My visit to Caffe Reggio was unforgettable. The vibes are classic and cozy, the food is delicious, and the coffee is great. The service is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home. If you’re in New York, this spot cannot be missed, a true must try experience.

They claim to have developed the original cappuccino from the early 1900s. Very good coffees and dessert that's what we had.

Went there for the coffee, stayed for the story. They have a Caravaggio there for those interested. Their coffee was amazing and their desserts were delicious. Highly recommend the tiramisu and the pecan pie.

Lena and the team here are absolutely incredible. Early morning, mid afternoon, dinner or late-night - the staff always make you feel right at home. The cappuccino here is the best in NYC - always made to perfection. The ambience is truly special - beautiful music, artwork and interior design - like stepping back in time. Perfect whether you’re a local or a tourist. Lena and the staff make Caffe Reggio a joy to visit.

Today I finally made it to Café Reggio in NYC, almost by accident. Years ago I read that Joseph Brodsky loved sitting in some café in Greenwich Village to write, but I’d completely forgotten the name. On the first snowy day in years, a stranger in the West Village pointed me to Reggio, and it turned out to be that place. I’m genuinely happy to be here.

Great little place to visit for hot drinks. I had the Granola yogurt with a hot chocolate and it was delicious. People also come in to take picture of the inside so could be busy. Will come again soon!

Went here with my daughter (she studied here @F.I.T.) and loved the place. It was November and cold but we sat first outside so we could say we had a cappuccino here, well I had one. My daughter had a warm spiced spiked applejuice, her favorite there. Luckily later we could sit inside. Hope to come back sometime but we're from The Netherlands, so it will take some time I'm afraid.

I have been frequenting Reggio's for almost 27 years now. It might have been longer if it wasn't for my foreign born parents who were very strict and literally knew how many minutes it took me to get off that school bus and arrive at our 2-bedroom apartment. I would have to skip school to venture into the outskirts of my hometown in Elizabeth, NJ, but time was limited and so was my piggy-banked lunch money that I saved by starving through many-a-lunches. So, as soon as I could drive in 1997, I commuted through the Holland Tunnel, (then about $4) and into the thousands of black-checkered, yellow Crown Vic's of "the City". I swear I learned how to drive like Mario Andretti there and remained a solid driver since. On that first trip, I ended up at Caffe Reggio and cemented my love and respect for the place ever since. With no Google Reviews, Trip Advisor or Yelp to reference, I trusted my instincts and relied on the dozen or so patrons I watched come in and out of there. Their hot coffee in hand moving quickly to their next location, or the couple taking up a seat at the few tables in the front. It was May and the weather back then was in the high 60's, so the front door was wide open and invited me in. The counter is still in the same place today as it was back then. You can't barely even fit anything on it, but they manage to dish out food from the kitchen onto trays and out to the tables with little to no hiccups. What do I order? A Cappuccino! Again, no idea why, but I have never ordered anything different since. I have 3 wonderful children who admire the city as much as I do and they, along with my wife, know that a pit-stop on MacDougal is part of any trip into NY. They too now have their own "go-to" on MacDougal: the Creperie. So, I grab my coffee to go, and walk them to their "Creperie" and enjoy my cup whilst waiting for their French-inspired, Nutella-drowned, fruit-healthy pancakes....and everybody feels complete.

Unbelievably gorgeous and authentic Italian coffee house in the heart of Greenwich Village. Not only will you enjoy your coffee in this tiny museum full of Renaissance era paintings, but you are also sitting in a historical site with the original cappuccino machine, the first in the United States. The coffee is extraordinary the staff is amazing.

Came here on Halloween with a few friends. We sat outside. I had the campagnola Bianca with plain iced tea, my friend had pesto bruschetta, chicken wings and a non-alcoholic hot cider and my other friend had a non alcoholic hot cider with ravioli. The meal was very delicious.

Amazing, historic Cafe in the village. Apparently the first U.S. cafe to serve the Cappuccino? Beautiful atmosphere, easy to get a spot despite a big crowd, cheap and yummy menu items. Highly recommend.

Now I know why Al Pacino had his coffee here, it’s so nice vibe. I had a cappuccino, and it had really good taste, the bar is crowded in the afternoon, but I didn’t mind it, the service is fast and the staff is polite.

