Opiniones de Fishwife Pacific Grove
I got their cheese flautas. It looked fantastic but sadly the cheese inside wasn't melted and even cold in places. But everyone else in my party said their food was delicious; one of them said their fettuccine was scrumptious! The staff was super friendly and always checking in despite it being packed.
Not to busy before 6 o'clock in the evening. Expected crowded for a delightful dining experience and food.
Late lunch at the Fishwife. Found one of the scarce parking spaces and found the restaurant relatively uncrowded. I had a lunch special. My wife had a Cobb salad upgraded with a fresh chicken breast. Our daughter had scallops with a side of rice. We were very favorably impressed, particularly with the sauces. My lunch special was broiled rockfish over ravioli stuffed with crab. After much thought, I concluded that the kitchen staff had waltzed down to the beach and lured hermit crabs into the large ravioli pastries, thereby trapping them for my gustatory delight.
Though the building is a little dated and needs some tlc, the food is spot on and the service is attentive. We finished off our weekend here with dinner and dessert. The fish was perfectly cooked. The sides were delicious and the bread pudding for dessert was a wonderful finish. It's just a hop skip and a jump from the beach making it very convenient if you spent the day sunbathing and whatnot. Definitely recommend giving it a shot!
A fantastic dining experience! We stayed at the nearby Asilomar Conference Center and easily walked to this restaurant less than half a mile away. It was a birthday dinner so we had cocktails, appetizers, wine, dinner and dessert. Every dish was amazing, from the coconut fried shrimp to the clam chowder to the barramundi to the sole to the creme brulee with a shot of 43. (Do it!) There seemed to be a lot of regulars dining there, and I can see why. The wait staff was extremely friendly and efficient. We will definitely come here again when we are in the area.
We were staying at a local B&B who suggested we try this place for dinner as it was walking distance. Wow!!! This place was amazing!! My husband had the Alfredo Combo, which he loved because the alfredo was not overwhelming and I had the sole with lemon and caper sauce which was incredible! This is a must do if you are in the area.
My best friend and I went to here the day before yesterday. The food came out really quickly and it was fresh, the oysters were very substantial, and the coconut on the shrimp was perfect not over cooked not undercooked not chewy the fish was not rubbery. This was my friends first time there and they made the occasion very special. The proprietor came out of the kitchen to speak with us several times. The staff are doting and not overbearing. Gabriel is the perfect server who engaged in polite but good conversation. I cannot say enough good things about the food. For the entrée I got the codfish on top of lobster ravioli. My friend got calamari steak. The calamari was not rubbery it was soft it was well cooked it tasted fresh the portions were perfect. My lobster actually tasted like lobster instead of just a bunch of cheese. I could go on and on. Great value for the price point.
The food is beyond heaven. The service impeccable. Friendly staff. Many items to choose from. Cozy warm atmosphere. Been coming here for over 30+ yrs. Consistently great. Can't wait to go back.
Went for a late dinner. We had our dog with us and they were very accommodating. For outdoor seating they had a tent with some tables and fire pits. Food was good; our group got the raw oysters ($4 each, large), barramundi, tilapia, Baja bowl, and grilled shrimp bowl (entrees about $25-35 each). Overall great dinner and service!
My friend and I found this place after biking the 17-mile drive. What a gem! The dishes were fresh and delicious, and the service was warm and attentive. We shared the tilapia and crab cakes. The pesto cream paired excellently with the flaky fish and the coleslaw provided a great crunch to the well seasoned crab cakes.
Nice meal, fresh fish and chicken, lovely staff. Mum really liked grilled chicken with garlic lemon aioli and capers. The salmon with Cajun spices was as expected, nothing crazy but reliable! We loved the local Riesling we had tried too!
After we watched a stunning sunset at Sunset Beach, the wind and waves made us freeze cold. We found this place just by walking distance, and ordered a bread bowel clam chowder and Alfredo Combo to comfort the cold stomach, it's very delicious! They are very generous in adding seafood in both dishes. The Alfredo Combo has big scallops and shrimps that are fresh and tender! The clam chowder has a bunch of clams and I love the potatoes and crunchy jicama, also the sour dough bread is a winner! Highly recommended!!!
