What a lovely, chill, rustic, and truly homey place. The food both felt and tasted like a home-cooked meal, the kind that instantly makes you slow down and settle in. This spot was recommended to me by a family friend while she was upstate NY, and I’m so glad I had it saved and finally made it there. From the cozy vibes and friendly staff to the holiday music playing softly in the background, everything about Iron Cafe felt warm and inviting. I especially loved the rustic decor inside, the wooden tables, the art throughout, and the enclosed outdoor patio, which was heated and perfect for a relaxed winter lunch. We stopped here last weekend on our way to the Catskills with my partner, and a close friend who lives just 12 minutes away met us for lunch. We ended up chatting in the outdoor space for about 2.5 hours and never once felt rushed. If anything, one of the staff members joined in on our conversation, making us feel completely at home and at ease. That kind of hospitality is rare and so appreciated. Just a heads up that Iron Cafe is cash-only, but there is an ATM on-site. I would absolutely come back and highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area. A must-go spot for good food, good company, and cozy vibes.
This cafe has old world charm and the staff very welcoming. I ordered the 4 fried eggs, avocado, and bacon (no additional’s). Definitely a place for Camila and friends.
We had a wonderful breakfast there, was a rainy morning and the staff was amazing, they accommodated our request immediately, the moment we sat down at the table they brought the menu. The manager was always looking out for us...the food was delicious...we ate Britney bowl and omelet...coffee and Orange juice....no regrets just great memories and good place...by the way it's so cozy...not my best photos, I forgot my camera at home..
Love this little Café! The Ciabatta sandwich was great as well as the wrap special. My entire family enjoyed their food and the waitress was extremely attentive which was great. Kindly note that this is a Cash only café but they do have an ATM inside in case it is needed (fyi, the atm charges a $4 fee). Overall, Great spot for breakfast or lunch!
Nice stop on our way home to Maryland. Definitely a gem of a breakfast place. Food and coffee was excellent. Service is top notch. Parking is plenty in the back.
I was in the area visiting and stumbled on this spot. I ordered a breakfast to go along with a large mocha. It's definitely worth the $10. Coffee alone at home is $7 and trust it is no more that 10oz. Next time I'm going to eat in and get the dull experience. The only down size is they only accept cash. Unfortunately most don't carry much, if any cash. I believe they had an ATM in the spot
Loved the outdoor seating.. felt cozy and right at home. It was a little chilly at 9 am so the waitress turned on the outdoor heater.. and it instantly warmed up, making us much more comfortable! They serve Starbucks coffee.. so I was thrilled to order a caramel macchiato.. my kids got the B.E.L.T sandwich with Turkey bacon and loved the cubata bread lightly toasted, tasted yummy and fresh! I ordered the breakfast bowl.. it came with bacon and sausage, peppers and onions, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese AND home fries! Tasted like a true home cooked meal! And lastly we ordered the avocado toast.. sprinkled with everything seasoning.. it was your classic avocado toast which my son likes that way!
I was so happy to find this gem of a coffee shop! I was able to get a delicious iced coffee quickly and enjoyed a quiche and fruit salad in the outside seating area. The baristas and servers were friendly and helpful! It was such a beautiful start to my day! Thank you!
Gorgeous hometown feel. Great coffee and the food was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, ready to please. Would.go back again if i lived in this area 😃
I love, love this place. The food is amazing. They have gluten free food, which is great for me. I have celiac disease. The ambiance is amazing. The man I think is the owner is so nice and welcoming. Thy have all Starbucks drinks, OMG wonderful!!
The employees are very friendly and the food is excellent. Prices are not unreasonable.
The owner and staff are top notch. Always going out of their way to make sure your experience is great. Awesome selection of food and drinks.
The setting is charming and eclectic, food was delicious The service was adequate and the outdoor seating was great and if air conditioning is needed the inside is more than sufficient. Highly recommended!
Our fave local cafe. They are super friendly and their food is outstanding! My favorite thing to order there is hot matcha and a pesto tuna sandwich.
Enjoyed sitting on outside patio for nice lunch with friends
This is the best spot for unique meals in Montgomery. We love all of their food and all of the employees treat every customer so well. If you haven't been here you should definitely check it out. Amazing all around.

I always enjoy the iron Cafe. The food is a very good quality the servers are pleasant, and Brian is always pleasant and welcoming. Their quiche is excellent.
Everyone was pleased with their coffee and breakfast entree. Excellent quality food, healthy dishes, friendly customer service, clean restaurant and bathroom.
Amazing breakfast location in a quaint little town. They are cash only so make sure you bring enough cash to cover it. They have a cute little outdoor dining area out back, and the portion size of the meals are perfect.