Caffe Rggio The first caffe in the United States to serve Cappuccino. Since 1927, behind every great legacy is a steward, and today’s Caffe Reggio owes much to its current owner, Fabrizio Cavallacci. I have been told I must visit Caffe Rggio in Greenwich Village, near by iconic Washington Square Park. First impression step inside Caffe Rggio, feel like lost in time or place somewhere in an old country. I found myself a spot and ordered a cappuccino, which is an amazing flavor, strong, and creamy, cappuccino standard traditional cup. The entire decor was kept maintained, and I found myself admiring the element of the old country atmosphere. I was very surprised when I received my bill; it was much less than Starbucks. This is a service is a polite and gracious attitude; even the place has outdoor seating.

The best origin Coffe Shop in New York ❤️❤️❤️ the staff is so kind. The very first Cappuccino ever made in NY was made here. Its a location from The Godfather 2 with Robert Deniro.

If you're an Italian in New York suffering from espresso withdrawal, Caffè Reggio is your sanctuary. Nestled in the vibrant Greenwich Village, this historic café isn’t just a coffee shop, it’s a pilgrimage site. Known as the first place to introduce cappuccino to America, it still serves it with the kind of authenticity that makes you forget you're thousands of kilometers from home.

ADORABLE little cafe. Like a step back in time with the antique cafe tables for two, the classical music that plays quietly in the background, and the bright grass green pain on the exterior of the cafe and seen throughout the interior. The cappuccino is PERFECT. Takes a couple of seconds on your first sip, for the coffee to flow through the froth. Serving amazing cappuccinos since 1927.

Got an iced espresso with Irish cream and a warm slice of pecan pie. All smiles, no complaints. Licked the plate all the way clean. Thank you!

I stopped by late at night and was surprised by how lively it still was—people reading, working on laptops, and chatting, which gave the place a really warm, cozy energy. I had a latte and a couple of desserts, and everything was just right for the hour. Smooth coffee, simple but satisfying desserts, and a relaxed vibe that made me want to stay longer. A great late-night spot if you want something calm but still full of life.

Don't go for the coffee. Proclaimed birthplace of cappuccino in US. Obviously very popular therefore crowded. The cafe itself looks great. Right next to Comedy Cellar.

Very cozy atmosphere with old history. The server was super nice and kind. We tried cappuccino, viennese coffee, iced chocolate, tiramisu, and crepe reggio. - cappuccino: tasted good. I’d try it since this cafe has an old history. - viennese: tasted okay. - iced chocolate: VERY rich. They do not put sugar in the drink so you gotta put sugar by yourself. It tasted very chocolatey and authentic. - tiramisu: I LOVED it. The right amount of sweetness, espresso flavour, super soft and rich. - crepe reggio: it was okay, it has very strong cheese flavour. The crepe is filled with lots of cheese and spinach. It was a bit too salty. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at cafe reggio. I would like to go back and try other drinks and dishes!

Almost a century old cafe serving American's "Original Cappuccino" with a machine that's even older. A cozy space with bit crammed seating. Delicious Italian cheesecake, tiramasu, canollis, pies and other pastries. Often stop by for dessert after a meal elsewhere on the street.

This place is worth visiting for the history alone. Open since 1927 and even featured in The Godfather Part II, the atmosphere is beautiful, classic and full of old New York character. You really feel like you stepped into a piece of the city’s past. Service was excellent. Very fast and efficient, but at the same time they don’t rush you out, which makes it easy to relax and enjoy the setting. The downside was the food and drinks. The cappuccino was watery and not what you’d expect from a place that takes pride in its coffee history. The panini was very basic, and the desserts, especially the éclairs and cannoli, tasted a bit stale. For a historic Italian café, I expected much more in terms of quality. Overall, I’d definitely recommend stopping in for the atmosphere and the experience. Just come for the history and the ambiance, not for the food.

Very bitter cappuccino. One of the least flavorful I’ve had in a while. The service is forgetful and slow. Had to remind the waitress twice for our check, as they were busy talking to each other in the corner. It is a time capsule of a place, so that element is charming, but there are simply many other and much better coffees I’d rather have.

Quite the historic cafe!! They've been around since 1927, the oldest cafe in Greenwich. I honestly did not enjoy my chocolate cake, it was like over half frosting which was kind of insane and a little gross, and it was over $7. However, the interior was so beautiful and meaningful, quite small but so cool. There's seating indoors and outdoors, and a bathroom.

I visited Caffe Reggio today and had a so-so experience. The ambiance and atmosphere were spot on; it’s a historical place with a fascinating 98-year-old story. However, that’s where the positives end. The cappuccinos tasted burned, and the foam was disappointing. The italian cheesecake felt dry and stale, and the chocolate mousse was in the same boat. The service was okay. While it’s worth visiting once for the history, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Cakes and etc are fine, not good, fine. Coffee is always burned! Service is so bad I had to wait half an hour for a simple tap water glass! Place looks very nice.
