This restaurant is so delish! The rolls melt in your mouth. The waitress was very good as well. I really liked her! In the springtime you can look out the window and see the little hummingbirds eat. If you’re out that way, you must try New York Hill.

New meeting spot thats halfway between myself and some family. Yum! We had chicken fried steak, veggies, and... PIE! The chocolate meringue was pretty good. Next time I am trying the breakfast, it looked good too. (Yes, I did creep on other people's orders). 😅

I have probably ate at this place 20 times during my travels to West Texas. I’ve had chicken fried steaks, burgers, chili and burgers during those trips. Every meal has been good to very good and service is always good. Also fair prices for good food.

I had been meaning to stop by and eat here for a few years now. When I finally did tonight, I was very pleasantly surprised! The staff and management is super nice, the steak was amazingly tender and cooked perfectly, and the pecan brittle is worth the stop alone. Will definitely stop here more often.

I drive past here frequently and always want to eat there. I finally did, and it was worth it! It is a relaxed atmosphere with delicious home-cooked meals. The restaurant also came with town history. The wait staff were timely, kind, and helpful. The rolls were incredibly satisfying, and the steak fingers and baked potato were tasty. I will be returning.

This was by far the best service and chicken fried steak around. I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant it self is a hidden diamond in the rough. If you're traveling East on 20 exit 367, go through the stop sign and take your second right go all the way up the hill. We were welcomed in and served very quickly they started off with the specials and then gave recommendations. The food came out super fast, hot and did not disappoint at all. Hands down this place deserves more then 5 stars.

If you haven’t eaten at The New York Hill Cafe, you are missing out. The food is amazing, the people are so kind and accommodating. They have an inside out omelette. Hash browns on the outside with whatever you want in the middle. I love having mine with eggs, ham, and cheese. Whenever we are in town, we make our way here for breakfast!

This is a great cafe type restaurant. They have a variety of plates to offer. It is entertaining to learn about Thurber's history with lots of visible antique relics on display. Wait staff are attentive cafe style. Nice stop between Ft Worth and Abilene trips.

I was doing some driving back into Fort Worth when I ran across this place online. I got an order of chicken gizzard, okra, and fries. Man was it good! And on a side note, the lady at the register was sweet as pie!

Generous portion sizes and tasty food. I saw other reviews highly recommended the chicken fried steak, and glad I got it because it did not disappoint. Some places only give you a little gravy, but not New York Hill Restaurant. Smothered with creamy, flavorful gravy. Worth stopping in for. Also got a slice of pie. It was good, but too sweet for my liking.

This is place you have to look at little but worth. Takes back. Good food good people and great time. They also have neat gifts to bring back home.

Everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients, never frozen. Even the steak & ground meat is prepared in house from local sources. Our waitress was amazing & so very helpful during our first visit. I really adored the atmosphere. It's open & clean with live plants everywhere. They bottle their own hot sauce. It's very flavorful with a nice kick. I liked it so much I purchased 2 bottles to go. We will definitely be back

Loved the "past era" atmosphere. From the older gentleman a few tables over talking loudly about how the area was when he was growing up, to the menus that gave you more history of the area than a list of food choices. Ive passed through this area dozens of times in the last couple years but sitting in this restaurant almost feels like coming home. I dont know if momma could of cooked better okra. The steak had a great flavor, I asked for medium and got a medium-well but still a great steak. Definitely gonna have to stop in more often while passing through.

First time here. Went for early Valentine my husband had planned. Every single thing was perfection. The homemade yeast rolls were mind blowing! Then they served homemade jalapeno ranch for my salad. As a cook I appreciate the effort for fresh foods! It was AMAZING 🤩 Our Steaks cooked to perfection! My husband is super picky because he is a master at the grill and he loved his! He said best he had been served at a restaurant in a long time! Side mention our appetizer of Cheese fries were the absolute best I have ever had!!! I also loved the restaurant itself the view and the staff treated us like old friends! I will be back many times in the future. Also nothing they are very fair in pricing😍

I love this place. I have had chicken fried steak, chicken livers, and steak fingers. They were all great, but the best is the livers. That's what I always get now. The baked potatoes and rolls are also good. The salad isn't much to write home about, but the ranch dressing is good. The service is usually very good, even during peak times.

