I am beyond grateful to recommend this FINE, as in CLEAN, YUMMY, HEALTHY SERVINGS: Seafood/Cumbo. Ecetera. The Atmosphere/Ambience is Chill 😎 👌 Nobody in ya business, seating is great ! I bought three times this month and this past Saturday July 24th: THEY ARE HONEST TOO: 1 I Mistakenly left my Coach Purse there with ALL MY LIFE IN IT(that's what happens after working double shifts in healthcare!) 2. I went back to work, then Realized I lost my purse! I returned there, AND The Manager and Staff had found the purse and SECURED IT FOR ME, NOTHING LOST!!!!!!! MANAGEMENT IS HONEST, DECENT, KIND, and EVERYTHING GOOD!!!!!! Of ALL THE REVIEWS I HAVE WRITTEN THIS IS THE ONE FROM MY HEART! ❤️
Been coming here for a lot of years. Nice simple place, nothing fancy. Friendly staff and amazing food! Their fried catfish is some of the best.
I went to google for seafood in my area and this place and other popped up. I remember the name from the one in Missouri City, which I heard was not that well from family. I was hesitant to go here but after reading the reviews I said why not. I’m telling you this place has already gotten a lot of my money and not because it’s expensive, it’s just that good. From the fried seafood and the blackened. The vegetables and the dirty rice. Definitely stop in and check them out also grab a to go menu because you’re going to need it lol
We like to come to this restaurant often, the service is always good, food usually is too but, today I tried the "Seafood caldo" it was Carrot caldo...4 small shrimps and 5-6 pieces of fish, but like 10 or more carrots, I was very disappointed... besides that, the caldo was so watery, it was no flavor at all!!!
The comfort of the restaurant matches the comfort food there in everyway. Service is that of being home. This place leaves nothing but a smile on my face and much happiness. Food quality is the greatest.....the bomb.
This is the perfect place to go for weekday lunch specials! Maria was a wonderful waitress and the food has never been short of fantastic! 10/10 would recommend
I love this place. Anytime I am on that side of town I make a point to stop in for a quick lunch. I always get the chicken gumbo and a crawfish poboy. The gumbo is just good. The poboy is fantastic. Service is quick and friendly, prices are below average. Give it a shot.
I love this little seafood spot! They fry my fish and shrimp perfectly. The people are always so nice and genuine. You have try this location.
The food is pretty good. The service is not too bad either. Limited seating, but room enough that you can still breathe. Price is average to other seafood restaurants.
Food was really good. Fish is one of the best we’ve had in this area. My baked potato was a little hard. Waiter was nice & attentive. We will definitely be returning.
Good place to eat and price is decent. Crawfish Etoufe with 1 piece of catfish was only $13 and tasted really good. Also had Scallops and Shrimp which was large size. Place is more country setting and relax. Highly recommended
Very satisfied with the customer service. The waiter was polite he came to the table periodically to see if we needed something. The food was delicious. I will be visiting a lot and I have told my friends and co-workers how great the dining at Baytown Seafood.👍
My favorite seafood spot. Try to limit my visits to once per week. Fried fish and shrimp so good. Fried light but still get that crispy taste. House tartar sauce is one of a kind and pairs with the seafood so well. Ask for Mr. Hour, he is my favorite waiter!
Pass by this place every day for almost 4 years now. And said every time got to try this place out. Finally did and oh my what an experience. Greeted with friendly faces and a vey small like home feeling. Had the boudin balls and fried rice to start. Amazing flavors exploding in your mouth. The salad and ranch dressing is amazing even the honey mustard was to scream about. The rice they put on your plates to side the amazing seafood was suck a surprise. I loved the experience and will be going back soon
A humble, friendly location. Here you will find happy couples and peaceful families as customers, who come to eat seafood and other items that at first sight don't draw too much attention but will definitely rattle your tastebuds. This place is the definition of non-pretentious, but that makes their food taste that much better.
The catfish was fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside moist and flaky on the inside. I got a generous portion of sweet potato fries that were very tasty. All in all my favorite local seafood restaurant.
I’ve lived in this area my whole life but have never visited this establishment that I’ve notice has been here longer then I have. Came for lunch today and I have to say the food was delicious the atmosphere was welcoming and my waiter Michael was very attentive. Great experience!
First of all we order and we went and picked it up. They tell you when your food will be ready and you go get it and it is h-o-t. It actually stayed hot. We did not have to hear it in the microwave. That is why I loved it and it was surprisingly delicious.