Very friendly and relaxing experience. Loved the homey atmosphere and friendly professional staff. Good coffee and food. Will definitely be going back.
This is a very nice place in downtown Montgomery NY. Cash only so leace your debit card at home. Good quiches and coffees. Also delicious smoothies you can choose anyway you like.
Greeted upon arrival...tick. Outstanding customer service...tick. Delicious food...tick. Cosy atmosphere and lighting...tick. You MUST go here if passing by. Im sure every team member is fantastic and it was so nice that Taylor served us with a finese that is hard to find in Nyc.
Katie served us. She's truly an asset to your company! Good friendly service. The wife and I stopped for coffee traveling through Montgomery
Love the rustic simple atmosphere, I only had an iced coffee but I will be returning to try the food .
Awesome experience!!! This place is fueled by lady power and great food…We not only enjoyed a delicious meal at a great price, but also received a gift! Thank you for my book!!! TH

Great food. Great service. Great coffee. Friendly staff. When I pass through area I always make a point to eat here..
An outstanding community venue with intelligent food, friendly service, and comfortable decor. Great for breakfast and lunch. Coffee / espresso drinks are solid. Indoor and outdoor seating. A mecca for locals.
Food was very good, as well great portion size. The coffee as well was great Everything is made fresh so expect to wait a little longer than usual to receive your food
The food was really very good here. Today I ordered the garden wrap and the asparagus in it was delicious. I also had a coffee frappe. Service was efficient and well delivered seating options comfortable. My only complaint was the cash only policy of the cafe. Recommended for sure. Did a catering order this morning. Ready on time and with ease! Looks delicious! Cant wait to sample.
This place was amazing. Friendly service and we had wraps they were nothing short of delicious. The staff was so personable and helpful. Would definitely recommend this amazing place!!
Out of towners. We were returning from Pine Bush to LaGuardia and wanted to eat breakfast. Looked at reviews for breakfast. Very good breakfast! Cozy indoor and outdoorish seating. Staff and owner are friendly and attentive. Loved their breakfast potatoes. Highly recommend you stop!
Can’t start my day with out a coffee from Iron Cafe! Staff is amazing as well
The food here is always delicious and plentiful. The service sometimes is very slow. Remember, they only take cash, and they have an ATM w a $4 fee.
The French toast was amazing, the presentation on the plate was beautiful. The workers are nice and very polite. The atmosphere gives off a rustic vibe, it’s very cozy. We loved !
Best service I have ever received in New York, and that’s coming from someone who has worked as a server for over a decade! Server Alex was amazing and went above and beyond! She frothed my milk, was very pleasant and a true joy. Food was delicious too and the owner even came by to say hello and asked if I needed anything. Loved the family feel and even the regulars were friendly. Go there now! I know I’ll be back!
My Fiancée and I stopped here since we were in need of a cup of coffee. Man was this the most amazing coffee ever. I am so glad that little shops like this can do a much better job than the big box companies. Keep up the good work!
Very cute Cafe. The food was delicious and fresh at a reasonableprice. The staff was friendly and attentive even though the places get busy. They have a lot of breakfast and lunch items on the menu. The coffee was also great!
Great lunch and coffee. The staff was super nice and I look forward to coming back!
Ok, this is my All time favorite spot to get breakfast all day when I lived closer it was a weekend ritual. 4 eggs scrambled with American cheese 4 sides of bacon! My wife always gets the special and loves them so whether you like sticking to the same thing like me or exploring new options in food they have something for everyone! Before you head over remember they are cash only but they also have an ATM inside. Make sure to say hello to the owner super nice guy and tell him “The Bacon Guy” sent you he’ll get a chuckle!
White chocolate blackberry latte was Devine!! Excellent quiche and the fruit was incredible!!!!! Watermelon Feta chicken arugula balsamic salad was awesome!!!
We had a bachelor party of 8 stop by for Saturday morning breakfast at about 8:45am. We were all seated and fed in about 30 minutes (no reservation). The food and coffee was terrific (highly recommend the avocado toast)! Thanks very much to the entire team there... hope to be back soon. 👍
This place is small. So you may not get a table. But it is so worth the wait! It is so good! The food was delicious! I got a create your own omelette and my sister enjoyed the western omelette. They have gluten free toast too which I appreciated. Plus they have both regular and gluten free ‘to-go’ items at the checkout. I got the GF lemon blueberry scone - so yummy! My sis got a jammed packed delicious and healthy protein bar. The staff was very friendly and nice. So many regulars came in while we were eating too. It’s a great place to eat. Only drawback is the size. But if you are patient, the turnaround is pretty quick. We went on a Sunday morning and it was great.
