Gianni’s Pizza has been a favorite of ours forever now. We live far out of town and always make special trips for this spot. The pizza’s are so delicious’ always cooked to perfection, the wings are meaty, and the cannolis are a must.

This restaurant when I was craving pizza in a vacation location that I wasn't familiar with, Trader Joe's recommended Gianni's. I got there early enough because they open at 4:00 and a long line will begin and go all the way down the block. I was the Third customer in and although I did not eat in the restaurant I ordered a pizza to go to take to my campsite. I was greeted with a lovely cashier to take my order. Your customer service was outstanding and made sense of the menu. The pizza was incredible.

What a find. Amazing gluten free pizza, speedy service, even when it was super busy, and a classic pizza parlor vibe, complete with the red checkered tablecloth. A must for those in search of perfect pizza in Monterrey.

Picked up a pizza there - order process was easy, pizza ready on time, huge house salad was very good. The pizza was excellent, we ordered it crispy and double-cut. I'd definitely order pizza here again!

Delicious food, warm staff, and great prices! The pizza sauce is basic, and I ordered extra sauce but felt like there was none honestly. There are tons of toppings and evetyihing is fresh. The breadsticks are well over a foot long and are amazing! Great place to get a bite. Be prepared tho, I ordered online for a 6pm pickup on a Tuesday night and there was a line of about 10 people after I left. They have their own parking lot, which made things very easy.

My husband and I shared a gluten free pizza. He didn’t need gf, but I did. I have been gf for about 10 years. This was THE best pizza I’ve had, in that 10 years! We arrived at around 8pm on a Friday evening, and it was difficult to find an empty table. A bit odd standing in line to order pizza and then another line to order alcohol. Assume this was the most efficient way to move people through a very popular restaurant, so it was fine. Pizza was baked on a ventilated pizza pan, which made the crust crispy without being like cardboard. All I can say to Gianni’s, is come to Houston! I might even give you some start up money, if you locate down the street from me!

Oh my gosh, I have wanted to come here for years but usually choose the places with an ocean view then get a little disappointed. This spot does not have a view but it is one of the most delicious pizzas and garlic bread sticks I've ever had!! Quality ingredients. Someone definitely knows some great recipes. Tried the Sicilian pizza. Also had gelatos afterwards but we ate them so quickly that I forgot to take pictures. This place gets super duper packed and you may have to wait a very long time in between your bread sticks and your pizza or pasta. But it is worth the wait. The gal at the front counter that we got that evening could have been a little friendlier.. But still wouldn't deter us from going every single time we come back to Monterey. It is THAT great. Definitely interested in the Penne and trying their meatballs. Looked fantastic as servers brought that dish to many others as we waited for our pizza.

If you're in the mood for authentic, delicious, and good priced Italian food this is the place! The staff is kind and helpful. The interior is decorated cute and very spacious. Great variety of changing gelato flavors. And I love that they use local vegetables in their pizzas etc. Delicious!

LOVED IT! We stopped in today for lunch (2pm-ish?). It was really busy and took some work to find seating for six, but we made it happen. We ordered six breadsticks, a medium Hawaiian, and an antipasto salad. Really reasonably priced. We munched on the breadsticks with a side of marinara while we waited for our food. They were so good. Hot, lightly crispy and soft on the inside. Marinara is great and obviously fresh and homemade. The pizza was delicious. The cheese was a great tasting and quality mozzarella which is always appreciated. Salad was also loaded with toppings. Cheese and meats were definitely a good quality, too. Overall it was a really great lunch experience. tons of seating but the place was packed when we got there and the lunch rush had finally died down by the time we left. We don’t live in the area, but we will definitely return next time we are in town!

We held a wedding rehearsal dinner here (week of April 8th) and everything turned out fantastic! We made reservations in February for the large private party room in the rear of the restaurant. Andy (the owner), worked with us regarding the number of pizzas and drinks to order relative to the number of people we had coming. We verified the number of pizzas earlier in the afternoon. The back room was set up perfectly. Long tables with chairs (enough to seat our group easily) in addition to a table for the pizzas. Andy and the staff had also put out plenty of plates, napkins, chili flake shakers, parmesan cheese shakers, with plenty of water pitchers and glasses. The room itself was spacious and handled the 50+ guests with ease. Andy suggested we start with eight pizzas and then add to our number as the evening progressed. This made hot and fresh pizzas available throughout the evening. Andy and the waitresses checked on us several times to make sure things were going smoothly. Andy’s pizza estimation was so close we left with about two-thirds of a single pizza. And I have to say, the pizza was just as tasty the following morning. The bar area was well stocked and Zach the bartender was terrific. While I did not partake myself, several guests and family members said that he mixed a wide variety of potent and tasty well drinks. Zach also kept up with the pitchers of beer for our group in addition to drinks for the other restaurant patrons. This place was packed up until 15 minutes before closing time. I saw several distinct groups; couples on a date, families eating together, at least two birthday celebrations, groups of friends enjoying a meal, etc. This was on top of the robust take-out food they were selling. Gianni’s was remarkably busy (on a Wednesday night no less), and Andy, Zach, and the rest of the staff completely delivered (pun intended) for us in addition to taking care of everyone who walked in the door. I cannot recommend Gianni’s Pizza highly enough!