Nice fleshy pieces of fried catfish. Great grilled veggies.
The catfish is the best in town and the cheeseburgers are really good customer services is awesome and the food is always fresh! Blacken chicken with the veggies and dirty rice is also delicious
They have another location down off Murphy or something like that.... it is not this location..... This location is the BEST!!! Just a little hole in the wall diner, but the food and the service is top notch. Great prices, great food, repeat customer. Highly recommend.
They raised the price but also the quality. Was shocked to see the change but it was well worth it. This restaurant is a local treasure and some of the best fried fish in the Houston area. Been coming here for decades.
Excellent seafood. We ordered the Fried Pickles, 4 Boudini Balls, Shrimp Cocktail, a Seafood Platter and the Snow Crab Clusters. Prices were excellent and it was a TON of food. Service was wonderful and friendly.
Out of the way hole in the wall place. Must be doing something right. How else do they maintain essentially all 4 and 5 star reviews everywhere? Well, the answer is simple: good food (albeit a simple menu), prepared well, and they keep everything scrupulously clean. Not expensive. Simple, but attentive service. This is not a date night restaurant. Plain and ordinary decor. Focus is on the food.
Great service , it's small inside but they treat you like family Awsome food
So delicious and reasonably priced. Great little place. Will be returning many times! Even made it gluten friendly by battering in cornmeal. Yum 😋
I have past the resturant up several times and today I decided to try it out based on the reviews. Well all the reviews were excellent and I have to agree with what everyone stated. The food was great! All the food was fresh and hot the service was great as well. I will definitely be back.
Awesome food, a great service friendly atmosphere, and a wonderful place to dine in head on over to eat. You won't regret it!❤️❤️❤️ The best. Price is great!!
Baytown Seafood has it all: quality, value and amazing customer service! I'm usually not a big fan of fried catfish, but their fried catfish is the best I have ever eaten! I have eaten several things from their menu over the years and have never been disappointed... except when my plate is empty! 😆
Excellent customer service and excellent tasting food. The waiter took my order over the phone and it was hot and ready in under 15 minutes. When I picked it up he brought it to my car with a smile just seconds after arriving and calling. Will definitely go back for some fried tilapia and fries and my mom loved her grilled shrimp salad.
Very popular and worth the wait for a table. The fried catfish was amazing. The sweet tea was great, but the Dr. Pepper had an odd taste to it. I hope that's better next time. The laid back diner-like atmosphere was just right for our family night.
The food was really good. Catfish great but lacked season but still really good. Waitress was very attentive and nice. My hubby loved everything he had gumbo and catfish.
Great service and food. I loved the grilled flounder and shrimp.
I love this restaurant! I come in often for dinner, but I also come in with my ministry group and receive excellent service. Sunday, we visited and there were almost 30 of us! They QUICKLY accommodated all of us and the service and food were superb! We love Juan the waiter. He is the BEST! He knows what we want to eat and drink before we even order, because he has taken the time to really get to know his clients over the years. We always try to make sure that we are in his section. I am a customer for life!
Catfish, freshly fried and juicy. Customer service is wonderful.Maybe they need to smile a little more. But overall they were great
The food here is beyond excellent. The service is very friendly and professional. Your order gets yo you very quickly and it comes hot and fresh. Never a bad meal or experience here. Highly highly recommend you visit.
Food has always been good here and service is excellent.
The food here is amazing! I've been twice in a week. The first time service was great, the second time was a bit of a struggle but still worth it for the food. It's not a glamorous place to dine but again, if youre about the food, this place is it. Born and raised Mississippian here and I am TELLING YOU this is the BEST CATFISH I've ever had!
The food was AMAZING! I got the 3 Catfish and 6 Shrimp with a side of dirty rice. 🥹🥹 It reminded me of home so much (Louisiana). The Fish was so FRESH it broke apart when I picked it up with my hand, it was so juicy and crispy! I highly recommend and I will always come back here when I’m in Houston!
A good mainstay for seafood in Richmond. Great portion sizes. Service is very nice as well
First time trying this place, and we really enjoyed it! We ordered the seafood gumbo with shrimp and fish—both were flavorful and delicious (be sure to ask for crackers). The staff was friendly and professional, which made the visit even better. After your meal, take a short walk over to the pecan shop next door for some tasty pecans and chocolate-covered nuts.
