This place delivered an excellent representation of a Cajun boil. The food was tasty and well cooked. The service was great and the server was also very kind. A little expensive it seems but the quality matches the price point.

Everyone must try this. It's so delicious and fun. We have returned many times to one of our favorite restaurants. Come see the robot assist the staff to deliver your order right to your table! You can even pet it.

I love the vibe here! Their cat waiter delivery method is absolutely adorable and I cannot get enough of it. The staff is nice and all seem to be happy. It adds to the environment. The prices are fine. I don't know what people expect the price of CRAB to be in the Central Valley. Their garlic bread is also to die for.

Their seafood is a bit expensive, but really good. The garlic butter flavor is great. They have 2 different cajun flavors, and I think Louisiana style is my favorite. Spixed as hot as you want. I like spicy, and the 3rd from the hottest was right for me. The hottest would burn my face off.

Absolutely love this place!!! Great consistency in the food, shrimp are not overcooked. I tried the instant ramen in the bag today and loved it, great noodle texture and portion. My favorite is the original Cajun flavor with the hottest option. Their garlic noodles are perfect and huge portion too. Garlic fries are always crispy 🥰 We visit at least twice a month.

My son had been dying for a seafood boil so I finally took him here for our first time and it was absolutely amazing! A little pricey but so worth it, the food was bomb even the simple chicken tenders my daughter got. The service was great and I love the little robots that bring the food out. Definitely will be going back soon.

I have dined in as well as placed an order for take out. The food is absolutely amazing and plentiful. Dining in offers an entirely different atmosphere with paper on the tables, no utensils, bibs, gloves, and a whole lot of delicious seafood brought to the table. There is a robot that brings your food which the kids seem to really like however I would like to have a more personal human experience. When ordering take out it does take about 45 minutes to get your order but greatness like this shouldn't be rushed. You can also sign up for rewards and get some fairly good discounts. If you haven't tried this establishment you need to soon.

Our server was top tier! Our party of 10 Came in on Christmas day around 6 and she did everything perfectly! shirmp, mussels, crab and corn was amazing in the Louisiana sauce. fries could be more seasoned and better and wings cooked longer but other than that everything was amazing. excellent service to the T. i would shout her name out if i could remember. very cool Environment for kids with the electric robot that delivers the food. thank you very much

One of the very few seafood restaurants in Merced, Bag O' Crab fills you up perfectly. I always passed by the location and finally tried it and was extremely surprised. The food was great as was the service and can highly recommend to those who have also been skeptical of the place. I can see myself coming again. I don't go to many seafood restaurants so I can't accurately comment on the price, but what we paid and the amount of food we received felt more than satisfactory. 👍👍

First time here was really impressed, great food , good variety of choices in the menu , I got the grilled fish was really good , normally served with rice and salad I got it with fried and salad with very generous portion , food was ready relatively fast , the waitress was very pleasant , food was brought to me with a robot yeep a robot it’s new cool thing I thought that only happens in San Francisco with those crazy techy places , also priced very reasonable , I don’t come often to Merced but if I do now I have a new favorite spot

Some things to note: the King Crab combo only came with three King Crab legs, but you get 2 small cobs of corn, 2 small potatoes, and about 13 or so shrimp. Thankfully, the food gets cooked and brought to us fairly quickly and tastes as if much more time was spent making food taste as good as it did. In general, the restaurant is worth checking out if you love, well, crab and if you have some money to spend. My total came out to $123.30, but I enjoyed the food, Val's service, the decorations on the wall, and the kawaii as heck robots that deliver the food to your table.

Love the lunch specials of Louisiana Chicken. The only thing I wish they can change is adding half and half. They have have beef and half chicken but no half chicken and half shrimp. I don't want to pay for to separate plates to have both. At least add it as sides. Other than that....tastes great.

A good variety in their menu. Fried oysters are crunchy and meaty. The grilled fish served with salad is a hearty, scrumptious healthy meal. The lobster po boy...well my daughter gave me a sweet smile after she finished it!