Best salmon ever. Pumpkin cheese cake was delicious. The staff is joy filled and attentive. Great clam chowder.
What can I say? Three of us went into a food coma after the dinner. Food was so delicious and the service was warm. We sit in the patio where there were fires and blankets to keep us warm in chilly weather. We totally enjoyed the dining experience there. Definitely will come back if visiting Monterey Bay again.
Exceptional lunch today at Fishwife with wife and two kids. I had the barramundi (pictured) and my wife had the tilapia (we wouldn't normally order it but the preparation description on the menu looked great). We were not disappointed. The barramundi ranks very highly with any seafood dish I've had anywhere; it was cooked perfectly and tasted light and fresh with excellent sides that paired well. The clam chowder was very flavorful, though a little thicker than I like it, but that's personal preference. Oh, we also shared a half-dozen oysters which were fresh and presented well. A little spendy but considering thr quality of the seafood and its location, it's reasonably priced.
Came here on a recommendation and it was great. Great service with friendly staff. Tons of selection on the menu with fresh seafood. If you're not a fan of seafood, the veggies and pasta sides are pretty great too. For the fresh quality food, the price is not too bad. Would recommend this place, especially if you're a seafood lover!
Outstanding spot for seafood or just an amazing time. I was lucky enough to meet Edgar and what a guy. Outstanding story of what hard work does. We had a bowl of clam chowder and the sea bass over lobster ravioli. Unbelievable. Finished it up with the best homemade key lime pie ever. I've eaten all over the United States and this place is second to none. Go treat yourself to this gem. There's a reason they've been around 44 years folks. Enjoy.
First restaurant we stopped by on our visit to the area. Went in and was greeted right away and seated. The food was beyond our expectations. Clam chowder was truly amazing, fish and chips/chicken tenders and chips like no other we've had anywhere! Service was on a scale of 1-10 easy 11!!
The food was delicious and just what we wanted. We ordered the tilapia dish (which i libe it was called mazaclan), kids pasta (a lot of food), and another dish that had octopus, clams, ect. We ordered an appetizer of coconut shrimp. They do accept reservations but, we just walked in.
Nice little restaurant in Pacific Grove. Very friendly staff. Food is cooked using freshest ingredients. I recommend the Barramundi, coconut shrimp and Tilapia items on the menu. Tostada and Pesto sauce served with Barramundi was so fresh. Veggies and Rice were perfectly cooked. Ask for the story behind FISHWIFE to your waiter.
Our waiter was amazing. I had the calamari sandwich w/ fries. It had plenty of calamari. The clam chowder was by far delicious...
Sat outside. Good menu! Fush & chips were excellent. Wufe enjoyed her salad. Will go back next trip
Amazing fish restaurant * Definitely worth driving specifically to eat there * The food was fresh and flavorful, amazing place. We had the calamari starters, cooked to perfection and very lightly breaded. You could really taste the squid and not only the breading like in most places. The pasta combo was the real surprise here. You often get a lot of pasta in some fish flavored sauce and a few shrimps. But not here! This is the real deal! Huge scallops, shrimps and pieces of crab with fresh pasta all perfectly cooked and full of flavors. The crème brûlée for desert was in line with everything else and really closed the meal nicely. And if this wasn't enough to convince you, the service is excellent too and the owner really nice. Perfect birthday lunch, will definitely come back for more!
Crispy and juicy, the calamari at this establishment truly hits the spot. Each piece is perfectly fried to a golden brown, with a satisfying crunch that gives way to a succulent and tender interior. The seasoning is spot on, with just the right amount of salt and spices to enhance the natural flavor of the squid. It's no wonder why this dish is a staple on the menu, and a must-try for any calamari lover. The flavors and textures all come together to create an unforgettable experience that will have your taste buds dancing with joy!
I usually never rate restaurants after a meal however today as I sit here at FISHWIFE I am glad to say we had wonderful waiters who were very generous as well as adverting to preferences. The waiters and staff go out of their way to make conversation with kids. The food, the food! The food here is excellent and tastes beautifully caught and crafted, their seafood is outstanding as well as having impeccable “land food”. Their kids menu was, as far as I could tell, was very satisfactory. Would absolutely recommend to anyone from a first date to a family dinner!
