Opiniones de Dirk’s Lubbock
This seems to be a trend with restaurants owned by Cam... The bone in fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had (including old school Gus's). The cheese grits were excellent and the collard greens were delicious. Service was tip top. Oh, and they've got Brewery LBK beers on tap, so...
Food was delicious - just a tad salty, but good home cooking. Fried chicken done absolutely perfect juicy and crispy. Chicken fried steak came as strips so tender and the flavor was tasty. Fried okra comes whole but so crispy with delishious homemade ranch sauce. The sides are to die for. Yum!! Wait staff was amazing, they were busy and yet never had to ask for refills on drinks at all. If we could give this place a 10 we would. We did have to wait about 20 on a Saturday so just know good food ...ya gotta wait a bit.
The best chicken tenders I've ever had (aside from the ones I can make) have been at Dirk's. I take my family from out of town here often because of the service along with the delicious food. I highly recommend Dirk's if you are new to the area or looking for some good ole fashioned west Texas cooking.
Look, the chicken ia good good. The Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) is the best. It gets a little loud and a little crowded around lunch, so go early or late.
Hands down, the best fried chicken in Lubbock! The fried okra was great. The bacon jalapeño gravy was the best! It's crowded and noisy at lunchtime, but with food this good, there's no avoiding that. If I worked nearby, I'd be in trouble.
This place served up to their name. Our bar tender host was very friendly and came with recommendations for the are brew beers that were on tap. Will say the beers were delicious! But most of all this place lived up to their name by serving a portion size meal! We suggest if you like spicy and little heat, try the Korean chicken with rice and jambalaya; or, lemon roasted chicken with the mashed potatoes and collard greens. Stop by and enjoy!
Portions are good but not huge. The food has their own signature taste and is well worth the extra few dollars over fast food. Not a burger place, but imagine Blue Sky with wait staff. Expect about $15 - $17 per person. A few meals are easily split for lighter appetites. Chicken strips are great and so are the steak fingers if they are tender. Best gravy in town. I'm trying the grits and shrimp next time. Only open Wednesday-Sunday.
super nice cute place, like a modern old diner. we got a dozen oysters for $18 which came with a ton of crackers, lots of condiments like horseradish and vinegar, lemons, tabasco, etc and the oysters were huge!! we also split a chicken tenders for $15 which was completely worth it considering it came with gumbo, fried okra, and the biggest tenders i’ve ever seen. we left stuffed.. never getting canes again
We were visiting from out of town and my cousin recommended this place to us and I'm glad she did. The chicken strips were fabulous. The dirks signature sauce was so so good along with them. The side we got with some mashed potatoes and gravy and again the gravy was the next level. We had two of their specialty drinks and again they were great. Next time we're in town I guarantee you we will be back and I would recommend you check it out.
Jordan and Kennedy were our servers and took great care of our table. Very friendly and professional servers. I had not been to Dirk's before but the bar drinks were freshly and expertly made. Food was good with something for everyone. Its a bit loud but we were also there at a very busy time. We will be back!
Wow. I didn't realize how delicious a Rotisserie chicken could be. The sides were delicious as well. The Jalapeno mashed potatoes were creamy and warm. The shaved brussel sprouts were bright and crispy. My margarita was perfection. The service was great and food arrived fast. The manager, Cousin, politely introduced himself and was genuinely passionate about the restaurant. My husband also enjoyed his hot fries chicken and our daughter enjoyed her chicken strips as well. Wish we had a Dirks in San Antonio 😋
Y’all….i ended up deciding to stop at dirks on a whim and it was probably the best decision I have ever made. My girl Kennedy was AMAZING in every way she was so inviting and makes kick ass drinks, the chicken and sauces knocked my socks off!! But the best part of all was seeing the teamwork amongst the staff- shoutout to The Death shirt guy!! I love how the employees are family and the dynamic is palpable…I am so grateful I got to experience this place and Dirks will absolutely be my Lubbock staple spot 🩷🐓
Durk's is what happens when you elevate regional favorites and add oysters, drinks and astounding fried okra. I'm addicted
Best chicken in town, hands down! Atmosphere is nothing to brag about but I’m there to eat not to look around. Not a big fan of the Dirk Sauce, but the okra, fries, mash potatoes, or collards are all wins. I will continue to go here when I am craving some fried chicken. Dirks for the win!!!
