Opiniones de Brasserie 292 Poughkeepsie
Shouts out to Jojo my husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for years. We have always enjoyed it but tonight was the most extravagant night that we’ve ever had. Thanks to Jojo!!! The energy the patience the atmosphere perfection give that girl a raise because she has truly out done herself. Thank you Jojo for helping us to enjoy our anniversary. And we will be back!! See you then Jojo!!!
Finally. We lived in NYC for 45 and 52 years respectively. We moved to Newburgh in 2017, and it wasn’t long before we realized that the thing we might miss most about The City was the restaurants: the food quality, the ambiance, the mixed drinks, the service, …. and the energy. There was The Bear Inn in Bearsville/Woodstock but that closed. There is Cucina in Woodstock but it lacks the energy. It’s a bit too … discreet? For decades Raouls, Lucky Strike and Balthazar’s were our favorite NYC bistro haunts. This place looks and feels like Balthazar’s. It didn’t start out too well. They tried to seat us in a corner table way in the back, next to the swinging kitchen door. Yes, I know that I’ve seen Andy Warhol at his corner table in the back next to the kitchen at Max’s Kansas City back in the day, but I hate corners and with the kitchen noise, well I wasn’t having it, especially since at that moment there were three better locations…away from the noise of the kitchen! So we waited a few minutes for the hostess to confer with the manager and they gave us a table…in the middle of the room. 😊 After that, things went very smoothly. The aesthetic is nearly identical to Balthazar’s, to the point of copying it, the service was spot on, there was tremendous variety in the menu and food preparation and presentation, the appetizer, entree, and desert were excellent, the drink was sophisticated and not too sweet, and the place was packed and noisy,….it was energetic, the way we like it. It was October 12, the day before our 28th wedding anniversary. Oddly, we couldn’t find a French restaurant within a 45 minute drive of Newburgh that was open on Sunday! Go figure. As an anecdotal aside, my wife was the only person of color in the entire place. A friend suggested that might have had something to do with our original seating assignment. The brothers and sisters need to get on over here! Another anecdotal aside: the post card that they attach the bill to shows a photo of the bar tap. What’s with that? This is a restaurant, guys! And last but not least, what’s with the photos on the bathroom doors of French people choking themselves to death in clouds of cigarette smoke? It’s like how it was once fashionable that the only way to portray Nuyoricans was in ghettos doing drugs. Please! That said …. I think we have finally found our new wedding anniversary go-to place.
This place is amazing awesome staff great food I will go here again and again just a great place
Excellent food, tasty, subtle, varied. The fish was also perfectly deboned!
Just had dinner with my wife and two friends. We shared several appetizers and for dinner lamb shank, shell steaks, and shrimp w pasta, and we could not be happier. Delicious perfection! Service was outstanding and ambiance was fantastic. What a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended! Can't wait to dine there again.
Owner was friendly and interactive with guests. Staff was awesome - friendly and attentive. Order was accurate. Staff made great recommendations. We ordered a ton of items, including drinks, appetizers (3), entrees (3), desserts (3). Plus we had sparkling water. Our bill was just under $200, which is what I had planned it to be. We left stuffed and happy! We are huge Crew fans, but needed a change and this place lived up to our expectations all-around. We will be returning and likely become regulars. Atmosphere was quaint, beautiful ceilings and small amount of diners. Covid friendly. We forgot a mask and they had them, so we didn’t have to go back to the car. Bathrooms also very clean! Diverse menu with lots to choose from. Owner was also kind enough to surprise comp a dessert for a birthday in our party without hesitation.
Had dinner at Brasserie tonight for the first time and while the food was indeed amazing, our server (Cat) was the real star of the show. She was caring, knowledgeable, friendly, and very sweet. We had such a good time chatting with her and we'll be back again thanks to her warmth (and, again, the food and the space itself was excellent). Thanks Cat!
What a great place. It was very busy for a Tues night but we had great service and amazing food. The onion soup, scallops and beef wellingtons were perfectly executed and so tasty as was the crème brûlée. Definitely worth a visit.
