Great spot! Free salsa/merengue classes on Thursdays at 8pm. Always a good time. Sangria/food is good as well. Nice bar area with tv's to watch the games.

It's an awesome cozy place to be with friends and family. They have amazing bartenders. Beautiful young lady with her pretty personality served us. We will be back again.

Love coming to Catas for a drinks and tapas with my husband. Also a nice family dinner with our kids that are obsessed with their bread and butter. My favorite appetizer is the patatas mimosas. The staff is always friendly

An upscale yet friendly local place with great cuisine and friendly service. Amazing interior. On Fridays and Saturdays the place turns into a night club. It also gets very busy during soccer games

The place looks awesome. The food was nice. Really nice!!! The shrimp...the steak..... the coffee. I would love to have a reunion or large party here.

Nice spanish/latin american bar & restaurant with really cute bartenders. The prices are reasonable too. Downside is that I found their is only street parking and it’s full most of the time and the place is kinda small to eat during the rush hour. None the less, highly recommend you checkout this place.

Good atmosphere for pregaming for Red Bull games. Sangria is highly recommended. Can get really full if you arrive an hour before kickoff for big games. Don't expect to quickly get drinks and food if you arrive an hour before kickoff.

One of my favorite places. Ruben and his team are fast and friendly. I just wish he brings back the sweet potato empanadas. They were so delicious.

Fantastic Spanish tapas. Everything that we had was fantastic. Must get the grilled pulpo, and the gambas al ajillo, croquetas de jamon. Great sangria, which is served at happy hour prices in the dining room. We went red.

great food, great vibes. a Staple to the ironbound section. I love to go here before redbulls games and just walk over after a couple of sangrias. awesome food too. the grilled octopus is a must!

Food rocks. Croquetas from heaven and their soups are amazing... even their butter makes my mouth water. Fully stocked bar makes for a great spot to chill.

I normally don't pay much attention to a restaurant's architecture, but Catas was striking. It clearly drew inspiration from Gaudi (Google "Casa Batllo" images). As for food and drink - both excellent! Our group had maybe 5-6 tapas, and all were excellent (octopus was possibly the best I've ever had). If I lived in Ironbound I'd be a regular at Catas.

Order the mac and cheese and a sangria bucket. The grilled octopus tentacle was also excellent. Highly recommend before a Red Bulls game, easy walk to the stadium.

Amazing place, amazing food, drinks and the atmosphere are great!! The bartender/server Damary couldn’t be better, she gave us all attention, she took pictures of us and with us. Even with the bar busy, she was serving, talking, smiling and joking with everyone. we were about to eat and leave but she captivated us and convinced us to stay. We had a really great time and we'll definitely come back.

We stopped here after a TSO concert and it was excellent. Quality is was way up there, fresh, so sometimes the dishes take some time to come out. But that was fine with me because when they did, they were worth the wait. This is the kinda place where you go with the flow and enjoy the experience. We had a great time!

The food is amazing, and the architecture is really good. Service can vary a little bit, but honestly it's pretty good most of the time, they definitely won't rush you. It's an excellent place to meet friends, drink and eat for an hour or two, for a pretty reasonable price.

I had my fiancees 50th birthday party here and it was wonderful! The food was excellent. The staff was organized and Ruben was very easy to communicate with. He always got back to me timely with any questions i had prior to the party and delivered on everything he said. All of our guests raved about the food and sangria and everyone had a great time. We cant wait to come back. Highly recommend this estsblishment!

I went there for Mother's Day (May 13, 2018). The atmosphere, the service and food was a five star. The owner was very friendly and welcoming to us. The only thing is there's no kids menu..but my 8 years old was able to get what she wanted 🤗 I have posted a few picture of our foods order please enjoy 😜

Me and my family eat at Catas at least once a week. The food is excellent, its a fusion of the old world and new world. Very clean, great ambiance turns into a club/lounge at night. Miguel the waiter is the best waiter we have ever had. He is a professional waiter superb service. BOTTOM LINE BEST RESTAURANT IN THE IRONBOUND!