Fantastic food and great vibes! Our server Nadia was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We ordered the crab tostaditas, salmon-topped lobster ravioli special, and Cajun salmon, and then the molten chocolate cake and creme brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious and we would absolutely eat here again next time we are in the area.
I've gone there half a dozen times. once when I was 10 once when I was 20 I'm 40 now My mom and dad took us here specifically and told us this place was well known and now I'm making sure it stays well known I love this place The food was top level. Probably going to ask my lady to marry me there, That's how damn good the food is.
My sister had the sole, I had the pasta marinara with grilled chicken and my husband had the fish and chips last night! All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our perfectly cooked meals! The molten lava cake was delicious and my husband loved his old school root beer float! We've loved this place for 20 plus years!!
I was able to get a spur of the moment reservation using their website when we drove past on our way to our vacation rental nearby. The mussels were incredible and for my main I had the halibut and my lady had the spaghetti. All dishes came out excellent. Im glad this place caught my eye!
Stumbled upon this quirky little place by chance. Glad I did! Food was fantastic and service very friendly. Serve lovely local ales. Owner told me that if I didn't think the clam chowder was the best I'd ever tasted, he wouldn't charge me....I couldn't argue with him...I paid. Thanks and hope to visit again some day! July 2022 - Back here again....ordered same dishes and pleased to say everything is just as good as I remembered 😀. Top place!
Went with friends for dinner and cocktails. Large variety of cocktails and tons of entree choices. So many it was hard to decide as everything sounded fantastic! Everyone was pleased with their drinks and meal. The Portofino was a big hit - it was loaded with a variety of seafood. The dessert menu also did not disappoint, there seemed to be something for everyone!
Food was cooked to perfection 😋. Had the Sea Bass over Lobster Ravioli and was not disappointed. Wife had the combo and chips, all golden delicious. The calamari appetizer was also fabulous. The mango tea had a nice light flavor as well. We've always had a good experience here.
We had Portofino and Baja bowl, both very delicious. Server Morris is very attentive. Definitely we will come again next time when we visit.
Fishwife for starters, is tucked away from the ocean along Sunset Drive, offering up a beautiful breath of Pacific fresh air! The seafood is perfectly prepared and mouthwateringly delicious. The menu prices reflect excellent value. With a full bar, child's plates, gluten free and classic fish choices, there are plenty of enjoyable and satisfying options. The light, bright natural seaside ambiance boasts turquoise accents, wide windows and a rustic stone wall, all wrapped up in a relaxing atmosphere. We loved visiting this intimate restaurant and will again, next time we find ourselves coasting blissfully along the 17 Mile Drive near Monterey.
What a fantastic little hidden gem. You wouldn't know it by just driving by, but this spot has some great food. We just happened to see it on Google maps and decided to stop by after a long day of sightseeing. Wow, what a great decision. The food recommended was spot on and I inhaled! My fiance ordered the seafood pasta and she loved it. I wish I remembered the names of our host and server, they were great. I'd definitely come here again when in the area.
An unassuming place with delicious food and fine service. Our fish was perfectly prepared in proper portions. Not huge Cheesecake Factory, not tiny Spagos. The prices were appropriate for finer dining like this - $130 for two people, appetizer, one glass of wine and two desserts. Oh, and the Key Lime and pecan pies were delectable.
I was intrigued about FISHWIFE solely for its name. To be honest I was expecting a bit of open air fishmongering action, but it was just a simple restaurant (they did have a fish tank :) ). At first, I couldn't quite tell if this place was a high end establishment or a casual family seafood eatery. I think it tries to be both and tears itself apart going in both directions. That being said, I was very pleased with the food. The clam chowder was superb. It had a depth of flavor that went beyond the normal creaminess of your average chowder, and was served in a generously sized bowl. The garlic bread it came with was really just regular bread with a light buttering and a lighter toasting, but that's honestly a fresh escape from the usual oil sponge that people call garlic bread. I also ordered the barramundi, which was excellent. The fish was tender and sweet, with a bold and zingy sauce dripped over it. Even the rice and beans took me by surprise with their quality, and the vegetables were not overcooked to the point of mushiness. It was a pleasantly designed dish. My main struggle with recommending FISHWIFE is the price. Many of the dishes were over 30$, which contributed to the air of fancy restaurant, but the food (not in terms of quality) was not quite there. But it is worth a try. They have some unique dishes and have clearly set themselves apart, for which I commend them.
