I live in Fort Worth, but am building a house in Hughes Springs. Sometimes the Mrs and I travel through here when vising our land and our daughter who lives in Shreveport. We have stopped at this location numerous times, as well as some other Texas Best locations east of Dallas. We love good BBQ and we love it here. The consistency of the food quality here and the other locations will keep us choosing this place over Buckeys or other competitors. The staff are great, courteous and professional. The other thing that keeps us visiting is that the bathrooms are always clean. Looking forward to my next visit.

I was blown away! The food was absolutely delicious, and they give great portions. I got the half chicken with two sides and it ran around $12. Worth every penny!

We stopped here while passing through on I-20. We are sure glad we did! They have the cleanest bathrooms you will find anywhere on the interstate. They also have delicious fried pies if you need a snack after your bathroom break!

These are the nicest and best people in Longview. Shay, the night manager, took time out of her busy schedule to help me with my disabled vehicle and was so nice and accommodating throughout. They had clean bathroom, good snacks, and they also have a fast charger for EV. Every time I come to Longview from now on, I will make sure I stop by and patronize their store. Great tasting BBQ. A little pricey but worth it. This is a travel center/truck stop limited truck parking that fills up fast. The staff is “Texas” friendly and makes you feel welcome. Clean restrooms, there is also a Sonic inside. Overall a fun little stop. One of my favorites

If you want to spend $9 on a meal and not smile afterwards, go somewhere else. If you don't mind spending a little more for something that puts a smile on your face, I recommend you treat yourself to a meal here. I spent $18.62 on just myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I will stop again sometime. :-) *update* I had the spaghetti chicken special tonight and it was delicious and under $10 total! Try it on Sunday or Tuesday with a roll or cornbread and 2 sides with a drink! Recommended. :-)

The food was absolutely amazing!!! All of the employees were so welcoming and made the entire experience there fun. We are so glad we came here and will ABSOLUTELY be coming back! Absolutely delicious texas barbecue! Today's special was beef tips in gravy and rice, two sides, corn bread, and a drink. Extremely healthy serving, enough for two people at an affordable price. Staff was very polite and friendly. I highly recommend this mouth watering restaurant.

Stopped in on a road trip and I’m still thinking about that Double Barrel Potato with brisket a week later. Seriously one of the best things I’ve eaten all year. Picture this: a massive baked potato split open and absolutely loaded with chopped brisket that’s tender, smoky, and has that perfect bark on the edges. Then they pile on melted cheddar, sour cream, butter, green onions, and a generous shake of their house rub. It’s pure Texas comfort food on steroids—rich, smoky, creamy, and somehow still feels like a meal you earned. The portion is huge; one potato easily fed me for lunch and dinner. Service was lightning fast and genuinely friendly. I walked in, ordered at the counter, and my food was up in under five minutes even though the place was hopping. The cashier called everybody “hon” or “boss” and meant it—you don’t get that kind of warmth at most travel-center BBQ joints. If you’re anywhere near I-20 in Longview, do yourself a favor and grab the Double Barrel Potato with brisket. It’s ridiculous in the best way possible. I’ll be detouring back here next time I’m within 100 miles. Texas Best indeed!

My family and I stop at this convenience store every time we make a trip to visit family. The staff are always friendly, bathrooms are clean and well-stocked, and the BBQ is divine! On our last visit, the owner even gave my toddler a rubber duck toy just because! I highly recommend you take the time to stop in if you ever find yourself driving through Longview on I-20. You won't be disappointed!

So my boyfriend and I are at the Hotel across the street and we decided to go get some Smokehouse. I talked to the man who was behind the counter cutting the meat. My bf and I share foods so we can try more new foods. He got the ribs and chicken with the potato salad and pasta salad as sides and I got the brisket I’ve been craving and I was going to get the ham but he suggested turkey with pasta salad and bacon ranch pasta as the sides. His plate: He said the smoke flavor is there in both meats but you need the BBQ sauce for sure. He wasn’t a big fan of the pasta salad because it tastes like it’s vinegar and olive oil but he liked the potato salad and corn bread. My plate: The best thing out of everything is that turkey! It IS NOT dry and it’s fall apart good with that smoke flavor… it’s so good you don’t need BBQ sauce. The brisket was good and juicy and falling apart and that smoked flavor is in it but you still need BBQ sauce but it was REALLY good still. I liked the pasta salad personally minus the raw broccoli LoL and I didn’t care for my bacon ranch pasta but my boyfriend liked it. And I did like the corn bread it was just like jiffy. But between the staff and the food it’s a 5 star rating for me! I would love to go back just to get the turkey for sure! I’m so glad he recommended it to me.