Really great place, short menu for food but long for drinks…. What’s great about this place you know what you are going to get before you get there…. Oyster on the half shell is the best in the area….great prices…. Bloody Mary’s were top of our list….. Rachel and I having a pre Mardi Gras party….
Excellent food and service. Tons of allergen friendly and gluten free options that were not on the menu. Everything tasted great and fresh.
Great pace to grab some chicken strips or steak fingers! Get the sauce flight it’s so worth it to try them all. Ask for Kennedy she is fantastic!
The Korean fried chicken was outstanding. The waiter was also extremely kind. A fantastic experience.
In honor of the late great cartoonist, journalist, and former mayor Gerald Glynn “Dirk” West this restaurant embodies quintessential Lubbock. The menu has been shortened due to the pandemic but the chicken tenders are the marque dish. Young professionals love this spot, expect a short wait at lunch with a bustling crowd. The noise inside is kind of loud but in the end it’s definitely worth it.
Best chicken I’ve ever had. Oysters were wonderful. All the servers I’ve ever had are super chill and friendly! Everything is well priced. A must visit spot in Lubbock!
I had the Nashville chicken on recommendation by the waiter, and she recommended the Nashville, and I AM GRATEFUL AS IT WAS AMAZING. Dirks, yall make amazing food, I will always miss RICHARDS, but YALL have stepped up to the task, AND DOING AN AMAZING JOB. I'll be in MORE OFTEN, it'd be lovely too see Lubbock downtown SHINE AGAIN, Dirks, Italian Garden two of Lubbocks premier restaurants. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Hands down, some of the BEST fried chicken around. Especially the Korean fried chicken. Tge sides are all fantastic as well!
Oh my gosh! This place is 100/10! I had the chicken strips expecting just some regular old chicken strips but that is far from what I got! The chicken was juicy, tender and absolutely delicious! Is it the best fried chicken in Lubbock? HECK YES IT IS Everything is 14$ with 2 sides, well worth the price!
Went during Tech move-in .. didn’t appear overly busy. Food took a while to come out, but tasted great. Would definitely go back. Cool art
First time here for me and my husband and I must say it was delicious! The bartender was super helpful and did a great job surprising my husband with a tasty meal. Would highly recommend this place!
If we’re ever driving through or stopping in Lubbock, we are coming back here! Dirk’s Signature Chicken & Bar has some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I need to come back and try their rotisserie chicken! From our server to our food, the overall experience at Dirk’s was amazing! Bone-In Fried Chicken with Dirk’s Signature Sauce - 10/10 would recommend - crispy chicken skin, juicy and tender meat - great portion size for the $ - signature sauce has a great taste, but if you’re not into horse radish, you may not like the aftertaste - fries were crispy and light KFC (Korean-style fried chicken) - sweet and spicy flavor, a lot more spice than expected but delicious - pairs really well with the rice that it comes with - great portion size for the $ Kid’s Chicken Nuggets - best chicken nuggets you will ever give your kids - tastes like actual chicken - if chicken didn’t lay eggs but instead had chicken nuggets, this is what they would taste like - in all seriousness, really good chicken nuggets and our kids (3, 1) ate them up no issue Not pictured - great service by staff and our server, answered all our questions and was friendly with our kids - merch (shirt from Dirk’s) that I bought because the chicken was THAT good I’m not blowing smoke. If you’re in Lubbock, stop at Dirk’s! You will not regret it!
The second Lubbock-only restaurant of the fabulous West Table. Here for a business lunch. Come early because this place fills up quickly and stays busy. But there's a reason: the southern influenced menu is wonderful, and the casual atmosphere of perfect. Shrimp and grits were wonderful. Cheddar grits had an amazing flavor. Side of andouille gumbo was so good it should just be it's own full-sized dish. Been here several times now, and always had an excellent experience. The art is amazing as well!