Hidden gem for SURE. Fish Wife is off the main road and I am glad for it because it means that this place is not at all crowded during the week or in the off-season. They have a seasonal beverage, main course, and dessert menu that will always have something yummy. My Favorite is a their classic seafood combo Alfredo! It has crabmeat, scallops big and small, shrimps big and small, and homemade linguine pasta. Their clam chowder is also delicious but be mindful that it's on the thicker side and more like a chowder. It's packed with fresh herbs and tasty but will fill you up as an appetizer! Please stop and visit here - it will be well worth the trip!
My family stopped by this restaurant after our incredible scenic pacific coast and 17 mile drive in California two weeks ago. I was reluctant to do so since we were tight on time but I'm really glad we did. The food was absolutely incredible, and the waiter was utterly amazing, and the atmosphere was good. So with six people, we ordered 4 dishes of appetizers and 6 main course that we shared. For appetizers, we ordered two mussels, coconut shrimp, and calamari. For the main course, we ordered the alfredo combo, al pesto, barramundi, and my kids ordered three more dishes for themselves. I think everyone agreed that my alfredo combo was the best dishes, but everything else was great as well. A stop at this amazing place sealed in our mind an absolutely memorable visit to the pacific coast. I highly recommend this place and I am really looking forward to re-visit again soon.
Really nice spot on the Asilomar Beach side of Pacific Grove. Street parking only, but is plenty of spaces, not a busy area. Went for dinner on a Monday. Reservations on Open Table are recommended. Once you go in, the big fish tank is in front of you. All the staff are courteous and don't forget about you. Ordered the Hawaiian Fisherman's Bowl and the special Cajun Sea bass. All delicious, tasty, and good combination of carbs and vegetables in your plate. Try their wine, beer and cocktails because they have an extensive bar. Good dessert selections. Afterwards, drive to the beach only 2min away and see the amazing sunset. Memorial dinner.
Located at the junction of Asilomar Ave and Sunset Drive in Pacific Grove, Fishwife is a small but mighty seafood restaurant. My wife and I had long wanted to try Fishwife and finally were able to on a recent trip to the Central Coast. The restaurant is fairly small and one can tell that the restaurant was designed into an existing building. At the entrance is a small waiting area with a large aquarium with goldfish and other assorted fish. To the left is restaurant seating and a bar and to the right are additional tables with ample windows from which to enjoy the sunset. The hostess graciously received us and we were seated fairly quickly (<10 minutes) despite not making a reservation. We were seated at a table for two and warmly greeted by our server Tony. We each started off with a glass of District 7 Cabernet and skipped the appetizers as we were not super hungry (though they did sound delicious!). We decided to order from the specials that night. My wife ordered the Local Halibut. It was fresh caught and grilled, topped with a tarragon cream sauce (we both thought we tasted a hint of capers as well) and paired with asparagus and rice. I ordered the Cajun Curvina Seabass, also fresh caught. The fish was grilled with a light dusting of Cajun spices and served over lobster raviolis that were sauteed with asparagus, spinach and butter wine sauce. Both dishes were presented well and served in large bowls. I glanced at a neighboring diner who had ordered a bowl of clam chowder and it was served in the same sized bowl as our meals, so a very hearty portion. We ate while watching the wispy clouds turn orange and pink while the sun was setting. Both meals were fantastic. The atmosphere of the restaurant can be described as quaint. The layout was non-standard due to the nature of the building but it in no way detracted from the experience. The restaurant was full though not overly loud. There was even a family from France visiting! Parking appeared to be street parking only, both on the Fishwife side of Sunset Drive as well as the opposite side. Sunset Drive is a fairly busy street so be careful when crossing on foot. Our server Tony was attentive but not overly so and he was very welcoming. Highly recommended dining!