I am a truck driver. I had two mechanical problems with my truck and needed a place to pull over. It was chance to find this amazing place and people. They let me stay on pump 4 at the fuel island at 10:30 at night to get my tire repaired. Then a spot opened up in their parking lot. I spent my 34 hour reset here. The food is amazing, it’s so clean and friendly, the selection is off the chain.. adorable set up.. just nothing like I’ve ever seen across the United States for truck drivers.. Thank you 🙏🏻 I love this place.❤️

Absolutely love stopping here. Never disappoints!! They have a little bit of everything, the only thing I wish they had was more vegetarian and vegan options for meals... there isn't a lot of option besides meat. The restrooms there are always extremely nice and clean... however, gas is more expensive. Today, I got a German cake and it was delicious... it needed a little more nuts for my taste but other than that, it was great!

Found parking in a lot across the street as their lot was full at 6pm. Really large well stocked c store with good selection of beers. Got a 3 meat plate with dbl ribs and sausage. They added $2 for the extra ribs. Ribs were decent but a bit greasy and sausage was tasty! Hot bbq sauce was spicy. Sides were Mac and cheese which was great and some potatoes that really didn’t do much. They have LOTS of sides so plenty to choose from. I’d definitely go back and try some different items.

LOVE their beef jerky that the sell at the counter!! Nice that they will let you sample before you buy!!! I have also had their egg salad sandwich which was very tasty and a ham sandwich and chopped beef that were really good too. The staff has always been friendly and helpful when I have had any questions! I love this place!!!

It was pretty darn good, it was my first experience wirh Texas BBQ and fried pies. Growing up in Kansas City it was weird eating BBQ without sauce but the ribs were delicious. I had a peach fried pie and it was delicious. The staff was very hospitable and kind as well.

Only in Texas will you find a Texas Smokehouse and truck stop in one building! Limited parking in back for semis. 4 diesel w/def fuel aisle. Nice inside! Bathrooms needed to be cleaned.

No showers. Overall not a bad truck stop. I like how they include lettuce in the premade sandwiches in the convenience store section, and they have condiments at the register. Staff was helpful in letting me know where the nearest truck stop with showers is (at I-20 and Texas highway 42). I'd stop here again if I don't need a shower that badly.

What an excellent place. My wife and I live up in Idaho. We sure miss good Texas BBQ. We went here while traveling through the area. What a great meal we had.

It’s a beautiful place but the bbq sadly was not what expected, specially with a name like Best Smokehouse. Got ribs, chicken and brisket, tell me what does it say when the sides have more flavor than the meat? Without the bbq sauce on the side the meat was flavorless and dry, the ribs were somewhat decent though. It’s not in my nature to give bad reviews, but I was really disappointed with this purchase

I agree it is a nice place to stop but I do have a few complaints. The bathrooms are usually dirty and smell terrible. The staff is always friendly but the food is mediocre and over priced. Well actually everything there seems over priced. I work In the area and stop quite regularly so I hope someone actually reads this and takes a look at my remarks. For the life of me I can't figure out why these people don't know how to make a proper chopped brisket sandwich. Instead of cutting equally from both the point and the flat to have a good balance they trim from the flat leaving a dry flavorless overpriced sandwich. The only saving grace are the free topping of onions, peppers, pickles, and sauce. The sides are good. There are no showers or laundry here, the parking lot is small but there's another lot behind Dennys so in total there are about 30 spaces or so. The store itself is clean and has all the snacks and drinks you could want.

I ordered a 2 meat brisket & ribs. Brisket was not hot. Luke warm at best. Employees joking around & laughing with each other.