First visit was perfect in every way. Grayson was professional, courteous, and impressive in managing my solo dining experience while staying on top of a large party alongside me. Superb food, charming atmosphere, and generally a nice way to kick off the holiday season. Editing my review to elaborate on the first and mostly describe my 2nd visit -- much different, less perfect, and in many ways even better. It had been a challenging week so I decided that a second indulgence at Brasserie was in order for the weekend. My mistake: I used Open Table instead of calling the restaurant. Apparently the reservation was deleted online. No idea how that happened. Understanding that it was a Saturday and they have limited space, I was turned away. So it goes. I was maybe 10 paces out the door when (I assume) the owner called after me and offered a seat at the bar. Leery that it might be crowded/noisy, I took him up on it anyway. So glad I did. Wonderful experience all around. The young woman (didn't catch her name!) and Erich took great care of me at the bar, and service from the kitchen was impeccable and well-timed. This time it was oysters followed by lamb shank then the bourbon spice cake, first time it was an almond-crusted baked cheese special then the butcher's steak. All superb. I doubt that there is a bad item on the menu. Also, good people-watching. Ample range of ages and personalities. (And, seated at the bar, of course there's no option but to be more social. Did me a world of good. Great conversation.) I lived in Manhattan for a long time and am a butcher's daughter. I am not a snob, but I do know good food. So many restaurants cut corners/take shortcuts these days, even those with good reputations among the fancy folk. Gradually I have built up some local favorites in Cold Spring, Garrison, Fishkill. Brasserie 292 has just surpassed them all. This is the best dining experience I have had in the Hudson Valley. Second mistake: I didn't bring cash and didn't realize that I couldn't tip on my gift card. Yikes! I owe the bar a tip! I'll be back!
This was an amazing place! I booked online reservations for a special occasion and when we got there, they told me that they made sure we had a booth to celebrate! That was amazing! Now the food. The lobster bisque was fantastic. Not your traditional bisque which made it better. We had the Berkshire schnitzel and the aged ny strip. Both were amazing. And to top it off the dessert we had was a Pomfrete and they actually had a candle there for us and congratulated us. Will gladly go back here and definitely recommend this place.
Never disappoints! You walk into the restaurant and immediately are greeted by smells of delicious food cooking that reminds you of home during the holidays. The staff are polite and professional. The food and drink are AMAZING! The prices are fair and the ambiance is authentically Parisienne. We love this place so much, we’re willing to drive 1.5 hours to enjoy for special occasions. If you’re local and go to brassiere 292, you’re smart and lucky. If you’re local and don’t go, you’re missing out! Highly recommend and will be returning.
An absolute treat. Brilliant, friendly and competent staff. The food is perfectly balanced between US dining-style - you know: quite large portions - and the more delicate French Cuisine. This combination works.
I have been here six times and everything is top notch. Never had a bad experience. Food is wonderfully tasty and also sophisticated, cocktails are all great, desserts are all very good, servers are friendly and informative. As a vegetarian, I can always eat well, and I can tell my meat-eating friends eat well too. Worth the price. Good for groups too.
Have never had so much difficulty deciding what to have for dinner as everything on the menu was so appealing! The braised lamb shank was fall off the bone and delicious! The duck confit was superb! The pate’ was off the charts.. we were tempted to order one to go! 😁 Mouro, our waiter was THE BEST! Attentive, efficient, professional, jovial and most enjoyable to talk to! Everything a professional server should be! We will definitely recommend and return!
This restaurant continues to be the absolute best in the area. I’ve been here many times and the service is absolutely impeccable. Shoutout to Muoro and George, they are both highly educated on the menu and are the whole reason I decided to book my 15 person party here. There is no restaurant in the area that compares at all. The food is absolutely amazing every single time. The duck was recommended by George it was the best meal I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. This used to be a fancy restaurant for me just for special events, however after encountering Muoro and George, I will be back here for many date nights and all fancy dinner nights. Overall, you can’t beat this place, 10/10 every single time.
My wife and I stopped in last week for our anniversary and had a great time. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and everything he recommended was Amazing. Food was off the chart, we will be back!
This place just blew is away! All four of us loved everything. This is a special restaurant.
This was a wonderful surprise, my husband and I went in for dinner during our trip and it exceeded all expectations. The service was great, the server was very knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. The dinner was amazing, the mussel in coconut sauce appetizer was delicious, unlike anything I’ve ever had. The main dish and dessert were also exquisite. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
Great service, very accommodating. Wonderful food and drinks and really good service!
Amazing experience! Food was awesome. We had the escargot, oysters, duck breast, steak au poivre, schnitzel, and profiteroles. Wine list has many great options. All well priced. Ambiance is purely French Bistro. Parking available on street. Our server Isabella was fantastic. She provided world-class hospitality. We will be back to explore more of the menu.
