Miami International Airport (MIA) is a bustling hub that impresses with its efficiency and modern amenities. From check-in to security, the process is generally smooth, and the staff are professional and helpful. The airport offers a wide range of dining options, from quick bites to sit-down restaurants, as well as numerous shops for last-minute essentials or souvenirs. Lounges provide a comfortable space to relax before your flight, and free Wi-Fi keeps travelers connected. The terminals are clean and well-maintained, with clear signage that makes navigating the airport straightforward. Overall, Miami Airport provides a convenient, well-organized, and pleasant experience for both domestic and international travelers.

Hard to believe that ATL airport is bigger than this! This. Is. LARGE! Well staffed. Some friendly done not but hey… it’s the airport. What are you gonna do🤷🏽‍♀️! Lots to see and do and but if that’s what you want. This is the first and currently only airport that has “smart wheelchairs”. They have to embrace more and ever changing technology to contend would with the increasing size of the airport and the millions of people that pass through! When passengers are finished you leave it where you are - like the scooters and the chair will wait at that point until it’s baked into sense again or when 15 seconds have passed. Enjoy the amenities!

I had approximately a 6 hour stopover at Miami International Airport from my flight leaving Mexico City and onto Buenos Aires, Argentina. What a great airport to stopover. I was able to stretch my legs and cover 5km of walking back and forth between the terminals. For my meal break, I stopped over at Corona Beach House.

What a huge airport. We are flying out of H terminal and had a good 1.13 mile walk this morning before our flight in both H and J terminal. H terminal has lots of carpet making pushing / pulling luggage have some extra effort. J terminal has nice waxed floors easier on the walking. We could a wonderful quote in the floor spanning a long part of the J Terminal walk from The Everglades River of Grass written by Marjory Stoneman Douglas.

It’s warm in FL so you can feel it’s def not cold in this airport! Welcome to warm weather and Latin food and Spanish being spoken. I love it. This airport is clean and modern and fun art and sculptures. And driverless wheelchairs! Amazing.

I just love this airport and Miami as a whole. I've visited and passed through this airport for years but this time was a little bit more special. I flew in from upstate and caught my connecting flight to my final vacation destination about a week ago. My connecting gate was D40 and right in the middle wre drums, dancing and fellowship! I made the comment, "This is so Miami!" and happened to be standing next to one of the curators of the event. It was very welcoming and enjoyable to watch! I love it!

I can't say enough about the outstanding service that AA offered myself and my wife. We had a very tight connection and the staff at the Miami airport knew it before we even did. We exited the plane and an outstanding staff member was waiting for us to make sure we would make our connection. She swept us away and got us to our gate with out a hitch. The professionalism and dedication was obvious as to was her associate. I recommend getting the AA Mastercard and using it to the degree to enjoy the perks that comes with it.

Easy to navigate Airport with several lounges available. Several restaurants are available. This Airport also has electronic wheelchairs that are self driven. There are many retail shops. There is a waiting area outside of the airport for a ride. Share for Uber and Lyft.

Very nice and beautiful airport with diverse community. Huge airport but need little improvements in term of ease of transport. Too busy for the size of the airport and the people they handle are mostly from South American and so more Spanish speaker and people and customer care is more for them . But overall nice place . Designed nicely but too many people comes around . Nice shops and restaurants to browse around . Beautiful view of the landing and departure of planes with the Miami and biscane bay view which are one of the best in the world

1. Gateway to Latin America MIA is the largest US gateway for flights to Latin America and the Caribbean, almost like the hemisphere’s hummingbird highway. 2. One of America’s Busiest It regularly ranks among the top 10 busiest airports in the US by passenger traffic and top 3 for international passengers. 3. Cargo Titan MIA is the #1 US airport for international cargo. If luxury goods had a secret clubhouse, its back door would probably open here. 4. Three Mighty Terminals The airport is organized into North, Central, and South terminals, each with its own constellation of concourses. 5. Home Base for American Airlines It’s one of the largest hubs for American Airlines, with hundreds of daily departures. 6. Cultural Art Everywhere MIA is known for its award-winning public art program, turning its corridors into an evolving gallery. 7. Opened in 1928 Born in the roaring twenties, MIA started as Pan Am’s base of operations and has evolved into a global aviation giant. 8. Massive Footprint It sprawls across 3,230 acres, a miniature city that never sleeps. 9. Metrorail Connection The airport is linked to downtown Miami through the MIA Mover and Orange Line, making transit smoother than a Cuban cafecito. 10. Wildlife-Friendly Runways Because it’s near the Everglades, MIA uses advanced bird-detection and wildlife-management systems to keep runways safe.

Miami International Airport (MIA) isn't just an airport; it’s a powerhouse. As America’s busiest hub for international freight and the primary gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, MIA is the heartbeat of South Florida’s economy. We aren't just growing; we’re evolving. Through our $9 Billion Modernization in Action (M.I.A.) Plan, we are redefining the passenger experience: • New Concourse K: Construction is underway to add much-needed capacity. • A New Landmark Hotel: A 450-room, world-class on-site hotel is officially in the works. • Smart Infrastructure: From AI-driven maintenance for our 600+ escalators/elevators to 126 brand-new glass-walled boarding bridges. MIA is more than a departure point—it’s where Miami meets the world.