Well, I meant to take a before picture but what had happened was.... It was delicious!! I had the Bone-in Fried Chicken with fried okra and mashed potatoes. I was able to steal a fry from my little one and although my potatoes were good, I wanted more of his fries. He was able to keep guard over them. It was our first time there and the service was friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming. The bar menu looked great. Wouldn't mind sitting up to the bar sometime for drink sometime. Loved it and I highly recommend!
This was by far the best Nashville Hot Chicken I have ever had. It was juicy and tender and the flavor was spot on. It was not that hot so it was very enjoyable. It was a lot of food came with breast, wing, thigh, and leg. Came with pickles and white bread. Very traditional. Ask for some ranch too. Can easily be shared with an extra side order. The chicken gumbo was also very good. Will be back next time I am back in Lubbock.
The wife and I really enjoyed the food from Dirks. I had the Nashville hot chicken. It was hot-juicy and delicious. The fries had great seasoning. The wife had the rotisserie chicken. It was also seasoned well and very juicy. The prices were not bad considering the portions. We will definitely return for this delicious chicken spot!
Went here for the 1st time on a Saturday, and it was super busy but we happen to catch some seats at the bar! I got chicken strips, mashed potatoes, and fries: all amazing. My husband got chicken fried steak (it's served as strips as well), Cajun creamed corn, and okra: all amazing. Staff was super friendly, and we can't wait to go back. We would definitely love to see another location that's bigger so larger crowds wouldn't have to wait so long, but that's wishful thinking😉
My first time here and the food was absolutely delicious!! Very crispy, juicy and great flavor. Great atmosphere, nice and clean. Tara was very pleasant and made our experience here a plus!! Will definitely be coming back!
Yummy! So tasty 😋 We had the Asian Zing and Rotisserie Chicken. Sides included fresh and hot fries, delicious creamed corn and mashed potatoes. Wish they had dessert 🤪 But it was More then enough food! Just know, that if you come during lunch hours it is packed… But we’ll worth it! We will be back
We wanted to visit Dirks the last time we were in Lubbock, but they close early on Sundays. But we managed to visit our next time in town. They are not dog friendly, so we placed a take out order. As others have mentioned, they have a dedicated fryer. Yay! We got the chicken tenders with fries and green beans and the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, no gravy (gravy has gluten), and collard greens. They messed up our order and gave us corn instead of mashed potatoes. But the corn is also gluten-free, and it was yummy. Had my eye on the gumbo, but they use flour in the roux. The honey mustard, ranch, and ketchup are all GF. Everything we had was delicious!! There was a $1 up charge per meal labeled as Gluten Allergy on the receipt
Flavor: A Service: B Tea: A Solo dining: B Because variety is my love language I was won over as soon as I found my item on the menu - the combination platter! The chicken strips and the steak finger strips were both good. I thought the gravy, corn, and potatoes were a little bland (and none of them were piping hot). But the star of the show was the okra. Cut in long strips rather than small pieces, battered with tons of flavor, and perfectly fried. And if there were a runner up, it would be the sauces - all of them that I tried were great. If only Dirks were around in my college days! But I’ll be back on the next L-town visit.
I'm going to do something I rarely do, and that's give this place 5 Stars. Even the best of the best places, at most I give 4 stars because there's always room for improvement. But this place, this place is PERFECT! I wouldn't recommend to change anything!!! The food was absolutely stunning and amazing!!! The service is good, staff is attentive, and drinks are delicious!
My mom wanted chicken stripes. I googled best chicken stripes in Lubbock. This place popped up . The customer services is absolutely amazing. Hands down get the sweet tea. It is made freaking house and you can taste it. The chicken had the perfect crunch and moist just amazing. We will be back. If you have not tried it you need to.