I’ve been here twice now, once for my boyfriend’s graduation from the CIA last summer and again for his birthday last week. The food was incredible and everything was fresh and made to order. My boyfriend fell in love with their oysters and I could not get over how amazing their desserts were. A little pricey, but worth every penny!
Made a dinner reservation for this past Saturday and both the food and service was phenomenal. It was not overly packed, but I would still recommend a reservation incase it is busier when you go. The lighting and decor made for such the right ambiance. It wasn't too loud either; I was able to hold conversations with ease. The staff is friendly and attentive and the overall service was quite fast. We ordered the fried oysters to start and they were well balanced. The remoulade gave it a tangy finish. The list of specials sounded really interesting, but I ended up getting the pan-seared scallops. These were cooked perfectly and they tasted so sweet. The risotto had a bit of bite to it and was not over-powering at all. My partner ordered the ny strip au poivre and it was cooked as he asked. If you are on the fence about sides: we ordered the smoked peewee potatoes and caramelized brussel sprouts and both were a great sharing size and helped round out our meal. For dessert, we shared a vanilla bean creme brulee and enjoyed every bite of it. Excited to try a special the next time we go. Would recommend for a date night.
We celebrated our son's birthday here with a party of 9. We had exceptional wait staff, very kind, very understanding of three young kids. Our food was brought out in a timely manner. Our drinks were kept up on, along with milk for the kids! And the food was all phenomenal, along with the desserts. Our guests had a great time, everyone was very happy with the service, the food, and the ambiance. Thank you all so much!!
Great atmosphere. Flavors derived from spices and not salty! Delicious...
What a gem in poughkeepsie! I never would have expected this place! The food is absolutely amazing and so was the service! I've never been to a place where they take your food when you go to the restroom so they can keep it warm! The ambiance is fantastic. The food selection is exquisite. A little shocked that they didn't have non-alcoholic beer but that would not deter me from going again. This will be a new spot for me. If you're looking for a place to go solo or a romantic date, this is the place for you.
Had a fantastic experience on an early Friday dinner. Our server was fantastic! Mouro had the perfect balance of making us laugh and giving us time to enjoy the dinner, and being super attentive to our dining experience! The food is stellar - super tasty, perfect portions, and great price. I strongly recommend trying this place!
We came in late on a Friday night with a last-minute reservation. The dinner crowd was starting to thin out and the staff was playing catch-up. After a few minutes we were seated in a cozy booth and greeted by our kind and knowledgeable server. We had a couple of cocktails and a light dinner and everything was delicious. The ambiance was perfect. We felt like we stumbled into the perfect little brasserie for our cozy evening out. I can't wait to go back.
What an amazing restaurant , atmosphere , food & service!! We couldn't have asked for better. Truly the best restaurant we've had a meal up here in 25 years !!! The specials were spectacular!! The non alcoholic specials were out of this world & our friends just loved there drinks . The whole vibe was Contagious you couldn't help but have a great time !! I wish I could remember our servers name but we all thought he was amazing. Thank You ForbA Great Meal & a Great night out with friends!! Sincerely, Diana
Went for Valentine's Day; our 4th time here or so. One of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was delicious. Great cocktails. Great service. It's not often a restaurant exceeds my expectations. Thanks!
Our dinner at Brasserie 292 was a "10." Our appetizers were delicious: we had the grilled octopus and the foie gras parfait. We both had the "smoked pork chop and spaetzle" special, and that, too, was delicious. This special should really be on the daily menu! The flourless chocolate cake for dessert was delicious as well. The service here was also a "10." Our server - Deirdre R - was very professional and friendly, and she expertly guided us through the menu and wine choices. We were especially impressed by the attention to detail. The bread was crispy and fresh, and it was accompanied by herbed butter. The chocolate dessert was presented with orange peel and fresh whipped cream topped with shredded chocolate. The coffee was served in warm cups to keep the liquid warm. We don't live nearby, but we would definitely travel just to eat here again!
Went here for a birthday dinner. We waited just a bit because nearly every table was full (for good reason)! We sat at the bar and had delicious cocktails before sitting down to an amazing dinner. The waitress was very busy, but was still able to check on us and take care of all of our requests, thank you Kat! The food was excellent. We had gnocchi and a lamb shank. For a special night out, we deeply appreciated Brasserie serving us and would love to come again.
