Exotic Thai

I had the Tuesday $9 lunch special of sweet and sour chicken and mixed vegetables and enjoyed it very much. My brothers tried the prik khing beef and pad thai with satisfaction. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and sufficient parking in the rear.

Good to excellent food. Good service. A bit pricey but worth it if you like Thai food.

Quality, service, atmosphere... all of these and more can be proudly said about Ojai's wonderful Exotic Thai. Family run (always a good sign), friendly, and working for your maximum enjoyment. Few restaurants measure up to Exotic Thai's naturally high standards. If you want the real deal, and can appreciate all that goes into fine dining, check my favorite Thai restaurant of all time!

I have been to this place a few times and never been disappointed. The food are very flavorful. I recommend this place to those who enjoy good food. The staffs are nice and provide excellent services.

The best Thai food I've ever had. It was close to closing time when I went in so I asked for my waiter's favorite. Thai seafood platter! And make it spicy. Out of this world good!

I go to this restaurant more than any other and it is my benchmark for Thai food when I eat at other Thai places. My favorites are the Spicy Thai Chicken, which isn't all that spicy, and the Pad Thai. I have taken many friends here and they all want to go back.

Best restaurant in Ojai (so far :D). I keep trying restaurants and have been disappointed by every single one. I seriously have not been impressed by a single meal I’ve had out, until here. Thank you, Exotic Thai, for having DELICIOUS food! Both my friend and I exclaimed at how good the foods were on our first bites. We got curry and noodles, and both were incredible. Not just good food, but great food. Quality, flavorful, beautiful, great selection… all you can ask for. Plus they were so kind and have outdoor seating (woohoo!). This is definitely my go-to spot in all of Ojai now, and I would hands-down recommend it to anyone. Coming back to add more: the spinach soup is THE BEST. I am always on the lookout for a place I can get really nourishing soothing food, and this soup is 100% that. Would eat when I’m cold, when I’m sick, or when I just want a warm hug in my belly. I added a side of rice to make it a complete meal for me. Def my new go-to!

This place is awesome! The food is absolutely delicious.The employees are nice and respectful. Also, they strictly adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines by making sure that whoever enters the restaurant has to have a mask on. My husband and I decided to stop for lunch at this restaurant and actually saw a couple walking into the restaurant without a mask. The owners refused service to them and had them walk out in no more then 2 seconds later. People should know better then to try that amid a pandemic that has been going on since March 2020.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Nice people, chill atmosphere and delicious food. Seafood Curry was our favorite and bbq pork fried rice was runner up. What a gem!

A great place! The patio was absolutely phenomenal for a sunny day. Comfortable, open and delightful. We ordered the exotic wings and they were incredible. Every juicy, crispy bite I took was heaven. What a beautiful, authentic spot in a great town.

The old staff is very pleasant to be around. The cooking is amazing, it hits quite close to homemade food. The setting/scenery is also pleasant and quaint. There is however a couple of complaints, sometimes the food changes way too much(different chefs I presume) and the quantity is sometimes cut much too short. I love this restaurant, best in the valley I’d say. Love being a frequent and wish this venue the best of luck.

We have been coming to Exotic Thai for years and the food and service have consistently been excellent! The prices have always been very reasonable as well. If you have a larger appetite, as I do, you will not be disappointed with the portions either. We highly recommend Exotic Thai. M&M

I will say it took me a bit to realize where this is located. It's in a shaded area up the driveway, which makes for a more discreet setting. There is a parking spot with two available spots about halfway down this driveway and more spots further down. The food was excellent, very fresh ingredients, Thai iced coffee tasted great too and server was kind and attentive.

I think I had the best Pad tTai ever here. Their noodles are a little chewy, which I love and plenty of sauce, veggies and flavor. The place is charming inside and the staff are friendly. Since I have only tried one dish, I gave 4 stars, but after I try a few more and they're all delicious. I will change my rating to 5. Definitely coming back again.

The food here is good. My self and my family enjoyed it, although one family member ordered curry and thought the it was just ok. I got the Pad Thai which I recommend. I did notice that the Thai iced tea I ordered had a lot of milk. I suggest ordering your dish mild and getting pepper on the side. This way you can add spice to your liking instead of guessing. There was a huge rush when I arrived which they seemed to handle well.

Quality Thai food. The veggies tasted fresh. Spicy wasn't blisteringly hot. For some reason, the texture and taste of the fish cakes were extremely appealing. A serving of beer and cakes would make for a nice light meal. However, I can't recommend adding the (frozen) scallops.

Service was good and the food was exceptional. We ordered the Prik King with grilled shrimp, and the Vegetable Panang Curry. The shrimp was fresh and tender. The price was reasonable and the atmosphere and overall experience was pleasant. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Exotic Thai!

We had Fresh Garden Spring Rolls, Small Glass Noodles Spicy Eggplants with brown rice. Everything was tasty and the service was good.

Place is cute, nice atmosphere. Food is yummy. Pad see-ew ^-^ only negative is that the service is kinda slow. So don't come starving like I did. :0!

I don't know much about Thai cuisine. But I recently tried this place via a "to go" order. It's expensive compared to many other Ojai restaurants, but not obscenely so. Food is actually very good, but I'm just not a big fan of oriental cuisine, hence 3 stars. One dish I ordered had mint in it. I didn't like that-but that's just me. If you want/like Thai, then I'm certain you'll like this place.

The food is decent but could be much better. We thought the veggies and noodles were undercooked. The Tom Kha soup is good.

The food was excellent —Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the meal. Our server never checked on our table, and when I politely mentioned that my order was incorrect, she responded in a rude and dismissive manner. The waitress never broke a smile and looked like she was there forcefully.The overall energy felt unwelcoming, which took away from what could have been a great dining experience.

Terribly disappointed. I don’t like to negatively review any place especially restaurants but I have to now. Firstly, the name of the restaurant is exotic indeed but the food does not match up to that name particularly for the high priced menu. The only reason I went there was because I had a great experience with the food and service four years ago. Sadly, much can change over four years. I ordered one large Tom Ka Ghai soup bowl made with coconut milk, lemongrass and chicken. When it was served, I was put off by a very strange stale smell, looked like they used canned coconut milk. I understand lemongrass has health benefits, but it seemed they cut up an entire tree and added to the soup. Lemongrass has a strong aftertaste and too much can spoil a dish, I know because I cook Asian cuisine a lot. There was not a whole lot of chicken in the soup and for the price I paid - 14 dollars plus tax, it was a total waste of money. There were only two people serving customers. While the waitress was a very nice lady and was attentive, the woman who is supposed to be the greeter or hostess was quite rude. No hello or hi or a simple smile, nothing. She was yelling at me when she asked me pick a table I liked. Maybe she was having a bad day but you don’t show it on others. Will never go back here.

The worst Thai food I ever eaten. A friend, wife and I had lunch last Saturday 10/19/24, we agree the food was tasteless. We will never come back.

Don’t eat here! The people are rude. We didn’t like the spring rolls with the ground chicken (very dry and no flavor). We told the server that we didn’t want them and that they were dry. He began to argue with us and finally took the spring rolls away. My friend asked for some water, as we both ordered Thai iced teas. He said he’d bring it and never came back outside to our table. No one asked how the food was (my friend’s food was greasy and mine was actually good) or if we wanted or needed anything else. We had to go inside the restaurant to eventually pay and I asked the woman if she removed the spring rolls off the bill and she said no. I asked why and she said “you ate them and if you don’t pay I have to pay.” We paid and left, but after having great customer service experiences during our weekend in Ojai this place didn’t live up to our expectations.