Cozy little place with a warm, homey vibe. Great variety of dishes, authentic Texas feel, and charming wall decor. Felt super comfortable, like eating at home.
The nicest friendliest group of peole with excellent food and just that perfect down home kitchen feel. Quaint but real. No frills just perfect.
My absolute favorite seafood restaurant. From the fried shrimp to the grilled catfish to the étouffée, everything is so fresh and cooked to perfection. The owner is so accommodating and goes above and beyond. My experience over the years, this is one restaurant I can always count on for food quality, more than adequate portion sizes and friendly service. Well done Baytown!!
We love Baytown seafood, but this is by far look at me watch me the best location. It is a humble, country atmosphere with kind-hearted people serving you entreating you like royalty. Great country atmosphere is well worth the drive to Richmond and it's a beautiful queen little section right on the Brazos River. We have been twice now can we are from Cypress and we plan on making it at least once a month. BTW... The Hushpuppies with Ranch are to die for! Love it!
They absolutely have the best catfish plates in the Rose-Rich area . The service is super fast . The atmosphere is always quiet . The reason it's quiet is that the food is so delicious that everyone is enjoying the great , hot food . (Whistles) Hot Damn it's good . Come grab a plate and taste the excellent catfish.
Always good food. Not fancy. Friendly owners greet you at the door. Building is a bit old and needs some renovations. This is our "go to" place for seafood regardless of the other restaurants in the area!
Always good and fresh. Ordered 2 PC fried tilapia and shrimp! Parking is ok, just not the best for someone using a walker or wheelchair. Great staff!
The catfish was great. The shrimp batter was slightly excessive but still had a good flavor. The salad and French fries were good.
always loved this place but, like many restaurants these days they have cut the servings and upped the price. that said the food is good. especially the grilled veggies
Never been to this location, but lucky to find this gem. I ordered a few sides and appetizers for takeout and not a long wait. The fried mushrooms was amazing 🤩. Parking was a little confusing, but great little spot the catch a bite to eat
My folks moved to Richmond and this restaurant has become the go to destination when we take them to eat. Everyone can get what they like (oysters, scallops, shrimp, catfish, tilapia, crab) they way they like (broiled, blackened, fried). The portions are great too. Service is fine. The establishment is.... authentic... The biggest surprise is the fried dishes aren't greasy! Prices are reasonable too.
Off the beaten path, but worth the drive.Small establishment. I got the catfish and shrimp. AWESOME. So many other places over fry the seafood. But this was PERFECT! . Catfish was tender and flaky. Shrimp was just Perfect too. My hus band had the coleslaw. He didn't like it. I went for the salad and it was okay. Would visit again.
Ordered Calimari for an appetizer - rubbery and chewy and I almost choked. Entree was grilled flounder and veggies - expertly cooked fish and the vegetables still had crunch and all grilled to perfection ! Only negative was the dirty rice tasted like instant rice and over cooked with no flavor. The clarified butter was also just butter flavored oil. Come for the fish though!
Better than most any fish & chip place I've ever visited here on the SW side of Houston. Shrimp are a very nice size, batter is seasoned perfectly, the snow crab is amazing, and they never skimp on the condiments. My goto spot when I just want great fried seafood. They offer grilled as well. The options and selections and ability to mix and match are endless. Seriously endless. I'm out of town as I write this and kinda am craving it as I type this review.
First-time visit. Nice light breading to fried foods. Tabasco and tarter sauce seemed to be watered down(?) Beer, but no liquor. Crab cakes were so-so. Good prices!! We'll be back.
Pretty good overall. Salad isn't great, and the fries were a bit soggy, but the popcorn shrimp and hushpuppies were great. Waiter was good too. I'd definitely go back.
A very good seafood restaurant in a surprising space. We have eaten here half a dozen times, and every time it has been an excellent meal. I prefer the seafood gumbo w/ fried catfish, my wife gets the grilled bacon wrapped shrimp, and mom orders the peel & eat spicy shrimp. We've split a large seafood family platter with in-laws and nieces/nephews with no issues and food to spare. Portions are generous, especially with the fries. Service has always been prompt, I don't think we've waited longer than twenty minutes for our food to arrive at the table. However, when busy, it can take a bit for the server(s) to make their way around the restaurant to refill drinks. Casual, family-friendly spot for good seafood in an informal atmosphere.