What’s not to love about classic French bistro fare made with amazing care and attention? What an unexpected treasure in downtown Poughkeepsie, and our server Jessica's attention and thoughtfulness made it even more memorable .
We had a great dining experience here. Everything we ordered was delicious. I thought the food was better than some French places in Manhattan. Service was good even though they were overwhelmed. Tables were spaced at least 6 feet apart and I feel safe dining there. Definitely recommend people in the area to tried them out.
Amazing restaurant, the service is phenomenal and the food is even better. We had dinner here on a Friday night and it was perfect. The maitre di was very courteous and helpful, the bartender was fantastic, the bourbon selection was awesome, there’s E.H. Taylor, Pappy, Stagg, Widow Jane, Hill Rock, etc. lots of amazing options. The waiters are very attentive and helpful and food is really phenomenal. We had the charcuterie board (which had really amazing cheeses), the escargot and some oysters. All were really amazing and fresh. The steak au poivre and the chicken breast were phenomenal, both were extremely good, the sauces were perfect. The Brussels sprouts were also very tasty. This place is really a gem in this town. From the waist staff to the food everything was perfect. I just wished I lived close enough to visit this establishment more often.
Very enjoyable atmosphere. The food was seasonal and well prepared. It's a nice meal.
I had a wonderful meal at Brasserie 292. My server, Nick, was attentive but left me to enjoy my meal as needed. I ordered the bisque, the escargot, and the delicious crème brûlée. Bonus: One of the waiters bears a striking resemblance to Derek Waters, host of Comedy Central’s Drunk History.
Delicious food, excellent service, lovely ambiance. Favorite spot in Poughkeepsie
Great food great restaurant I would definitely recommend to dine here Service was also very attentive and great
The food and ambiance combined with a friendly and welcoming staff, knowledgeable of food and wine, make Brasserie 292 an unforgettable Hudson Valley dining spot. My most recent visit was made most memorable with a whole, fresh herb stuffed Bronzino, cooked perfectly and so delicious, I’ll go back soon for more. The sardines were meaty and delicate, with the salt perfectly balanced. Let chef Fells or his staff, pair your food with wine; they know how, and your experience will be elevated. Don’t forget dessert. Even though I’ve never been a dessert fan, eat some dark chocolate or the creme brûlée with an after dinner Amaro. You’ll go home happy and looking forward to next time.
After tonight’s dinner at Brasserie 292, they have moved up to my favorite restaurant in the Hudson Valley. Food was superb, especially the filet special and steak au poivre. Top quality meat which is hard to find these days. Drink and spirit menu offers lovely options. And the desserts.. just heaven. The beignets were so light and warm and the Crème Brûlée perfect but the peanut butter mouse with Oreo crust… sublime! Service was amazing and professional. Just all around perfect Saturday night experience which made me feel like I was in NYC.
The food is very delicious. We enjoyed the foie gras, ribeye steak, duck confit and steak au poivre. For this quality, the price is really a good deal. I mean, just imagine how much it costs you for a 20oz ribeye in NYC, and the $48 here is really really a good price. Plus It's delicious too!
Always a great meal at Brasserie- if the Fireside Chat cocktail is in rotation- get it, you will not regret it! The Peppercorn Steak is my favorite. The bartenders are always pleasant. Gorgeous spot and well worth it. The staff is really well versed on the wine list, also.
while visiting the area we had a dinner here (9 people) it was a great experience service was awesome and food was even better! you will not regret going here!
First off. Phenomenal. Came with my wife in the middle of winter and sat at the bar. I was a bit worried having fresh oysters and seafood so far away from the ocean, but they were even fresher than being right next to the shore!! One dozen oysters, didn’t do it. Two dozen oysters… Phenomenal. I don’t even understand how they were able to get this shrimp cocktail so extremely fresh. If Nicole is your bartender your experience will be unforgettable. Atmosphere is out of this world and the staff is fantastic. You’re missing out not going here.
This place is class and chill and wonderful. Went there with my amazing husband on an adventure and WAS. NOT. DISAPPOINTED. The staff was kind but more importantly, the staff was OUTSTANDING. The oysters were so out of this world that we ordered 12 and then ordered 12 more. We went there at Christmas time and the place is decorated so wonderfully festive and spectacular that it made such a spectacular night for us that we can’t wait to go back again tomorrow.
