Great coffee, we Aussies need good coffee. Staff are very friendly. Gumption is right across the road from our hotel, Hotel St James. What a find. Highly recommend this place.

Needed a mid afternoon pick me up and got a large iced chai which was delicious. Coworker got an iced americano which he enjoyed as well. The cafe is a bit small but there are tables/booths available to sit at. The staff were friendly and asked which milk I wanted since I didn’t mention anything. Since it’s close to the office, would probably stop by again to try their coffee.

Wow so flavorful! I bought their coffee beans, roast was fresh and makes a great cup of espresso. Took me back to Australia with that flavorful perfect cup of espresso.

I’ve been on the hunt for the best cappuccino in NYC and today’s is the top contender. And much to my surprise it’s right off Times Square. The small comes with two shots and is just the right ratio of milk (I choose oat) to espresso. I don’t understand these places that give you a gallon of milk (cough Le Pain Quotidian cough). This was made perfectly and brought me immediate joy. Place is small but room for a few tables. The chill music was a nice fit for the vibe. Baristas were great, and having a good time while they worked. Created a nice atmosphere. Service was very quick. They lived up to their motto “Carefully Made. Quickly Served.” Will return every time I’m near TS.

Just a short walk from the busy time square area lies this nice and quiet little coffee shop. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful which was refreshing and the coffee was exceptional. I popped in for a mid day pick me up and was definitely not disappointed... Actually I liked it so much I took a bag of beans to go so I could enjoy some Gumption coffee back home!

Update: I got their brewed coffee which was strong and fruity which I loved. The coffee isn't diluted when I add some milk to it which is great. I got their cheddar scallion scone which was big but not very memorable. I can't pinpoint what was bad about it but neither the good. It might have been too greasy and the texture slight subpar. But I would definitely go back for their coffee and try other pastries too. The cafe latte was good. The store had a nice vibe. The pastries looked good.

Cute little coffee shop with a full menu of caffeinated beverages plus some sweet treats like a mini lemon bundt, blueberry scone etc. Friendly service. My large cold brew with cream and sugar was delicious.

Coffee is dark roasted which is not to my liking. I prefer medium roast. It’s very bitter, it doesn’t taste like coffee at all. The baked goods taste great. And the service is great, they serve with patience and sweet.

A nice coffee shop located right across the street from the Broadway museum. The coffee itself was delicious and the baristas were very friendly. For pastries I had the everything croissant with cream cheese inside which was unique, but good. The classic croissant however was too dry. Overall a great place for coffee with friendly and fast service, but I would go elsewhere for pastries.

Cute atmosphere, but not much seating. The croissant was good and service very friendly and prompt. My capuccino was on a hotter side and not so much foam. $1 add on for non fairy milk is a rip off in my opinion.

Gumption clearly prides itself on deep coffee knowledge and serious experience — and they make sure you know it. Unfortunately, the focus seems to lean more toward coffee than toward people. I had a cortado, which is usually my benchmark for judging bean quality, extraction, and latte art. Sadly, none of the three really stood out. Perfectly drinkable, but far from memorable — especially considering the reputation. But here’s the bigger issue: coffee simply never tastes as good when the people serving it make you feel like you’re not particularly welcome in their shop. Expertise is great; hospitality is better. Too bad, because the potential is clearly there.

After seeing the reviews, I was really excited to try a local place and skip the chains. Ended up extremely disappointed. Ordered a dirty chai and it was hands down the worst one I've ever had - so sweet I had to throw it out after a few sips. Croissant was stale, bland, and too sweet as well. Waste of money as I ended up tossing both of them. Service was excellent! The employees were very nice. The coffee spot was cute too - limited seating but good for to go orders.

I've walked by this coffee shop a few times, and it definitely catches your eye -- vibrant colors, cool art, and a really nice setup even though the space is small. I tried the iced pistachio salted caramel latte from their seasonal menu, but it was way TOOOOOO sweet for me. The pistachio flavor completely overpowered everything, and I couldn't taste the caramel at all. Not really a fan of this one. Meh.

I just walked over a mile and excited to get here. I asked for a 6oz flat white and the guy says “sorry we do not offer that here” I said you have flat white on your menu and he says they only come in 8oz and 12oz I asked again if he could make my flat white 6oz and he says again “sorry we do not offer that here” I left now looking for a real coffee shop and I guess I will not be back here ever again. So sad