My best friend brought me here cause I’ve never been here & she said “it’s really good we should go & try it” so we did & I honestly loved the food the cooks know exactly what they’re doing.. expect the service. Our waitress wasn’t around when we needed condiments or napkins & we had to ask the other waiter to give us our condiments. She past our table many times & keep attending other customers but ignored us completely, I don’t know if because we were young adults & she maybe thought we weren’t going to tip her right? Whatever reason was she needs to serve everyone that same.
Shrimp wrapped bacon. My go to food here. Grilled veggies and dirty rice in the back fried pickles and mushrooms. Quite small place depending on time. Three bathrooms family and his and hers. Handicap parking. They dont just do sea food put it is thier specialty. There is stake, burgers, and fried fice as well. Check it out.
We decided to try this place, and boy, are we glad we did!! We placed 7 orders. We ordered the catfish, shrimp, corn fritters(yum), fried oysters, and crawfish ettouffe. The fish was hot, fresh, and fried to perfection. Shrimp was juicy and jumbo, and the ettouffe was delishous and creamy with a slight kick! The corn was my favorite! Pricepoint was fair, too! We will be back!
Always go there for my seafood fix. Very good fried shrimp and fish.
I ordered the grilled flounder and shrimp lunch plate. It was amazing. It was seasoned well and not over cooked. The flounder was flakey and light. The shrimp was a good size. However, I also ordered a Crab cake, it was not worth the $7 for one cake. It was over fried. The crust was hard as a rock and very salty. The Crab meat was good, just too much crust that was horrible. I will go back though, just not have the fried options.
Great price for the quality. Usually eat lunch there once a week. Every bit as good as Pier 36 but much cheaper. Of course pier 36 has a better atmosphere.
Parking is difficult, but doable. Service was very friendly and on the ball. The only problem was that the food was just very bland. My wife had the fried shrimp and scallops and I had the chicken fried steak. Both were "not bad, but not great." Perhaps this is meant for an older crowd that prefers food that way but ultimately we were both disappointed in the lack of seasoning or flavor. That said, though, you certainly get your money's worth in portions.
This was my first time eating food from this place and it wasn’t the worst but it wasn’t the best either. I was hoping that I would enjoy it but I was highly disappointed. I ordered the calamari as an appetizer and a side of hush puppies to go along with my one piece fish, shrimp, and stuffed crab. The calamari was terribly dry and the marinara sauce tasted like it was from a can. The hush puppies were so hard that I couldn’t eat the outside of them. They were dry, tasteless, and a let down. The fish was excellent however the tartar sauce they provided was absolutely disgusting. I tried to eat the tartar sauce but I could not get past the taste of sourness and disgust. The shrimp was average but a nice serving. The stuffed crab was the best part! I’d give it a second chance.
Nothing special about the food. Catfish pieces are nice size but not well seasoned. Same with shrimp. Fried rice is greasy and comes with too much egg. More than likely won't come back.
The mahi-mahi was probably not genuine. It tasted way too "fishy". The fried appetizer mushrooms were good. Overpriced for a restaurant in a small town
Unfortunately the recently changed the batter on the fried shrimp and not for the better. The batter is very thick and you can’t hardly see the shrimp. Shrimp was kind of rubbery that I wondered if I was eating real shrimp.
Best part about this place is the staff! They were super nice, quick, and helpful!! The food was alright. My boyfriend got a fried platter and I wish I had too, as the grilled shrimp were overcooked. Also, skip the dirty rice and stick to fries or okra. I'd go here again, but It wouldn't be my first choice. And the restaurant itself could have been a bit cleaner.
Positive is their fried catfish is really good. Negative is the long time staff has moved on so service was horrible. Ordered same fried catfish plate as always but the fries were different. Asked the waitress if they have changed or...??? Her response was "I don't know, I just bring the food out.". Um...ok well I'd like to know for the future. Again...but with attitude...I got a "I don't know I just bring the food out." Saw I was getting nowhere with little miss wet blanket attitude so asked for the manager to come over which got me an eye roll. Yeah, Haylee is definitely in the wrong line of work! Long story short, even though I had to ask twice for the manager, sadly Mr. Khi was not much help. He made lame excuses for the service, for the food and was unapologetic. Very disappointing dinner after all the years of it being our go-to place for a good fish dinner.
Overall the catfish and shrimp combo plate was descent. Not over seasoned. The fries were soggy. I paid $17.30 for the 2 piece catfish and a 6 shrimp plus an ice tea. It comes with a small "salad" basically lettuce, one tomato slice and shredded carrots. On a plus side the service was great.