Great food and selection of drinks. We had shrimp and two desserts which were both amazing. Service was also great. It was busy so might be best to book ahead.
Nice restaurant. Able to get a table on a Friday night without a reservation. Staff friendly. Food very good.
We were fortunate that they found room for us without a reservation on a busy Friday evening. The menu is eclectic and has something for everyone who loves good seafood.
This place is a gem. Table cloth setting but not pretentious. Moderately priced and casual. Service was excellent without being over attended. Great local wines and daily specials. We ordered a cucumber mojito that totally sucked and couldn't get past the first taste. The waiter offered a wine that was exactly what we discribed wanting. We recommend this place but not the mixed drinks.
Disappointed with clam chowder despite reputation and recommendations. Staff was friendly and helpful, might be worth another visit sometime but not dying to try again.
On our recent mini getaway we stopped in for appetizers and cocktails. I had placed this in my bookmarks based on reviews and looked forward to trying out Fishwife and they did not disappoint. The calamari looked like a steak, cut into finger-like pieces that was fried perfectly and sooo tender, it was PERFECT! The Crab Tostaditas were absolutely the best part of our appetizer adventure - fresh, real crab with fresh tomatoes, onion & cilantro on a crunchy, crispy torilla - OMGoodness I nerd to go back just to have another 5 or 10 of these LOL. Clam Chowder was creamy and perfect potato to clam ratio with a dollop of fresh tomato salsa for extra zesty flavor. My hubby had a Dragon Slayer IPA of course and my libation choice - hand muddled fresh Cucumber Mojito this was refreshing and TOO DIE FOR! I even heard the next table over order the same thing and then her mother ordered one too =) Service was impeccable, white table clothes with odd decor and we could definitely come back for a romantic dinner. Why only 4 stars the location is next to a motel that's pretty funky and the odd decor but once inside it's worth it.
One of the last days of Sept. we had a wonderful lunch and appreciated our waiter Edgar, who led us to a new red wine: Paso Robles VDR (very dark red)! Thx, Edgar🌟🌹🌹🙏🏼
Good tasty fresh seafood entries. Street parking only. There is a small area for bicycle parking. They have outdoor tents for dining. The service was fairly quick and the staff were very friendly. Free refills on sodas. We have been coming here on and off for the past 20 years and the food and service have been very consistent. It does get very busy in the evenings and they do have online reservations.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend of someone in our party of four. We had lunch and the service was excellent. We started with a coupon for the Calamari appetizer which was some of the best any of us had had. Each couple had a serving of Clam Chowder which while thick and creamy had very few clams and a different flavor. Each of us then had another dish. I had the special Rock Fish fish and chips which was very good. The other meals were good as well. The bill for two of us was almost $75 with no alcohol.
Long running restaurant in Pacific Groves,Monterey, California. I was curious about the name why? From the history from Google, it dated back since 1830, a wealthy girl from Boston fell in love with a sailer but received no blessing from her family. They eloped and she was pregnant, he worked as a sailer but apparently his ship wrecked in crossing the tip of South America. Under the patronage of local Spanish family she started selling provisions to aller the sailors when their ships were in Monterey that was the capital of the then Mexican California. They called her the Fishwife, thus the name. Reportedly they have followed the original recipe like the clam chowder BUT the tastes and other things have evolved. To me it is just the atmosphere and the service and reputation. I had Clam Chowder and crab cake both were sub par by the current standard to me. Other menu are very interesting but I did not try. Perhaps they may be better. Presentation is excellent as well as the service and atmosphere. They are quite busy nearly all the time.
Foods good. But the pasta portion is way too small. It's almost as if the shrimp was the Main and the pasta was a Side. I explained it to my waiter and he indicated it was based on pasta weight. That he would talk to the cooks and get back to me. He didn't. Not that I was surprised. The flavor was excellent! The Main portions are just way too small.
Came here after the 17 Mile drive and looking for a dog friendly seafood place. The waiter was super friendly and helped us setting up the fire pit in a chilly night. We ordered the Tilapia entrée and the Hawaiian Bowl. Our food came in luke warm so can’t tell if it was not good or just not heated enough. A little disappointed but we were glad to have a place warm and with the dog accommodated. Worth mentioning was the desert we ordered Key Lime Pie was very good and light enough.
