Very quick service delicious food. The sushi was incredible atmosphere was nice. Highly recommend also reasonably priced.
Best happy hour in Arlington. Amazing happy hour deals and service is nice and friendly. Good food and good sake. A must if you are looking for the best happy hour deals in Arlington. (You have to sit at the high tops or bar to get the happy hour deals)
Sushi Rock is our go-to sushi place in Arlington. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with lovely urban views. We absolutely love the sushi! I’m not as adventurous as my husband with roll choices, but we always get a variety and they’re all delicious. We tried the tempura fried ice cream for dessert and it was amazing!
Great sushi experience ❤️❤️. A few good deals for happy hour and the establishment was not busy at all. Sushi came out quickly and the service was excellent. Fish was fresh and rolls were great. Nice portions for the price and would def visit again.
I decided to go with my daughter last minute option, they close late which is a plus on Arlington area , the Flavor of the food it was good, fresh. Service was overwhelming my appetizer was on my table before my drink then when I asked her for my drink she realized that. However Drinks were great I really enjoyed them. The light is too Dark and the music was to loud and nothing of rock!
The waitress was very patient and friendly when recommending her fav rolls. We tried the following one and I was amazed 👍 You shook me all night long - this roll was amazing. It’s not raw and it was prepared with a rich, fresh layers of texture I also had the classic ramen noodle which was way better than I expected. The base wasn’t salty and the noodle was the firm/stretchy type. Service was relatively fast (~15min wait time) so also making it a great place for a quick stop
We’ve been to sushi rock so many times and it has always been a hit! Most recently we checked out their happy hour and OMG ITS AMAZING!! The drinks, food, and service are FANTASTIC!! Huge shout out to our server ELI who gave incredible service during a super busy Sat night. You are the best!!! Highly recommend the white rabbit cocktail, fried dumplings, kalbi tacos, and bulgogi sliders.
This place was so good and different. Eating sushi to the sounds of rock and roll 🎸 is so fun! The decor was really interesting. The food was the star of the show. It was so good! They had really interesting vegan and vegetarian item which I loved. I’ll find a reason to go back to that area and get more!
First of all, this is the place you want to go if you are in Clarendon area and craving sushi. Environment is so unique as well. You can clearly do outside sitting and not exposed to street too much away from the cars or you can do indoor sitting with super high ceiling and refreshing openness. Their food is amazing. I ordered the platter as shown in picture and they really take their time to make it intricate and right. The tower is also great as you can see from the picture and it is rich in flavor. Their rolls are also great and you really got to try them. If you don't k or the names, just show my pictures and you will have a great experience! Yummy!
Just had dinner at Sushi Rock and wow what a great spot. The whole experience was smooth and super enjoyable, but the sashimi was the real standout for me. Fresh, buttery, and sliced perfectly it basically melted in my mouth. You can really taste the quality. The rolls were creative and delicious too we had Rainbow Roll and Free Fallin both packed with flavor. The vibe inside is relaxed but modern, with a fun energy. Great for a casual night out or even a date. Service was friendly and on-point. Prices felt fair for the quality, and everything came out pretty quickly. You can tell they care about both the food and the customer experience. If you’re into sushi especially sashimi Sushi Rock is 100% worth checking out.
I love sushi Rock. The food is so delicious and often very fresh. The staff are always so nice to me, I've been coming to eat here for years. I was introduced by a friend who lived in the apartments above. My go to sushi rolls are LIGHT MY FIRE ROLL, TORNADO ROLL, RAINBOW ROLL and YOU SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG ROLL. I love the flavorful eel sauce along with the spicy mayo. Every time friends or family come visit I always recommend Sushi Rock. the cocktails are good as well. The ambiance is very nice and spacious. There is upstairs and downstairs seating along with outdoor seating when weather permits. It is very clean and has an upscale appearance inside. Thank you to the team always for your service and commitment to being one of the best in the area!!!
This is a great place with very high quality sushi. The place is in a beautiful location surrounded by nice residential apartment buildings. The restaurant has outside seating in a nice and spacious patio. The service was very friendly and fast. The sushi was very good and fresh as well as the appetizer and desert. They have a good selection of wines and beer that pair well with the entrees. Overall a very good experience and will certainly revisit!
