Great atmosphere and great servers. They are also very accommodating with specific changes I wanted to my order. I would 100% come back again!
David was our serve Mr and was amazing. He took great care of our party, was conversational but not overbearing, and despite having a busy house made sure to keep checking on our food and service highly recommend this place for small gatherings!
I had the cranberry pecan salad. It was a lot! The raspberry vinegarette dressing was great. Service was excellent. Very cool place.
I had a nice experience at this restaurant. The food was good, and the service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making it a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. I’d definitely consider coming back in the future.
My first time here and I loved the Irish stew. The service and atmosphere were great. It’s a lovely place. Next time I will sit outside.
Great place for a bite and a pint!! Every time I have been there, the service has been fantastic. Laugh out loud is pretty awesome as well.
Dog friendly, amazing, flexible, helpful staff. We were a party of 6, 2 boys 4 & 7. Great kids menu, lemonade in "spill proof " cups. I have celiac disease. Yummy Shepherd's pie!
The bar food is to die for! I am drooling on my cellphone just thinking about it!! I attended a conference about epilepsy and we had salmon, Chicken Marsala and Caesar Salad, in very large portions. The restaurant is huge and the ambience/decorations are unique to each room. Each room has its own bar. I can't wait till next year's conference!
We went on a Sunday afternoon, so they were not too busy. We atr upstairs at the tables and not downstairs at the high tops. Our server and wait staff were very friendly, and there were no problems at all. The food was very good, and my brother even took home a shepard,s pie for his wife's dinner.
I’ve always had an amazing time at Mahoney's. The atmosphere is so fun, the staff is welcoming, and I’ve always felt safe. It’s definitely my go-to bar and joint to be at. Never had a bad experience and can’t wait to go back again!
Mahoney's food and service are consistently good!! Great atmosphere to meet friends.
Classic Irish pub set in a very old building which adds to the charm. Service was great, brews good and the food too. I had the beef stew and French onion soup. Both of which were very good. I'd say my favorite part about this place is the old building atmosphere vibe. It was a quiet night when I went but id bet it's a lot of fun when it's packed for comedy night or some live music!
Excellent lunch spot! Friendly staff, great food. Turkey avocado wrap, chicken caesar and burger we're all excellent.
Excellent! Everything was great. We were visiting from out of town and definitely were pleased with the meal and service. Our server Angie was the greatest. Thank you for the hospitality.
Always good! Every now and then it seems like things could be wiped down more but the service, food and atmosphere make up for it
Really cozy Irish pub right across from the Poughkeepsie Metro North station. All wooden interior, very spacious and a huge menu. Servers were friendly and helpful, they made accommodations for my vegan diet. The portions are enormous, great value for the prices. My friend really enjoyed her strawberry salad and I highly recommend the veggie burger. Fries are so crunchy and delicious. Will visit again the next time I head upstate for a hike.
I have been several times and the service is always excellent, food is almost always very good.
Great food during the daytime crazy times and nighttime if you wanna eat, you’re just dancing night away this is a place to be great food. Crazy times.
Our dinner or late lunch as i guess it was, was great, especially considering the large size of our party of 14. Cranberry Pecan Salad with chicken was very good and a generous portion. The look of everyone's meals all looked very good as well. Fries were cooked well, service was very good. All in all a great experience. There were no complaints.
Was here on 3/28/22 for dinner. While at dinner my boyfriend and I were informed that there was a complimentary shuttle from the restaurant to the Bert Kreischer show at the Civic Center! We both ordered steaks and they were cooked PERFECTLY. It took a while to get our drink order and the bar was out of Pomegranate Martinis but our server, J.D. was very helpful and accommodating. J.D. suggested another drink option and was very knowledgeable when we asked him about the local area! Mahoney’s was clean and the staff here are friendly. It was busy, but J.D. made sure to check in with us to make sure our food and drinks came out well and was an excellent server! Thanks J.D. & the rest of the Mahoney’s staff for an excellent dining experience, we will be back!
A PK staple. Loved the place since I moved here 15 years ago. Bartenders are too notch.