Nice truck stop facility that's reasonably clean with a good selection. Stopped in for some BBQ while on a road trip back to Houston. Service was fast for a 1 meat plate of sliced brisket and 2 sides, not overly expensive, but not cheap either. Only negative for me like other have mentioned in their reviews is that the meat is VERY dry, even a "moist" cut that I specifically asked for due to a personal swallowing difficulty. Sadly had to throw quite a bit of it out.

Very chincy on the meat this time and I ordered chopped beef and got home with big pieces of sliced in it too. I order chopped beef because it's easier to chew, but this time don't know what happened.

I've been here many times for breakfast and their breakfast is good and well priced. Today I stopped for lunch for the first time and I was shocked at how expensive it was. The food was okay. Nothing amazing. I won't ever come back for lunch again. That's the price of a full service restaurant.

Trying some bbq in Texas is a must for visitors.. The state of Texas has some of the best bbq in the United States, if not the world.. This Texas Best Smokehouse is about average.. The food is ok, but I can't say it's the best in the whole state.. Several options are available to fit your hunger needs.. The restaurant has a great set-up for the family, and that Texas traditional vibe.. If the food quality was just alittle better(tastier), maybe this would be "Texas Best Smokehouse".. The ambience makes this a cool place to stop by.. Bathrooms are pretty clean, and kept up.. Overall I think it's worth your time for a visit..

Stopped for the night on 1/11/26 @ approximately 1pm. Once parked decided to have lunch and relax after. Went with the brisket with potato salad and green beans. The lady serving wasn’t a great listener and got a little twisted up assuming and not asking questions. I distinctly told her as she was making a 2-go plate for customer ahead , I wanted same thing. She then started an inside plate. Once with a 2-go box her personality became more like one of a crocodile. After I saw what the serving size of brisket was going to be, asked if she could double it(5.40 oz). I’m a nearly 65 year old male truck driver and was hungry. Was served a happy meal for $21.64. Think the serving of potatoe salad was the biggest portion. If you want good(not great)barbecue and pay an exorbitant amount for it and get poor service thrown in this is the place for you. The meat portion could have been bigger and only received 1ea small plastic container of barbecue sauce after doubling the meat.? The cashier at least was more friendly apparently losing focus as her and the server were engaged in a conversation and neither one could converse and serve food at the same time. I had an unpleasant experience at a newer Texas Best facility over in Corsicana, TX and got mostly fatty caramelized meat and paid handsomely for it too. Not a big fan of the Texas Best Smokehouse now as they make you feel cheated to eat the barbecue and shop in their expensive stores. Bring lots of $$$ if you stop.

Okay lunchtime long line two plates 15.99 for a sausage sandwich. I know tariff but there is no way that this is correct. What an amazing wrong choice for lunch they charge like they are fine dining. I understand it’s meat and it’s smoked but stopped price gouging. The sides are not that expensive. All I can do is shake my head and I love bbq. Wont eat lunch like that again. :( so sad

Haven't been here in Years, FOOD is GREAT still. Parking is IFFY. On a side note, I needed to order an AMAZON PACKAGE and got Approval day Prior by a MANAGER. ORDER Said package and had sent to Store. I again called day of Drlivery to day HEy, this is SO on and I have Package being Delivered from Amazon. Spoke with a wont day employee about it and said she'd watch out for it. Once I got a MESSAGE showing package arrived, I called back again to confirm they got it and they said YES. The side note is, the Employee asked what it was I had delivered, what was Inside PACKAGE and then heard a PACKAGE noise being sealed back up. Once I arrived, I my package and saw that my ITEM and AMAZON PACKAGE have both been OPENED!!!!!! I stood there for a moment checked everything and all was there. It has me WONDERING why was my package opened, when I CALLED earlier. Side note, if yii have a package being sent here. DON'T as it may be STOLEN!!!!!! Have a Great day.

I had the brisket meal. The brisket portion was not flavorful at all and didn't even fill the bun up. For 20$ with two tiny sides, I need flavor. The employees that served me didn't seem very nice. It's Iike attitude 😒.

