Always have loved to eat here and get some ice cream and meals are always fresh and hot.

After crash landing here from Wyoming, I emerged from the smoky remains of my plane and immediately craved a blizzard from Dairy Queen, Independence. I made my way to the establishment and then politely requested my dessert to the cashier. Then, I complimented his head, and how it had the shape and appearance of an egg. He giggled and blushed and well, we’re going out this Thursday. I love you, Dairy Queen, Independence.

Assuming the owner/manager is the one that brought us our food. He was SO friendly! The chickens strips were hot & delicious!

Grew up with a DQ, but no longer have one in my home town. I stop if possible whenever I see them. This one in Independence, KS is the nicest one I have ever eaten in. Cleanliness and hospitality were far above average for any fast food joint.

My kids first time out of quarantine in weeks, we came through the drive thru to get an ice cream. Zaita waited only us and she was the most upbeat and positive personality! She made me kids smile, a breath of fresh air during this pandemic! She truly knows what it takes to brighten someone’s day!

My word, I love going to Dairy Queen with my 9 grandkids and getting everyone Blizzards! My grandson, Eagle, had his 17th birthday party here! We had a blast, it was the most fun he’s ever had! Although I did go into cardiac arrest in the mens room, it’s still my favorite place ever! My wife, Bertha, I met here! I proposed to her here! Our lives wouldn’t have been as great as they are now without you, Dairy Queen! I love you with all my heart

Fast and easy. Even gave us a free sundae when we switched the order on them at the last second. Which I feel bad for, but the customer service was amazing!

Very busy and out of quite a few items, as they just recently reopened, but we'll staffed with friendly, helpful employees. Service was surprisingly quick and ample seating.

Recently reopened after a fire. The place is much nicer and roomier than before. Good food and desserts just as before. The place is really clean and comfortable. We took the kids at 1pm hoping to miss the lunch rush. We were wrong the were packed and very busy. We were still able to get our food quickly and fresh. They even held our ice cream until we were done with our meals.

They have gone back to the original ice cream after the remodel. There is an excellent 5 buck lunch as of 5/2/2019. The service was excellent as always. Good seating, quick service and they now give a coupon for your sunday so that it does not melt while eating your lunch. The staff was outgoing and attentive. The parking can be a little tight and there is on street parking. Everything was clean and inviting. Great place for a quick bite. Great change since the remodel. Stop in for lunch dinner or just for an ice cream, we enjoyed our visit.

please stop for a quick bite to eat there and the lady behind the counter really took her time to make sure my order was right because I'm allergic to cheese. Behind the house staff was quick with our food and it was delicious.

Drive through is always over looked I feel like, but once they finally come back to take your order, its all good....sometimes. The Cheeseburger I ordered was very tasty, even if it was warmed up in the microwave at that time! Still 👍 👍 👍 👍

I can't think of a nicer place. The person who has hired their staff has done a excellent job picking and choosing. I enjoy their respect to my pet friendly friends. Those pup cups make the doggies day. Love our Dairy Queen.

It's been quite busy since they've reopened but they sure are fast! I've had great experiences with friendly staff and quick delivery of my food from door to my stomach. So far the food has been amazing. S'mores Blizzard is lit.

We had a great experience here during lunch today. They were very patient with the mid order shuffle of changes that are the norm with my kids, our food was fresh and hot, and the prices are great!

Excellent service. Polite young man helped me figure out what kind of Blizzard that I wanted, as I couldn't remember what it's called. When I described it, the young man suggested the one I was thinking of. Even though you must walk up I would recommend this Dairy Queen in Rochester, MN. BTW, they had the awesome Orange Julius flavored dip cones.

Since our new DQ has been open, we have the most wonderful experiences. The food has been fresh and very hot when we've got it. The staff has been energetic, friendly and helpful! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he was very kind and very personable! Fantastic experience!

We stopped at this DQ on a road trip during Christmas vacation. The drive thru host was polite, patient and professional at the order speaker. She was friendly and upbeat at the food window. Fairly fast service I would rate better but they just reopened after a year of being closed so its super busy when it calms brown a bit it should get better. Food was great friendly service and order was correct.

I would give it 5 but there seemed to be a chaotic flow of work. I work in fast food and can easily understand this but it was just a bit wack. I will definitely go here again because it wasn't a problem, just seemed unorthodox

Food was brought to me within minutes of my ordering. Evidently microwaved as even the pickles on my hamburger were hot! But it was good and the place was clean. The staff could have been more cheerful.