First off Atmosphere was awesome. Had some friends come in from out of town and we all met here for dinner. Food was amazing, our waiter was hands down 1 of the best ive had in awhile. Portions were very good for the money. Would definitely go back again. They also had a decent option of Gluten Free items
Attentive server, fairly fun aesthetic, but the star is the food. Some of the best fried chicken you’ll ever have anywhere, including Memphis/Atlanta/name the city that claims it. The mashed potatoes were great, the sauce platter was perfect for dipping. A top-tier fried chicken experience. They could charge $50 and I’d go back.
OMG One of the best meals on this trip and an unexpected surprise. The Korean chicken was delicious- a little spicy but not overwhelming- juice and tender. The chicken tenders were perfectly cooked moist inside and a satisfying crunch with Dirk's signature sauce. And a wide choice of sides - first place goes to the collard greens - I usually avoid from many bad ones, but these were the best I've ever had. On a road trip for a one night stop over searched a long time for a spot that wasn't pub grub or pizzas or burgers or a a chain - this was a very lucky find. Lots of locals agree. The wait staff was friendly and fun and prompt- the tricefta. If you are within 100 miles ' eat here.
Fantastic restaurant. We got the traditional chicken strips and the Korean Fried Chicken. Both of them were so good! Alex served us and he was very attentive of our table and helped us decide what to get, as it was our first time and we are from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He recommended some various sauces, which were all good, but that house ketchup is something else - I'm not even a big ketchup fan, but this was next level! This will definitely be a go-to spot for us any time we're in town. Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved loved the Korean fried chicken! The sauce was not too sweet, not too salty, perfectly savory. We ordered to go since we were on a road trip, but the restrooms were very clean. The wait staff was super friendly and service was fast. If we ever pass through Lubbock again, DEFINITELY stopping here again
We had lunch with a customer here around noon on 12/20. We were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. The place is very creatively decorated with lots of cartoon art. The staff were kind and helpful. We all ordered the combination platter and chose different sides. I had the mashed potatoes with jalapeño bacon gravy and collard greens. The potatoes were smooth and buttery, and the gravy was outstanding. The collard greens were perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned. The chicken tenders and steak strips were both battered expertly with great flavor and cooked to perfection. Both were juicy and fork tender, and a knife was not necessary. I had the Korean and Nashville sauces to complement my meal. Both were delicious, but not necessary since the meat was so delightful without a sauce! Overall, we enjoyed a delicious meal and had a good time. Fair warning though: it was busy and quite loud during our lunch, so if you are hearing impaired and looking for a place to have a nice conversation over your meal, you might find yourself shouting at each other if you choose to eat here.
Surprisingly good! I had my reservations about the fried chicken. However, the Fried and rotisserie chicken were full of flavor. Mashed potatoes were ok, but everything else was great. Nice change to the Lubbock food scene. Glad to see they added online ordering. Service is good. Ordered to go several times and they have never messed up on the order.
I went to Dirk's to switch things up and have some more authentic fried chicken (beyond what the fast-food chains offer). I was sat at the bar, and it took a few minutes before the bartender was able to take my order (totally expected). It was fairly loud inside the restaurant, which made ordering a little more difficult, but that's the sort of sports bar/restaurant vibe they have going on at Dirk's. The chicken tenders were spectacular: crispy yet moist and juicy. I would 100% go back just for the jalapeno bacon gravy. The Cajun corn and shaved brussels sprouts were both a letdown to me because they didn't have enough flavor. Probably would have been happier sticking to fries or mashed potatoes.
Pretty small place and very loud. Maybe it's just the acoustics of the room but even when only about 1/3 full it was very loud. We had chicken fingers and the Chicken Andoulle gumbo. Gumbo wasn't very good. Chicken fingers and fries were very good and was a large portion. Menu was kind of limited, not a lot of variety. Was more like bar food, which I'm sure is what they were going for. Would give 5 stars on food if not for the gumbo. Overall we liked it. Would like a slightly larger menu though. We would go back again, but would definitely have everyone check the menu beforehand and make sure they could find something they liked.