I agree with other reviewers that it’s quite pricey for paper plates & plastic utensils! At least they give you bibs and gloves, but they should give you a wet napkin to clean your hands when you’re done if you’re eating crab 🦀. The server was friendly & attentive. Shared a snow crab combo it was hot & tasty. However the $20 lobster tail was tough & overcooked & rubbery…. We shared a clam chowder that was delicious but it was so big 2 people couldn’t finish! Downgraded from 4 stars to 3. This location has been one of our go to places for local seafood for years BUT we may reconsider after our most recent visit. We've sat at the same area for years until recent when we were informed bye a new hostess we couldn't despite a few empty tables amongst other customers in that area. The excuse was, "we have to keep certain customers within a certain area." Well, after our awkward response of silence the hostess placed us in the originally requested area. Weird, right?

I thought the food was a nice change of flavor in Merced, which we definitely needed! The food was great, the restaurant's atmosphere felt cozy, and their prices seemed reasonable. My one critique was the drinks. I didn't think I'd pay so much for a can soda!

They have great cajun fish. Not sure i like the two robots they have delivering food. One ran into us when we were trying to exit the dining room. I guess you can hire less wait staff if you have a machine getting the food out of the kitchen. I'll go back for sure.

I love Bag O Crab restaurant. Not only do they have so many killer seafood dishes, but I discovered a hidden dish that no one even knows about. They have one of the most delicious short rib dishes I have ever had. The marinade they use is to die for. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

The staff is really nice!! Clam chowder is the bomb😋 just ask for extra crackers. LoL. But I wouldn't suggest the calamari rings. Way over cooked to where I couldn't even rip them apart much less try to chew it. Otherwise nice place.

I brought the rest home to enjoyed the next day.

I was very disappointed for the price i paid for my meal. Grab legs of 8 were very dry, grab meat didnt come out in a whole piece was very stringy and stuck to the shell had to scrape it out. For a extra order 1corn and sausage and 6 small potatoes total price $46.00

Food is amazing but very poor management. Hostess was not polite/friendly and told us 20 minutes but didn’t ask our name (I guess she was just going to remember who was in line). Waited for 45 minutes to be seated. They also had more than 12 tables open but a very full waiting area!!! They had been open for 2.5 hours on a Sunday and already ran out of water?!!! I don’t understand how that can happen. Servers were rushing around, manager should Have stepped out to help. They need more than 2 servers at a time especially on a weekend. 3 starts because the food was very good! But management/service needs to improve!

The tasted great. All our food came out with good time, except 1 of 2 child's meals. By the time it came my child was full from eating everyone else's food. While there were other items on the menu that were worth having, such as the fried shrimp, Po' Boy sandwich, and wings, for those who specifically crave crab and meat, this restaurant might not be the best choice. Furthermore, I found the prices a bit steep for the quality you receive. Considering the lack of substantial portions in certain dishes, it felt like I was paying more for the name rather than the actual quality of the food. Ultimately, while the staff at this restaurant was extremely friendly and the servings were large, the lack of quality in certain dishes, particularly the ribs and crab, left me disappointed. 1st time I checked to see what time they closed online it said 9pm and it was 8 o'clock so I called and they said they was closed so I contacted them and they said sorry that they would make it right the next day. Called the next day I ordered 3 fried shrimp cause they was out of I originally wanted crab. Paid $68 and they ended up giving me fried fish which I did not want.No shrimp whatsoever in my bag so this place the food was all right I guess I can get fish fried anywhere but will I be going back nope.

The fries were overcooked and basically had garlic seasoning dumped on top of them. The 4 pieces of sausage in the bag were the size of a quarter and just as thin. Absolutely terrible experience for the amount of money we paid. Although the service was great, it didn't overcome the terrible food.

I come here about three times a month. Usually everything here is great. But today I had many issues. I ordered chicken tenders for my daughter. And I ordered fries for the table. Fries came out hard and stale and the tenders came out mushy. I chose not to re-order the tenders due to two issues back to back. And also there was an issue with our bill. Took the manager two tries and a little bit of having to explain What the issue was on the bill for her to fix it. And then she gives the bill to someone else to give to us as if she didn’t wanna deal with us anymore. Besides my issue, the shrimp boil Was spot on 8 out of 10…

They were playing music in Spanish only. This is not a Mexican restaurant and I feel that I should not have to listen to it.