This is my go-to spot for speedy service. Even when my family rolls up with like a zillion combos and the restaurant is packed, the staff are always good at getting the food out in a timely manner.

Love the food and some of the nice's people. Thy have always treated well and even when real busy taken the time to bring our food out. Wait time even when busy has always been fairly short.

My husband went in side to get our order, when he came out it was oh my at the sight of my strawberry sundae I had ask for a small but it over filled the dish and it was covered with cool-whip and a cherry. It was very tasty and very cold and they remembered the napkins. My husband had a peanut buster parfae but he had peanuts replaced with pecans and chocolate ice cream and hot fudge and my husband loved every single bite. yes we needed the extra napkins. it was a great ending to a great day out.

We've missed the Independence, KS Dairy Queen while it was being renovated after the fire. Today's experience was really good. They we're busy but we got our ice cream right away... Very friendly employees too. Cotton Candy blizzards ROCK!! ✌️

Service was great. Speed was not good but considering it's opening day they was busy. I'll give them they slow service. Fries and blizzard were good. I got a sandwich that was not so good poorly put together. As they was rushing to get it out. Instead of quality over quantity.

I love Dairy Queen treats and sweets; I regularly hit the drive-thru for a box of Buster Bars. The employees here are all great: friendly, fast, very accurate with your order. I will say, every time I've gotten other food here (burger and fries, etc.) it's been less than ideal. Somewhat mushy, undercooked meat. Really chewy bacon. Unmelted American cheese that you find yourself scraping off your burger onto the wrapper or a napkin, just to make your burger edible. This location is absolutely great for ice cream items, but I would not recommend their "grill" menu items at all, sadly.

Dairy Queen was our plan b after a bad encounter with another restaurant and boy was it the right one. I ordered chicken strips and fries and a banana split blizzard. Although they did put the pineapple in it after I had asked them not to, but as soon as I let them know they not only fixed it swiftly , but also gave me a discount. I was very happy with there service and would definitely recommend going in the future.

I stop in here quite a bit when I’m in town. The food is what you would expect, but the friendly service and speed is exceptional for a Dairy Queen. That’s why I come back.

I’ve visited this local Dairy Queen many times. The professionalism and quality is spotty at times. Though you can always get something edible at the very least.

Decently good food, but service is a little bit of an issue. Depending on the time of day, your order could be wrong, take forever to get, or both. However, while they may be slower than alternatives, the food is pretty good and their blizzards are pretty unique!

Pretty good. They state they support a clean and healthy established as per the virus... After the order was placed the employee set our cups mouth-rim down where all of the public's hands had been. So the food was good. But putting my mouth on the rim of a cup in an unknown sterile ok environment... Made me question ❓ if this was worth chancing our health.

I don't complain a lot when treated wrong, especially at restaurants or fast food causes I have worked it, but when I order a six piece plus an extra six pieces and you only give one container of gravy when I the customer ask for gravy as the dipping sauce!!! Come on now use a little common sense would like gravy for all my chicken strips....

Very disappointing. We stopped for the delicious deep fried mushrooms that we grew up on at the DQ in Ottawa, Kansas, only to find out you no longer have them. We live in Oklahoma now & don't get up that way to often, & when we do go to Kansas we usually get a malt, banana split or dilly bar. But tonight we wanted mushrooms, only to find out they are no longer available. We were very disappointed to say the least.

Order has not been correct one time. Perhaps employees that actually care about their job instead of when they are leaving would help. I have tried 4 times since reopened- hope it gets better