A Dynamic Global Gateway with True Miami Energy Miami International Airport is a major international hub that captures the vibrant spirit of Miami from the moment you arrive. As a key gateway between the Americas and the world, it offers extensive global connectivity and a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere. The terminals are modern, spacious, and well equipped, with clear signage and efficient passenger flow. Security, customs, and immigration are handled professionally, especially impressive given the airport’s high volume of international travelers. The staff are helpful and experienced, keeping things moving smoothly. Dining and shopping options are diverse and reflective of Miami’s multicultural character, offering everything from quick bites to local flavors and international brands. Transportation access is excellent, with easy connections to downtown, South Beach, and surrounding areas. Overall, Miami International Airport delivers efficiency, scale, and energy all in one place. A busy but well-managed airport that serves as a strong and reliable gateway to South Florida and beyond. ✈️ An essential international hub that keeps Miami connected to the world.

Miami International Airport is one of the most convenient international hubs in the U.S. when it’s running properly. Immigration and customs are generally efficient compared to other major gateways, especially for international arrivals. Signage is clear, terminals are easy to navigate, and the Skytrain makes moving between concourses manageable. There’s a solid variety of dining options, lounges, and shops, and the airport reflects Miami’s international character better than most. Security and baggage can still be inconsistent during peak hours, and some areas feel dated, but overall MIA handles huge passenger volume better than people give it credit for. For a gateway connecting the Americas and Europe, it does its job well.

I had a great experience at Miami International Airport. From the moment I arrived, everything was smooth and well-organized. The signage is clear, making it easy to navigate between terminals even if you’re not familiar with the layout. Staff were friendly and professional, both at security and immigration. There’s also a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes to enjoy while waiting for your flight. I was impressed by how clean and well-maintained the entire airport was, despite the high volume of travelers. Definitely one of the most efficient and comfortable airports I’ve been through. Highly recommended!

Wow, part of our happiness on our Muami trip was your airport! You have done a great job installing the various country flags, paintings in the gates, and cleanliness, you name it.

A convenient and busy airport near the city. The airport features a few Latino artists' collections; don't forget to check them out! There are public transportation going to Miami city. But if you driving, do additional traveling time, even if you are only going a few miles from the airport; there are often traffic in the morning/late afternoon/early evening that can easily take extra half an hour. Lots of shopping options for last-minute souvenir and local tastes. However, the demotic terminals can be over-crowded near the weekends and barely have enough seats for all passengers. The international terminals, if not far away from where your gates are, can sometimes have open spaces and seating areas if your flight is not coincides with too many international flights. That's a potential space to check the last-minute work emails or travel destination information before boarding a long flight.

I love flying in and out of MIA. One of the nicer airports in the U.S. especially if you fly out of the newer terminals D or J. The other terminals are pretty basic. Modern design and clean facilities. Cool artwork throughout. The airport is fast and efficient except when there’s a storm and flights are grounded. Access to premium airport lounges, depending on the terminal. One secret is to get picked up on the departures floor upstairs, which is usually less congested than arrivals downstairs.

I loved flying in/out of Miami International Airport during my visit. The Airport seems to be very organized for the most part given how some parts of the terminal are old and can confuse some travellers. Lot of other airlines share counters in the departure area since this airport is a huge hub for American Airlines and they have a lot of flights out of Miami compared to many other airlines. I flew from Terminal H which is shared by both international airlines alongside Delta & United. Lots of restaurants too you can find and also windows everywhere which allows you to do some planespotting before your flight!

The airport is convenient with a single terminal, eliminating the need for terminal transfers or shuttle buses. However, expect significant walking as the SkyTrain is unreliable, with frequent breakdowns of escalators or the train itself. When functional, the SkyTrain is helpful. The airport offers numerous lounges and generally efficient security. It’s a major hub for American Airlines, providing a wide range of international flights. Taxis and rideshare services are plentiful. Daily parking costs $30.

Nice airport, but everything is sprauling. The tram and moving sidewalks helps some. There still is quite a haul between the rental car lot and the airport. Rent a cart if your luggage is heavy! Mine was full of wet scuba gear.. In one spot, there can be a long line to access the only elevator that will take you to the departures floor. The other elevator appears to be out of commission and there are no escalators. Leave extra time for this.

Nice airport which was pretty business on both my inbound and outbound flights. Passport control inbound took approx 2 hours! There were plenty of taxis available once out of the airport. Outbound was a much quicker process. I found the layout a little strange in that there are lots of shops and food outlets but not much seating other than at the gates.

The airport is large and looks reasonably well-maintained. I liked the pet area because it was clean, and my cats were able to rest for a while. At immigration, we waited in line for quite a while, and they detoured to check the cats, but all the immigration officers were very professional, friendly, and polite.

Miami International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country, and for good reason — it does a lot of things right. The layout is huge and can feel overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, the terminals are fairly easy to navigate thanks to clear signage and plenty of moving walkways. There’s also a wide range of food and shopping options, from quick grab-and-go bites to sit-down restaurants that reflect Miami’s culture and international vibe. Security and customs here are generally efficient considering the sheer volume of travelers that pass through every day. Lines can get long during peak hours, but the staff usually keeps things moving. I’ve also found the airport to be clean and well-maintained, with plenty of seating areas and charging stations available — a big plus when you’re waiting out a layover. The one area that keeps me from giving MIA a full five stars is the congestion. Traffic outside the airport is often hectic, and baggage claim can feel chaotic when multiple flights arrive at once. Still, for such a large international hub, Miami does a solid job of balancing efficiency with amenities. Overall, MIA is a strong airport experience — not perfect, but definitely one of the better large airports in the U.S.