Pretty cool pub, but not the best for Guinness. Small pints, a bit of line funk. Guinness rating 2.5/5
Food is amazing! Vibes are great! Staff are all amazing! Sometimes a bit too crowded for me and limited seating. But 100% worth it. Get the steak! 10/10
I have never had even close to a bad experience at mahoneys! I am a very frequent nightlife customer and I see all the "hate" going around about one singular experience and so I just have to share my positive experience. I have had some random man come up and scream in my face and start to push me and those bouncers swept in to protect me and my friends. They are vigilant, kind and extremely respectful people. If you have had a bad experience with a bouncer there you must have been breaking the rules because they are just really good at their jobs and keeping mahoneys safe! Please think before you speak especially when it's about people's livelihoods.
A great atmosphere together with friends or family. Pretty thorough menu for an Irish pub. But, they have the best Shepherd's Pie I've ever had in my life. 11/10 and same for the onion rings. Great service and friendly staff. And it's right next door to the Metro-North station if you're taking the train
Went here for Foodstock and it was phenomenal. The bands were great, the bar tenders were on point, and the atmosphere was excellent. We only had some fries and drinks, but they were good and I'm looking forward to going back and trying some more food.
Our full College Lacrosse team had our dinner catered here and it was incredible. Food was off the charts. The space is epic. The guys serving us were awesome.
First timer but fell in love with ambiance, food, everything. Polite, attentive staff. Cold drinks and hot good. Live music created an at home experience.
Stopped in on on our way home and definitely an excellent choice. From service, to wait time, to food coming out and entertainment. We happened to stop in on a night with live music and riverdance. Food was delicious and well priced. We loved it so much the following weekend we took our family for dinner. I look forward to many more nights here.
Good vibes good food, BBQ burger was so good! Bartender super polite and made good suggestions, on Tuesday night there was a jazz band that was fireeee definitely will frequent whenever i’m in the area
This Irish style pub at the train station in Poughkeepsie is a nice resort for lunch, 2 levels make it easy for people to talk and if they want shirts they go to the litter level. Staff were gracious, pieces quite reasonable. A new favorite for us!
We had our wedding welcome drinks event at Mahoney's, and it was fantastic. Pat was super helpful and made everything easy. The space was perfect for what we were looking for, and the event was a blast!
We just had my baby shower here this past weekend, and I am so happy we had it at Mahoneys! Scheduling it, choosing the food and drink packages were so easy. The staff there and the manager Pat did such a wonderful job and was so helpful. We were able to set up and make the room ours for the day! It really made the whole day so much more special. And the food was incredible and the atmosphere overall was so great. We spoke about hosting other parties there in the future! I’d recommend Mahoneys to anyone looking to host a party!
They make their veggie burger in house, and it was excellent. We also had the Jack Daniel’s BBQ burger, very good. Fries were also great! Excellent service
We had an event after party there. Manager, Pat, was easy to work with and provided everything we asked for. Good food choices, which were all tasty, plenty of room, and bar service was great! The whole event was well worth the price.
Had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and Pat was absolutely phenomenal. The food, music, everything was great and Pat went above and beyond for all of our needs. Would highly recommend private events here.
This place is the gem of Poughkeepsie! We came for a concert at the Bardavon Opera House, and really lucked into finding this place, referred by the locals. If you’re in Poughkeepsie and want to have a blast, definitely come here! The staff is incredible, the music is Bomb, and the energy is high vibe!
Excellent food. Our server was just absolutely fantastic. I feel bad about nit remembering his name, but this kid was just on point. He memorized all 8 of our orders (food and drink)... only 2 people got the same food. The bill wasn't expensive either. It was affordable with really good elevated Irish American food. Check it out! We will be back!
Came up to Poughkeepsie for a day trip and this place hit the spot. The fish and chips was massive and delicious. The fish had the right crunch and flavor profile. The fries that come with it were great. I don't really eat fish and chips regularly but this knocked it out of the ball park. I was nice and full and took a long walk across the bridge. I will definitely visit again in my travels. Service was great. The young lady was attentive and nice. P.S. recommend order the soup of the day. The beef and barley soup was nice and warm for that chilly day.
Fantastic Irish establishment. Food is consistent every time. Check out their monthly calendar of events too....

We went during karaoke night. So the noise was a bit loud during their test and set up. But the food was so good. We were there with a friend from England and she said how the food reminded her of her hometown. So that in itself was a huge plus. The prices were not outrageous and the portions were huge. Would recommend it.
