Wonderful time with visiting family Christmas Eve Eve. The food and service were great. The atmosphere was classy and a bit reminiscent of old San Francisco restaurants. Out only issue was the booth. The 4 of us are not large people at all but we felt crushed together and crowded in our booth, knocking knees across the table even. I like booths but next time it's going to have to be a table.
When we get together as a team, this is our dinner venue of choice!! We absolutely love going to Haps for their food, drinks, but mostly their service. The servers there as so knowledgeable about the menu and have to remember so many things that are off menu. It's marvelous to hear about the specials and seasonal offerings. Haps is a very nice restaurant with an old school steakhouse vibe. Their food is great as well. We were lucky enough to try their caviar service and it was a wonderful addition and highlight to our already stellar meal. We also greatly appreciate their full bar and wine selections. We're looking forward to hosting our next dinner there soon.
Great old school steakhouse! Everything was perfectly cooked. All the side were great. Loved the brussel sprouts. My spinach salad was the only thing that was just ok and would probably get a different salad next time. I had an old fashioned to top things of which was a solid choice. Will definitely go back.
Had a fantastic client dinner at Hap’s Steakhouse in Pleasanton and it did not disappoint. I went with the 10oz filet mignon—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. It came with broccolini and brussels sprouts, and I added the Béarnaise sauce, which was rich, buttery, and the perfect complement to the steak. We started with the fried calamari, which was crispy, well-seasoned, and delicious—definitely a must-try appetizer. The wine selection is excellent, with plenty of great pairings for any cut of steak. The atmosphere was classy yet comfortable, making it a great spot for a client dinner or a special night out. Service was attentive and professional. Highly recommend if you're in Pleasanton and looking for a high-quality steakhouse experience.
I had such a lovely time! It was a great way to seal my birth month! The service was friendly and helpful. I had the old Fashioned and thought it was decent. I opted for the Cabernet Savignon to accompany my dinner. The center cut filet mignon was excellent! The sides are served family style, we chose the roasted potatoes. They were creamy and very tasty. The creme Brulee and Port was a great dessert choice! I will have to come back!
Hap's is really popular and for good reason. We went this past Saturday early evening and there was a line starting to form before 5pm when the restaurant opens. Luckily, we were fourth in line. We went and sat at the bar to drink and eat. The bar and bar lounge filled up very fast. The two bartenders Carlos and Eric were both really good! Besides the wine, the dinner that we had was really delicious. We started with French onion soup followed by Prime rib and a side of mashed potatoes, which was huge! All in all, we had a wonderful time and we'll be back.
This place is fantastic! Steaks are some of the best you will ever have. Appetizers, side dishes, main dishes and desserts are all phenomenal. You can't go wrong. Service is top notch to match the food and atmosphere. It is pricey but very worth it. Great for a night out with someone special or large parties.
Nice restaurant with an old-fashioned vibe. Good service. Was a bit disappointed with my 22 Oz. Bone-in Ribeye, just mediocre.. also it didn't have much seasoning at all. Fingerling potatoes were good + the Halibut was nice as well. Got the Oreo Bread Pudding for dessert, which I definitely enjoyed.
Hap’s has that old-school steakhouse charm with a touch of upscale flair. The steak itself? Solid—well-cooked and flavorful. That said, the horseradish on the side felt unnecessary. It didn’t really add much and felt more like tradition than taste. The salad appetizer was… interesting. Can’t say it wowed me, but it was memorable in a quirky way. Calamari came out in a huge portion with super thick cuts—some people might love that, others might find it a bit much. Personally, it felt more chewy than crispy, but hey, to each their own. Service was friendly, but the pacing was odd. Our waiter insisted on waiting until we finished our appetizer before bringing out the steaks, which meant by the time they came, we were already pretty full. Appreciate the courtesy, but the “one-course-at-a-time” rule felt a bit rigid. Also, they’re really eager to clear plates. Even if you’re mid-conversation or still munching, someone’s swooping in to clean up. I get it—they want to turn the table or tidy up—but sometimes you just wanna chill and finish your food without feeling rushed. Overall, a solid experience, but a few weird quirks that might not be for everyone.
Hap’s Original Steakhouse is a solid choice if you’re looking for an old-school steakhouse vibe. The atmosphere is classic and inviting, perfect for a nostalgic dining experience. While the steaks aren’t extraordinary, they’re definitely satisfying and well-prepared. It’s not the kind of place that will blow you away with innovation, but if you’re in town and craving a hearty, reliable meal, Hap’s delivers. A good spot to enjoy a no-fuss, traditional steakhouse dinner.
We came here with a pretty large group, and we were seated at a long table in the back room. The service was pretty solid, especially given our group size. I felt like some of the service was a little slow, but I think if we had a smaller group it probably wouldn't have been. For food, I got the Cedar Plank Salmon w/ Vegetables for $27, which felt like an OK value given the location. The Salmon was well cooked and full of flavor. I also got a baked potato as a side for $7 and it was a pretty good potato. My wife got a Steak and Scampi combo for $68 and she raved about it as being super good. I tried a bite, but personally didn't like the flavor on the steak, but she loved it. For a side, she got the Brusselsprouts ($10), which were real really good and I would totally get them again. So overall, I wouldn't mind going there again, but I'm not going to seek it out. But that's basically true for me and any steakhouse.
The overall experience was just okay! The Bartender was very unattentive and absent-minded. I order 4 drinks which took a total of 40 minutes to have them prepared, ringed up and paid for... he then charged me $764. Once I informed him, he smirked and said oh the manager will fix it! It took her 10 minutes to come and acknowledge me and the mistake. She two was nonchalant about it and neither of them apologized for his error. The food was mediocre and came out lukewarm. Our server Poppy (5 stars) was attentive and spot on as a waitress! The lamb chops with the mint jelly was a taste that I wasn't prepared for, but exploded in my mouth! #MustHave Needless to say, I don't see myself returning here!
Very over priced. Old decor. Weak service. Horrible prime rib. The Prime rib was super fatty, cooked to the wrong temperature and was difficult to cut. The 'special' starter was $30 and it was a half cut bone with a small amount ig marrow and some potatoe chips. Terrible. The calamari was undercooked and chewy and the breading fell off easy. The decor is dated and the room is super dark where you eat. The service was slow, they did not serve everyone drinks after the first ask. They forgot some apps and they did not even realize. Also they served some salad options in ice water? This included a whole radish...like what? Super expensive $250+ for 2 people. Completely over rated. Spend your money elsewhere.