I spent the day here in the Miami airport. The signage is poor with a sign i ficating to go up and right to my gate. But it turned out the sign meant to go straight and not go up. The sign for checkpoint 1 is about 40 feet from the real check point 1 The signage for gates is good and visible The accessible restrooms offer open door entry and dedicated stall with 2 grab bars and 4ftx 4 ft space. The airport offers a variety of eateries from International Au Bon Pain and local favorites like cafe Vincennes and La Carreta. Eateries and shops are Aceesibke open entry and venues. The floors here are different types of terrazzo like black and white with golden designs. The floors reflect the lights and can cause a visual challenges for some people. Today I was offered a sample of Bombay Sapphire which was my first tasting in an airport Men’s and women’s accessible restrooms are located in several areas with dedicated stalls 2 grab bars and 4ftx4ft space with mostly hands free operation

I love this airport because it offers a great variety of food options😆. The bathrooms are 60% clean. The lines at check point are huge, but they go pretty fast. I also find entertainment watching the constant stream of planes taking off and landing.

It's huge airport, with lots of shops and places to eat and drink. It's a little bit confusing at first. some parts look a bit dated. The gates aren't all together as they place shops and restaurants between them, so you can end up walking about a mile to your gate, but they do have the handy SkyTrain if you don't like exploring. One thing I found a bit funny as someone who isn't American is the toilets have huge gaps between the floor and the cubicle wall, so it doesn't feel very private. Ultimately it has all the conveniences you would want in an airport, but it didn't wow me at all.

The airport layout at this airport is a little confusing for rookies like me, and the signage could have been clearer. Still, most of the people I interacted with were nice and helpful. There was a good variety of dining and shopping options to check out while we waited for our flight.

Miami International Airport (MIA) is massive and can be quite overwhelming. My biggest piece of advice: make sure you know exactly where you are going and which door you need before you start moving, as the walks between gates are not short. The amenities are very hit-or-miss depending on which terminal you are departing from; some sections are modern and well-equipped, while others feel "under-functioning" with very few food or shop options. On the plus side, the airport is very bilingual—most staff speak both English and Spanish, which is helpful. Overall, give yourself ample time to navigate this layout so you aren't rushing!

D
Dayana Medina

For the most part my experience went great with MIA in exception of specific moments like when you have to step out of your Uber or transportation in the chaotic entrance. First of all, they don’t have any helpful signage in which I can refer to, to know exactly where I have to head toward. Whenever you arrive to the self service kiosk at last for your specific destination, there’s a lot of airport workers standing there pretty much wasting the space that is to be used by customers to do what has to be done on the kiosk. Since they’re already taking up space might as well guide & direct people over to the kiosk instead of using up space standing there. It’s hectic & messy in the entrance, the rest of the process in other areas are smooth.

The airport is huge and haven't used parking or shuttle services here. I have visited this airport probably 3 times over the past 5 years. This is typically busy during the evenings so plan accordingly. The restrooms are not maintained well. The food options within the airport is good. The security check in could be challenging at times and expect lot of walking to your gate. Overall good airport but needs lot of planning on this one.

D
David Murphy

Our first time transiting through MIA. It’s January 26th 2026 and the place is packed with People due to the severe winter storm Fern. Inn general they are keeping up with emptying garbage and recycling. Lines for popular restaurants could stand to be roped to keep them out of the way of foot traffic. The American Airlines ticket change counter had a line that was over 100 yards long. Bathrooms are unfortunately in need of service and a good mop. One of the things I enjoyed was the terrazzo floors in concourse D with brass inserts of diatoms and other microscopic life rit large. See photo.

K

Airport was easy to maneuver through. The airline staff were friendly and helpful. The airport staff that we encountered were very busy either being overworked or too busy talking to eachother to help customers.

G
GT Hodge

It’s fairly large, and overwhelming to some travelers. Lots of shops and much walking. The airport hotel here is not nice. Main plus is that this airport is close to downtown and Coral Gables. SkyTrain does not work. Bathrooms frequently and excessively closed for cleaning while the cleaning crew sits outside taking a break, ridiculous.

M
Marcus Ballyn

Very close to the airport. Large reception area, small pool, and gym. Rooms are spacious with large comfy bed. Huge TV, coffee machine, large double size shower. Unfortunately our shampoo, shower gel and conditioner was empty (bit late to ask when already in the shower). Staff all pleasant and attentive.

M

Great airport. Check-in desks for BA were not well staffed but that's an airline issue not the airport. Really easy to navigate and security staff were friendly and efficient.... What more could you ask for. Could have done with a Starbucks after security maybe?

F

A super solid airport. If this isn't your home airport it can be a tad bit confusing, with signage lacking compared to other airports. But overall it's a well kept airport, has efficient staff, and has a lot of dining and shopping options. Also they do offer a ton of great routes.

Y

This is my second time traveling through this airport. My first experience in the airport was OK however this time things were so much smoother. Is it a nice looking airport aesthetically pleasing? Absolutely not. However, it is right now under construction and some updates are being done. This time my flight was with frontier which at the entrance of the airport it says is 18 however it’s actually 14 so keep an eye on that . Check with frontier was quick and easy and at the time I went, there was no one. TSA line was super short for this gate and went by quick. It’s OK about 30 minutes from checking in through the airline to get to my gate. Overall is not bad, flying in or out of this airport specially when you can find cheaper flights .

L

Got to give it a 4. Normal airport, with planes. Nothing stands out to make it a 5. Istanbul is a 5, heck Miami may even be a 3 compared.

R
Ryan Shreve

The airport has definitely improved over the past year. Updated signage, stations or maps with food and not just terminal info would be nice. For the most part it is very easy to navigate and we've never had much problem getting through TSA security. Just don't go through the automated XRay line. It is significantly slower than the normal ones.

J
Jesús Hernández Turro

The security line was so short that it took me less than 5 minutes to get thru. Always appreciate when TSA doesn't hold people for too long unnecessarily. Keep it up!