I've never been to a place like this before - it felt almost surreal, and not in a good way. The prices at the restaurant are exorbitantly high, especially at a restaurant where you literally eat with just your hands. Ontop of easily having to pay fifty dollars for a meal for two, you are only given plastic cutlery to use, along with a plastic plate and cup. We asked our server about this, and she responded by saying it was so they wouldn't have to deal with washing out stains on the cups/silverware. I was genuinely confused, because... isn't that what a good dishwasher employee is supposed to do? The automated robot was an interesting take, but it seemed like there was next to no point in having one as a server would have to go out with it regardless, making the purpose of automation in the first place redundant. The food was nothing special either, tasting bland and generic, which was surprising given what you're paying for. The fish and chips were good, though, but I wouldn't go to the restaurant for that alone... I can definitely get with the theme of getting "Down 'n Dirty" with your hands and was open to the idea of eating without any restraint to having to deal with social etiquette, but the restaurant and the execution of that idea fell flat hard. It felt like the restaurant cut corners at any opportunity to cut costs and was tacky as hell, with not even providing decent utensils and cups/plates, using automation (although done redundantly), and the insane prices for the uninspired food. I wouldn't go here again. I respect the idea of trying something new though, so I'll give two stars. Included a picture of some of the food I had too, which... you can decide for yourself, haha. Seems to work for others, but sorry, it's not for me.

Horrible experience. Went to eat with my husband his food came out and about 15 min later the waitress came to tell me my food should be out shortly. My husband was just about done with his food so I told her to cancel my food. She looked shocked and said she had to go tell her manager. The manager came over asked if I wanted to cancel in which I replied yes. What is the point of going out to eat together if your not eating together.

All I can say is they made Bank on gratuity for their Bad Service tonight and because we had 8 people they didn't care about any of our complaints cuz their gratuity is guaranteed. They're lucky I paid the last three tickets, cuz it was my daughter's birthday & cuz the other two parties left because the service sucked we had to keep asking for stuff we needed and one person had to go to the front to place her order. I will never visit this place again guaranteed!

The seafood bag we got was overcooked, which definitely ruins it, but the flavor was great. The wait staff was distracted and hung out at the bar mostly, we got help from a server that wasn't ours. For the price, this isn't going to become a go to for us...

The very first time I ordered a bag of Cajun shirp. The lady who took my order on the phone was very rude since the beginning. Tone of voice is how the character of you business comes through in you words, both writing and spoken. She sounded frustrated. Making me uncomfortable and wanted stop my order but since my husband was craving this i continúe with the order I ask for chow main, my husband ask I am not familiar with what type of restaurant is this my husband just had ask me to call and order food for him . She was very rude, she reply “this is not a Chinese restaurant” with a bad attitude I said sorry didn’t know ..” she really made me uncomfortable. I Will never order or go there...

Ordered some food to go tonight and what a disappointment. The constistency of the sauce was horrid. The sauce was so thick it felt like eating mash potatoes. We had to wash all the sauce off and eat it plain. Spent well over $140 for pretty much boiled crab, shrimp, and corn. This is first and the last time we'll come here.

Worst attitude And wanted to charge18% for gratuity for four adults and two children. They make you tip, that is wrong. I understand that they want their tip for large parties but normally even fancy Steakhouse in the Bay Area don't even charge the gratuity if you have children in your party for group of six. If it was six adults not an issue. And normally you'd get a much bigger tip if you didn't do that for most people WILL NEVER BE BACK

I was really looking forward to experiencing a great fish restaurant here in Merced. I paid for my order at 4:42pm; ordered fish sandwich ' garlic noodles, shrimp and fried soft shell crab with salad. I waited just a little under 45 minutes for my order as I watched people who came after me who were "dining in" get there food. The music which was playing was totally inappropriate with sexual remarks and racial slurs. I wish I could share a picture of my BREAD sandwich, the fries were cold, the shrimp was tasty but cold, the only thing warm were the garlic noodles, which were also tasty. Sadly I will have to continue to wait for a good fish restaurant to come to town.

