Home made pasta, fresh seafood perfectly seasoned and extremely kind lady of the house that served us and prepared our meal.
Best pizza in Progreso! A quiet little place on the corner of Calle 25 and 50. Excellent atmosphere and staff!
We used them to cater a dinner for us and they did a wonderful job. Food was fresh and delicious. Martin spoke English very. well.
This "off the beaten track" small restaurant was excellent. We went twice for dinner. Seafood pasta dish and then a new york steak. The owner/cook is a very personable young guy and the service was excellent and fast. The setting is very basic, but that is part of the charm and experience.
Wonderful evening at Bistro Progreso de Mar! Food was excellent and the chef and hostess are wonderful people and speak pretty good English. You’ll notice some Canadian flags from previous visitors - fun to see! Dinning area is upstairs and we enjoyed our seafood pasta earlier in the week and going back for our final delicious meal in Progreso. Overall, very enjoyable experience as this is more authentic and enjoyable than the beach front restaurants. Ps. The house white wine is surprisingly good for local wine and tastes more like a well balanced white from Chile or Italy - dry, fairly fully bodied. Cheers and make the visit, it’s a 15min walk up from the beach front area.
We visited Progreso in March 2023. Ivan's homemade pasta is wonderful! We ordered the Fettuccine De Mar and it exceeded our expectations in terms of flavor. The fettuccine was fresh and cooked perfectly. Highly recommend.
I have been coming to Progresso for a few years to visit my friend Brian. Since we are both from New York, we know pizza! Great crust. Tasty and light, but crispy on the bottom due to a very hot oven. The pizza with Prosciutto and basil was EXCELLENT. My wife had a GREAT capressi salad. Overall, a great experience at a very fair price. Before we left, I wanted to compliment Ivan. He welcomed us into the kitchen and showed us around. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I will be back.
Best meal in Progreso! Located off the Malecón, but don’t let the location and decor scare you. In a small, second story open air home with great pizza and wonderful fettuccine al mar!
We have eaten at the Bistro several times. Ivan is a great chef and always prepares the food using fresh ingredients from rolls, pizza, salad and pasta. Pepe is a very nice server…friendly and is always ready to deliver what you need. All of the food we have had is excellent!
First time in Progreso area and tried many restaurants and bars but this one is the Jackpot! We was so happy with the food. Ordered daily from them. I don’t think I even try a good food like this in NYC. Don’t hesitate visit this restaurant, thank me later!
Consistently excellent. This has become one of our absolute favorite restaurants. Everything is superb. It's a small place with steep stairs but they do usually have one table available downstairs. Every dish we've had has been even better than expected. No photos, unfortunately, since we always seem to devour our food before we remember to take picybtures. Highly, highly recommended. It's run by two very nice brothers. Particular favorites are the seafood stew, amaretto shrimp (flambéed just before they serve it), pastas, and honestly everything we've had so far. The tiramisu is not a traditional tiramisu but it's still delicious. They sometimes do run a little low on wine, so you can bring your own if you like.
This is perhaps one of the best meals that I have eaten out this year. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the cream sauce was neither too thick, nor runny and the bacon and sausage combination was very tasty. I heard groans of ecstacy over the meat ravioli. And the cesar salads were well presented with nice slices of parmesan cheese. All in all a great meal.
What a wonderful experience. If you want your dollars to go directly back to the community, this is the place! Homemade pasta, fresh salad, great service, perfect portions. I think that the bread was homemade as well. Please visit and enjoy the family experience. Only 3 or 4 tables....so will never be crowded.
Location was across the street from our rental so we had to try it out. So very glad we did (twice). Newly opened very small Italian cuisine eatery. Owner/chef prepares fresh pastas and breads which are some of the best I have ever had including on trips to Italy. Sauces were impeccably prepared. Fresh bread with a cream based dipping sauce while awaiting entrees was like small bites of bliss. The couple that own it are the chef and waitress. It is like having a private chef.
Ambiance very nice, pizza was quite delicious. I’m fairly certain however that there was no alcohol in my margarita.
The place is really ugly, we thought we were in the wrong place at first. It doesnt really seem like a restaurant. We were the only ones there even though online they say have you make reservation. We saw the chef arrive right after we got there, as if he only comes when they have a reservation?? Strange. The service is ok, the girl very nice and the food very good. But we waited over an hour for three seafood pasta dishes! I couldnt imagine how long it wouldve taken if there were other customers. Maybe thats why they only reserve one table at a time? It wouldve helped if they served the bread while we waited for the food but they served it right before the food came out. Either way I wont go back to wait over an hour to eat when theres no other customers, even though the food was delicious.