The food choices are nice but the airport is not very clean. The Men's Room I used was one of the worse smelling I've encountered in any airport, even with the cleaning crew trying valiantly to keep it clean.

I feel as though if I were to attach pictures people would think the airport deserves a 2 star review. Giving 3, feeling generous. Did I have to go down an external ramp outside like in the 50’s, or LGB airport, yes. Was their inside ceiling tiles falling down on the way to baggage claim, again, yes. It’s a very crowded airport with average to bad signage and a baggage claim that constantly errors out or alarms. Plus you have to walk a mile to find the correct baggage claim. I did see a sandwich place that seemed like pretty good food in the baggage claim area, so kudos for that! Here’s the thing…is a 3 star review going to prevent you from flying here? Of course not. Just have low expectations on your experience and you’re golden. Revision…found some pics i’m attaching.

Miami International Airport is huge. It is made for fearless travelers. It is not for the timid. Its massive size and congested layout can be daunting. Luckily it is easy to find your numbered terminals and gates. I did not drive myself to the airport. That in itself is a maze with many entrances, exits and car parks. American Airlines has its own area which is kinda perfect, lol. Inside the airport, there are many choices of food shops, drink stops, restaurants, shopping zones etc You can be thoroughly entertained especially if you have long layovers 😁 There's plenty seating. The chairs are not comfortable for naps. I have seen people asleep on the carpeted floors awaiting their flights. The air trains and moving walkways are a plus. I do love MIA as a transfer point to other countries once I gather my bearings lol

Miami International Airport was one of the good airports I liked in the old days. However, it is time to update the supporting equipment in the airport. The airport has no water refilling nozzle for water bottles. It has a few drinking water fountains, but more than half of them are broken. It is very hard or impossible to fill the water bottles. No USB ports or AC outlets are near all the chairs at the gates. It has a few AC outlets in one small area at the gates. I saw many people had to find outlets and sit down on the floor. The Miami International Airport may have been very nice in the past but it is not very convenient to meet what tourists need today!

Sean Higgins

Miami International Airport offers a wide range of food and shopping options, which makes long layovers manageable and gives travelers plenty of choices. That said, the overall experience could use an upgrade. The terminals felt very busy and somewhat disorganized, and cleanliness could be improved in several areas. Despite the crowds and clutter, staff were generally accommodating, and the variety of amenities helps offset some of the congestion.

A
Alexander May

Overall clean and decently efficient, lacks enough sit down restaurants and cafes for the amount of people coming through. Very few spots to charge electronics, not enough lounges and the ones that are there are overbooked. Finding a spot where you can sit down, plug in your electronics and just relax while you wait for your flight are next to impossible to find.

G

At first glance, I thought MIA was a good looking airport. Pretty well laid out, good tram, etc. Having spent a few hours, I realized MIA prioritizes shopping and restaurants over having nice bathrooms. Not a choice I would have made for an International airport but I understand money talks. Power outlets are unfortunately rare at MIA and most of them are attached to advertising signs that only a couple seats reach. The waiting area seats are the standard hard, no comfort, brutalist model found in almost all US airports. Something they borrowed from hostile architecture to punish the homeless and now use on airport passengers suffering layovers. What really drove me bonkers at MIA was the incessant "3 bell chime" that rang in the waiting area for 3 hours straight. Who's sick idea was that hellish tourture? I'm only giving MIA 3 stars because it was clean. Otherwise I'd given the level of form over function being applied to this airport 2 stars. If you visit airports to shop, you will love MIA.

R
Ryan Archibald

Terminal concourse H cleverly had most everyone standing in line for well over an hour, I'm guessing so that they can try to sell/upsell tsa pre checks, and clear pre checks... It was early too (5:00am). Anyway, the airport is spread out and when the construction is some it'll be better.

American Airlines Terminal D. Food and vendors were fine and what you would expect. My wife refused to use three different restrooms because they were filthy. The men's restrooms were not much better. In one a toilet was overflowing. In another a toilet was constantly flushing at full force. Overall the cleaning staff were standing around talking and not working.

We flew into Miami from Greensboro, for a connecting flight to San Salvador. You get off the plane on the tarmac but luckily they have a covered walkway because it’s a long walk to the terminal Al and it is hot. It’s a bit confusing but they do have employees directing you at certain locations so you don’t get lost. They have a lot of bilingual employees which is great for an international airport that gets people from all over the world. However, a few of those employees have an attitude and are not very helpful. The airport itself is a maze and huge. We were lucky that our connecting flight was very close. If not you would have to take the tram to wherever your connection is. Lots of walking which is tiring and some people can get lost and confused very easily. Hope we do t ever get stuck here like the last TWO times. Once even having to rent a car and drive 13 hours to get back because they could not give is a flight for 3 days! Hoping this trip goes better as well as the returning flight that also connects here!

La Carreta restaurant was awesome as usual. Fresh cooked food. Excellent service. It's the only restaurant I will eat at when I have a layover at the MIA airport. Terminal D needs a major upgrade. There are very few charging stations. I had to charge my phone two gates away. The charging ports at that gate (D51) were grimy and filthy. One of the stools at the station was missing a cushion. Both Womens restrooms I visited were dingy and had years of built up dirt on the tiles/caulk. The bathroom doors looked like they hadn't been wiped clean in a very long time. Each restroom had a small number of stalls and most were impossible to maneuver in and out of with luggage in tow. Get it together MIA! There is A LOT of revenue flowing into your airport. Put some of that money toward passenger comfort!