My friend and I went here for a comedy night. Food was good, service was good but at the end of the show, one of the waitress bumped into me and I thought it was a mistake and then again she bumped into me twice and then began to curse at me for not moving. And when I went to go talk to the manager she says go ahead he’s my husband. I will never go back to this raciest place.
Love this place! A fan since the day they opened. Great service and good times. Curry fries are my go to. The curry sauce is amazing. I'd buy it, if they bottled and sold it. *Dining and bar furniture need to be upgraded. Starting to make a great place look rundown.
We took our daughter out to dinner after her college acceptance day. Quick to be seated, however it could definitely use a good deep cleaning. Drinks were terrible, got an old fashioned and it had sugar crystals in the bottom, and a very soggy orange slice. It was so strong I had to mix it with soda. Husband got a basic tito and redbull which was fine. Food came fast and it was really good. Potato soup was more like creamed potato's but tasted good. We'd go back again but not in our top 5 for the area. Overall, decent.
I went for karaoke and it was really cool. It was super crowded, and what I loved about it was that everyone who was singing and hanging out were just in their own little bubbles doing their own thing. It was a fun time, and I'd be back again. Although I didn't perform myself, it was great to watch other people perform and just have fun. Another thing I loved was that it gave me an underground speakeasy vibe 😍.
The place was nice. The hostess was friendly. Our server KJ was very good. My steak was cooked very well, but it was very under seasoned. My wife also found some sketchy lettuce in her salad. They replaced her salad.
Location was in this cool old brick building right down the street from a waterfront park. Lots of parking, Food was decent, but the food I ordered didn't mention it was fried on the menu but it was and I don't eat fried food. Great server who was super attentive, but they had him waiting tables on half the restaurant and bartending at the same time. I came in during my lunch so it made me late getting back to work. Other then those special circumstances I would go back.
Service was really good, friendly and fast. The burger was OK. Nothing I'd come back for to be honest, a good standard burger that could've been a bit juicier. Probably press them down on the griddle squeezing out the juices like many places do. Anyhow, for a quick bite and or drink before or after a train ride this place is decent.
Visited here Feb 9/26, we had a table of 10 people and service and Food was good Service was great awesome
I came here on a random night for me and my friends, but it just so happen to be college night. As they transformed the space from a restaurant to a club, who is really interesting to see since I have not been in college in a few years. I had a great atmosphere, but there were a lot of bouncers, I guess you need a lot of security in a club. The food was pretty good, vegetables tasted fresh.
Mahoney's has a real Irish pub atmosphere. Four of us all enjoyed our meals. For people who can't usually finish what they order, the menu has several selections that offer half meals. Our waiter was attentive and sociable. It's across from the Poughkeepsie Metro North station and there's plenty of free parking. I would definitely go again.
The place is good. We got soups first. My husband had potato cheddar soup which was delicious. I got chili, it’s was great as well. I ordered shepherd’s pie and my husband got fish and chips. For some reason I had a different expectation of the dish I ordered. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It wasn’t bad, no. It was good, but just again I had a different expectation. I guess it was a little too watery for me. Fish and chips was good. I switched with my husband at some point and he enjoyed shepherd’s pie. The staff was great!
Love Mahoneys and everything. Very convenient for me since I live so close. BUT Saturday nights they really need to step up their music game…. Just when you think the next song is gonna be a one you can dance to, it’s something even worse than the last. They need a different DJ… period. Sorry but you’re just playing songs off your spotify playlist. I guess everyone’s too drunk to notice but nobody’s vibing. Maybe an unpopular opinion but it’s true.
If you take the train to Poughkeepsie, maybe to do the beautiful walk over the hudson, make sure you stop at Mahoney's. A bit of a dive bar with a bunch of characters but definitely a nice vibe. The tap beer was cold, the wings were good and the service was great. Big shout out to Trenton who is a quality bar tender.
Food was good, had the shepherds pie , which was good but could have been mixed better , one 1/2 was meat & watery , other 1/2 was meat with a lot of peas, had a good taste though. The chili is also goo. Nice to sit outside & see the trains pull into the station. Also has indoor seating upstairs & downstairs.

Good and friendly service. Unpretentious. Had the beet salad and shepherd’s pie. Both were very good. We were there for lunch. Not too crowded.
$8 pints of beer. Lots of food choices on the menu. Not a far walk from the elevator at the walking bridge. Jeremy was our server and did a real fine job.