Celebrated my daughters first birthday at Catas. The food is beyond amazing and the service is superb. Family and friends who attended were extremely impressed with the qualitly and quantity of the food. Thank you Ruben and staff for making this event a memorable one.

Best local spot in Newark. Great food, exceptional customer service, and the staff is amazing. I love Catas cause they really treat you like family. Larry and Ruben are both superb and great at what they do. I highly recommend Catas.

Great tapas, delicious brunch selection. We got there on Saturday morning without realizing they only serve brunch on sundays, and they let us order off the brunch menu anyway- great service! Also the Gaudi influenced architecture is gorgeous.

This place is a total gem! It’s beautiful!! Looks like it belongs in Barcelona. And the food is amazing!!!! Seafood, tapas, Spanish food, $5 mango mojito specials, sangria, all the drinks are good and all the staff are genuinely friendly! I’m here every week and every single time it’s great! Thanks, catas! I dined at this establishment for my bday. I made reservations a week in advance. When I went in to inquire about my table they hadn't set it up and the gentlemen in charge could not find my reservation, that I made a week prior, in the book that he looked into. Moving on, the evening was nice and the waitress was quite attentive and as my friends trickled in, we ordered, and the food was served. Their empanadas were delicious and my salmon was tasty. The only thing I was bummed about was that they didn't turn their dining room floor into a dance floor as I had hoped. When I made my reservation I was very clear when I asked were there going to be any events that night or the next that would be preventing them from opening up the dance floor and the lady I made the reservation with assured me that there wouldn't be and the dance floor would be open. Other than that I shared some laughs and enjoyed a great meal.

My wife and I went on Friday March 15th. It was a pleasant surprise. We were in Newark for the Canadians / Devils hockey game on Saturday. We wanted to try a good local restaurant. The food as well as the service were excellent. There was parking available. For sure, we will tell our fellow Montrealers (Québec) to drop by when visiting.

I came for the free dance lessons offered by Steve Santos, njsalsa. Catas had a special on the menu. Oysters Rockefeller it came with bread and homemade butter.it was excellent, the service was fast and friendly

A very nice gathering place for Drinks and Food offerings specializing in well prepared Portuguese Cuisine. Very friendly, courteous and short wait service in both the Main and Bar dining areas.

Pleasant atmosphere and the food was decent, overall - but unless you prefer steak cooked à la hockey-puck, make sure you specify when you order.

Good food and drinks. Huka available. Can chill and watch games at fine dining and bar side. Dancing and more fun on the other side. Tables outside for food and drinks for nicer days.

Food was good, large size even for the tapas. The only issue was service. We went Valentine's day because I was visiting my gf and I couldn't find many high rated restaurants in Newark. I figured this restaurant would have had better service given the size of the place and reviews they had. I wouldn't go back unless the service was better, but the food is good and priced fairly.

Place was understaffed. Food was good tho. Good price for bar food/drinks. Would recommend to staff properly for big events such as the UEFA Champions League final. Music was good.

Came as an RBNY fan prior to the game. People were already heading out so the bar was starting to empty. Barmaid ignored me and served three people who came to the bar after me, but appeared to be regulars. Returned after halftime to get out of the heat and received better service from another server. Not sure why my experience was so vastly different between two barmaids. Will only return if no other option.

Great place for Spanish style dishes. Food is delicious. Went for a private party upstairs. Nice that it was away from all the hub bub. Drinks were spot on. After dinner place turns into after hours dance party. Friendly staff. Gave it only 4 stars because parking is horrendous. They do have a parking lot but very small.

The first time I went the staff was not attentive and my food was okay. To get a drink was way to long of a wait. The second time I went, there was a metal strand from a scrubbing sponge in my mothers food. And when we showed the waitress she didn't care, or appologize.

Worst caipirinha I've had in Ironbound. There food was sub par as well. The second star was given for the interior design and friendly service, otherwise one star. Skip it. There are way too many great places to eat and drink in the Ironbound to be giving your money to this place.

Catas was a horrible experience. The servers were less then attentive. The food was as of my inexperienced 5,year old nephew would of cooked. Over priced like many other places in the area. A restaurant needs to love food as much as their clients do.