We came in from South Florida not expecting too much. We had cocktails at the bar with Nicole and they were amazing. Nicole's service and attentiveness was outstanding. We were seated and served by the best staff ever. I need to call them each out by name as they made the evening most enjoyable. Nicolas, Justin, Jessica, Jesse, Hanna Cristian and Kevin. THE BEST SERVICE!!! We had a delicious sea bass and my wife had the short rib. Dessert included warm chocolate cake. One of the best meals and service we have had in a while.
Came here for my 39th birthday with my two friends and it was a lovely quiet Wednesday night! Truly a treat felt like we had the place to ourselves but there was a good amount of people there. The ambience was amazing, the food spectacular! The wine selection was amazing as well! Our server chris was amazing! Please come here for a birthday or date! What a treat
This is a gem in a not so nice area. That is about the only negative thing I can say. The establishment is in all respects a wonderful place to enjoy exquisite meal with your friends and family. Our party of 5 had a variety of dishes and each one was provided in such a way that showed the chefs passion and desire to please the recipients of his creations. So many times you go to what is labeled as fine dining and leave frustrated and upset that you spend your hard earned money and got nothing that resembles the value and quality of what was implied by the establishments advertisement. Bravo Brasserie 292 team. I recommend this place wholeheartedly.
We went for my daughter's birthday, she looked around and liked the menu, so the choice was made! Despite some unfortunate police activity outside, the restaurant provided us with a great experience. Our party ordered everything from roasted chicken, to branzino and black bass specials, to wild boar ragu, and everyone was complimenting the presentation and flavors of their respective dishes. The service was attentive and timely leading to a great experience. To top it off, my wife had mentioned my daughter's birthday when making the reservation (large parties should call as I believe online limits to a party of 6) once everyone had finished eating, rather than asking about dessert, our server brought out a beautiful cake with a personalized birthday message. This loving touch was not requested, nor reflected on our bill, it was just a wonderful surprise added by a thoughtful business. I enthusiastically recommend Brasserie 292 for a fantastic meal and experience, this was my first time, but will not be my last.
I met my wife over 10 years ago on a blind date here, this was our first time back for Valentine’s Day and it was better than we remember. Next level specials, creative dishes, executed perfectly. Love this place and it holds special meaning to us Cowboy ribeyes crusts were charred to perfection , the tuna tartare with avocado was an excellent starter We had a hard time choosing but they also had a beet and goat cheese appetizer I wish we were hungry enough to order. We finished with a peanut butter mouse cake that had an Oreo crust that was heavenly
Wonderfully frienly staff. A specials list the length of your arm. Each person in our party found a different special that was ordered and loved. Easy off street parking in the lot in back. A reservation had us seated immediately. A delicious selection of cocktails and wines. To top it off, of course, amazing desserts. I can't wait to return!
We went to Brasserie 292 for Mother’s Day. Don’t let the location deter you from visiting this amazing hidden gem. There was plenty of parking on Main Street and there’s also a parking lot behind the building if you drive around the block. When you step inside you are immediately transported to a high-end French bistro style dining experience. Each food item that was delivered was better than the last and they all started out absolutely delicious! The cocktails were equally satisfying with the fire side chat being a favorite of the night. Every appetizer on the menu looked and smelled delicious as it was delivered to tables beside us. We were extremely fond of the fresh and fried oysters the octopus and the escargot. We had an amazing dinner spread filled with steak Frites muscles and fresh pasta dishes. I’ll be dreaming about the Pot de Creme for weeks until I return. The owner(s), chef, and kitchen staff Obviously put a lot of care into providing this awesome dining experience. We highly recommend!
A unique place with amazing food! Went there for dinner, we started with some bread, the oysters were served with fresh horseradish and sauce, then we had escargot, everything was delicious! My entree was duck breast. The portion was perfect! I still had enough room for the dessert and a cup of cappuccino. I would recommend making a reservation. We had dinner at 8pm and the restaurant was full! Just the whole atmosphere there is really nice. Our server was great too btw!
Great place. Had a REALLY good dinner here on New Year's day. The chef is grade A! The salmon was truly amazing. Oysters cold and fresh, even the homemade soda was better than any soda I've ever tasted! Highly recommend this place if your looking for an upper class restaurant in poughkeepsie!
Beautiful store front and atmosphere. We did cocktails where the "Snuff Box" is a must for bourbon lovers. It's tea infused. Menu is loaded with far too many good choices and specials make you want to order more. Just ask your waiter for recommendations as they have tried it all. Be prepared to drop a few $$'s. But it's worth it.
