Opiniones de Sandy Mcgees Richmond
Always a go to known for the best “chicken salad” and much more. Worth a drive to old Richmond. It’s been around for years. Also has delicious soups, entrees, salads, sandwiches, and adult beverages! Highly recommend!
First time there for late lunch after a meeting in the area. Located in old downtown Richmond, parking is easy, place was busy. I had the French Dip sandwich and it was spot on, that's all I can say for now.
Everyone here is very friendly right as soon as you walk in the door! Menu has lots of options too. I got the southwest salad with cilantro dressing, and it was huge! I couldn’t eat all of it! The cleaning guy was very helpful too with cleaning everything up. It’s also nice that you can pay as soon as you order your food. Food is good though and I would definitely return! Atmosphere is also nice if you’re into the vintage feel.
Will not disappoint the food is amazing and the atmosphere is equally amazing. Nick at the bar is very knowledgeable!
Erin was an awesome server! The food was delicious, large portions, the broccoli and cheese soup was to die for. The strawberries were sweet and actually tasted like strawberries should taste like!! I think this is my new favorite restaurant!
I go here for the egg salad sandwich. It’s so light and fluffy. It’s my favorite
This is such a great place to meet friends and family for dinner or lunch. I’ve used them many times to cater events and they never disappoint. Good people! Good food!
All good! Tasty, aromatic burger and a thoughtfully constructed fruit salad. Will return.
Large portions. Food was amazing. Great location and easy parking
This place was a pleasant discovery in the Richmond area, where I sometimes work. Some may think they are a bit overpriced, but it's well worth it. The sandwiches are HUGE and dressed with very fresh lettuce and tomato on locally baked bread. Best pimento cheese sandwich I have had anywhere in Texas. The tuna and chicken salad are also excellent. Salads are loaded and fresh, with great homemade dressings. Staff is super chill and very nice and helpful. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is that I tried the avocado soup and was unimpressed, but others apparently like it. Great place!
This is a great little sandwich shop with great soups and similar diner options. You have to line up and order at the register before being seated, but parts of the restaurant can't see the register or the signage because they are obscured by a central staircase. About every 5 parties people just sat down and had to be told to go order and then they would be seated. In addition, we had multiple people waiting on to go orders literally hovering by our table. Great place, great service, but the building doesn't fit them completely. It is a cool building though! I'll be back again.
A Richmond / Rosenberg icon. Great food and ambiance located in historic old downtown Richmond. Definitely worth a stop for a tasty deli-style lunch. First time I recall visiting was back in 1991 and loved the chicken salad, which still stands true today over 30 years later!!
Love the eclectic atmosphere! I had the chicken salad sandwich and onion rings, both delicious. Will definitely go back!
We celebrated our parents' 25th anniversary at Sandy McGee's yesterday evening. The menu they prepared for our event was perfect for the crowd we hosted. The food was absolutely delicious. The attention to details from the beginning vision to the end of the party was so helpful in making our party a beautiful celebration of family and friends and love. Thank you Sandy, Rob, and April for taking care of us!
We want to thank Payton and everyone at Sandy McGee’s for their amazing hospitality!! The ambiance , setting and overall aura made us feel as though we were in a dream. From the place settings, to the napkins and everything in between, we cannot be more thankful and grateful that our wedding dinner took place at Sandy McGee’s.
Excellent food and ambience, and the portions, wow! Drinks were tasty and well crafted, but a bit on the pricey side for their size. Otherwise, our group had a great first experience and we will definitely be going back.
I have been coming here for lunch since I was in preschool. Such a wonderful charming place. Since they have uped the cocktail game it's become a great place for mommy lunch dates with my friends. Nothing is more comforting than some broccoli cheese soup and the fruit salad. I have been trying to figure out the poppy seed dressing for years but it's a closely guarded secret or it just tastes better here. I enjoy getting lunch to go and walking to the park across the railroad tracks of by the old police station. Richmond staple. Definitely worth a stop in.
Very good food, great value and awesome environment. Hidden Gem.
The food is great but whatever you do - Don't overeat.... save room for the carrot cake so worth it!!
First time, but not my last. Chicken salad is creamy with lots of chicken and perfectly seasoned. Fruit salad has 4-5 kinds of fresh fruit. I know they're known for the broccoli soup but I had the cold avacado soup and it is exceptional and creamy.