K
Kevin N

Airport is fine, not much to expect. Things to note: Baggage claim is on the other side of the planet from arrivals - and if you plan on renting a car - you then go BACK to the previous side of the planet. There are some moving sidewalks that WOULD be nice if they were on/working... I think we got lucky 2 of the 4 worked. The train is a nice thing to catch if you want to skip a bus ride.

EASY TO NAVIGATE!! Miami International Airport is a breeze to navigate, both inside and outside the terminals. The layout is straightforward, making it easier for travelers to get around quickly. I hope renovations at the airport make possible the connection between north, central and south terminals, currently it is impossible to move between terminals without exiting security. I appreciate the variety of lounges available, and my personal favorites are the American Express and Delta lounges – they offer a comfortable, relaxing environment with great amenities. However, not everything is up to par. The Central Terminal and Concourse E in Terminal North are in serious need of renovation. These areas feel outdated, crowded, and lack sufficient space, especially considering the large number of international flights departing from Concourse E. While it’s great to see some parts of the airport shining, the older sections really need a modern update. Renovations are definitely welcome, but they need to happen faster to improve the overall experience. Despite these issues, Miami International has its strengths and remains a key hub for travelers. Highly recommended for improvement.

I was disappointed in this airport. The bathroom was old and not nearly as clean as I thought they should be. They had a food court with quite a few options and an Illy coffee bar. I chose to go to one of the two Starbucks nearest me instead. Overall, it was definitely not an airport that I wanted to spend six hours in, but I did not have a choice. On a positive note, security was a breeze and TSA employees were relatively kind.

J
Jennifer Zou

This place is pretty hilarious if you enjoy people watching and swatting mosquitoes and fruit flies away from your face. Nice music which I didn’t expect at all since usually airports repeat useless announcements over and over. I was planning to take a nap in one of the abandoned disabled corners and hope no one robs me, but I’m thoroughly entertained by how awful it is being surrounded by shady homeless people staring at me before I can finally pass through security since apparently they can’t run flights all night. There’s a long list of other complaints too like how dirty it is and creepy flickering lights but I forgot since obviously money isn’t being spent on this public facility

R

This airport needs serious upgrades and security from police to Tsa not the best and you better security measures and protocols in place for the safety of the public but overall not the worst airport I’ve seen

Have you ever had a car that was functional to the point that it got you to work and the grocery and wherever you needed to go, but there was no joy in using it for the purpose? You didn't want to pick up any friends in it because it was kind of humiliating. Most of the "nice" features had quit working some time ago, like the power mirrors or the driver windows. That's MIA. We've been flying in there for a few years and it's just a big sprawling mess. I think there's some kind of thought process to overhaul it but it's been a long time coming. Hopefully it'll catch up with the desperate need for that market. Meanwhile, plan for long walks, poor signage and pray your flight doesn't coincide with peak times. Give yourself extra time to deal with the confusion, especially if you're doing an international flight. And avoid any of the car rentals that are offsite. Virtually all of them are second rate at best and will add lots of extra shuttle time to an already long process. Do your homework and stay on premises for rentals.

One of the worse airports. Very narrow everywhere but nevertheless very crowded too. Baggage claim or the gate areas are not made for the throughput of this airport. The staff was super friendly and the amenities are clean

W

Large international airport that seems understaffed and under-funded, as there were long lines for everything. Security check point was slow, chaotic rideshare pickup area, and due to limited food and beverage choices all the restaurants and Starbucks had long lines. Several escalators were out of service, including the elevator to the Star Alliance lounge. Just wasn’t a very pleasant traveling experience.

S
Sergei Shulikov

Great airport overall. But this bad review is to warn all flying internationally back into USA via MIA, the TSA system sucks! Bad! I’ve flown in to many major airports returning home, and the way they get your baggage and return it sucks! Especially American airline. And the TSA checkpoint is so ridiculous. It’s pathetic. A shame to our country. What’s the point of paying for tsa pre when you have to stand in line like a criminal waiting to be inspected. So when you buy a ticket back home, avoid MIA if possible.

P
P H

crowded. not a comfortable airport as people are always packed in like cattle. constant delays, tsa is inconsistent and the bathrooms are equally crowded and disgusting. this sort of environment gives way to the worst in people only shining light is the baggage claim, which is quick and efficient.

Comparing it to major Asian and European hubs, my expectations may be high, but MIA is a staggering disappointment. I can barely justify two stars for the facilities, and that’s being very generous. Operations are a complete mess; it took close to 2 hours to get through customs, and the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) was a total failure. The agent even told me that MPC 'rarely works,' so this incompetence seems to be commonplace. After re-checking my bag and heading back through security, the airside amenities are genuinely 3rd world. You’re stuck in an isolated pier with nothing but a Budweiser bar, a tiny Duty Free, and some very questionable looking sandwiches. Beyond basic, poor-quality snacks, there is zero substance here. Overall, MIA makes Europe's worst airports like CDG, LTN or MRS look like luxury. You technically could leave the airside to find better facilities outside, but then you’re held hostage by the stress of TSA and the risk of missing your flight. Avoid if you have the choice.

C
Colette St. Clair

I never expected MIA to be so old and rundown. Very hard to get food from a different terminal because each one has their own separated entrance and security.

M
Molly Dale

It’s only getting 2 stars because it got us from point A to point B without losing our luggage this time. Ts is so bad. The waiting areas are genuinely not it. The seats are hard, uncomfortable, and there are basically no outlets anywhere. So you’re just sitting there, back hurting, phone on 12%, staring into the void. Food options are mid—Especially around Gates E. There’s not much and most of it looks sad. I will say though, the pizza and the turkey panini are good. The carpeted floors are… a choice. And not a good one. They’re visibly dirty with stains from spilled drinks and crumbs everywhere. On the bright side, the birds that wander into the airport are clearly thriving. The WiFi is genuinely useless. I couldn’t even download shows before my flight. In a major international airport. In 2025. Be serious. The whole airport feels old and stuck in the 80s. Like nothing has been updated since then. It just feels tired, outdated, and kind of depressing to be in.