Long review warning! Dairy Queen has the absolute worst Drive-thru service in the entire town of Independence. I don’t say that lightly. I would never post a negative review after only one or two visits. As a local who’s resided here for several years, I visit Dairy Queen often. However, every single time I go through the drive thru? My order is wrong, or I’m missing items. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I’m so used to them doing this, I’ll check my bag before driving away from the window now, when usually I check the bag at the end of the drive way to then drive off.. but I can never drive off, I have to always correct what’s wrong/missing when I come to DQ. When told what is wrong/missing sometimes the order is fixed if their mess up is small enough, but if it’s more than leaving out the gravy (My biggest issue is never getting the gravy. Which is a DQ fan favorite, it’s why I’m here a lot of the time)- prepare to argue and pay for their mistakes. I spent 10+ minutes telling 3 different people what they left out of my order that I know for a fact I stated loudly and clearly, since they get my order wrong so often, and I always have someone with me witnessing in the passenger seat. I didn’t even get to tell these three people at the same time. I told one person, so another person came in for me to repeat MULTIPLE times. Then after going through repeating myself an aggravating amount of times, and them still not getting my order right and charging my card more, then another person was sent for me to repeat myself a few more times. THEN the order was still wrong but I was so frustrated I admitted defeat and left. I don’t like to be a complicated customer. We all have our bad days, we’re human. But with my experience through the drive thru being a constant disappointment for over a year, this last visit was my final straw. I don’t want this to be a negative review entirely. I am a DQ fan for life! The food is still ALWAYS delicious and great quality. Ice cream always on point. I don’t have these same issues when I come inside to eat, only go through the drive-thru. The lobby experience is a complete opposite, with friendly staff, a clean place to eat, and my order is usually right if I come inside. Honestly, most of the employees complain they can’t hear well no matter the many cars, or people I’ve been with through the drive-thru. It’s not just a me or my car might be loud issue, because I come through in a different vehicles, and sometimes I’m the passenger in another vehicle and it’s always the same. I truly believe if DQ just upgraded their drive-thru system, they would have less issues (I don’t know how those things work, but based on my experience, this is my educated guess). I hope my review reaches the right person, and everyone sees change soon for the drive-thru experience. Everything else is great about DQ. Its a brag worthy piece of Independence that we have a DQ. It’s clear there are some hardworking people behind it all. Just go inside to enjoy it, do NOT go through the drive-thru.

The little boy that took our order couldn't get any of it right because he had an ear phone in his ear and kept checking his phone the whole time. He brought the food out ND acted like he didn't know that the kids meals were supposed to be in sacks even if you were eating in. Some staff was to busy talking to notice the growing line behind us. The last couple times we have come here the service has really gone down hill. So disappointed because this use to be the best place in Coffeyville and Indy area to eat. There is one employee that has been with the company for years that is absolutely amazing.

Ice Cream was great, however, the customer service was horrible. The girl on headset/window seemed unsure about what our order was and then did not repeat our order to confirm until after we asked. Not only that, she also did not seem to care at all when we were at the window. In addition, our blizzards were partially melted, overflowing/leaking down the side of the cups, and messy.

Asked for fresh 6 piece and got home to find out I got old fries and chicken strips that were dropped back into the fryer ended up given two to my dog cause I couldn’t even eat them. I used to loved eating here but im starting to not like it anymore.

Would give us zero review but I can’t, please do not ever let any of your children work at this establishment. The owner is vile volatile and likes to cuss and scream and children’s faces please for the love of God do not let your children be employed by Dairy Queen save their lives now.

Absolutely horrible service!!! Third time I’ve placed a cake order in the last year or so and it wasn’t done! Had it personalized and all and todays my sons birthday and now won’t get the cake he wants! Don’t order cakes online!

Took my girl's there yesterday to get some blizzards that are delicious the Lady's where very rude and acted liked they didn't even want to be there I had said thank you 2 times and got ignored No smiles just nothing it made me feel uncomfortable won't be going back!

Ordered two blizzards that were only half full. Banana split was the smallest banana split ever! Cup of water was $3.00. I am done with Dairy Queen.

First, no gravy. Didn't tell us until we had paid for our food. Ok, fine, whatever. Next, i go to grab a fork for my bbq chicken strips. They ask each other, kinda laugh, and inform me no forks. Would i like a knife? Sit down and stab my chicken with my knife. Burnt. Dark and crispy. Luckily that averages out with my still translucent and cool fries. It's obvious that no one here would care if i complain, so I'll just grab something edible somewhere else on the way home. Edited to add: apparently the women's restroom is out of order as well. Never in my life have i ever seen a teenager move so slow. Had to repeat order 3 times. Ordered a Sunday to eat with our meal for one of use. That is all she wanted. Had to ask 4 time to get it. Finally did at the end of are meal

Ordered a bacon burger and literally watched them take it out of the microwave and hand it to me. I asked the drive through associate “Did my burger just get heated up in the microwave?” She said yup, that’s how we hear them up.

This place is a mess. Staff are jerks. Manager is a bigger jerk. Place is always filthy. Food is terrible. Drive thru is always backed up for basics that should always be ready. Terrible place. Would not recommend this place even to my mother in law.

It was awful, they cant get the orders correct, you look around and nobody wants to be there, and when you go to talk to them it's like deer in I head lights just staring at ya. It's obvious the manager needs fired bc they can't manage their coworkers.