Enjoyed a nice meal at Brasserie while on vacation. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and romantic, and we loved the round booth we were sat at. The area in downtown Poughkeepsie is a little sketchy at night so just be aware of that. The food was delicious. The only issue we encountered is that I have a dairy-allergy and they were not so accommodating about it. I initially ordered a dish that seemed to be dairy free as there was no mention of dairy in the menu description, and my server stated it was dairy free. A little while later, another server came and told me there was butter in the dish I ordered and that everything on the menu had butter and it’s a French restaurant so what did I expect. I didn’t appreciate the attitude and the fact that she made a big deal out of it. Ultimately they did accommodate me, but they made me feel guilty about something I have no control over. If you don’t have any allergies I would recommend this place, but if you have any dietary restrictions I’d go elsewhere.
Cocktails are really fun, and there’s a good beer and wine selection. The steak tartare we got for an appetizer was delicious. My son and I both got the salmon medium rare and it was fantastic. The Brussels were great too. Husband got the duck breast and it was very tasty too. Potatoes are yum! Service was a little slow at first, but got better.
The outdoor dining was quite lovely. My date and I enjoyed the ambiance. They have erected a wonderful tent and surrounded it with a picket fence. The staff were pleasant and quick to respond to requests. The food was average for upscale dining. Both the escargot and trout were overcooked but edible. I would be interested to see their food quality after the pandemic ends.
Our waitress is very friendly. She told us their special which was quite a few. We had order escargot which was missing a piece. We told our waitress and the piece was replaced with additional 2 more. That's was nice. My spinach that came with my trout dish was a bit salty but in general food was great
If I could give them 4.8 I would. This is a local gem 💎 in the middle of Poughkeepsie NY. This place was a total surprise to us. Great food, unforgettable service and a great atmosphere. Please make the reservation and go. Everything we tried was exceptional. Escargot was screaming hot and tasty, very good home made liver patte and a tiny little latkes with salmon. The duck breast was cooked to perfection and I think it was smoked before they cooked it. Chicken coudon blue was excellent, and the butcher steak was cooked just right. Awesome dessert and drink selection.
5.5/10 Service: took way too long to get seated even though we had a reservation, took way too long to get our food (over an hour!!) even though the restaurant was at 60% capacity at the time, took me 1hr30min to get a club soda with lemon (??). unacceptable. Food: Octopus was tender. Canard confit was waaaay too sweet and dry. very disappointed as a French restaurant should have this dish down to a T. fried Camembert was overrated. sauteed spinach was okay but presentation was poor. Atmosphere: nice place. reminded me of France, although a lot larger and high ceilings. decor was pretty. Wouldn't recommend at all.
I’ve been a patron for over 3 years and it’s always been hit or miss. Sometimes it’s the best and sometimes it’s subpar. I’ve had the best martini and I’ve also been served a warm one and told that I should order it on the rocks if I want it cold. I’ve had a perfect temp steak and one way over cooked but we all have some off days. The last time I was there I had made a reservation and when we walked in was immediate ‘greeted’ by the host “I can already tell you we don’t have room for you tonight!” Didn’t ask if I had a reservation, how many we were, nothing. On top of that there were half a dozen open tables. We left and had dinner elsewhere. Called back a few days to discuss and the same host answered the phone. After asking to chat with a manager I was told “they have a lot of managers” and refused to connect me. The inconsistency in food is balanced by a consistent atmosphere and wait staff but the last interaction with the host left a bad taste in my mouth. Not saying don’t go but just know it’s a gamble.
Our server was so friendly and kind. I would not recommend the scallops or the espresso martini.
