experience.

Owner and waiters are super rude. I went with my children in stroller and he said you can’t bring stroller inside. Their behavior was obnoxious saying people keep their children in car and eats in their restaurant. Are you for serious? You just serve some low quality chickens for a $26 buffet! The mutton’s don’t even have any meat only bones and fat! The food was below average at best! Still your behavior screams you are doing some kind of favor to the world! Get real! You have to accomodate people and behave nice. Why are you pretending like you are doing me a favor? I paid for my food, for some very low grade food! How dare you say I have to keep my children in car to eat at your low grade restaurant?

Waste of money. Not an authentic south indian cusine. Desis would not enjoy the food. Would not recommend or come here. Hospitality not good. Servers donot inform food content or aroma. Fish was not cooked properly, when asked her said that is how it is done.