Pros: They have several shops and restaurants, charging places for your phone were easily found, however several don't work. Cons: They turn the AC high so high you need a jacket. Not all the charging stations work, and the bathrooms though clean were old and falling apart, in terminal E and D. Flights are OFTEN DELAYED - when I checked the delayed screen, a little more than half were delayed. I wish their management put a priority of efficiency and punctuality. Once a few flights are delayed it creates a ripple effect as they wait for flight attendants who are late from other flights. Staff is a mixed bag, some were very passive aggressive as they made announcements threatening customers over the speaker system. But when my flight was delayed and then cancelled I had a very kind staff member who was very helpful. If I can I will avoid Miami, esp when Fort Lauderdale is so close, any extra cost in tickets would be worth the confidence that your flight will be on time.

The bathroom at D23 on February 19 around 6-7pm was disgusting. The attendant was sitting in there. All the trash bins were over flowing. Two of the four hand towel dispensers were empty. Umm, maybe get up and work?! The worse part was having us get on the plane and then sit for a hour.... for snacks and then get in line for take off 🙄 You knew you didn't have everything ready!! 👎

J

Needing to exit and go back through security just to get to F gates is ridiculous. In addition the agent at checkpoint 6 was extremely rude. She kept sending me back to get a "tag" on a personal item and carry on. I explained that I wasn't checking a bag but she just kept saying I need a tag. So I went back to the counter and got a blank luggage tag for my backpack. I've never had this issue before and have traveled through this airport with the same airline on multiple occasions. Even the agent at the airline didn't understand why she wanted me to tag my backpack. The tag has no information on it.

I give only 2 stars because of the recent experience with taxi. The drivers gathered outside of the car rental center. When we walked out, they all ran into us to ask if we need a taxi or not. No line and no service staff at all. We picked up one and it is a standard look orange colour taxi. The driver looked at our 2 small luggage one medium size luggage and told us it would cost 6 dollars. I felt reasonable. Then he brought us to international hotel situated next to waterbay park. It’s a 15 minutes ride, short distance, no traffic jam. At arrival, we were surprised that he didn’t use the meter at all. And he asked 70 dollars for the course! My husband didn’t want to negotiate and we finished by paying him 65. We knew that he exaggerated the bill. But with kids here for holiday, we didn’t want to spend time on unpleasant dispute. I am disappointed by this practice in MIA. It’s unprofessional and shame for Miami.

An international airport in the southern part of US probably was very well maintained long time back. Airport looks dull and ancient compared to so many newer airports that you find in the world. It is high time they do some maintenance and get it look new as there are lot of passengers flying every minute. Immigration is worst as it takes more than2 hours to get out of airport when we visited last time.

G
Greta Gonzalez

Miami International Airport is consistently disappointing. Escalators and moving walkways are rarely working, and baggage claim delays are ridiculous, waiting close to an hour is far too common due to staff shortages and ongoing operational issues. For a major international airport, this level of dysfunction is unacceptable.

C
Christopher DuBrul

I've used 2 bathrooms in here and both of them are the worst I've experienced at an airport. The first one smelled like a port-a- potty, and the second had literal poop on the seat of a toilet. And honestly I can't blame the airport for someone squatting down behind a row of luggage carts to change her shirt instead of just using one of those bathrooms real quickly, but it was kind of weird to see happen.

Miami International Airport feels stuck in the early 80’s — dull lighting, confusing layout, and zero charm. The shops look tired and are ridiculously expensive for what they offer. To make it worse, most of them don’t even open until late in the morning, so forget grabbing a coffee or snack if you have an early flight. The staff at many stores act like helping you is an inconvenience, and the overall vibe is just cold and unwelcoming. For a city as vibrant as Miami, this airport is embarrassingly behind the times. Airport in huge need of an update.

Miami International Airport, once a major gateway to the Americas, now feels increasingly outdated and inefficient for a modern international hub. Much of the infrastructure appears to rely on old or insufficient technology, and the overall level of maintenance and cleanliness often falls short of what travelers expect from a major global airport. In several areas, the facilities show signs of wear, and the environment can feel neglected rather than welcoming. Another noticeable concern is the level of professionalism and presentation among some staff members. In a place that represents the city to millions of visitors each year, the lack of consistent professional appearance and customer-service standards can leave a poor first impression. Navigating the airport itself can also be frustrating. The layout is confusing, signage is not always clear, and moving between terminals or gates can become stressful, especially for travelers with tight connections. Instead of a smooth passenger flow, the interior corridors often feel chaotic. Additionally, the halls frequently resemble busy service lanes more than pedestrian walkways. Numerous golf carts and electric service vehicles move constantly through the same areas where passengers are trying to walk, creating congestion and making the experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. At times, it seems as if the space was designed more for vehicle traffic than for people simply trying to walk between gates. Overall, while Miami International Airport remains an important transportation hub, many aspects of the passenger experience suggest that significant modernization, better maintenance, and improved operational management would greatly enhance the airport’s image and functionality.

This was probably the worst airport I’ve ever been in and I’ve been in a lot. The floors are carpet. There’s no seats anywhere and to charge your phone. You have to stand online like you’re waiting to make a call in a prison. Trash everywhere on the floors people laying on floors, cause there’s no chairs anywhere. The bathrooms are not clean! There was no soap in any of the soap dispensers The lady working at Maestro pizza got mad at my girl because she asked for a soda. When she gave her the soda, the soda was warm.