I was walking when a sudden storm hit. The owner of the restaurant (I assume) quickly signaled for me to come inside to avoid the rain. He handed me tissues and an umbrella and told me to sit and wait as long as I needed until the storm calmed. He was incredibly kind, and I couldn’t thank him enough. I’ll definitely be coming back to eat here in the future (I actually ordered from here a few times a year ago, and the food was amazing). Highly recommend this place and thank you again for helping me during the storm! :)
Rachel was a great waitress and the ice cream tempura was 10/10
This is THE PLACE for sushi happy hour! $6 rolls which are absolutely delicious and drink specials. The service is great too, the last time we went the bar area was full so they sat us at a table and still allowed us to order from the happy hour menu (usually bar only). The bartender Eli is super friendly and always recognizes us when we come in.
Sushi Rock Clarendon is an absolute hit parade. Our server today Q was on it from the moment we walked in, giving exemplary service. Every dish is a certified banger—from the spicy, crunchy Rock & Roll Roll to the buttery Tuna Tataki. Fresh, inventive, and bursting with flavor. The service is top-tier—fast, friendly, and fun—and Z, the manager, is a total rockstar, making every visit feel like VIP treatment. This place doesn’t miss. Come hungry, leave hyped.
My favorite place to eat in Arlington! Degie always makes us feel at home and the food taste 100% better when she’s our server!
Server was great during our lunch even though we had 2 more show up later. Miso soup was very good! Sushi had quite a few really good options. I wouldn't say it's the best sushi ever but it was very good and a good value! I'll definitely be back. I did notice free garage retail parking right next door which is a big plus. 4.5* overall
The best happy hour in all of Arlington. My personal favorite
Been wanting to try this place out. I follow them on Instagram. Very good first impression we were immediately seated and served. Food was delicious (Proud Mary i think that’s the name) is the name if this dish! The shrimp fried rice was also delicious. I live in Maryland so not sure how often we would visit but definitely worth the trip!
I love coming here! The pork belly bao are delicious! We get that to share and then I had lettuce wraps, its refreshing and filling due to the buckwheat noodles! My husband also had 4 different sushi rolls, fresh and made to order. In total with drinks about $70. Lunch special is great too!!
Good sushi, fun atmosphere, friendly help. Besides being conveniently located in a great neighborhood, what more could you ask for? Price? Well, it's Arlington (Clarendon neighborhood) so it's a premium but you get what you pay for here. We felt like it was a good enough value and we enjoyed our 1st meal there so it is now on top of our list for sushi places near us. We will be back and you should try it!
One of best experiences I have had in a while! Maybe I was just hungry, LOL Regardless; it hit the spot. Go try them out!
Only leaving this review because we had Omar as a waiter tonight and he was so attentive and kind! Made our double date so enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back.
A few blocks from the Court House Metro Station, this is a fantastic venue for sushi. Vibrant atmosphere. Wonderful service. Superb sushi. Upbeat music. Reasonably priced. Four excellent rolls (Spicy California, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Cucumber), a tasty perfectly crunchy seaweed salad, and two Miso soups for under $35 (pre-tip). Our server, George, was just the right level of attentiveness with a personal style that made me feel most welcome. This could become a regular place for me.
Welcoming environment, delicious food, fantastic happy hour menu, and our bartender, Emily, went above and beyond, giving us great recommendations and attentive service.
The sushi rocks! One of the best vegetarian rolls I've had.
I have been here a few times and even with the kitsch of all the rock decorations, the food quality is great. However, the last two visits are the reason I'm writing a review. I went alone on a busy night a few weeks ago, and the FOH manager was incredibly nice and helpful to me - went out of his way to make sure I was being taken care of when the staff were super busy, and he was just overall attentive and caring. Then, when I went this week and sat at the bar, I noticed a senior sushi chef training someone on how to make the rolls and cut the fish. She was so incredibly kind and positive to the newer person - I'm pretty sure she didn't think anyone could hear her as it was loud, so it was genuine. It was just a nice touch to know that even when the chefs are busy, they take the time to be good people. Go for the food quality, return for the people quality.
Had a great meal from Sushi Rock last night...thanks for the Yelp Elite perk experience! I ordered online for pickup and the process was super smooth. Sushi Rock's website rocks! It was easy to navigate the menu and order whatever your heart desires. The menu is very diverse as well; so even if you are not a huge sushi fan, you can still enjoy a great meal. I happen to like sushi; so I ordered sashimi and a couple specialty rolls. My husband is not a big sushi fan; so he ordered the spicy pork and rice as well as the steamed buns with beef short rib, and nachos. Everything was delicious. Thanks for a great experience! We'll be back. :-)
I had a great time at Sushi Rock! The food was very delicious and the service was amazing. I got the veggie roll which was so good! Our server, Game, was really kind and attentive. He even brought us ice cream to end our meal. So kind and he really made our experience a memorable one.