Cute, little restaurant very close to Asilomar Beach. Service was great and food was delicious. I ordered the prawns Belize dish. The dish itself was delicious, had great flavor. The only reason I did not give this restaurant 5 stars is because the prawns were not deveined. I simply cut off the part w/the vein. I don't know if this was a fluke or if it's customary to not devein the prawns. Personally, I find this very unappetizing. My husband had the fried seafood platter. I also had the bread pudding which was the best I've ever had
A laid back, restaurant with 10-12 tables in the main area. The staff were very attentive and offered recommendations on the menu. No rushing, but very responsive. Solid bar menu and wide variety of entrees . The clam chowder was excellent and oysters so fresh. The halibut with mushroom sauce was superb and the bowls are a healthy take on seafood with a Caribbean salsa, rice and al dente seasonal vegetables.
Booked for last minute lunch. We had the Shrimp cleopatra and the barramundi. Both were surprisingly good. Fish was flaky and perfectly cooked. Everything felt fresh and well seasoned. Restaurant has a local family run vibe to it, service was friendly. Overall recommend for anyone coming back from a walk along the coastal front in pacific grove

Decided to try this place as we were staying nearby. Our Party got clam chowder, calamari and fish and chips. The fish was cornmeal breaded which we were no a fan of, the menu didn't say this. The calamari was thick like steak fries and also not favored by our group. The clam chowder was decent but non of our food met my grand daughters standards for these 3 items. She's only 11 but has high standards for these 3 items when she visits us in Cali. She said 3 stars.
While the crab tostaditas made for a tasty appetizer, the main courses lacked much flavor. We had clam chowder in a bread bowl, sole piccata, and shrimp in a cream sauce. All 3 dishes were rather bland. The staff was friendly and the service was very good. Just not much flavor.
We stopped in on a recommendation from a local. First we noticed location was ticked away and cute and small. Then we were seated by the window and chatted to the couple next to us about their dessert right before they left (they loved the blueberry cheesecake) They were out of tap beers for some reason so we got an efes and sparkling water. Can’t mess those up. Tostaditas we got for all was delish. Fresh and flavorful. There was 3. For dinner we both agreed our sole and lamb was overly salted and not the best we have had. My first bite of fish had a TON of bones but I think it was the tail and as I atelier there was none. We were full afterwards to opted out of dessert. Service was great- friendly and efficient. We are from out of town and probably don’t feel the need to return.
3.5 / 5 Food is very Bland though great quality fresh seafood and ingredients. This place definitely caters to the older Patrons which make up at least last night 70% of the people who eat here. So I can see why they have S+P on the tables. Pasta is fresh though not made on site its local and so was the Chocolate Lava Cake which was really Good best thing we ate that evening. I recommend calling early for a dinner reservation because this place gets packed with older Patrons & walk ins.
Their food was mediocre. I wouldn't go again and the prices are high. Not really a big fan.

The atmosphere was lovely and our server was super friendly, but the food was incredibly disappointing especially for the price. We ordered the pasta alfredo and one the sea food bowls that they offer. Both were very bland and the breading on the seafood was very mealy and overpowered the taste of the fish. Plus, I ordered the bowl I did becuase it was supposed to include scallops (my favorite) and it came with 1 singular scallop. For my partner and I dinning out is a splurge that we don't get to do often, and weeks later I'm still feeling bad about much we spent on such a mediocre dinner. If money isn't a concern for you and you're looking for a nice atmosphere you'll love it, just don't expect the food to be anything special.
This was a relaxed seafood restaurant. I had ordered the Prawn and Chips for the appetiser and Fisherman’s brunch as an entree. The prawn and chips wasn’t that great as thr coated batter just came off thr shrimp. The fishermen’s brunch was good with the eggs and rice but the fish could have been a bit more tastier.