Worst airport experience. TSA was rude to folks and took a break before 3am even though one check point was supposed to be open 24 hours. Expect long walking within the D terminal. Spent a night here without any sleep due to American Airlines canceling our Atlanta flight. The next morning the American Airlines pilot overslept and came an hour after (re) scheduled departure.

I cannot believe that multiple ‘working bars or whatever they are called have ALL their outlets out of service. Is so simple to maintain and there are too few places to charge devices or use a computer.

2/21/26: SWA to KC. WORST airport ever! No filtered water stations. Budweiser Brewhouse Corona $9.49/Bl. Tall draft $12.49 then add on automatic 18% Gratuity. Ask for water they point to cooler to buy a bottled water! Charging stations had no functional outlets at 2 stations. I’ve flown all over the US and Europe; will avoid flights here at all costs. Desantis should fix that mess!

I’m writing a review to let the Miami International Airport know about the Budweiser brewhouse restaurant inside the airport This was the absolute worst place I have ever eaten at any airport I have ever traveled through. I simply asked for somewhere to plug my computer in while I ordered food. They told me there was no outlets. I found an outlet where the tables were. They said I needed at least four people because they would fill up pretty quick. I was here an hour, and there was not one person that ever said at one of those tables. Quite frankly The entire place was disgusting, I will be notifying the health department due to how unsanitary this place is. More than likely, I’ll be contacting Maimi Dade to file an official complaint. The airport should evict and shut this restaurant down.

The literal worst airport in the world. Hope you’re in shape to run the 10k required to catch your flight. The people who work here are incredulous at the inefficiency too. Good luck not getting lost on the 10 k too because signage is absolutely no help. I am an avid international traveler and Miami International is BY far the most chaotic and least enjoyable. I would have loved to have shopped at the stores I had to jog by to catch my flight.

This airport experience has been extremely frustrating. We arrived early as recommended, but have been moved multiple times because staff don’t seem to know where to check in our airline. The process has taken over two hours just to check bags. On top of that, the airport itself is dirty and filthy, with very limited seating. Not that the seating even matters — you’re moved around so many times that you’re constantly worried about missing your flight anyway. Staff interactions have also felt rude and unhelpful. When delays like this happen, especially with items like ice, it’s common sense that a solid will eventually melt into a liquid. Really disappointed with how disorganized this has

30 June 2025: Came back thru at 4am. Every bathroom was filthy, one even serving fresh bugs on the sinks. They are hot, smelly and if a precursor to what Miami is like, no thanks. None of the chairs have power, at least in the AA terminal. You are forced to sit at a table of 6 seats for a seating area of 400+. There are no vending machines. If you are stuck here overnight there's nothing open and no place to get a bottle of water. Have not seen any refill stations for your travel container. Just the classic 50s water fountain. Starbucks at gate D10 was not the friendliest. There was a nice long line and the manager was sitting at his desk in the back. It's old and not customer friendly. 12 June 2025: Could we get a couple more bathrooms? Every single one was hot and full. I went to 4 different ones trying to find one with a shorter line.

Miami airport truly needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. Every time we have to depart or arrive at MIA there are issues. The last two times there were elevators inoperative. This time we also had to sit in the plane for 50 minutes because the jet way lost electricity and they eventually had to tug us to another gate. When we got to the luggage carousel half the luggage wasn’t there yet and passengers from an flight that arrived at the same time as us were still waiting for their luggage that was backed up behind our flights luggage. One of the worst airports in the country tbh.

Horrible airport would never recommend food sucks no stores horrible to navigate tacky and flights always get delayed and they lose your luggage. Not easy to navigate. Have been living here for two years and travel internationally and it’s horrible. Would never recommend worlds worst airport in the international section. There is no food at all. It is glum it is grey it is horrible. Do not have a layover through Miami, it’s horrid only have horrible food stores like Dunkin’ Donuts and horrible stalls. And I live here, so I know how it is.

Flight delayed, no stroller at the exit from airplane, passport check 50 minutes, luggage claim is a complete mess! - the pickup location changed 2 times and there is no way to walk through - people are confused and everyone is going from claim lane to another seeking their luggage. Another passport check and lanes are so narrow you cannot fit a stroller through! Stroller was delivered to an oversize claim. Lack of staff and nobody can help you find your luggage. Longest walking distances! If you can - avoid this messy place at all cost! Not coming here for a connecting flight ever again!!!!

Today I arrived at Miami International Airport from Madrid and went through passport control with my girlfriend and her brother. The Customs officer who processed us, Officer LOZADA, treated us in a way that was unnecessarily hostile, disrespectful, and unprofessional from the very beginning. I fully understand that Customs and Border Protection officers have the authority to ask questions and that their job requires seriousness. This is not about being asked questions. This is about the manner, tone, and attitude in which those questions were delivered. After reviewing our U.S. passports, Officer Lozada commented, “Oh, you guys are Cubans,” in a way that felt dismissive and inappropriate. The questioning that followed was aggressive and accusatory in tone. He repeatedly asked why my girlfriend’s brother traveled with us, as if normal travel arrangements required justification beyond a clear and simple explanation. When asked about our professions, we answered with our job titles. He responded that our answers were “too broad” and demanded more specificity. When we clarified that we worked for different agencies, he replied, “Who cares, you’re not the FBI. Be specific.” That comment was completely unnecessary and delivered in a belittling manner. He also asked, “What’s up with that triangle on your neck?” referring to a necklace. He questioned how we paid for the trip and why we brought souvenirs, again in a tone that felt accusatory rather than procedural. When asked about our relationship, I explained that she is my girlfriend and that her brother was traveling with us. I briefly used the term “brother-in-law” by mistake. Instead of simply clarifying, Officer Lozada responded harshly, stating, “He is not your brother-in-law. Don’t say that,” in a condescending way. At no point were we uncooperative. We answered every question respectfully and followed all instructions. There is a clear difference between firm screening and disrespectful behavior. Professionalism should always be maintained, especially in an international airport that represents the United States to the world. Miami International Airport is often the first impression travelers have of this country. Experiences like this reflect poorly on the professionalism expected from public officials. Respect should go both ways.