My first time visiting Sushi Rock. Waiters and hosts were very attentive with a well-manner. I had waiter named "Game", he is super nice and informative. Food was delicious, Korean burger, the famous crab and avocado were my fav. Happy hours menu has various options with reasonable prices. For drinks, I tried "Highway to Hell" whoaaaa strong and tasty! I made sure I find the way home! lol Also, MaryJane's Last Dance was super. I would love to go back again.
All around excellent Sushi restaurant. Deep fried California roll is a must try so rich in flavor! We got quite a few different rolls they were all excellent. The ahi tuna tower was not what I was expecting but it turned out to be surprisingly good! Only downside was when I got sashimi the cuts were WAY too thick. Just a small knit picky thing but still will come back here for sure!
This place is an exciting way of mixing sushi and rock. Probably, one of the best sushi places I've ever had in the DMV area. On this first occasion, I tried the volcano, which was slightly spicy and quite tasty. However, I prefer the "you shook me all night long"...smooth and innovative. In both cases, the rice is at its exact point and optimal texture.
Solid HH with awesome prices and great sushi too. We love to pass by here before seeing a movie at the Courthouse AMC. For the location, convenience, and price, you can’t beat it. Service is also solid and their staff is very friendly. You can normally find a seat at the bar or high tops for HH. Their dinner is good too.
I absolutely love this place! Sushi is awesome (try "light my fire" you won't regret!) and the service is always kind both at the bar and sitting tables. The place designed like a rock temple, guitars and cymbals and other instruments are used as decorations and lightnings.. and classic rock songs are played in the background. Highly recommended!
Ro Sushi completely won us over. The Seared Scallop with Miso Butter was rich and tender, and the Ro Roll was fresh and full of flavor. The Japanese pumpkin soup was a surprise favorite, smooth and comforting in a way that makes you want to slow down and enjoy it. The owner came out with extra sushi for us to try, and everything tasted incredible. My fiancée said we have to come back for her birthday—it’s that special of a place.
Delicious sushi. Fried food was too heavy for me. They tried to seat our group of 6 at a very small table. Table was suitable for 4 but they squeeze 2 seats on the ends. We ended up at a high top near the bar. No one wants to feel cramped when they’re eating.
Tasty and fresh sushi (every bite was good). They have fun sushi options and a versatile menu, food for everyone! The Happy Hour menu has good prices! Highly recommend going during their special hours. Service was pretty good and friendly, and the ambiance was so much fun- the music matched the theme perfectly! Would definitely go back!
A while back, my friend and I were searching for a Japanese restaurant serving ramen. We stumbled upon one and were delighted with our experience. The ramen was hot and flavorful, perfect for a cold and windy day. The pork belly steamed buns were delicious, and the rolls were freshly prepared and paired well with the ramen. The restaurant had a high ceiling, which made it feel spacious, and the place was clean and tidy. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Japanese food.
Local sushi spot for myself. Only been here three times but it’s a good spot. It’s pricey but you get what you pay for quality sushi. Nice outdoor patio to eat and enjoy the spring weather. Fresh, tasty and wide selection of sushi. My only issue was all the bugs on the patio. That was annoying for my boyfriend and I. Where bug spray if you eat outside in the spring or summer.
Fresh sushi. Note there is at least like a $2 surcharge for a lot of dishes if you order online through Yelp or GrubHub or whatever other food ordering medium. For example, we got the chef platter with 3 specialty rolls for $85 dining in and saw it was $105 if we ordered online. Service can be a little very slow at times, but staff are friendly.
Cool spot with a cool sushi selection & rock music. We ordered salmon & squid sashimi (the salmon was great, the squid was pretty awesome) & Sticky Fingers special rolls (I like eel, loved it) & Light My Fire (spicy salmon w jalapeno, which my wife enjoyed. Pros: Food was great & consistent from the last visit 3 years ago. Reasonably priced. Location is super convenient, space is nicely decorated & full of light. Cons: Our server was only okay, not very subtle, couldn’t hear what he was saying. The billing system on an iPad was a bit strange, irresponsive & kind of a waste of time.