Not really sure how I feel about this one. I got the 3 meat combo with ribs brisket and chicken. When the lady pulled the brisket out it looked amazing juicy tender looking but once it was on my plate a total different story. Brisket was very dry and unseasoned no real taste but still not the worst I’ve ever had. Chicken was a bit dry but edible skin on the chicken a tad bit rubbery. Ribs were good I can honestly say… clean bite not fall off the bone which I prefer a clean bite rib over fall off the bone but the star of the show was the baked beans and cole slaw but the sides shouldn’t overshadow the meat. Really feel a little disappointed because this was the money I was gonna spend on my Father’s Day meal at Texas Roadhouse but choose to spend it here. The customer service was excellent the meat cutter actually gave me an extra slice of brisket. I didn’t really know what I wanted but the employees recommended something’s and told me no rush take my time. Overall not the worst and not the best just barbecue

$20 to eat mediocre gas station BBQ. the people you are forced to communicate working the BBQ counter speak no english. My food was cold by the time I completed the checkout process. She tried to give me a plate full of fat so I asked for a lean cut…they have no idea what that is. Also they charge for refills.

Food wasn’t all that good…. Ribs and brisket where dry, the Mac and cheese tastes like velveeta boxed Mac and cheese, there mash potatoes aren’t bad and the bbq sauce carried the entire meal it was nice.

1400 wed Brisket was dry and over cooked with no seasoning what so ever. Good brisket bbq suace is optional. This brisket had to be drowned in it and let sit to rehydrate. The only positive was veg helping was adult portion not like so others are doing now. And staff was good The greens were excellant. I would not order the over priced brisket again-got 1 meat plate Unsweet was good as well

Had the 2 meat combo with drink for $25. The brisket was a half cup of shredded beef, no fat cap. Ribs consisted of 2 bones, only flavor was smoke. You could eat the Mac and cheese by moving your tongue, little texture. Best item on plate was the potato salad.

1 star is for smoke house food. The rest of this place is great. I bought 2 meat plate to go. Ribs and sausage. The ribs were so tuff with zero flavor that I'd rather eat my shoe. The sausage was bland. I've had hot dogs taste better. $22 went into the trash because I couldn't eat any of it. Taste before you leave. I wish I had.

I love the breakfast burritos! Especially with brisket, but it’s hit or miss every morning whether the service is good or terrible. One time there was a two person team of ladies that were super fast and amazingly helpful. Every other time the cashier doesn’t care and purposely left out my salsa. I saw her look in the bag and she gave me a smirk, which was odd, but I assumed that the salsa was there. By the time I get to work I realize there was no salsa which is one of my favorite parts. I think she’s a manager or lead kitchen staff in the morning but many cashiers constantly have an attitude for no reason. I love the food but can’t stand the staff most of the time.

This bbq joint is trash. I've tried this place 3x. The brisket and ribs have no flavor at all. No one there knows how to slice brisket. They're using the dullest knife I've ever seen. I think they're boiling the meat. I don't know how in the world they have 4 star reviews. After 3x I'm done.

Got it for our first time the other day and I got the muncho nachos. The staff were all in a bad mood like they didn't wanna be there. They rushed my whole family including my 6-7 year old. We didn't even get time to order all our food before they were taking others orders in line behind us. The meat was super dry so was pretty sad after spending a lot of money.

Best DRY smoked meat in TX. If you enjoy flavorless ribs that are dry AF, then this is the place for you. I got the ribs my wife ordered the chicken. We figured we split it you know each have ribs and chicken. Wrong idea. The best part of the meal was the side of potatoes. No exaggerating I took a bite of chicken and it was so dry I spate it out and threw it out of the windows. We're saving the food we didn't eat to give to the dogs. We'll chop it up water it down mix it in with their dog food and I guess they'll eat it. So if you want $40 dog food this is the place to go to.

First, last time customer Friday 1-17-25 1:59 PM. Check the cameras. I’m the one, first in line with the green hat and grey jacket. Customer behind me was assisted by the store manager who was black and the customer was black and I am white. She served him first while I was clearly next. I placed my items on the counter and walked out. Clearly racism.. this should be investigated and that manager should be reprimanded.

