Opiniones de Don Blanc Oakland
Don Blanc is a place where you can enjoy top-notch service, fresh meat, and side dishes. The authentic, un-Americanized Korean food is truly delicious, and the servers are incredibly friendly. In particular, the two managers, John and Chris, never forget to provide what customers need, even though they're busy, and they always have a smile on their face, making for a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. Their delightful sense of humor always makes me happy. If I could, I'd love to visit this place often. If you're craving authentic Korean barbecue, Korean beer, and delicious Korean side dishes, this is a restaurant I highly recommend.
We got the Supreme Set A for three people a bit to much food for 3 but go figure it feeds 4-5 people. But overall food and sides were hella good kimchi sour level was great and meat well seasoned. The staff were very attentive and even cooked all the meat for us. Definitely gonna be coming back
The BBQ melts in your mouth. One of the best Korean meals I've had in the bay, and service that sets the standard for personal care in you enjoying your food and entire meal experience. High recommend. They handled our big group of 10, made it look easy and made us feel like family.
Best service ever, and the food was absolutely amazing. Our favorite was the oxtail barbecue. We frequent KBBQ spots in LA so we were so happy to find a good spot in this area, and we were treated so kindly. Will definitely return when we are back in the area - thank you to Don Blanc staff for the delicious food and wonderful hospitality!
Came here right at 12 for lunch on Tuesday and the service by John was amazing. The restaurant is very lucky to have him running the business. Highly recommended!
It’s always a good time coming here with delicious food and lots of drinks, including beer and soju! The huge beef ribs are tender and delicious, the pork jowl is just the right amount of flavor and chewiness. I would always come back here to eat delicious meat and be served as well by the courteous staff
Cute little place with a small parking lot in front. We were there early and there was no wait. Great quantity and quality of meat with those combos. Delicious side dishes! They will cook the meat for you! My favorites were the pumpkin and the jew meat. 3/2/2024 they just changed to a new owner. But I am thankful that the quality of meat did not drop a bit. Just a change of menu. Food is still very delicious. Loved the beef tartare and kimchi pancake.
Solid Korean BBQ in the East Bay! I visited this spot with my buddy after having the desire to find a good Korean BBQ spot in the East Bay. We got there early, so getting a table was a breeze. This spot specializes in pork, but we also ordered Jumuluk (beef) as well. The Banchan arrived at the table, all looked fresh and very tasty. The Kim chi was awesome. Presentation of the food was good and the meat were all marinated perfectly. Service was solid and helped us navigate the menu with some recommendations and the restaurant itself was well equipped to handle the smoke, so you didn’t leave smelling like a complete BBQ unit. This place is a must try in the East Bay!!!
Really good quality meat and banchan - I like that you order what you want vs AYCE. The service here is always on point and they are super friendly. Get the rice at the end with your leftovers - so worth it 💞
The cuts of meat are exquisite: marbled beef and flavorful lite marinades. Good Bonchon. Service was excellent, but we were one of the few occupied tables on an early Wednesday night.
We came to this place late, around 11 pm and expected a Korean barbecue like any other places in Oakland. But not at all, the menu is different! The service is different and above all the foods are excellent. Recommended! Will be back soon.
Excellent meat and side dishes. Staff were tentative and helpful cooking the meat for us. Went two nights in a roll. Mugi-fuji pork was my favorite. Marinated chicken was awesome as well. Don’t forget to order the slushes. Tasted even better with a splash of soju added.
The best Korean barbecue restaurant in the east bay! The Mujifuji Pork Belly 삼겹살 is so good, goes great with all the side dishes they serve. The quality of meat is high. Their banchan has great variety I love the japchae and potatoes. The kimchi pancake and spicy cold noodles are great options too. I love it served with a beer or some soju. It’s always a feast when we come here and we always leave with leftovers.