Great food and service located in a historical building in Old Town Richmond. I’ve ordered the Philly cheese steak and my wife orders the au jus regularly. The beef is top quality and the bread too. Come and try it out. I’ve heard they have delicious burgers as well as many other items. Check out the local shops next door and across the street.
I’ll keep it short and sweet. If you want quality food, super friendly staff, “homey” feeling establishment, this is your place to try. Food is always perfect and correct, comes out quick as well. Service is always really friendly and up beat. The carrot cake is not for sale because I ate it all… it’s that good 😩
My BLT tasted great and the server was awesome. I do feel like it is basically a really expensive sandwich shop, but if you don’t mind the higher price it is great.
This is a must stop place! My wife is from Rosenberg and we live in Friendswood. Anytime we visit her family, I make us stop into sandy mcgees. The service is great. The broccoli cheddar soup is amazing. And I usually get a quart to take home with me. And those bread rounds! With the hint of a spicy kick, it is so delicious. I haven't had anything I didn't love. The desserts are also so good we had the Mexican fudge cake. If you love chocolate, this is your cake!
These good people donated a gift card to their restaurant to be used at the Child Advocates of Fort Bend gala, that alone says a lot about them. I went there to pick up dinner and while I waited had a beer at the bar. The food was outstanding! And the beer selection was great. They also have a good wine selection. I highly recommend them!
First, I met Sandy herself and when I say the madams customer service is superb, yes over the top. I ordered the City Secretary -Max out-broc bowl -fruit..... When I say this ordinary dish is Far from ordinary; it will run circles around any restaurant that sales sandwiches and soup. Atmosphere reminds of a country old school diner. I love it and I know y'all would love it. Even though I have eaten most of my food I have a picture to share.
It has been 20 years since I have been here, but my trip here today was great and just like old times. Some might say it is pricy, but fresh fruit and big portions abound here and worth it to me. Everything was fresh and delicious and a good walk down memory lane. Also the carrot cake was on point. Worth a trip from Michigan.
Wonderful experience. The food was delicious and everyone was down home kind. Can't wait to go back the next time I'm in town.
Great food and service in an old saloon. This place and it's second floor would be a crazy popular Airbnb if the owner was interested and local code permitted that. The hearts in the antique invasion bars on the above windows outside are... interesting. 🫢
Amazing experience at Sandy McGee’s! The broccoli cheese soup was rich and flavorful, and the chicken salad on croissant was fresh and delicious. Cozy historic building with a warm, welcoming vibe. Perfect spot for a relaxed family lunch!
This is a little gem of a restaurant in the heart of Richmond, Texas in a historic building full of character with outstanding food and something for everyone. I had one of the best BLTs ever here. They are farm to table, their food is high quality, and you can truly taste the quality. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!
Outstanding wonderful tasty lunch here today! We haven’t been here in years and not sure why it dropped off our radar. We used to eat here frequently and I even had a friend hold a bridal shower for me here in 1998! Well, it’s back on radar now! Still the same good quality food and the best chicken salad I’ve ever had outside of my own kitchen. Delicious fresh fruit and love love love the poppy seed dressing, as well as their famous broccoli cheddar soup. One person in our group had the cob salad and it was amazing! Others in party had Mike’s Plate — all so good!!!
This is a really good place to eat some tasty food. They were very accommodating to our large party of 12. The broccoli cheddar soup was fantastic, the fries were nice and crispy with just the right amount of salt and all the sandwiches, cheesesteak and burgers were excellent. I’m not often in Richmond but next time I am I will definitely be eating here again.
I’ve been coming here since I was a teenager, but I haven’t been in years. It’s hasn’t changed - still wonderful! You walk into the door on the right and then order at the counter. Once you order, they give you and assigned table and a basket of the most amazing crunchy bread rounds. It all came back to me when I ordered the city secretary and the broccoli cheese soup was as good as I remembered. The fruit was fresh and sweet. The sandwich was a little plainer than I remembered (no avocado now), but it was still delicious. The dining room was divided into smaller rooms, and we sat in the back room. It was cozy, and our food came out just as we finished our bread!
First time here. The chicken salad sandwich was really good. It was really big. I ate half and took the other half home. My boyfriend ordered a poboy with a side of broccoli cheese soup. He also didn’t finish it and took half home. The spinach artichoke dip was really good. I loved the croutons they give you.
Great food, good service, great ambience. I've had take out as well especially during COVID. The food never disappoints and if you're gonna get a dessert all of them are exceptional@
Food was fresh. Overall priced for a Hamburger and fries $17. I didn't like the fries. They were like cold McDonald's style fries. Not my preference.