We stumbled on this place when we tried to find someplace off downtown. Simple gold. A unique place that is beautifully maintained, with so much attention to detail. The fact that it's family-owned made it extra special in its heritage, not your average faceless large-corporation owned pizza joint. Oh! And did I tell you about the massive size?? Definitely the biggest pizzeria I've been to. No complaints about the pizza either. I'd be a regular if I lived in its whereabouts.

The problem with letting anyone review is you get the confused sheeple who blame their own shortcomings on the place. 🙃 Some folks don’t get out much. Pro tip: order food & drinks at the counter, the bar is separate — not rocket science. Now, about the actual point of being here: the pizza. Absolutely worthy. Sauce is rich and flavorful, dough is spot on. Worth the trip.

The breadsticks were great! Garlic bread was good too but a little dry. If you’re between the two I’d go breadsticks. Pizza was great, sauce was a bit spicier but very good. Also got the gluten free pizza it was great!

Pizza was delicious! Perfectly cooked. Cook time was awhile, 25+ mins, but well worth it and that’s how you know it’s fresh!! Definitely try one of the breadsticks for $1 too!! You don’t regret it to pass the time waiting.

Place is super busy just about all the time and even more on holidays. It’s a bit confusing at first if it’s your first time here. There’s no instructions of how to order or if they sit you down. So when you get here if you have someone with you, have them get a table while you order. Breadsticks are to die for and they’re super cheap- cents cheap. Simple pepperoni is our favorite. Served fresh and hot. Expect a busy old school environment, it’s like going back in time where families would have family time and kids were loud and excited. There’s also a bar to the far back!

Definitely lives up to its reputation for having the best quality Italian food around. Centrally located and convenient. Highly recommended.

THE place for pizza. Best I ever had. Got the Super Veggie. Looking forward to having the lasagna. Lemon Meringue gelato was perfection. But the biggest surprise was the bartender. He truly loves his job. To watch him make drinks and tend "his" bar is watching a master class in how to love what you do.

I was vacationing with the family and kids are picky. So we all finally agreed on pizza I and stumbled on this place I looked it had over 2k reviews. So we said let's try it. Boy we walked in the place was clean. I and saw the Gelato, and them tossing the pizza dough, oh. Oy and the cheese breadstick my mouth just salivating. And the Italian theme dining room. Wow this place rocks got 2 pizzas a small dope pepperoni and a large Gianni special and some breadstick. We sat down and it wasn't long until the pizza came out. They were cooked to perfection and they were very delicious 😋 ingredients tasted fresh the pizza crust was the best I've had and the sauce wow. Normally I get heart burn after I eat pizza but I didn't get it after eating here. I will definitely come back when I'm in town again. PS COME TO SACRAMENTO AND OPEN UP ONE HERE. Top 5 best Pizzas I have ever had. Prices were good, Pizza was 🔥🔥. Meat balls were on point. Bar was excellent. Must visit if you are in the area. This will be my go to spot from now on.

1 of the best if not The best pizza of my life, and that's including the incredible slices I had in New York. They absolutely know what they are doing. And this place still has the small local pizza joint feel and atmosphere. You could see still little league baseball and football parties here, birthday parties here, or just going to with the rest of the town on a Sunday night. Had to go twice this trip.

The coolest Italian/pizza spot weve spot been to!! We come here every year for our anniversary. Great service, best bartender (he has glasses- we didn’t get his name), and the coolest atmosphere. Highly recommend and worth the short line to wait in.