The food was good not great but better than the average chicken tender. The service was horrible. Jordan our server seemed very bothered to be there, not a friendly bone in her body. The atmosphere was ok there were a lot of empty places on the wall where the pictures were missing made it look a little unattended. Sorry Dirk’s but not impressed won’t be back especially because of the service. Hire people who can smile, greet you, and don’t make you feel like you are bothering them….the hostess gave us the same vibe we should have just walked out then. 40.00 plus for 2 people to walk out feeling like we bothered them 😬
Great chicken fingers, shockingly spicy Nashville sauce, super crispy no matter what you get. I enjoy the Dirk original artwork that decorates this place, including many renditions of raider Red who was designed by Dirk. Downsides: the martini I got was good and generous, but more of a Vespa than a martini. The portions are insanely large. That doesn't seem like a negative, but plan to split what you get on many plates. Inside is loud, so don't expect romantic quiet or anything. This is more of a rowdy sports bar vibe By the time we left at 7:00 there was a long line out the door. Honestly the chicken here is unbelievable.
This is a great place. Although I stopped in for lunch and the chicken was legit, their bar menu for happy hour looked great also. Next time I am in town I will be sure to check out the happy hour scene, for sure.
Stopped by to check Dirk’s out after a friend recommended it to us. Pros: the food was absolutely wonderful and everything came out fresh. The KFC and Nashville Fried chicken are absolutely wonderful. Both are spicy, but not killer hot. Tried a friend’s chicken fried steak fingers great too. Cons: When busy the acoustics are off and it can be hard to converse at the table. The wait time for food during this visit was long. Unsure if it was just this evening or a normal occurrence. Regardless it wasn’t a big deal for our party, but for some it could have been an issue. I’ll definitely be going back. The serve good food at good prices. Check them out!
New to Lubbock and decided to experience Dirk’s. You can feel the genuine customer service as you walk in Warm/Friendly/Hospitable. Our server Tara met us with a smile and we got served a “twangy Arnold Palmer” different yet refreshing. I ordered the Korean Chicken with Jasmine Rice and Creamed Potatoes with Jalapeños Bacon Flavor Gravy. Meal Presentation: Perfect Portion Size: 1/2 of a Chicken aka Must come with an Appetite Taste: Yummy BUT the seasoning/flavor was on the outside. I would recommend it being served with a Korean Sauce (standard) so the flavor stay all the way to the bone Restroom - Female: Very modern and chic and clean. The Sink were as cute as they were functional Parking Lot: As you enter the lot you can smell the chicken cooking and you can start imagining what you are going to eat as the aroma tickles your tastebuds. None the less the parking lot is tight (based on the size of your vehicle) and if you had to park along the perimeter your “vehicle’s tail” would be in the bushes Overall great experience/great price ($50.00/ 2 Persons/ No Alcohol)great ambience/super friendly customer service
We arrived around 4:30 pm and there were not very many customers. Immediately, we were greeted by our server, Jordan, so we got a shiner bock and a glass of water while we waited for our entrees. Our decision to choose the bone-in fried chicken with the gumbo and fried zucchini as the sides was a great choice. We also ordered the Nashville hot chicken and the kid's chicken fried steak strips. Everything was fried amazingly. All of the meats were tender and fried to a good crisp with the right amount of seasoning. The mashed potatoes with jalapeño bacon gravy were delicious 😋 However, the music was too loud, and the establishment was cold inside. Every time the furnace kicked on, the unit was loud and noisy, so I felt like it was too much going on.