Was looking for a new breakfast spot that make rounds trying. Iron cafe is a gem. Great atmosphere, great food, great coffee. servers great, friendly, knowledgeable, BUT very slooooow service. But will gladly return.
Absolutely stunning outdoor seating. One side is a greenery coverd pergola with wrought iron tables and chairs. Plants and flowers everywhere! Other side is a pergola as well but these table were surrounded by deep cushioned antique style chair. It was just a really cute and comfortable decor. Brunch was great. Decently portioned plates of fresh food, seasoned well. Only downside, for me, was no alcoholic beverages but I guess thats my problem. Will definitely return!
This my wife and I go to place. The service and food are amazing.
Found the iron Cafe accidentally. It's an adorable Cafe with indoor n seating. Food is delicious n staff is like Family!!
Looking to slow down and just ear and talk, this is a spot for you. If your in a rush this is not the vibe for you. Time moves slow there but it's okay since everyone is so nice. Always have the stuffed French toast. All Starbucks drinks which people seem to care about. Cash only!
Awesome egg white veggie omelet, and egg Sammy. Espresso is excellent too. Great service. Cute atmosphere.
This is a great, cozy spot for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I love their menu and the staff are all extremely friendly, kind, and attentive. I love coming here with friends for lunch dates. :)
Showed up unannounced with a larger party (10+). Food was awesome. Price is very affordable for what you get. Service staff was great. This is not 5 star fine dining, this is real people enjoying great food, great staff in a relaxed environment.
This is an excellent Cafe, the staff is always great and so is the food / drinks! Highly recommended!
Love the food there. Fresh and oh so yummy! Service is pretty good. Usually young ladies, don't always notice there's people there needing help.
Just stopped in first time. Breakfast. Broccoli, tomato, cheddar omlet, and coffee. Both were fantastic. Order at counter, then food brought to you. Cozy vibe. And definite local clientele. Will def return, and def recommend.
Such a cute place! The indoor seating is on the smaller side but incredibly cozy. The atmosphere and staff are very welcoming. Prices are reasonable, coffee was good. Highly recommend checking this place out. Heads up- cash only.
Wonderful! The atmosphere is quaint. The food is excellent. Try it! You'll agree.
First time here and I must say it's a really cool spot. The menu is great, something for everyone and the coffee was even better. Oh I almost forgot the the staff they made the entire experience worth a second trip.
Visited here with a group of friends and everyone enjoyed their meals. They have big servings and great staff.
Very busy. Late breakfast with friends.
Quaint little cafe serving Starbucks coffee. We weren't expecting the layout ( order at the counter, sit down, and they deliver your meal) A little pricey for what is it. Super friendly staff. Cute sitting area outside.
Awesome sandwich selection with fresh fruits ..seating area available outside and pet friendly. Delicious food ...portions can be shared.
Pretty small and loud inside so if you're claustrophobic you probably wouldn't have a good time. Lucky for me i like tight spaces and the food is really good. They accept cash only, no atm inside but theres one down the street. They have starbucks coffee.
Very good food. Friendly staff. Julia was our waitress. She's delightful! Ordered from the specials: sausage & quina soup & chicken chibbata sandwich. Delish!
Great place but busy. First day back from vacation and long wait. Good was great
Food was good, service was great, feels nice in there. I had to take a star away and write this review though because the plastic and Styrofoam use here is outrageous. My water and iced tea were both in plastic cups with plastic lids and straws, and the condiments were each in plastic ramekins with lids. To go box is Styrofoam. I'm hopeful that this cafe can care more about our planet and not force unnecessary plastic waste onto customers.
They have the best, "Vanilla Chai" that I've ever tasted.
I love this place and its food more and more ❤❤
Es mi primera vez aquí y debo decir que es un lugar genial. El menú es genial, hay para todos los gustos, y el café estaba aún mejor. Ah, casi se me olvida el personal, hicieron que la experiencia valiera la pena una segunda visita.