We have come to this restaurant for several years and always loved it! BUT... we visited yesterday and the fried shrimp were BRIGHT YELLOW in color??? I asked the waitress if they got a new cook and she said they've had the same one for years? I mentioned the shrimp being solid yellow and she said it could be the eggs... really? Shrimp turns solid yellow if the egg yolks are a bit darker... NOT! (Did research, on the internet, to find out what could've caused it.... so far nothing?) The customer seated behind us overheard my conversation and totally agreed that something changed and their shrimp color concerned them as well! What could it be???
Chicken strips were tough. The crab legs overpriced for the amount of meat and the crawfish etoufee not aligned with what a traditional crawfish etoufee should be. Also, the crawfish were extra small and tough. Not the greatest experience. Would I eat it if it were my only choice? Yes. Otherwise, no.
Went around 12:30 to take mother for an early Mother's Day lunch Saturday before Mother's Day, needless to say I will never eat there again.... Fish smelled fishy, a party of 9 experienced the fishy smell. Oh well , that's terrible but I won't eat there ever.
The salmon dinner made one of our coworkers sick. Two other coworkers waited nearly an hour for their food to come out. The batter on my chicken fried steak was very bland and didn't stick to the meat. I had quite a bit of leftovers, but couldn't stomach it to eat it again.
had been coming here for years as it was a good restaurant but since the beginning of this year (2023) they have significantly increased their prices and stopped their normal side salad to each order (so they hiked up the prices and stopped adding the additional salad). additionally, they will charge you the price of a soft drink ($2.99) for a water.
I saw two waitresses preparing the salad with their bare hands. That's nasty how do we know where their hands have been . Another thing, the waitress never came to give me a refill on my tea . Didn't even ask if i wanted more tea . But she was nice.
My catfish was over cooked and was hard. The manger acted like he did not care. He gave me a two dollars discount on my food. I know the old manger would of did things differently. I been going there for a long time. No more.
Spent $170 on a meal for my family. The fish and shrimp were bad. Made our stomachs hurt and gave us diarrhea. Won’t go back again. Also the place is old and nasty looking
I ORDERED the fried catfish you Can taste the oil conditioner in the fish and the filet is so thin .and the place is just dirty and gross look at it inside sometimes. No more for me.
Yesterday i went to Dine with my husband, and once I received my fish it was very squishy and my fries weren’t at its best. I’m a usual, so i know the food is always great. But YESTERDAY when i went i asked the manager if he could make could give me another fish that wouldnt hurt my stomach. Well instead of correcting the problem, The manager brought the fish to my table and squished his fingers though it saying whats the problem with the fish. Yelling at me infront of other customers, It embarrassed me. I will be reaching out to HR, this is completely unacceptable. I will never be back, nor will i bring my family back here.
We use to eat at this place a few times a yr. We went this evening and the place has gone downhill. The fish was not the same . Fish was cut thin and overcooked and dry and the shrimp was not same recipe. We were disappointed. It tasted like the oil was not change. Got home and my stomach was upset . Will not be going here again.
The food is good, but the service is terrible.. The restaurant needs a deep cleaning. The manager at this place is terrible we also complained about the service and his response was they are just girls.. So , you keep your slow rude service we won’t be back to your restaurant.
I came to this place for the first time, and to say the food was awful is an understatement. I ordered a gumbo and had to ask the waitress to get me something else because it was so salty you couldn't even swallow it. Then I ordered a catfish dish, and half of the fries were burned and tasted like old oil. You could literally squeeze the oil out of them, and the catfish had zero flavor. All 6 of us ordered different plates and left the place without a single good thing to say about the restaurant, and don't even get me started on the bathroom. Aside from being dirty, you could smell the stench from where we were sitting. It was disgusting.
I ordered 4 piece fish fried hard. I took a bite and it was good but soft. They offered to give me some fried crispy as I requested. Once I got home I noticed the same piece I took a bite off was the same they REFRIED and gave back to me. Mind you I touched this fish and took a small bite. Kye I believe who he said is the general manager told me when I voiced my concern that I had bit the fish and I noticed they basically put that same fish back in the grease his word well the grease is 400 degrees anyways it will kill whatever you may have had from biting the fish. Makes me wonder how often this is done. I will never visit here again and will definitely get the word out. It’s nasty to take food back that someone touched or ate and put it in same fryer.