Attended a post funeral luncheon which was held in the far back bottom floor private room. It was very nice they have us the room on short notice and the buffet wasn't bad, but the drinks were weak(cash bar) , really cheap tequila. My biggest issue really is the dirty bathrooms. Especially the tiny one that was inside the private room. The bigger one out of the room, near the big bar was also disgusting. I know it's a young person's hangout but they really need to upgrade and keep the bathrooms cleaner.
I ordered the potato soup and it was amazing. My husband and I wanted to try the corned beef and cabbage so we ordered it. When we got it there was a rancid smell coming from the meat. The server was nice and took it back and off the bill.
We were here for the comedy show, which was fantastic, however everything else was mediocre. Service staff was friendly but slow, drinks were, well alcohol and the food was edible. The waffle fries I must say were delicious. We'll be back again for the comedy club and give the food/drinks another chance.
It's a cool spot if you need somewhere to eat late... just be aware that they have the temerity to charge $12 for a WELL (I.E. cheapest) whiskey and coke). The food is good, but if I were to come back, I'm not drinking more than one drink. Actually, no... I won't be going back. Ain't no way I'm paying airport prices for a WELL whiskey and coke. Don't get grifted. But for the sake of the employees, the food is good.
The events held here are completely failed . During the Halloween party on November 1st it was badly ran , they paid zero attention to how may people were let in the top floor and bottom were so bad and packed with people it became a hazard to walk around the security did nothing to keep track of how many people were there and they were completely rude the whole time .

Security at this place is a joke. These men hit, kick, spill their drinks and disguise it as dancing. My friend was hit in the head and one guy started kicking us. When I went to security I was told there was nothing he could do. When I left I asked another security guy if they just let that happen and he said no when I told him they should work on communicating that he flipped me off behind my back. If you’re going for the nightlife don’t waste your time the dance floor is disgusting, the crowd is terrible and the music is sucks.
I used to go here to dance all the time before Covid. Now they play Taylor Swift and there are a lot of college kids, less diverse crowd. On my first revisit in years, they kicked my girlfriend out for using the wrong bathroom when she had a UTI. Extremely disappointing to see the lack of grace and respect patrons receive while plemty of visibly underage people come at night.

We found out why they only have 3 stars. The spicy margaritas were only water and tequila with a few jalapeño pieces thrown in (worst drink she has ever had and did not drink). The shock top had no orange garnish which I get it is picky but whatever. No water, silverware, or napkins served. The bar type food was ok. But right across from the trains so that kept us entertained. Would not return.
You left the door unlocked and a person went in to use the restroom then the bouncer charged in and pushed them out of the bathroom. Then as they were heading towards the door the bouncer pushed them to the floor and choked them while another employee berated them. What kind of restaurant is this and in what world is this ok?
Bouncers will grab you from behind, lift you up, and hurt you if you are even in the vicinity of people not behaving appropriately. They did not identify themselves as a bouncer, just hit my drink out of my hand and hurt me. Very unpleasant experience
I came here last month with a friend for a comedy show, service was terrible, food was eh. My friend and I ordered Mac and cheese that never came out. Regardless, wasn’t my best experience. Only reason I’m writing a review now is to let anyone know in the LBGTQ community that this is a horrible place to go. My best friend who is trans went there with a buddy of his and went to use the bathroom where the guard aggressively busted in telling him to get out, shoved my friend: my friend left and tried to run away from the guard when he TACKLED MY FRIEND, resting his arm on his windpipe while the owner sat there laughing asking him to leave. I refuse to give any of my business to a bar/ restaurant who’s ignorant and treats people this way. And I plan on spreading the word to every single person I know. DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR MONEY OR ATTENTION.
You left the door unlocked after business hours and a person went in to use the restroom...then the bouncer charged in and pushed them out of the bathroom. As they were heading towards the door the bouncer tackled them to the floor and choked them out while another employee berated them. What kind of restaurant is this and in what world is this ok? Definitely not a safe public environment, sad and disgusting.
Your establishment has some real disgusting ego grifting, roided up bouncers that assault patrons.. Not the first or last time I have heard something bad happen like this that will be swept under the rug ultimately. A big fat shame. Don’t waste your money at this place that covers up things like this and keeps its employees that assault its patrons. Spend your actual time and money in White Plains/NYC..