Some of the worst attitudes/customer service of any store I have ever been in. I purchased BBQ (which was OK) and a bottle of water. The employees acted like I was a bother. Never greeted and no thank-you. The purchase of the water was actually funny... the young lady never said a word to me. Not even the amount owed after she rung it up. I was going to pay in cash, but since I had no idea what the total was, I just used my card. These folks are in dire need of customer service training.

Met a friend here for a quick bite because of the reviews and the yummy looking photos. It's a buffet type set up. The food was horrible! I got one sandwich, 2 small sides and 1 small cobbler and drink for $23!!!!! Please learn from me, this place is NOT WORTH your money! The two employees working were very nice.

I arrived to eat dinner and brought my service dog 🐕‍🦺 and was refused service based on having my service dog. These people are very abusive. They broke federal law. I sowed these dog haters my service dogs ID only to be refused service based solely on my service dog being present, I informed them they were violating civil rights and I am a suing this busines is truly breaking Federal law and I will hold them accountable, they will be taught a lesson by the courts.

Texas "best" smokehouse is more like Texas worst smokehouse! Brisket had no seasoning. All the sides were cold. We called and asked if they had turkey, and they said yes, but when we got there 10 minutes later, they said they had been out for a while.

Rating only the bbq, probably the worse I've had. Bland brisket and weird flavor on sausage. The person serving didn't take off his gloves to turn door handles and disappeared to the back room for a bit then came back to handle my food so that really ruined my appetite. The brisket was already chopped and wrapped in bundles in cling wrap so who knows how long it was there for. False advertising this isn't Texas best smokehouse. The store was nice and had a bunch of sweets

Usually this smoke house franchise is pleasant with High quality tasting food. Unfortunately this location food wasn’t satisfying at all. The people that worked there were extremely rude. If I could give them zero stars, I would but unfortunately that wasn’t an option.

I hope the owner looks at this review the cofee area Is very poorly attended for months for the woman who cleans Should first attend to this area early there is no Coffee it's cold at 11 am that's when she' starts Checking I'll look for another place that has a fresh Coffee I'm tired of this situation I was a customer for 5 years buying gasoline food coffee every day This area needs to be supervised daily

The ribs were so dry and not fresh.The worst ribs I ever had.did not enjoy at all.Too much dry rub with no juices in the rib is horrible .Need to do better or find a better recipe

Ladies upfront were rude. I asked for a receipt so I can file it for my company and she made a big deal and acted like it was my fault. If they spent less time on their phones and more time paying attention she would have flipped the computer secret to get me a chance to select any receipt option. I drive through here every week on my route, I won’t stop here again. It’s pathetic. And on too can’t even get quality food.

Came all the way from Oklahoma first time eating here . I gotta give them a 4/10 the 3 meat plates with two sides very stingy with the sides for $33 bucks . The food was cold but I was starving so i ate a little bit . The beans cold and chewy the Mac and cheese no flavor and cold . Maybe we’ll try this again some day .

I visited the smokehouse this evening to get BBQ for dinner with my wife. Texas Best BBQ is typically a preference of mine in the family. I usually like the meat, the sides, and the sauce. However, today will be the last time I ever visit this location because of 1 poor attitude employee. The lady working the chop block tonight behaves in a spiteful manner to customers who prefer better brisket than the fatty part of a small end piece she has stored below the counter. Her response seems to be to whisper argue back and cut a smaller serving to spite them. Because of her, I'll go elsewhere from now on. The photo included is of the serving she cut after. The smallest serving of meat I've received on a plate anywhere, ever.

Got a pound of brisket to go. Got home it was the driest brisket I have ever had. I could have bought the cheapest brisket and cooked it on a propane grill and it would have been better. Tried to pic out the best. No use.

It's a gas station. Food is good considering that. Paid $52 for 2 dinners with tip. Went back for one ounce container of BBQ sauce and was charged 27 cents. Really? I would never go back.

DO NOT COME HERE. Staff cannot understand basic English and it will take forever to get through the line. Be ready to pay premium price for a sweet tea and be aware refills are $2 additional. Place is going downhill and will not be open much longer. Save your time/money and go to the next town.