Checked out Sushi Rock, and the restaurant has a fun welcoming decor with guitars and cymbals hung on the walls. The staff is welcoming, and I ordered a few dishes to try out how the food is. For appetizer, ordered the Beef Tataki, Nachos, and Tuna Tartare. For entree, ordered the Maki Rolls, Nigiri Set, and Chirashi. For dessert, ordered the Tempura Ice Cream and Lava Cake. The good: I really enjoyed majority of the sushi provided whether it was a Maki Roll or Nigiri or Sashsimi. The fish tasted really good, and didn't taste too fishy or have any weird after taste. Beef Tataki is pretty good as well, and would order another one. Desserts were delicious, where the Tempura Green Tea Ice Cream was extremely well made, and the batter on the tempura was not thick or mushy, but rather it had a nice crunch and went really well with the ice cream. The bad: While others enjoyed the Nachos, I wasn't a big fan of it since I wasn't expecting a sushi restaurant to serve nachos, but it's not something I would re-order since I would want to full my stomach with fish than chips. Overall, it was a great experience, and would definitely return if I'm in the Clarendon area looking for sushi at a reasonable cost.
Easy to find the place. Free Garage Parking available in the same building but limited spaces available. Street parking available but it’s tricky to find an open spot. It is good to have reservations, if not they will accommodate for walk-ins during non-peak hours. Weekdays and Sunday evenings are pretty relaxed. Ambiance is nice, Decor is excellent, seats are well cushioned, tables heights are decent and atmosphere is quiet. Staff and service can be improved. You have to hunt for their attention. Food quality is good. I wasn’t impressed with Miso soup. Maki was more than decent. I liked Tornado roll and stairway to heaven. Proud Mary crab roll wasn’t for my taste buds. Same with light my fire roll and you shook me all night. However crazy the names sound, if rolls don’t taste good, it’s not worth it. Size of sushi is on the smaller side. Overall, food was hit and miss for me. For the price, I was expecting a bit more. Ginger and wasabi quantity was really nice. I noticed good waste reduction methods in restaurant. So kudos on that front. Good place for family, friends and date nights. Outdoor seating available. Read so many good reviews so I’ll return one more time to try more of the menu and update the review.
We went there on Sunday night. Place was a little crowded, which is good. Nice music, great atmosphere. BUT it was super cold inside. I didn’t even take my jacket off. So it was a little uncomfortable. Our waitress was really nice and friendly, but probably new. My wife has gluten allergy and we had hard time trying to find out which of the Sushi’s are gluten free. Food was really good though. Presentation amazing. Please fix your HVAC unit, guys 😉 Thanks!
I used not to like sushi , but this place changed my mind. The food is delicious, we ordered 2 types of cooked sushi , a salad , fried rice and grilled edmamme. All of the dishes were great. The waitress was super nice and polite . The service is fast. The only problem I had is that this restaurant doesn't take reservations through the phone , only online , but when we called, the receptionist didn't explain that, and we ended up waiting when we arrived.
Location, atmosphere and parking were all great. There is a dedicated garage and plenty of street parking. Lots of variety on the lunch menu. Sushi wasn’t anything spectacular but decent - negative is the service was S-L-O-W; so slow we asked another waiter to please get the check for us and it was still a 15 minute wait for that.
If you like rock and sushi, you will like this place. Clean and affordable sushi place. Classic rolls go from 4-7 Dlls. Specialty rolls 9-12 dlls.
Typically don’t have an issue with this place. I’ve ordered here numerous times, specifically delivery. Today I made a gruhhub delivery order for dumplings and sushi. Sushi was fine. However the dumplings were burnt on the side and bottom. Made them pretty much hard to eat. Very disappointed.
Sushi was just okay in my opinion. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the “light my fire.” I really enjoyed the light my fire, bit of kick. We also ordered a ahi tower which wasn’t the best. It was a little difficult to eat in the way it was displayed. I felt the rolls were kind of expensive at $16 a piece. Overall, not bad but not necessity somewhere I would come back to.
Certainly a good Sushi 🍣 joint (and bar). Quality of food 🥘 is great. Prices are somewhat reasonable, atmosphere is excellent. Parking 🅿️ is available at the parking meters or their adjacent garage. I just wish some of their dishes had no sugar or not too sweet because they can be. Also, for their soups, it was a big disappointment that the only broth they make is pork, which is not a wise decision. The soup ingredients were great just the pork broth didn’t go down too well. But hey! It’s their culture.
I think this Place is super modern and attentive staff but honestly I would not recommend this in the winter. It is freezing inside the restaurant , I would recommend building a front entrance cover to extend and keep it a lot warmer. I appreciate the environment but not in this cold.
Came here because I kept passing it every day and wanted to try it on a whim. It's a great place to sit-down and eat! Shreya was very helpful for us figuring out the menu. The food was admittedly... Fine. Not fantastic, but not bad either! It is one of the few places to catch a full bowl of Ramen. Might prefer to catch the appetizers next time I'm here. That said, the price is pretty good!