The slowest and most unproductive airport I've been to. So many people rushing due to slow check in counters and security. Very very poorly managed compared to so many other US airports. The Frontline staff and processes need urgent improvement for a "world class" city.

Miami International Airport is worse than a 3rd world airport. Today was a perfect example of how broken, sloppy, and flat-out embarrassing this airport is. Nothing works, no one knows anything, and no one speaks English. The airport is literally being held by duct tape and the smells of the restrooms and public areas are FOUL (as well as the employees attitude’s.) The contracted American Airlines PRE TSA ticket-checker “Maria/Marie” went out of her way to be confrontational and hostile. She wasn’t enforcing a policy — she was targeting a disabled passenger for no reason. The employee tried to invent issues that didn’t exist, and when she got proven wrong she immediately jumped to threatening to “call the cops” like a Cuban Karen over a normal carry-on that fit in the bin right in front of her. Harassment from an airport worker with a power trip who isn’t even a TSA agent. Then Remy, the Miami American Airlines check-in supervisor, made it worse. Instead of fixing my situation, he tried to gaslight me and claim I “didn’t have a first-class ticket” while I was literally holding a boarding pass that said First Class. That’s not a mistake — that’s someone who has no idea how their own system works and no business supervising. He inappropriately charged me $150 for a bag that was supposed to be included in my ticket. This airport is a mess from top to bottom. Staff across the terminals are physically and mentally slow, rude, untrained, and half of them can’t function to help anyone. It’s constant incompetence from the minute you walk in the door. Avoid American Airlines and avoid MIA like the plague. It’s chaotic, grimy, and not worth the hassle.

L
Liliana Gomez

There’s no excuse. Dirty bathrooms most of the time. I travel a lot and very disappointed that our restrooms are the worst. What is wrong with administration, this is an international airport. This is embarrassing. There was a person on “cleaning duty” but she was too busy on the phone inside one of the stalls. She was only fooling herself. Do the bare minimum and that’s what you’ll get from life, the bare minimum.

J
Jose Cruz

TSA agents in Terminal F are incompetent. Disgusting ego trips after Miami PD and homeland security cleared us. She felt entitled to continue to treat us like a threat. She wanted to brush it with “we’re both sagitarius,” “ love” No maam, a 3 inch lighter shaped like a little toy gun is not a real threat. Get what you need, throw it away, take it whatever we gotta do let’s get it over with. Please stay in your lane. And let Actual SECURITY clear it .. like they did. They were genuinely embarrassed to even get called out to check one something like that. Wasted no Time in telling us You guys are good. No more than 1/2 minutes. But No she wanted to hold the line, late passengers, upset flyers And made sure to insert her feelings and her short ego. Disgusting to be discriminated over a lighter even after Pd and home land cleared it

The most disorganized airport experience I've had to date. 4,000,000 people roaming through here, and they've got like, 6 chairs. Checking luggage is a cluster and with the exception of one super nice Delta agent and the guy at Subway, everyone else we encountered here (Miami airport employees) was rude and dismissive. Won't be traveling through here again if I can avoid it.

J
Jeff Nichter

American Airlines: Chaotic, disrepaired, lazy, stressful. They cancelled my flight twice (???) without any notification & I waited for 7 hrs to get on a plane. To sidestep any conflict, resolution, and accountability, they ask you to talk to the gate agent but there are no "gate agents"! Worst experience I've had at any airport, I fly/travel for work. Never again am I flying out of MIA

R
Rokas

Worst airport I have been. TSA is cramped and old, workers keep pushing you to take your stuff and jamming them, but there’s no place to get everything back in the bags. Duty free is literally one show and few kiosks. Waiting room is small, no area for kids, dirty. If possible, avoid this airport.

D
David Raymond

How this airport is above three stars escapes me. Literally a huge international airport and the best they can do is this nonsense? 2015 called and they want their technology back. Nothing is convenient, the whole airport is dirty and there is nowhere near enough space for the amount of human beings in this airport. I will try as hard as I cab to avoid this airport in the future. I'd rather walk.

H
Harry KQ

Named appropriately MIA and it delivers. *Missing In Action* in every single aspect. Completely disorganized, Flights routinely delayed due to "planes being too hot" I mean it's Miami what do you expect? Then it's because of maintenance issues, then you learn that the plane has been changed and you rush to the other end of the terminal to find again that the plane is also too hot and needs maintenance. Next bags and crew are missing, and the the reason for delay is waiting on fuel. By this time the departure time of the flight has inched by 15 minutes intervals spanning 2hr. Not to mention the unfriendly, usually AA, ground staff barking instructions to a pa system that only delivers information to the people standing right at the gate. Yet, it's even worse landing here internationally, massive lines for passport control comparable perhaps to the lines of people disembarking from boats in Staten Island in the 1940s. Such a disgrace of an airport. However adequately representing the city, all this dysfunction is hidden behind a plastic veneer, everything looks nice and tidy.