I've been craving gopchang since my last trip to LA koreatown, unfortunately it's not something that is commonly found around NorCal. Enter Don Blanc! Ive been waiting for this place to open since pre-covid. Got the large mixed Gopchang plate and it was great. Smaller than expected (feeds more like 2 instead of 3 to 4 as advertised) but great food. We topped it off with another order of the pork bbq set and OMG it was out of this world. Really high quality meats, generous portions, and absolutely delicious. Easily my new favorite K-BBQ in the east bay. Their soup, steamed egg, and banchan were also really solid too. Service was also very professional and the waiters take great care to help you cook the bbq tableside. Cannot wait to come back!
I don't know what happened but the service and quality of this restaurant is significantly increased - better banchan, friendly and helpful staff and food presentation, small stuff like topping of cold noodle become so much better. I definitely will come back here
I recently had an incredible dining experience at DonBlac, and it’s easily one of the best KBBQ spots I’ve visited. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was spot on—modern, welcoming, and perfect for a great meal with friends or family. We decided on the Supreme Set B, and it was an absolute feast. The highlight, without a doubt, was the monster rib. It was truly on another level of delicious—tender, perfectly marbled, and packed with flavor. Every cut of meat was high quality and grilled to perfection. There’s nothing quite like pairing such a savory, rich meal with a cold glass of beer. It’s the ultimate combination and exactly what a great KBBQ experience is supposed to be. If you're looking for top-tier food and a great atmosphere, DonBlac is the place to go!
The absolute premium Korean bbq spot you can find in the Bay Area. I’ve visited plenty of Korean restaurants and I can say with full confidence that this takes the top spot in regard to Korean bbq. The pork that they serve is top notch quality and the service they provide is incredible.

Great quality meat and sides! We got the Beef Set A and an order small intestines and thought it was a good amount for two people. My favorite was the marinated boneless short ribs, but everything else was also good, especially with the sides. Service was incredible and our server even let us try large intestines free of charge (not shown in the picture), which we ended up loving!
This is a good, casual KBBQ experience for a group. Not the tastiest or the best bang for buck, but definitely serves as a good fix. We had a reservation for five and a toddler on a Friday night and were seated pretty quickly. Parking spaces were tight in the lot but fortunately there was a lot of street parking a couple blocks away. We ordered the supreme set A, a seafood pancake, corn cheese and bossom to share. Between us we shared a grill and had our designated cooks at the table (which is how we prefer it but some might prefer a place that cooks for you). The highlight was easily the galbi (as if often is) and we did wish that the bossom was a little less dry. The others were good (as expected) but nothing to write home about. The banchan was also very standard. Service wise, the waiters were a little slow to take our order and to give refills (for water, lettuce, etc.). Though, the yogurt soju special for our friend’s birthday was a really nice touch. Like most KBBQ places, it’s helpful to bring your own bags for your clothes as the hoods aren’t the strongest, and it can get loud, but again - it’s a fairly standard experience.
There was a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant here and it’s now became 2 separate restaurants. This is the BBQ one while the other is a bistro type that offers set plates like noodles and rice cakes. This one is not using charcoal anymore but Ga’s stove on table with a convex iron wok. Instead of bbq it piece by piece by ourselves, the waiter will put whatever meat ordered on the hot plate at once (of course, one kind at a time). The quality of the meats are good. We’ve ordered thin wagyu beef slices, LA ribs with small bones and flavored pork (serve cooked on a separate iron plate). Taste not bad at all, but, personally, I do miss the previous charcoal flavor a lot. The small dishes, mostly Korean pickles, are very tasty. However, not like the previous owner, they will only refill them as asked with a empty plate. One special item has to be credited is the fried rice at the end. Waiter will and some bean spouts along with very dark house sauce on the iron plate and let them stir fried with the juice and sauce left on the plate. Then add rice on top of the sautéed veggies and flatten them after well mix together. Taste really good though.
Mess with bbq intestines? This is the spot to go to for small and big intestines and kbbq! The two times I've been here the intestines were cleaned very well and the servers start the grill up for you and mix it around getting it ready for you to eat right in front of you. I'm a large intestines guy with the crispy outside and a fatty with a little chew innards. Perfect to pair with all of the samm, banchan and dipping sauces they provide for you. The kalbi we order are thick cuts but really tender and high quality. The only complaint I have is when we got the steamed egg you can smell that burntness of it as it was coming from the kitchen. When we complained that the bottom was burnt and affected the taste of the whole dish, our server returned it and came back to us saying the cook stated that that's how they do the steam eggs, as a Korean, no, it's not supposed to come burnt or taste burnt. Our server was nice enough to knock it off our final payment.
Tasty, but not particularly memorable. A Korean bbq with some rare-find options, though only a quarter full during peak time. Aside from the novelty of monster beef rib bbq (우대갈비), the too-thinly sliced brisket and lack of variety in banchan left me eager for something more. A good option if you’re not in the mood for waitlisting at neighboring restaurants.

Tried to come twice for their new lunch service. First time they were closed. Second time, I was ignored by the only waiter as i waited to be seated. He just continued serving the two tables their orders and drinks while i stood there. He knew i walked in cause he saw me go to the wrong door and directed me to the front door which was partially blocked by beverage cases. I just walked out. I knew i shouldnt have come back after the first incident
