Late lunch in arrivo a Lucca, ci hanno trovato in qualche minuto un tavolo. Menu, cibo, servizio, sono stati tutti bravissimi! Torneremo per assaggiare gli altri piatti!

Locale molto carino con la vista sulla piazza dell’Anfiteatro. Cibo era di un’ottima qualità, la pappa al pomodoro era fantastica! Il personale molto gentile e disponibile. Prezzi ragionevoli. Un posto molto bello per godere non solo il cibo, sorseggiando un calice di vino, ma anche la vista e il sole autunnale che ti coccola.

Pranzo di Pasqua veramente al top, materie prime di qualità, servizio molto cordiale e professionale Eugenio ha accolto tutte le nostre richieste e consigliato al meglio sulla scelta del menù. Una menzione particolare alla coppa di maiale tenerissima e ricca di gusto

Nella splendida piazza dell'anfiteatro, abbiamo cenato molto bene venendo seguiti con cura, attenzione e gentilezza dal personale composto da due ottimi professionisti. Una rarità nel panorama di sfruttamento maleducato dei clienti. Un grande quanto raro gesto di attenzione il calice di prosecco ad inizio come il limoncino a fine cena. Spero di tornare a Lucca x la bellezza della città ed anche x ritornare al Sottosotto.

Intanto un consiglio: il locale si trova nella piazza, il navigatore non vi guiderà precisamente. Siamo stati a cena durante il Lucca Comics: il posto ha i tavoli all’aperto e il personale è molto cordiale e simpatico. Il menú è sintetico ma ricco di pietanze interessanti(io ho mangiato la coppa di maiale), abbiamo mangiato molto bene e ci torneremo. Il servizio è stato veloce, il gestore(un ragazzo abbastanza giovane) si è dimostrato simpatico e generoso, dato che ci ha anche offerto vari limocelli. Consigliatissimo davvero, bravi.

Tutto semplicemente perfetto! Dall’accoglienza al servizio, ogni dettaglio è curato con grande attenzione e gentilezza. La location è incantevole — calda, accogliente e raffinata al punto giusto, ideale sia per una cena romantica che per una serata tra amici. Il cibo è davvero straordinario. Il tortello è un piccolo capolavoro di equilibrio e gusto, con una sfoglia perfetta e un ripieno ricco e delicato. Gli gnocchi sono morbidi, leggeri, si sciolgono letteralmente in bocca. Il tortino alla zucca conquista con la sua dolcezza naturale e la consistenza vellutata, un piatto che profuma di autunno e comfort. E per concludere, il semifreddo alla meringa con caramello salato è un vero trionfo di sapori: cremoso, croccante e con quel tocco di sale che esalta alla perfezione la dolcezza. Un’esperienza culinaria eccellente, dove si sente la passione e la cura in ogni piatto. Tornerò sicuramente! 👏🍽️

Nel caos del Lucca comics cercavamo un posto in cui rifugiarci e rifocillarci, non potevamo fare scelta migliore. Siamo stati subito accolti con professionalità e gentilezza, da celiaca mi sono state elencate tutte le opzioni senza glutine (davvero tante) e abbiamo mangiato benissimo. Ottima esperienza, da ripetere in caso tornassimo a Lucca. Grazie ancora!

We normally avoid tourist spots, but this place was the exception — and it was totally worth it. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but were offered a complimentary glass of prosecco, which set the tone perfectly. Our table was right in the middle of the piazza, a fantastic spot to enjoy the atmosphere and people-watch. The menu offered a rich variety of dishes, full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The pappa al pomodoro was outstanding — simple, rustic, and absolutely delicious. And as a fun little bonus: Emma Watson happened to be sitting right next to us!

This was the best Italian meal I’ve had since arriving in Italy. The meatballs were incredibly tasty with layers of flavor and amazing aroma. The cuttlefish with beans were delicious too. And the tiramisu was absolutely perfect! I wasn’t in the best mood that day, but this meal lifted my spirits and made me really happy.

The best meal we had in Tuscany. We ordered regional Testaroli al Tartufo. My friend had her Tiramisu. Bread with olive oil as a free starter and a Limoncello as a nice end of that splendid meal. Everything was delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Stopped by Sottosotto for lunch and it was such a lovely find. The place feels cozy and welcoming, perfect for a quiet break in the middle of the day. The risotto was rich and beautifully cooked — creamy without being heavy — and the semifreddo made the perfect light, refreshing finish. A wonderful spot to slow down and enjoy good food in Lucca.

Wonderful setting inside the Piazza Del Anfiteatro with plenty of people watching to be done! The food was excellent and having the chance to eat Testaroli, which is an ancient pasta, was fun and delicious. Highly recommend ordering it! Jan and his colleague provided us with quality service and attention to detail. Nothing was rushed and we felt welcomed from the moment we requested a table for two. A complimentary welcome prosecco at arrival and limoncello for dessert was a nice touch. We ordered: - Bruschetta - Testaroli with truffle, malga butter and parmesan - Lucca tortelli with meat sauce - chocolate fondant with peanut butter filling and custard - tiramisu

We visited SottoSotto for a spontaneous late lunch and were met with a fully booked restaurant. Still, the staff kindly informed us there might be a short wait and offered us water while a table was being prepared; a thoughtful gesture that set the tone right from the start. Within just five minutes, a table was ready for us and the service throughout remained equally attentive and friendly. We started with burrata and octopus, both beautifully presented and full of flavor. For the main course, we each had a pasta dish, both executed wonderfully. The absolute highlight though was the tiramisu; hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Creamy, balanced, and bursting with flavor. A must-try. All in all, SottoSotto delivered a fantastic experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.