We sort of stumbled on this place by accident, but I am so glad we did. The prices seemed reasonable until we saw the portion - then it seemed like a GREAT deal. The small chicken fried steak was huge and so good. The peaches looked and tasted fresh, and the ranch dressing was homemade. Our server was just as nice as could be and there is tons of local history on the walls to check out while you wait for your food. There was no wait for a table when we were there, but there I a nice patio with rockers and a couple of picnic tables where you can hang out while you wait for your table. The restaurant is an hour from us but we are already planning a return trip!

The grilled chicken salad was amazing! VERY generous, delicious grilled chicken on top, and cut up in bite size pieces. ( I hate to cut up chicken strips on top of a salad). Stopped here late in the evening. It kind of sits out in the middle of no where. Never having been here and the fact it sat in a dimly lit location we were a bit concerned. Fortunately once inside, all concerns were gone. The whole staff was as nice as they could be and ALL the food was extremely good with very reasonable price. The sweet tea was extremely good. I got the chopped beef steak and the wife got catfish everything was great. This will be our regular stopping point when traveling from Dallas to Midland. Highly recommended!

Have been wanting to try this place for several years. Tonight, my son and I came in and shared the 12 ounce steak. The servings were plentiful, the steak was tender, and all the food items had a good seasoning. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the view from our table looking outside was enjoyable. Will definitely return and looking forward to trying some of the other options.

Good lord, WHY did I wait so long to try this place. It will be a regular stop, any time I’m going past it. The prices are great. The rolls are amazing. The staff was ridiculously friendly, even though they were super busy. We had so much food leftover that we had to get a bag. And our waitress was super nice and gave us some rolls for the road. Their homemade dressing is to die for. Especially the blue cheese!!!

I always see this restaurant passing through and decided to give it a try. I saw multiple people say the chicken fried steak was good, so I got that. The chicken fried steak was pretty good, the rolls as well. I think the mashed potatoes are instant, but they were good. The fried okra was alright. The service and atmosphere were amazing. There are a lot of interesting things on the wall. I will definitely try them again.

This place is okay, my steak was medium, I asked for medium rare. Potatoes were awful lumpy. The crown Jewell is their rolls and honey . It's 63 outside and someone turned that on. Server was super nice I bet the other food is good ,I'd still go there just get something else.

Stopped in for Father’s Day lunch and was very impressed with the Southwest-Style Chopped Sirloin. The sautéed bell pepper, onion, and tomatoes were chopped a little small for my liking but tasted fantastic. Mashed potatoes and brown gravy were a home run and the scratch-made onion rings are worth every penny of that $1 up-charge. I recommend dipping in the jalapeño ranch. Dad’s BBQ plate looked a little sad though he insisted it was lovely. I didn’t see a smoker on site so that was a pass for me. Mom raves about the spinach/strawberry salad and the wife’s chicken-fried chicken was pretty solid. Of the three bigguns in that area, NY Hill gets my nod. Better than Smokestack and Mary’s Cafe.

We stopped here for lunch on our road trip and enjoyed the scenery of this beautiful country side restaurant. They had hummingbird feeders so we got to see some hummingbirds. This is a nice setup for a pit stop. I will say I was surprised by all the people that are local and visiting after lunch that it stays busy here so we knew it was going to be a good place. I did get a salad, chicken fried steak with gravy and peaches. It was good. I could tell the steak fries and chicken fried steak were homemade so that's a bonus. We enjoyed our time here.

The steak came out over cooked I asked the waitress to recook it and that wasn't a problem. When she came back to check on us she brought my fries back so I gave them a shot they were cold and warm in different spots on the fries. I figured it was because they dumped them from my plate and brought my fries that were sitting there back and they had naturally cooled down. The waitress told me that the cook said the steak was med rare in the middle but when I cut into the steak it was well done. The new steak had a strong blood taste to it, but I enjoyed it and if I had used steak sauce it would have tasted better. The service was great very attentive I have come here multiple times since I live in the area and the service is always good the food is pretty good a majority of the time as well.

Decent meal for a decent price. The single, homemade crouton on top of the salad was delicious, but since it was an entire slice of baguette, made it difficult to eat as an actual part of the salad. The dinner rolls were very good, as well. The food came out very quickly and piping hot. The fries were pretty good, the gravy standard cream gravy, but the steak fingers tasted heavily of unseasoned flour, and the sliced canned peaches had an off taste. Meal and beverage totalled about $15.