This was my second visit, my first visit was much better. My plate I ordered was fried shrimp & fries. I didn't care for the grainy breaded shrimp. The clam chowder was okay, a lil too grainy too. My husband like it more than me. The calamari was decent. My husband enjoyed the local Sparkys root beer.
disappointing. we have been eating here twice yearly for 35 + years during our annual trip to the central coast. this will unfortunately be our last. fishwife has been on our very shortlist of favorite restaurants being reasonably priced with superb food. the prices have increased significantly and the quality of food decreased to the point we will not return. we are very disappointed to say the least. $17 for a bagged salad with bottled dressing, $20 for chowder (it is decent but $20?) and $30 for farmed tilapia doesn't cut it. the tilapia cancun, previously elegantly presented, thrown in a heap on a plate of rice and soggy black beans was an eyesore. sadly, we will look for another annual retreat.
I’ve been going here for 20 plus years and the seafood was always the best. My fiancé and I loved the clam chowder, along with many of the other dishes. I was there in 2022 and their fresh baked bread bowl, and clam chowder was the best! Unfortunately now in my opinion, the food is deteriorated greatly. The clam chowder had an odd sour taste. The bread bowls tasted like a typical store-bought sourdough bread bowl, and overpriced. I didn’t finish mine, due to the odd taste, and I won’t be back, greatly disappointed! The water was good though!
My wife and I stopped here after watching the sunset at the beach. It was crowded, and disorganized. It took almost 15min just to get on the waiting list. About 20min later we were seated at a makeshift and drafty table by the door, and directly in the main serving pathway. Our server, though friendly, was inattentive and could not answer our menu questions; (Are there chunks of crab meat in the crab cakes? Are the cocktails pre-mixed?). We opted to try two signature cocktails and the crab-cake starter. Both were beyond disappointing. After all the waiting and fuss, we opted to close out our bill, ($85 for two cocktails and an appetizer), and have dinner elsewhere. I think they try here, but they miss the mark. Frozen food, line-cook cafeteria preparation and taste, over-sweetened, under flavored packaged cocktails. Two stars feels generous, but we didn't get food poisoning, so there's that. There are many better options nearby. It's too bad this place can't live up to its location.
Way overpriced for what we were served Very skimpy piece of Sea Bass with 3 lobster ravioli (I think - was hard to tell how many since the bulk of the dish was a sauce) and two tiny pieces of broccoli which they called "mixed vegetables". The sea bass had a fishy smell - it was one of the daily specials. My husband's halibut was much better but more mashed potatoes than halibut. Each dish was over $40. Never going to order their daily specials again bc we felt ripped off. Next time we'll stay with the regular menu. I would like to edit this to ask why I'm being called a "local guide" - I'm not even local, let alone a guide.
My party had lunch here because of proximity to our lodging and the Yelp reviews seemed acceptable. Two of our dishes were acceptable, but not good: the crab cakes had too little crab and flavo…

Fried greasy food. calamari steak with bad flavor, maybe not properly cooked (?) Server was nice but there are better seafood restaurants in the area.
Sat down to an early dinner and waited 15 minutes…no one came to give me service, water, etc. I walked out! Unacceptable!

Disappointed! 1. Taking orders from a couple who came in after us. 2. You have to ASK for a coffee refill. 3. Took too much time to take our orders, bring coffee, and bring food. My daughter orde…
We were so excited to come back here as we ate here about 3 years ago…it was awful. The hostess was so rude and the alert was water. I asked if that was normal and they said I was being picky. I’m a little shocked to be honest. So sad. 33$ for water noodles.
Overpriced. Was great in the 80’s but then new owners. Never the same. Menu has questionable grammar. Affogato $14 for a small glass or cup of coffee pour-over ice cream even w/a shot. Chicken beast in a bun $20+ ???? And sparkling water $$$
I hope this place can take any perceived criticism constructively and make a positive change. The staff are friendly and the drinks were good. I see the potential for this place to be great, but there were some serious food safety concerns I had while dining there. Hair was found in one dish and another tasted rancid. I also would like to encourage them to try making their own sauces, upon leaving the restaurant I noticed an empty box of Rao's brand sauce outside in their dumpster area. For a place trying to be somewhat upscale I expected the sauce to at least be made in house.