Today's coffee (and breakfast) adventure brings us to the Iron Café, in Montgomery. NY. Cute little town, Montgomery is. Where we were was a section where it looks like they made some houses into businesses. The GPS brought us to the wrong spot, which was fine because we found a nice store that sells nice art and other tchotchkes (like my Yiddish?). The cafe was right across the street. The decor is nice. Lots of wood and metal, which fits the name. First thing I didn't like, they only sell Starbucks here. Meh. We go out of our way to these places to stay away from chain coffee, so that was a minus right off the bat. Their kitchen is tiny, so our orders took a bit of a long time. Not that big of a deal for us, but if you're in a rush, I'd probably avoid this place for ordering food. Just coffee or other drinks should be no issue The food was pretty good, but nothing really stood out. I got a breakfast bowl that came with eggs, peppers and onions, bacon, sausage, and home feies. The kids got chocolate chip pancakes and sausage or bacon on the side, and my wife got stuffed French toast, stuffed with Nutella, bananas, and strawberries. Their syrup tasted weird, so that was a minus. Even one of my kids mentioned it, and they love sweets, so I know it was an issue. The staff was really nice. They only take cash, but there's an ATM on site, though there's a $4.00 fee, which is a bit high. My bank returns up to $10 in ATM fees every month, so that wasn't an issue for me. All in all, this place was okay. The Starbucks ruined it for me right away. If you like SB, maybe it'll be great for you. The atmosphere is nice, though it gets noisy when there are more people sitting and talking. The kitchen is right behind a glass wall, so when they were blending things, on top of all the patron noise, it got real loud. Not a place for sure-fire relaxation. It was cute, but I don't think we'll be going back.
Great food , nice little place but the girls behind the counter are rude, and dismissive. They don’t look like they want to be there! They never smile.
Good quality fresh food but very pricy. Breakfast is just ok. Nice staff and cool place. Be prepared to wait a bit if it is busy and bring cash. No CC's accepted.
Bacon egg and cheese was one of the best I've ever had. BUT Only takes cash, and I got double charged an ATM fee - which ruined the experience. Be wary.
Cozy environment but waitress was not very attentive - gave the wrong food and drinks were messed up. Price also seemed like a lot for two meals and drinks. Overall a little disappointing because I remember the place being a lot better when I visited in the past.
Good food and drinks but EXTREMLY slow service nearly 40 minutes for two breakfast wraps is a bit much so make sure you have the time before coming. Also 3 people who came in after us got their food first just doesn't seem to be any order behind the counter.
The place was basically empty, but it took at least 15 minutes before a waitress came to our table to ask for coffee. We were rushed out 40 minutes before they were closing. We felt that we were an inconvenience to the waitstaff. The food was actually very good, however, the service made it a bad experience.
Cute spot been there twice . They take forever to cook that’s the only problem I have . If you have a 1/2 an hour lunch break or an hour call two hours before so your food can be ready. I’ve called in my food 15 mins before my food still wasn’t ready when I got there and it was empty.
Reading the previous reviews it's obvious that these are friends of the owner and/or the staff members. I have been going to this place on and off for about two years, and the service is very slow. The young girls that manage the place have yet to understand/learn how to check tables and turn over tables too. You can wait a very long time for your order and most of the time you'll wind up having to go and track down the waitress. The food is good, and they are all friendly, but if they ironed out these key issues, in my opinion, it would be a stellar little village cafe.
I have always loved this place but today turned me off. When I first got there I waited to order at the counter as several of the staff walked past, never greeting me. Then when I was asked for my order I had to ask for a menu and I felt like I had bothered them. It's never been that way!!!Customer service was terrible overall. The young woman at the register offered the excuse, "We're busy" instead of an apology or solution to me not finding a clean table. I waited over 15 minutes after having to ask for a wiped down table. Brian is a wonderful man and I hope he can reel this in.
The food tasted good, but the dining experience was soured by antiquated and inconvenient accounting practices. Being forced to pay in cash, no itemized bill, specials menu with no prices listed, a server that didn't know the prices of said specials, and an undisclosed gratuity percentage are just some of my complaints. I won't bore you with the rest of them. I'll just sum up by saying that the unnecessarily complicated process of paying the bill could easily be solved if this restaurant would modernize by accepting credit cards and doing split checks.
Today was the fourth time Ive been to Iron Cafe and I keep trying again hoping it’ll be better but I’m pretty sure what I thought were exceptions were the norm. The breakfast food has always been burnt and greasy, the lattes are served in a 20oz paper “big gulp” cup, and the service is brash and not particularly friendly. They also only accept cash, which means they aren’t paying taxes. The decor is great and the menu looks good but the execution is where this shop falls completely flat.
Good atmosphere, but pricey and very slow service. Took over an hour for food to get to table... spent over 2 hours at this place for breakfast. Ordered at 11:15am, left past 1pm. Took forever to receive check after asking for it. Servers seem to ignore tables when busy. Was not checked in with once after the food reached the table.