A super popular location on Lighthouse for good reason. Even with higher prices the tables are always full because the pizzas are delicious and with a line out the door for pickup you know it's a local favorite. If you do come inside be sure to round the corner to the bar seating in back near the restrooms and private party seating to have some beers and hard seltzers on draft or special cocktails and wine. There's more than pizza on the menu and plenty of sharables. I recommend bringing friends and ordering drinks and appetizers as it can take a while for your pizzas to get to the table during the dinner rushes on the weekend.

The pizza is delicious. It came out super hot 🔥 and honestly it's not too expensive here. We also had wings and they were nice and crispy. Wasn't a fan of the bread sticks, but they were only $1 and they are huge!! I've been here a few times before and it's always great!!

Finally found a must visit pizza place in Monterey! Great pizza, great breadsticks and a 1980's feel pizza parlor. The crust was crispy and delicious, the cheese stringy, and the toppings were heavily proportioned. I wish we had one closer to home! Super busy on a Saturday night, but was very well worth it. We will definitely be back.

Right off the bat, the atmosphere invites you in. The great classic Italian music reminds you of simpler times, but it's the food that will bring you back. It's not often you see a gelato display inside a pizza restaurant in America, but there it was. And it was delicious. Let's not forget the pizza! I could tell when walking in to Gianni's we were not going to be disappointed. The smell reminded me of Italy, which we just came back from. The pizza was very good too. I'm sure the rest of the menu will be just as tasty as well. So don't hesitate to give Gianni's a try. We were very happy we did.

We ordered the Andy’s Southwest Chicken Pizza (XL – $40), a salad ($15) and a fountain drink ($5). If your like pizza, this is a must go/ have, me & the wife split a small pizza, custom made with 1/2 pepperoni and the other was Margherita and they were both great , the best way to tell if this place is any good was by the fact they were Kangaroo island, really hopping!

First time at Gianni’s. Went on Valentine’s, at 4;30pm. Didn’t think it would be that busy. It was packed! The line to order was long but moved quickly. Found a table for two as they were leaving and staff came over to help clean up. There were plenty of staff who were great!! The margharita pizza was delicious, flavorful with plenty of cheese, large slices of fresh tomato and basil. Crust was perfect. The only negative was traffic! Literally took us 2 hours to leave Pacific Grove. Not sure if it’s always like that or it was because of the Pebble Beach golf tournament this weekend.

This has to be the best pizza I’ve ever had. I got the chicken alfredo pizza with no bacon and the crust was the real star. For appetizers, I really enjoyed the combo platter that came with 4 wings, 4 mozzarella sticks, and 4 jalapeño poppers. The staff and bartenders were also very friendly. A must visit when you’re in Monterrey.

Hubby and I stayed in Monterey for the weekend and were told to eat at Giannis by some friends. The food was good, but the pizza was AMAZING!! The crust was crispy at the bottom but fluffy and chewy and soft all at the same time. The toppings were delicious and fresh. Its been 3 weeks since we have been there and my mouth is drooling as I write this review and thinking about my combination pizza. We live 3 hours away and we want to take a day trip JUST to go eat pizza. Hahaha. The place isnt anything fancy, but its a cool spot to hang out, have drinks (both alcoholic and non), and eat some good food.

Very welcoming family style sit down Pizza place in the heart of Monterey Bay. Pizza and Caesar salad were quite good, service was friendly and prompt. Not inexpensive but very reasonable for the area. They are popular but they have a lot of capacity so it's a pretty good choice on a weekend night.

Very good pizza 🍕, medium thick crust and no need to leave the edge behind. Double pepperoni, bit salty and some grease, very tasty. Ok service and prices, line to order gets long quickly but folks can get the order placed fairly fast. Takes about 15 minutes for the pizza to arrive, if you get there early.

This is our first time dining at Gianni's. My husband & I have been visiting Monterey for over a decade, we pass by, we see them toss the pizza in the big windows, always see a line. We usually do seafood when coming to Peninsula. We made an excellent choice with Gianni's. Pizza was excellent. Crispy bottom, fresh toppings, sauce perfect (not over seasoned) or too tomato. We would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some great 🍕. I look forward to trying other items on their menu. We like to think ourselves as out of town, regulars. Full bar, & beers on tap 🍻

The pizza was very good, a thick crust and a great flavour when it comes to the base sauce. The only downside was that it was a little toppy in price for a basic pizza. With the side of marinara it was 30$+ worth revisiting for sure!!

I had a great experience.people are nice.Place is super clean. XL HAWAIIAN 2 drinks for 27plus tax it's worthy. fed three grown ups and two kids. It was delicious. On the other side theirs a bar got a pitcher of Sierra Nevada for 15$.one more thing their ice cream is Super Good.