Came tonight for Valentine's Day and it was quite disappointing. I felt really bad for my partner who found this place and was soo excited about it to only be thoroughly let down. We got seated in a side room behind the bar. It was basically a hallway with booth/bench seating along the wall, with smaller wooden chairs opposing it. The tables were pretty dinky and the man who was seated to the table next to us came in and loudly said, wow they really pack ya in here! There's only about 6-9 inches between tables. I had to really squeeze myself between tables to sit. Fortunately, no one was seated next to us yet, but when another couple next to us came, we did move our table over for her to fit through. As for the meal, they really want you to get the bottled still water (probably cause there's an up charge on it), but they dont really up sell cocktails. We had to ask our server if we could order some since she never asked. They took a while and came after we started eating our starters. You should bring your own water if you think you'll need a refill. We had empty glasses for more than half the meal. ...But the starters were good! We did the oysters which were great, the octopus, which was the highlight of our meal, and the escargot which was fine; we've had better elsewhere. They were kinda jumbled, like none in some of the divots, but then 1 or 2 in the others. We opted to split an entree and got the duck breast. It was not good for duck breast, but good enough to eat. Ten minutes after ordering it, our server came by with someone behind her and she asked "what temperature did you want your duck," which ive never been asked before.. the man she was with stepped in and said the recommended is medium, to which we agreed to. When it came, we were surprised about the taste. It legit tasted like ham and it was sooo chewy. They also expect you to cut it was a butter knife lol. The table to my left also got it and said it was good, but had an interesting smokiness to it and also thought it was way too chewy. Then the table to my right also go it! I was eavesdropping and his partner (who was 4 inches away from me) asked him if it was supposed to taste like that (he said i dont think so) and told him he should really order something else (he said no tho). For dessert, no idea. We were never offered a menu. We waited a little more than 20 minutes before hunting down our server for the check. We ended up staying for 2 hours, mostly just waiting. My partner then told me someone had called to confirm our reservation and asked that we keep our dinner to an hour and a half. What a joke. I was glad to not get the dessert menu, especially since someone near us said "weird, there aren't any French desserts on here." Not sure why this place is so highly rated.
Stayed in the area and had a Valentine’s dinner here. I had made a reservation in mid-January, and after confirming online I also had to confirm over phone, but the reservation itself was fine. Somewhat of putting, I was told if you’re not there within 20 minutes we’ll give your table away and we try to have people seated for about 90 minutes (but really it’s fine, just little off kilter). We were seated within 10 minutes of the reservation. The atmosphere is tight, but pretty nice, and you can hear each other pretty well. The food was pretty good, not exceptional, but they have many options and for the most part it was good (full detail: oysters great, escargot okay, octopus really good, duck breast was okay). Ultimately the flaw was slow, inattentive service. Our drinks came after appetizers. They were very quick to try and clear appetizer plates away, but once we got our entrees we never saw the server again. No more water, no more drinks, no dessert menu, (okay, I guess check and we’ll be in our way). The prices are not crazy, but there was definitely more to be desired. There’s a lot of good food seemingly around, but Brasserie 292 just didn’t meet our expectations.
Our server messed up our order and was unapologetic and very inattentive. Food was okay but lacked salt in several dishes. Baguettes were a sad grocery store ready to bake variety. Decor in the side room tacky.
It was OK. We were told twice pre arrival we would be seated at a booth. An hour drive from CT. We arrived and guess what? No booth ever for 2..No complimentary cocktail or apology from the owner/manager who sat at a table drinking. The tables in the middle are a nightmare as you constantly have to be careful of the staff going by on either side. The food was just OK. The 14 day aged strip was tough. 4, yes 4 green beans accompanied the steak with a mound of decent fries. My wife had shrimp Provencal which was lacking much flavor. I can say that our waitress was nice and the bread and butter was the best we'd ever had. 'Bout $166 later.
First I will start with the food…exceptional. However, the experience was greatly hindered by the service. We waited over 30 min just to order drinks and appetizers. Our waiter was seemingly not paying attention to our table at all. Even other workers at the restaurant took notice of how long our table was being ignored and spoke up and came over to help. Our table was front and center in the dining room. Yes it was a busy night, and a wait is to be expected, but seeing people come in after us and having appetizers brought to them before we even ordered was very disappointing. The waiter was then briefly more attentive before seemingly ignoring the table again. However, the food was amazing! It was just unfortunate to have to spend close to 3 hours for just appetizers and a meal. We didn’t even end up getting dessert because we were there for so long. I wish something had been done to rectify our experience since it was so noticed by most of the other staff. Will have to think about returning
Service was slow. We dine out often and prefer to keep our money in our own community or at least nearby as opposed to chains. The restaurant itself reminds us of what we frequent in NYC, small and quaint. Fine by us, we are comfortable in that type of atmosphere. With generally good reviews we came expecting so much more and left hungry and irritated. Our main meal portions are what appetizers in other restaurants usually are. Salads are not included so take that into consideration. Coffee was good but never got a refill. My husband had to order dessert because he was still hungry. Service in general was disappointing. We will not be going back. There are far too many places to eat around Dutchess County that to be unsatisfied once is enough to never go back. Mistakes happen sure but the only mistake here was we chose the wrong place to spend our money.