Horrible service got my order wrong and i had to come back for drinks. Then i get to where im going to eat burgers, they were wrong totally then i called and offered no real solution!! WE eat there often and run into this often but we wont be back!

This place has turned into a joke. Went there for dinner with my kid on Halloween. Ordered a #1 meal and a grilled chicken meal. Waited in the long line to pay and get our food just to be told at the window they were out of grilled chicken. Funny thing is the girl in the window told me they have been out for over a week and decided not to tell the customer until after they wait in line. One day this place might actually get a owner or have managers that care about customers.

Most of the food was heated up in the microwave, the burger was still cold.. Gravy was water with white chunks and smelled like dirty feet! When I called the manager Shelby or whatever her name was (same girl that served me my food in the drive thru) said she didn't know and would check it out... Rudly interested me after she asked if there was something she could do next time I came in... I WONT BE GOING BACK IF SHE STILL WORKS THERE!! STRAIGHT UP LIED ....

Incredibly slow. Waited 25 minutes for our food when the restaurant was not busy, only to receive cold food that tasted terrible. Didn't receive any of the condiments we ordered. Girl at the counter was very nice and friendly but unfortunately her performance did not effect our poor meal.

Melted ice cream and poor customer service. Tried to include a picture, but two blizzards, completely melted, and one overflowing the cup causing quite the mess in our car. the fries were also not hot overall bad experience.

My neice's burger was ordered with only ketchup. Came out with everything. I took to counter and had it fixed. Sat back down and almost gagged when I put my burger close to my mouth. It smelled like something was rotten. Looked and the tomato slice was absolutely disgusting. I sure went back to the counter. We probably will never visit that DQ again.

Went there to get 3 meals replaced after receiving the completely wrong order. Was treated rudely and was not even asked for the receipt which I had. I backed out of the drive thru and went to Arbys. I will not be going to DQ there in Independence, Kansas for a long time. This was not even the first time they have messed up my order or left something out. This is just the first time I ever called about it since the whole order was wrong.

For the second time I’ve been told that I can’t order a burger because it was too close to closing time. This time was ~15 min before closing, the last time was 30min. Maybe more. And after I was denied tonight, the cook was rude, threw his hands up, and said we’re closing in 10 min for the holiday.

The lady that took our order didn't know what she was doing. She couldn't answer our questions, the chicken strips were a lot smaller than advertised in the picture, got about 6 fries, and our blizzards were left out and got melted. The lady still tipped the blizzards over even when they were clearly melted, it dropped onto the table and all she said was sorry and still served them to us. Everyone working there didn't seem to know what they were doing.

The absolute worst food I've ate. I'm mad about it to because I've never ate at a Dairy queen before definitely won't again mind you they have great customer service well the lady that took our order was amazing she even did her restaurant figure eight which seeing that is impressive that places still use that method! But the burnt meat over sauced burger to the still frozen fries we all got frozen fries. They weren't even busy! The guy wasn't having it on the refund. I don't argue so we just left!

Went to this dairy queen this afternoon and when I put in my order for the drive through they said it was 3.49 for a small cone...... I was wondering when I pulled up why there was no one in line at the drive thru and no cars in the parking lot. Once I no heard the price realized that the prices where so outlandish that no one in their right mind would be there. Canceled my order and won't be back with those prices.

My husband and I spent the day outside scraping and painting our garage today, and I was not wanting to cook supper. So, we decided to go to Dairy Queen( big mistake). We have not had very good experiences at this facility since the Taylor's sold it. Our order was over $30, and not worth it! It was all messed up. Didn't get what we ordered and it was cold. We even waited for awhile at the window. This is the worst place in Independence, Kansas to eat!!!!

The fries and toast was cold. The onion rings had been heated for so long they were hard as rocks. The chicken was barely warm. It was obvious everything was pre-cooked as my order was in the window before I finished paying. The lady assured me everything was fresh. Never did apologize. Said she could warm up my toast.

I paid for extra ranch. I got none at all. I got 2 chicken strip baskets, with chicken strips so burnt it was falling apart, and like 10 fries, literally. If a customer pays extra for ranch, and gets chicken strip baskets. Please give them what they asked for and paid for. This is ridiculous. Pure laziness.

Yet another restaurant falling short do to the pure laziness of employees that are just there for a paycheck. The fact that the employee dump half of the blizzard on the ground, and his hand, and then flipped back over, still gave it to my wife, and sent her on her way is appalling.