Nice place. You order everything at the counter and then they bring it to the table. The pizza I felt were a bit small for the price. Very tasty though. Lasagna was nice, though my little guy wasn't thrilled with the meat. I thought it was nice. Bread sticks were good. People watching was great, bathrooms were a little off the mark. All things said, I would give them another try next time I'm in town.

Heard about this spot through the grape vine and it didn't disappoint. The pizza was amazing. The breadsticks were delicious as well and the hot sandwich tasted so good! The Gelato was a bonus as well! Definitely would stop here again but get there as soon as it opens because the place gets busy fast.

#4 unofficial Dave Portnoy review. Gianni's Pizza is great, don't get me wrong. I am only here to rate their cheese pizza so I don't want to get to much push back. The sauce has a really good tang. The crust was thick and toasty, the undercarriage was lightly toasted, I would of done another 5 minutes in the oven for my liking. The cheese is just plain mozzarella which makes my score go down a bit. For the price I would expect a couple other strong cheeses in there to give it that extra bite. We were a party of 6 and we got 2 extra large pizzas, which was enough for us! Even took a to go box because we didn't finish. Very italianish vibe. Bathroom wasn't the best but it wasnt the worst. Walking distance from the cannery row parking garage. Pizza was tasty amd slices were huge, i got full with 2 slices. Its very wondy out there, so wear something cozy;even if its sunny. We didn't wait too long for our pizza. Overall it was pretty good

Buzzing pizzeria that is open past 8pm! Pizza was to thick for my liking but the sauce and cheese were good. I was told the Fettuccine Alfredo dish was tasty. The breadsticks and garlic bread.. amazing!

We drove by this place and it smelled so amazing we had to try it out. The pizza had a crispy bottom and crunchy crust, sooo good! The wait took forever specially bc we were starving. People next to us waited over an hour for their food. The restraunt had a full bar and beer on tap and tvs to help with the wait. The pastas looked good, like always I wish I would have tried one.

We ordered a few pizzas and dishes. Cauliflower crust margarita pizza was fantastic, full size meat pizza was really good, ravioli was tasty, clam linguine was ok - they didn't b drain the pasta so it was sitting in a puddle of water. Breadstcks and marinara were delicious.

Group of six of us had lunch here at the bar. I ordered the sausage sandwich and it was delicious. All the other ladies liked their food too. One of the women pizza came out and it was burnt so they remade it but they made us wait a while, so probably wouldn’t come back just because of that but overall, the food was good.

One of our regular stops when in Monterey. Love the pizza as it's not too crunchy but is still thick. Reminds me a lot of true Italian pizza with the chewy crust and solid ingredients. Find the combination of toppings you like and order with confidence. You're going to get a good slice.

Stopped by this pizzeria and was really pleased. The Margherita pizza had a crispy thin crust and super fresh toppings—absolutely delicious. This place definitely gets packed . Pizza was cheesy but the overall just a regular Pizza place . The sampler came with mozzarella sticks, jalapeños poppers and wings, Sampler was nothing special I’d skip it next time.

Pizza is just OK but I’m a pizza snob. Sauce didn’t have much flavor and I personally don’t like onions in the sauce. The crust was to much like eating bread, very heavy and flavorless, think white bread. Breadsticks were very good. Did take out and service was good for that.

Giannis Pizza is always a place we like to eat at when we visit Monterey. We decided to get a pizza on our first day of vacation, Sunday, October 26, 2025. They were very busy. We ordered a small pepperoni. When they brought our pizza, it was burned all around the edge. We decided to keep our disappointment to ourselves. It was delivered hot but not much flavor and of course burned. We decided to give it another try on Thursday, October 30, ordering a small Meat-zilla. To our dismay, the pizza arrived burned on the edge and missing both pepperoni and beef. Giannis Meat-zilla menu description: A magnificent combo loaded with meat: Italian salami, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, Italian sausage, beef, and linguica. This is not the same good pizza we have enjoyed in the past.

Visiting my family. Stopped in was impressed with the awards on the wall. Ordered the Ravioli and it was ok, pizza came with a human hair cooked into it. Over all the food was ok, I am sure you can find better . The best part was the Bread sticks.