Paid $15 for a small bowl of microwaved seafood bisque. It was clearly nuked for 5 minutes and tasted like it too. After that, I didn't have high hopes for the rest of the dinner, as it was very forgettable and highly overpriced for the quality of food you receive. Service and ambiance were the exceptions, however, they won't be enough to have me return.
We ordered risotto and steak for dinner. We’ve asked them to change the fries for us as they tasted like yesterday’s. We sat by the bar and the bartender/ server’s first response was ‘They are definitely not from yesterday!’. The first thing he did was to deny what I was saying. He did end up changing the fries for us but the altitude that I was getting - he wasn’t friendly at all. I’d expect servers are more well trained in a restaurant like this. The risotto was not good at all which was disappointing. Overall 2/10, would not recommend
We showed up for our 9PM reservation at 9:15 PM on the dot for them to refuse us service because we are at the 15 minute grace period. We drove 40 minutes to get to this restaurant. No exceptions or apology - just attitude from the hostess and bartender. I understand rules are rules, but that’s McDonald’s behavior, not a French bistro.
Food was decent but service was awful! They forgot our appetizer, brought a drink out very late, never refilled our water and never came around and asked us if everything was okay. Lastly, we saw our waiter attending everyone else around us very well and he was rushing to attend everyone else but us.
We came here to celebrate after my husband came back from a long deployment overseas. We have heard good things. Everything was fine. Drinks and food were good. Our server was a sweet college girl who treated us very well and knew the menu very well. Our meal was unfortunately ruined by hearing the owner, who calls himself the chef, scream (not yell but scream profanity at his employee). This old bald man was screaming at her so loudly from the kitchen we could hear him towards the front of the restaurant. Even if she did mess something up, there is never an excuse to speak to someone the way he did. When the server came back to check in at our table to could tell she had been crying. It was very disturbing and made us loose our appetite and leave halfway into our meal. I will not be returning unless ownership changes and I recommend others do the same.
The service was quite awful which affected the rest of our experience. Though the food was OK, the waiter seemed to make it a mission to ruin everything about our dinner. We had to wait an hour for bread to show up at our table, he forgot to bring food that we ordered, and he was not apologetic nor concerned. We also had to wait around for him to let us pay, and we were waiting to get the heck out of there. We were honestly waiting for him to apologize or give us a menu item free-of-service because the service was so abominable but he clearly never got the message. We essentially didn’t have any service at all— other waiters just showed up to do his job for him while he was busy attending to other tables better. We came for a nice dinner, but were met with mediocre, over-priced food, and a terrible service experience.
Food is not up to par and doesn’t seem fresh. Oysters are usually ok but not many other options. Old bartender was professional and made great cocktails, not the case anymore. The regulars here are troublemakers, loud and rude. Overall bad experience the last two times I’ve went in and that’s a shame because I live close by.
After reviewing the reviews I was optimistic eat here the day before valentines. I live over an hour away and the online reviews blew this place out of the water. Unfortunately when I arrived I received less than positive experience. I have never felt the urge to leave a restaurant when having a reservation ever. We had a reservation for 7:30 and due to the fact that we live over an hour away we arrived early as to assure we wouldn’t be late. We were told it was only going to be a quick wait as our table was finishing up their dessert. We said no worries as we understood we were early. At 7:30 we checked back into our reservation and were told the same thing. At 7:45 I went back up and asked if we had any luck in being seat as I had seen multiple people walk in and sit right away. Me and my husband decided to wait until 8pm and if we had not been seated that we would decide to go else where. At the moment we said we were going to leave a table cleared up out of thin air. At that point we were disappointed in the service and the unprofessional of the restaurant that we declined the offer to sit and found another restaurant near by. I was extremely disappointed as we were looking forward to eating here since they had such positive reviews. That can show you that you can’t trust what you read. Was not planning on going back due to the drive, but was hoping to at least enjoy the food.
Only time I ever had to leave a restaurant. Reservation was for 7:30. I live an hour away and to respect them I made sure to be there 20 mins early. When we arrived around 7:15 the hostess had told me our table will be ready shortly the previous party is paying. At 7:30 we got up and asked again if we would be seated and received the same answer. By 7:45 we had noticed multiple parties arrive after us getting seated. At 8 o’clock we just asked for our check for the wine we ordered while waiting and decided to leave. When we asked for our check they all of a sudden offered to seat us right now and apologized for the long wait. After waiting for 45 minutes we decided to eat somewhere else. Would not recommend very unprofessional.