Ive gone multiple times and every single time the food has been awful and the drinks are very obviously watered down. Not even exaggerating when I say I had the worst steak meal ever there. Order medium rare and got medium well and it was clearly a very awful peace of meat cuz it was mostly hard fat. The mixed vegetables were undercooked and the mashed potatoes were super dry. Also anything seafood tasted like it was taken out of the freezer then forgotten about.
Didn't even get in the door. Place says they close at 4am I just wanted to go for a couple drinks. Knocked on the door and the security ignored me. Sitting at the front door so if you're closed why are you watching the door? Don't know who it was but this kind of business is not catering to the people. I know it's a small and simple experience but those count the most. Not even gonna try again. You don't wanna make money? I'm a great customer everywhere I go so you guys definitely lost out for sure. Good job
Terrible place. Got a overcooked steak with an overpriced bill. Beer tasted like I was bitting on metal. After waiting a long time and asking my inattentive waiter multiple times to turn one of the 20 TVs. With a few minutes left to go into the game the same waiter who claimed he didn't know how to work the TV remote would turn the game off. Getting the salads almost right as getting the entree. The manager should do a little more then just sitting around playing pocket pool with himself. Will never walk back into this dump of an establishment and better off going to Longhorns for a cheaper meal!
The bouncers and police officers beat up 3 of my friends when we were just trying to leave, they are going to try and take legal action as well. I’ve heard countless times people getting hurt here for no reason at all, Don’t go here ever worst establishment ever don’t spend money here you will just get beat up for no reason
Vibes of the bar & bartenders itself is fun but the bouncer ruins it almost everytime. Ego trip- specifically the brunette guy that works most weekends nights and the other bouncer that stand there, watch and claim “they don’t see” how nasty of a person he is (bald guy). Multiple occasions that I have gone and not only seen people I know but others groups of people who are calm/just trying to follow his directions to pay cover & present ID and he starts getting angry by yelling or getting into peoples faces. Any slight tone or look that he perceives as an attack on himself he immediately starts getting in your face and/or trying to kick you out even if you just walked in and paid. Quite ridiculous. Will go to any other bar in PK or NYC and never have a single problem, but always see or hear of problems with this specific man. HIRE NEW BOUNCERS!
Had a very bad experience at Mahoney’s. The ID checker at the door was incredibly rude and the owner/manager at the time stood by and allowed it. Shameful. Double insult. And inside, the bar staff was not welcoming or friendly. As though ordering a drink was asking for a favor.
I love, love, love this place—or at least I used to. Mahony’s was one of my go-to spots. I’m here almost daily, I bring family and friends, and I spend money without hesitation because I believed in the experience… until it completely fell apart. Over several recent visits, the service has been flat-out unacceptable. The staff was passing out a special dish to the entire establishment—moving table to table, offering it randomly. Not once, not twice, but three times, the same server (the Black guy with braids) walked directly past us like we didn’t exist. No eye contact. No acknowledgment. Nothing. I don’t know if it was personal, bias, or just pure carelessness—but it felt targeted, and it was embarrassing. When you’re a regular who consistently supports a business, being treated as invisible is infuriating. It makes you question whether loyalty means anything at all here. And let’s be clear: the bartenders are a major part of the problem. The bar service has gone downhill to the point where it’s dragging the entire place with it. Attitude, lack of awareness, zero hospitality—it’s all there. They need to be replaced, because if nothing changes behind that bar, this place will continue to suffer and only get worse. Period. No guest should ever be made to feel ignored—especially not someone who’s been here as often as I have. Between today and multiple visits over the past week, it’s been a complete bust. Yes, the atmosphere used to be great, but atmosphere doesn’t excuse consistently shitty service. At this point, I wouldn’t make the trip unless you’re looking for a cheap drink paired with frustration. There are better options nearby. Shadows on the Hudson isn’t far, Derby delivers a stronger overall experience, and Shatzys may be pricier and smaller—but at least you leave feeling respected, welcomed, and genuinely taken care of. This place had something special. Right now, it’s wasting it. Fix the bar staff—or watch it continue to decline.
Last Thursday I met cousins I haven't seen for over 20 years for lunch. It was a beautiful but the front porch was quite empty. After our delicious lunch, no one disturbed our reunion by demanding we order more or fussing around our table. Staff saw we were enjoying our visit and let us stay. Thank you to Mahoney and your sweet servers. We chatted away until after 3.