We were excited to visit Gianni's after reading about them in the San Francisco Eater. Upon entering, there was some confusion due to two separate counter areas, no host, and no signage. After standing confused at what appeared to be a hostess station, we asked someone at the counter about the process. The process is to order at the counter and seat yourselves. After ordering, we waited about 45 minutes for our pizza and noticed someone who arrived 15 minutes after us that were served well ahead of us (they had the same style and size pizza as us). This was irritating and interesting. When the pizza arrived, it was scolding hot. When attempting to pick up a slice, the cheese ran off. I waited about 15 minutes for the pizza to cool and enjoyed it. It's very tasty with an original flavor. Sauce and cheese were good. Super floppy due to thin crust with heavy ingredients. I did not expect to be eating pizza for 2 hours on what appeared to be a non-busy day, but it was a nice break in a relaxing pizza setting.

Great location near the aquarium with plenty of parking—that’s the highlight. Sadly, the pizza is just… mid. One bite of the crust and you know it’s not great. They pack it with cheese, but somehow it still misses the mark. On top of that, it’s pricey. Worst of all, the staff acts like they’re doing you a favor—zero friendliness. I’d gladly drive farther for better pizza, at a better price point.

So I always pass by this place and it's always poppin. Lots of cars and people outside. So for my birthday I was like I mustttt try it. So we ordered 2 pizzas. One cheese & one pepperoni and 2 orders of wings. It was $100. That was already a red flag but I had high high hopes! We start to eat the pizza, and mind you it's good, I mean it's pizza right? We could've literally gotten Costco pizza and I wouldn't have known the difference. The size is about the same, giant size and slices! (Love that!) but the actual pizza was maybe one step above Costco. Like there really was not much difference. Still great pizza but for the astronomical price I just can't understand. Maybe they're more known for their other Italian dishes?? But I mean it's called specifically Giannis Pizza ya know? The guy taking order on the phone made me feel like such an inconvenience just for calling. We wanted mozzarella sticks and he immediately shut that down saying I could only order them if I was going to eat them there (never heard of that but okay if that's their rule then that's their rule). And I said oh ok can you give me a second (I needed to tell my sister and see if she'd want anything else) and he responded with ugh well I guess. And I had to quickly choose something else. I asked if anything else was "in house only" and he was like um no? Like if it was a dumb question. Overall, was severely let down. I was so excited for this place.

First off the customer service was great. Orders over the phone. Saw this place had a great vibe inside once I went to pickup the pizza. Had high hopes and opened it and looked pretty great. Once I took a bite, I was shocked to find that it didn’t have much flavor. Crust was soft and ok too . :( after reading the reviews I was sure that it would be amazing. Honestly I would rate it a 4/10. Customer service was amazing tho!

Had a sub par experience ordering delivery from this restaurant. My order was incorrect, paid for a medium cheese pizza and received a small. Also, I don’t recommend ordering their wings. They taste like Tyson’s freezer chicken wings, bought from andronicos across the street.

8/23 My recent pizza experience was utterly disappointing. The jalapeño poppers were soggy, and the wings were microwaved, resulting in a soggy texture that was far from satisfactory. The chicken skin was so soggy that I could feel its texture, and the taste of frozen food was evident throughout. If I ever crave pizza again, I might as well go to Little Caesars or Domino’s. The wait time for our pizza was about 55 to an hour. It was ridiculous that we had to wait so long. And to make matters worse, the fountain drink tasted like bleach. When they took us the pizza, they didn’t even bother to take some plates when I went to ask for plates the plates were sweaty and dirty. This was my first time coming to this pizzeria, and I went home sick and my wife was throwing up. Update 8/25: After dinner, my wife, son, and daughter all experienced stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. My daughter also developed a fever. She still has a fever and diarrhea.

We ordered Margherita Pizza and Linguine with clams. I regret to say that this is the worst meal I have had in a restaurant for many years. Both dishes were tasteless and used poor ingredients. The staff were not particularly friendly despite us leaving a 20% tip which I believe is standard in the US. The food showed no resemblance to authentic Italian food and I cannot recommend this restaurant. I also ordered a Diet Coke, which tasted like plain soda! The whole experience was disappointing.

Won't be going back there. They are incredibly unorganized. Waited 15 minutes to pay and take my pick up order. Pizza was cold and tasted like cardboard. Lastly they are so greedy the charge you for ranch cups. Ridiculous. I really don't know how this is a staple of monterey. They were even ignoring other guests.

We ordered Gianni's special pizza and I expected my toppings to be all over but it seems like they didn't care and the garlic and cheese breads was not good at all where's the cheese where's the garlic nothing but a plain bread stick the taste of flavors are definitely missing in the pizza and bread sticks that cost $1 18 each not worth my $40 bucks