Arrived at 0950 and ordered. People have came and left and I still don't have my order. Parked rig up on the hill and hoping I don't get a ticket for overstaying. Very dissatisfied. Don't pay until they give you your order. That way if they put the screws to you you can at least escape 😡 order came at 1033 and was wrong. The cashier refunded but it really put a damper on my day. Had to leave because I didn't want an issue with local police about my truck parked on the hill.
Was here on Gen Mont day. Not impressed with quality of so called starbucks coffee. Orderd 2 coffees. My order was written down and we waited for 20 min and only one of the 2 coffees was made. Ok so we are all human i understand that but we had to wait another 10 min for the 2nd coffee to be fullfilled. 30 min total for 2 coffees and it wasnt even that busy. I thanked them and tipped generously even though the order behind me was filled before mine. Once I did get my order it tasted like dish water. So disappointing as a local in this town. I did like the actual set up and decor but sorry to say I won't be back.
Astonishing. Someone orders a breakfast sandwich with no bacon. It takes 45 MINUTES to come out. And it came out with bacon. Are you kidding? People who come in around 10 a.m. may well be starting a work day and you think it's ok to hold them up for practically an entire hour? What would have happened if we asked for the order to be fixed instead of just leaving (after a refund)? Another 45-minute wait? Shut this place down now. It's obviously run by people who don't care one bit what anybody thinks about it. You will fail. Close it now and cut your losses. Or turn your act around. One of the two. Place is improperly highly rated.
Called in 3 sandwiches to go, got to the cafe and then waited over an hour. Just for them ask me to repeat my order to them, they never made them. Walked out, if you can’t handle three sandwiches even on a busy day you shouldn’t be in business or have a staff that can handle a rush. Very poor service every time I go here. Will never get that time back I wasted. Thanks for nothing.
To make a good espresso drink you need quality product and a skillful technician. I found neither. They use Starbucks coffee, so the final product tastes burnt. And, the girl working the machine did not know what she was doing: The milk was over-steamed and there was no foam. Another girl working the register couldn't find a customer's order in a stack of cryptic order slips. Overall experience: disappointing.
Food took an hour and a half. Hair in my bread. No french fries, just some nasty "home fries". Bread so soggy my sandwich fell apart. Got a "our sandwiches do that" from the waitress. Horrible service and worse food.
Omg the coffee shop takes forever. The barista definitely prioritizes the locals as everyone she knew that came in after me got their drinks before me. Can't comment on the food but I do not recommend getting drinks here.
I went in for lunch around 1 PM, and they close at 4 PM. The place wasn’t busy at all, yet we still had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks. We were the only customers there, and after ordering, my cup of chili arrived, but parts of it were cold while others were warm. I asked for it to be reheated, but it never came back out. Our food also took a while to arrive. The staff was rude, and to top it off, I was charged much more than expected. Three drinks and three meals ended up costing $80, which didn’t seem right. When we asked for a receipt, the server gave us an attitude. The girls in there are so disrespectful and rush you out when they don’t close untill 4. We were in there at 1 finished around 2pm. Insane how these girls treat people. We even tipped them & she saw and couldn’t even say a thank you. Won’t be going back.
How does it take 45 minutes to make one sandwich? Then when I asked how much longer they said 10 more minutes 🧐 Arrogant order taker 😒
The Americano had no sign of crema, which for me is a sign of negligence in caring for your daily grind. It was also not a good cup of coffee (I couldn’t drink it). I was polite with the women who served me about it not being to my taste, and I hadn’t consumed it. I’m a coffee shop owner myself, and if a customer had brought back their coffee after not liking it, we would have refunded them on the spot. My staff are trained to do this too. I think the one star is harsh for a bad coffee (I’m obviously particular), but I’m giving one star for a total lack of hospitality. This is why robots will never replace humans in the food industry, because of our attention to taking care of other humans. It was only $5, which is why I wasn’t going to go out of my way to ask for it, but as a cafe owner $5 will simply never be worth a dissatisfied customer, and I wholeheartedly believe any owner should train all their staff to know (and feel) that. If someone is unable to consume your product, the money shouldn’t stay in your pocket.
Bad bad bad. Bagel was not fresh, asked for it to be toasted well done and it came out raw. Ordered a scone toasted, they put it in the microwave, a mushy mess. Only one type of coffee and had to ask for sugar three times because there is no sugar on any of the tables. A coffee shop that hands out sugar packets one at a time.
Got a buffalo chicken wrap and an iced tea and it was just kinda bad. I’m not usually picky when it comes to food but the wrap was dry and the blue cheese gave it a gross taste. The iced tea was also just kinda gross, not watery but also not strong enough? Nice service and a cool atmosphere and place to chill on a hot summer day.