Here is a place that knows what it wants to do and does it well. This place is all about the chicken. The portion sizes are great. I had the Nashville Hot chicken, the flavor was wonderful, I personally would have liked more spicy, but that is a personal choice. The sides are good, the flavors are there, and the service was really friendly and fast...the resuerant itself if just a little old building, pretty unassuming but I actually think it takes a little away from the experience. They have Gluten free fried chicken on menu as well, pretty great place. 4/5
I’ve been here several times and lately only when it’s very busy. The food is phenomenal when they aren’t packed busy. 50/50 when they are. Atmosphere is great but very very loud. Aside from that, there are some things they need to fix. 1) Sometimes they say they don’t take reservations, sometimes they do, sometimes only under special circumstances, it seems to just depend on who you talk to or who you are. For the love of God, get all your staff on the same page with reservations. I called in the early afternoon to try and get a reservation and was told they don’t take reservations. I show up to stand in line for a table and I’m asked if I’m part of the 40-person reservation. Then half the restaurant fills up with those 40 people and there are no tables left. Not cool 2) My friend got served bloody chicken, didn’t eat it and they refused to take it off the ticket. They had a small baby and couldn’t wait another hour to have it remade (on account of the table of 40 people all ordering at the same time and slowing down the kitchen) the rest of us had no issues other than some slightly burnt Nashville chicken which we ate anyways because it is still great. 3) They automatically add 18% gratuity? We had a table of 7….not 20…. Cmon 4) if they lowered the price of the cocktails they would sell more of them and people would be more inclined to order them. $14 for a small cocktail is ridiculous 5) they used to have appetizers but seem to no longer have any. They have oysters but when we tried to order them they said there was an issue with their delivery and they didn’t feel comfortable serving the ones they had, which I understand. But appetizers and affordable cocktails keeps people in your restaurant longer and you sell more..
Months ago, it would’ve been five stars across the board they used to serve massive chicken portions unfortunately it’s not the case anymore. Their chicken is nowhere near as juicy or as large. I feel like I ordered a kids meal whenever my chicken came out just in comparison to how large the portions used to be the chicken still taste good the service is never outstanding, but it’s never bad.
Great interior and ambiance. Loved the picture frames and aesthetic. Korean fried chicken flavor was not living up to the description on the menu. The fried chicken tendies were phenomenal. Breading was light and crispy which I loved. Fries were also super crispy just how I like it! Espresso martini was delightful and a little strong.
The flavor on our food was rather bland (chicken fried steak fingers, okra, potatoes). The jalapeño gravy was good.
Chicken was good but everything else was ehhh. Fried okra was whole with no seasoning. Cheddar grits were not cooked all the way and the cheese flavor was a bit off.
Our waitress and the staff was very helpful in trying to find food for me to eat, that I am not intollerant to. But the options, like most places, is very limited. As for my friends, they were less than satisfied and will likely not go back. It was also a little too loud of seniors like us; but bearable. Sorry Dirks. Lots of people going in so it is obviously OK for them.
Dropped in today for a late lunch. Love the art on the walls. Service was super prompt since weather kept the customers away (and it was late). Tried the shrimp/grits and shaved Brussel sprouts and hubby had the chicken fried steak fingers/gravy with gumbo and smothered mashed potatoes. The grits had chunks that were dry/uncooked. The brussel sprouts were decent. Hubby's steak fingers looked a bit unappealing and the batter was dry/under cooked. Our iced tea was great! Took thr server a long time to cash us out but he offered us drinks to go. The entire restaurant had super sticky floors that made your feet squeak every step you made. The hallway walls are very dirty looking. The place wasn't nearly as good as I remembered a couple of years ago when I had a fabulous experience.
Dirks has been my favorite for awhile now, but the last few visits have shown the lack of quality. Today was it for me, the chicken tenders had absolutely no flavor, NONE! The waitress we had also seems like she doesn't care to be here. Marking this place off my list unfortunately.
I got the combo with the chicken fried steak and the chicken tenders. The tenders were great but the chicken fried steak was super mid. I also got the mashed potatoes with gravy as a side and they were not good. Tasted kinda watery and I didn’t even want to finish them (rarely would I say potatoes aren’t worth finishing). The fried okra was good. My husband got the Korean fried chicken and it was good but you can get good Korean fried chicken that tastes better and is a lot less expensive at the Wolfforth farmers market! All in all it was a good place just pretty over priced ($16 plates for some good some not great food I wouldn’t think is great). The service was great though and the people are really kind.