Bad customer service. Mom was treating for my birthday but the manager ruined my day my 4 year old is allergic to shrimp. so I brought him so Taco Bell so he would not be just sitting there watching us eat. the manager said no outside food tried to explain to her he had food allergie. she said well order it to go just like you ordered that Taco Bell Togo. and just walked away. never going to give them business . i never have used yelp till today so that should tell you how rude the manger was.

We went today April 17th, 2022, this will be my only visit EVER at this location. Menu's states have fountain drink with free refills. They brought cans and charged me for both cans. The spice level on the menus (don't mean a thing) because they will put as much spice as they want to. (Per the server) I ordered mild the order came out medium to hot. The excuse they said was that there spices run hot. The server saw we had a 4 year old with us. They couldn't tell us this before we ordered? I went to the manager, she said that there spices run hot. If this is a common theme then why dont they post this some where?Very poor service! No forks, no plates, the plastic gloves are cheap and break. Would NOT recommend!

Ok first off we usually love this place, and the location in BERKELEY is AMAZING! But… this location needs some major improvement. Came in to dine in at around 9:25pm and was told the cut off time was 9:30pm, we proceeded to ask for the manager and she then told us it was 9:20 instead ? Poor communication… and after attempting to order Togo the price was 82 dollars for two bags! Market price for SNOW CRAB legs was 29 dollars while the market price for KING CRAB legs was 59 dollars. Lobster tails were 18.95 (individually). Major price jump from the 13 dollar price of the lobster tails and the 18.95 market price for the snow crab legs. Not one employee was wearing mask including the manager who we seen coughing around the establishment without washing her hands after. I would not recommend this location for fellow UC students or anyone UNLESS you are attending a different location. The robots are nice but in my personal opinion not needed… maybe if they cut the cost on AI they could have better pricing options. Again LOVE the chain, HATE this location.

Was definitely not thrilled about this place since walking in. We weren’t greeted, just immediately asked how many in our party and sat us down. Our waiter was extremely forgetful and slow, we had to keep repeating and reminding him what we needed when he kept forgetting. The place was not busy, there was no wait and not a lot of people for a Friday evening. The food portions were WAY smaller than their other location in Modesto, they don’t serve mixed drinks here either. My daughter loves this place because it’s local for us, BUT I would rather drive all the way to Modesto for bigger shrimp and ALOT more crab. I left here feeling grossed out and I felt like I didn’t eat at all. For myself I’d rather go to the Modesto location. Faster service better atmosphere and extremely fast!

Didn’t like any of it. Nobody told me I had to get snow crabs in order to get some crab ordered the $45 plate with the crab shrimp, corn and potato not the potato. The only thing I liked was a corn on the cob. The sauce was too oily, the flavor wasn’t there for me I will never go back because I’m mad. I spent almost 50 bucks and didn’t even get to eat a piece of crab called back then I called back and there was no suggestion on bringing it back or let me make it right none of that so I will never eat there again .

I've been coming to Bag of Crab Merced for over the past two years. However, within the past year the quality of the seafood bag as diminished in regards to the sauciness. The seafood bags have become less and less saucy up until my recent order on 5/12/24 where my seafood bag was dry. And yes, I ordered the atomic sauce. Good thing I ordered extra sauce that helped to cover the items in my seafood bag with flavor. I'm really disappointed with quality I have experienced within the last year. I order a seafood bag once every two months. That's 6 times out of the year!

Ordered 3 customized bag of shrimp & garlic noodles. Flavor was great, except for 2-3 hard shrimp. I wonder if the duelo is even fresh or frozen for years. Developed a sudden allergic reaction. Will not be coming back here.

Bag o crab is delicious but I dont eat seafood so I requested a boil with only sausage and eggs and they denied me said I (have) to order seafood with it. I just didn't order at all. All other restaurants customize orders if needed why can't I here? The woman who answered the phone was very rude as well.