I've eaten in this restaurant before twice and haven't had an issue but yesterday I ordered delivery and choked on a few pieces of plastic while eating my volcano roll. Not sure how these plastic strips got in my roll, but it was pretty off-putting having to pull long pieces of plastic out of my throat. The flavors of the roll were delicious, and the service at the restaurant is great, but I don't know if I can order from here again.
Good sushi but weird nonsense about how happy hour only applies to 6 seats in the building and if they’re occupied unlucky son. Came on my own and ended up a la carte on a table on my own paying full ticket. Apart from the nickel and dime bait and switch happy hour thing, pretty good, nice rock music theme. Would have been 4/5 otherwise.
We asked to change few sushis because it was obviously old or prepared in the morning. I could see how dried nigiri was which obviously was on the counter for at least more than an hour. Waitress got the sushi and brought the sushi we got stating it was “fresh” that been cut 5 minutes ago. Also rice was so soggy and old.
Food was good was made wrong not once but TWICE. We ordered sushi Togo and waited for about 20 minutes only for our order to be missing 3 sushi rolls. We decided to get what we were missing delivered through DoorDash and when we received our food we were STILL missing sushi rolls and on top of that we ordered a chocolate lava cake and instead we received a block of chocolate and some ice cream? Idk what’s wrong with this restaurant or its workers but I definitely do not recommend coming here. Save yourself the trouble and money. There were WAY more employees than customers that day too, so don’t know what happened there.
This review is for an order through DoorDash: Incredibly expensive, at $80 for 4 rolls and 1 salmon roe (that actually came as flying fish roe, not salmon roe!). Incredibly cheap: the wasabi was wasabi FLAVORED paste, a California roll that looked like a Philadelphia roll. And the bag smelled as if a whole group had smoked 2 packs in it. Despite the terrible looks and the minimal quantity for the price, the food was quite good though, hence the 2 stars and not just 1.
Sushi Rock used to be our go-to spot, but last night we saw a mouse running between tables while dining. When we told the staff, they just suggested we move tables or sit at the bar; no real concern or urgency. We canceled the rest of our order and pointed it out again, but were only offered a small discount and a quick apology. The manager did not show up and no one seemed to take it seriously, which was really disappointing for a restaurant. This experience left us with serious concerns about cleanliness and how health issues are handled. Really unfortunate for a place we used to enjoy.
Some shady stuff going on with the bartending staff. Was charged double our tab, when we complained the bartender refused to show us the receipt. Bartender was also visibly drunk.
This is the most disgusting sushi I have ever eaten. I love out of the ordinary rolls with lots of ingredients, so I was so excited to try Sushi Rock. Unfortunately, my rolls were repulsive. I got two rolls, which were fairly expensive, and I am upset about my wasted money and time. I had high expectations, but Sushi Rock showed me truly how disgusting some sushi can be. I got the You Shook Me All Night Long roll and the Light My Fire roll. The spicy mayo tasted like yellow mayonnaise scooped from a jar. The sheer amount of toppings on the rolls over power the actual roll itself (which is below mediocre when the putrid toppings are taken off). I had to take the toppings off just to get some sort of food in my body. I will never be returning and I urge others to pick somewhere else.
Z the Manger of gentleman working 11/26 is very rude and should really work on his customer service skills. He makes you forget about how good the food and space is very sad
Unfortunately, my experience with this restaurant was not very good due to the long delay in preparing the order. I waited much longer than expected, with no clear explanation or apology. The food quality was acceptable, but the service speed definitely needs improvement, especially during busy hours. I hope this will be addressed in the future.
We went there for dinner and had a really disappointing experience. The server served food over our baby, who was sitting in a high chair, and accidentally spilled soy sauce all over our baby’s face and clothes. Our baby started crying, and the server just brought a napkin and never came back to check on us. When I went to pay the bill, I kindly mentioned that she should be more careful next time when there’s a baby at the table, but she just said “okaaaayy” with a very dismissive attitude. Accidents can happen, but in that moment, she could have handled it with more care and professionalism. The lack of concern and apology made the whole situation feel even worse.
They have the absolute WORST customer service and take out experience. We will never order from them again. Orders are not delivered and when we call they say 'we can't see it on our end, we can't do anything about it' and hang up. We order direct from them through their app. Please DO NOT order takeout from this establishment. You'll be left frustrated trying to chase either your food or a refund!