Way over priced. Chicken was pretty good. Sides were small and terrible. Not as described. Cajun creamed corn not creamy. Brussel sprouts just shaved, not roasted. Fries soggy. Beer substandard and very limited selection. Terrible atmosphere and really really loud.
The servers were very attentive, but the quality of the food was a huge letdown for the price and advertising, and the order came out wrong. The food wasn't terrible exactly, but definitely not the quality I'd have expected for a sit down place. If I'd gotten it out of a truck, I would've at least been able to say, "Well, I don't know what I expected. I got it out of a truck," but this place markets itself as kind of a trendy sit-down place, and most of the sides still clearly came out of a can and were unseasoned. It's cute enough inside, if a little cold and sterile. If it was a greasy hole-in-the-wall, the food would still have been a let-down, but less so. In this environment it was completely baffling.
The chicken here is super crispy, juicy, and tasty. However that is where the positives about the food end for me and my dinner companion personally. The chicken fried steak tenders were chewy and the breading fell off right away and what breading managed to stay on wasn’t cooked. It was mushy and frankly gross. The gravy was super watery and not pleasant. The grits were so thick and unyielding it came out of its little cup in a cube and stayed that way for a while which weirded me out. And finally, the shaved brussel sprouts looks like baby food and I didn’t even try it it looked so gross to me. Overall, the service was good, the facility was good, and the chicken tenders were good. None of that is enough to return.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I wanted to share my experience. The restaurant itself is nice, a little to loud. The waitress was very friendly. My main concern was that I was not allowed to order from the kids’ menu. I explained that I just wanted something small and quick since we are students and I wasn't very hungry. I often order kids’ meals at other restaurants when I want a smaller portion. However, we were told that only seniors are allowed to order from the kids’ menu. Additionally, my friend ordered the chicken fried steak. After eating a few bites, she started feeling sick and mentioned that the flavor tasted off. She also ordered a refill to go, but the waitress never returned to our table with the drink. After we paid, no one came back, and we ended up leaving without receiving it. Overall, while the staff was friendly, there were a few issues that made our experience disappointing.
Dirks has been a real favorite of ours since opening. Cameron and his team are generally great. However, we tried going yesterday (Sunday, Sept 29) at 1:30, and we were turned away. The hostess told us they were closed. Their sign says they close at 2pm, but this was 1:30. The restaurant was packed, probably because of the family weekend. Apparently, they didn't want more customers on this day. My assumption is that the staff didn't want to have to work a minute past 2pm. So, why have a sign that says open until 2pm, if you're not going to take care of customers up until 2pm?? This seems very unprofessional and we were so disappointed because it doesn't match up with their service history.
The food was DISGUSTING! The mashed potatoes were watery, so was the gravy. Everything was cold. The honey mustard was gross, who messes up honey mustard?? If you like your food to have flavor, DO NOT eat here. It sucks to spend $80 on a meal that we ended up taking home to the dogs and still have to go feed the family. Also upon walking in, we were seated by someone who looked upset that we were there. We will never go back, I highly recommend going somewhere else.
The absolute worst meal ever! The previous review is spot on. The music is so loud you can not carry on a table conversation. It is freezing cold. It took 47 minutes from placing order until food arrived, only after asking to speak to a manager. Was told the manager was on the phone. (Never spoke to us.) The entire salt shaker was used on our food. We didn't even eat it. $40.00 for two plates of chicken strips, not was not even close to Canes quality. Will never be back!
Food looks good. That's about it. Salty is the only way I can describe it. Got the Korean fried chicken. Soggy and over salted fries, the chicken was alright, once you got through the over salted exterior. Served with dry rice. For 16 bucks? Yeah nah. Was just passing through Lubbock, don't wanna come back after that. Server was great tho, she was attentive and refilled our waters constantly! Edit: Buddy of mine who lives in Lubbock suggested that we arrived on a bad day, and agreed that the food was not good. Maybe it's usually good, but when we went, it was practically inedible