We passed by coincidence and didn’t want to eat at the touristy piazza, and this piazza defi is touristy but I worked for years in high class hotels and restaurants and I saw the guy helping a woman to get a stain out of her shirt and so checked the reviews. There was no place at the time we asked to eat there but he said: in 15/20 min I will have a table and I gave you a glass of cava on the house.. so this journey started very well and it only went up from there. We had the house specials and wow this was one of the best pastas ever. Tiramisu, don’t get me started. House made yummie, heaven! But you know what, food can be excellent (and here it is) but if the service is bad, you would not becoming back but here the food could have been not so good and I still would recommend the place because the service is 200 out of 100! So service 10 Food 10 and also price - quality good!! Thank you for making our day so nice in lucca!

Favorite meal these last 7 days! The food was absolutely incredible! I ordered the lasagne, and it was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. My husband chose the Ravioli (Tortellini Lucca with meat sauce), which was equally delicious. The bread—served with olive oil—was the best I’ve had anywhere in Italy, and the roasted potatoes were perfection: crispy, well-seasoned, and simply to die for. Dining al fresco made the experience even more special. The service was impeccable, with friendly staff who spoke English well, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet nice, complete with crisp linens. The location is perfect for enjoying your meal while people-watching. They offer menus in English (and several other languages), which makes ordering easy. Everyone around us seemed just as thrilled with their meals—whether it was prosciutto with melon or beautifully simple bruschetta topped with fresh, perfectly diced tomatoes. Every dish looked stunning and tasted even better. A truly unforgettable dining experience!

The host of our hotel recommended some restaurants in the area and I saw this one and was intrigued by the reviews. It really made up to our expectations. The staff was really nice and helpful. The food was amazing, but what suprised me the most was the Testaroli! I have never heard of this type of pasta in my life, but it quickly became one of my top 3. It’s like a mixture of pasta and pancake and it is amazing!!! We also ate the gnocchi and tiramisú :) the wine was also very good. Would come back!

Had an unforgettable evening at Sottosotto for my partner’s birthday and they absolutely nailed it. We were given the prime spot on the Piazza, the kind of table you’d normally only dream of. The service was hands down the best I’ve ever had - they genuinely care about making it special for you. They even surprised us with a tiramisu on the house to top off the night. A truly special experience and I can't wait to come back to Lucca just for this.

Excellent restaurant located right in one of Lucca’s main Piazzas. We got three dishes - two pasta dishes and the eggplant parmesan. Each were excellent. Staff were incredibly friendly. We showed up late for our reservation, but they still accommodated us. They also provided excellent recommendation and happily engaged despite our poor Italian skills. Atmosphere is great. Seating is all outdoors in a nice historic piazza. Prices are also very reasonable for the food quality. I’d probably end up paying double for the same experience in the Bay Area. Would happily return.

Amazing pork neck served with onions and red peppers. Oil and bread were very tasty. The view of the square is beautiful. If you come at lunch time, be aware it is very hot under the umbrella. They have water mist spraying but if you don’t like eating in hot temperatures, maybe come in the evening. Worth a visit!

We had a phenomenal meal as Sottosotto. The service was exceptional, Eugene looked after us. The restaurant was fully booked and FOMO was kicking in. Eugene managed to squeeze us in. The complimentary prosseco was a lovely touch. The photos I have taken are testament to how good the food and wine was. Notably the local wine and olive oil was delicious 😋. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Eugenio made our dining experience one we will fondly remember. Very professional, courteous and outgoing. A true asset to this restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and a good selection of wines. This was our first visit/ stay in Lucca and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend dining here but call well ahead for a reservation.

Simply amazing. Certainly not the best pictures, but after a flight and all the little inconveniences that come with it, getting a warm welcome on a cloudy day is exactly what you'd get from the waiter. If that wasn't enough, they were so kind to us—considering we arrived at a time that was neither lunch nor dinner. OMG, what could we possibly get? “Un’insalata caprese e degli gnocchi da condividere” was our brilliant suggestion—alongside a glass of Vermentino wine. It was the perfect start to what we're calling a promising vacation in Lucca. The weather wasn’t on our side, but this is definitely the kind of place where you'd want to enjoy a glass of wine on a warm summer evening. From what I saw (maybe not enough), it looks like they only have tables out on the terrace. Anyway, the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

We had a fabulous meal at this very highly rated restaurant. They have two seatings, 6:30 pm and 9pm. We sat for the earlier one. They only have outdoor seating which was fabulous as it was in a beautiful plaza! We shared the octopus with potatoes and olives which was lovely! Oh, and they welcomed us with a free glass of prosecco which was delicious! We then ordered the sea bass and the mushroom risotto. The food was really delicious and the service was fabulous.

A lovely restaurant despite being in a place you’d expect tourist traps. Watching the other restaurants pushy staff trying to drag in punters was sad to see. The staff here couldn’t be more different, friendly and not at all pushy. We approached them to get a table and I am glad we did. The food was delicious and we enjoyed our meal. The prices were high and some high service charges added so only 4 stars for me.