I can’t rate the place on food, the place is very popular and the wait time Was really long for lunch. If you have time on your hands and can don’t need to decide on what to order this is a great place. You look at the menu and look. You are not allowed to be seated at a table until you order. The order taker was very nice, restaurant was really clean. However, because it took time to figure out what we would like to eat, the line got longer and none checked back with us. We decided to leave. I will go back, and give a proper rating on the food.
This was a random pick. It's a cute place and was packed. The portions are huge and the bread they give you when you sit down is fabulous. It's a great brunch spot honestly. Next time I will try their salads because everyone there seemed to have one and they looked amazing! The pharmacy lemonade drink is DELICIOUS.
Had dinner with a group of friends. We had the back room which was private. They are known for their specialty salads and soups. Everyone who ordered from those choices were happy. I had a hamburger and it was just OK. The side of fries was very large. I will come again and try something different. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and it's easy to hold a conversation.
A really friendly and fun place to dine. Menu is a bit limited, but everything is prepared and served with a touch of country hospitality. Enjoy taking family and friends!
Sandy McGee's is a pretty decent spot for lunch. I ordered a $16 combo with chicken salad sandwich, spinach salad, and broccoli cheddar soup. It was all good food, but the price is a little steep - especially since the staff had forgotten my salad and my friend's chicken tortilla soup in the kitchen. It took a few minutes to flag someone down and the bartender ended up helping us out.
I love this cafe in downtown Richmond, Texas! It has a very cool and cozy vibe and the food is great too! All of their soups are awesome, but the tortilla and broccoli and cheddar are my favorite. The last time I was there, I ordered my usual, which I believe is called Anne's Plate or Annie's Plate (chicken salad, fresh fruit, and choice of soup). It's always amazing! The bread chips are bomb too!
One of our favorite places in Richmond. It truly has an old town atmosphere, the food is good, the service as well and very relaxing. A must if in the Richmond area.
This place is clearly popular and stays busy most days. They only accept reservations after 3 p.m., and by lunchtime the line is often out the door. They open at 10 a.m., and it’s best to arrive before 11 to avoid the lunch rush. While the food comes out fairly quickly, it does get crowded and finding a table can be challenging during peak hours. Parking is limited to street parking, though I was fortunate to arrive early and snag a spot right out front. I happened to be passing through town and stopped in while craving a cheeseburger—and it absolutely hit the spot. The carrot cake was massive, far larger than expected, and a pleasant surprise. It was moist, flavorful, and topped with the perfect cream cheese frosting. Several people waiting in line even commented on it after seeing my slice. Ordering is done at the counter; you’re given a number and seated at an assigned table. One small downside was the drink selection—I had hoped for root beer but found only Coke products, so I opted for water instead. Keep in mind tables are close together so you over beer other conversations. It’s loud due to the amount of people in one open area. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. The portion sizes are generous, the menu has great variety with appetizers and multiple entrée options, and I would definitely return to try a breakfast plate or a relaxed dinner.
If you ever stop in to eat you will NOT be disappointed the food is REALLY GOOD and HUGE servings. If you Order a Chicken Salad make sure you're HUNGRY/HANGRY because it's enough to serve 3 people. The Cuban Sandwich IS Perfection with savory taste and cheeses that melt in your mouth. It was a little quaint restaurant with character and nice environment. This is NOT a negative remark but rather a suggestion, and a recommendation, hence why I Rated 3 Stars for Atmosphere. On the side of the Main Entrance walk way, above the mirrors, way up top, there are 2 big brown-gold tone vases for decoration, that could use some cleaning. They have a lot of dust and I would hate to think that they've been collecting dust since '1986' or '1987' there's 2 different conflicting year dates, one on the wooden sign says 1987, outside says 1986, nonetheless, it looks like dust has been collecting since this was opened. They could use some cleaning up a bit, it would make a world of a difference. I only suggest this because if the vases ARE visible with dust, it might make one wonder (like myself) how clean is the kitchen behind the doors. Also, the chairs under the staircase look like a storage area, it seems as if care and attention is no longer being giving to the restaurant. A little TLC and a good cleaning can go a long way. Other than that I would definitely be back if in town and I'll definitely recommend this establishment to others.
Good food, good service. I was actually expecting less than what we got but it was so much better. Restaurant has a nice old antique atmosphere and we happen to ask our waitress if it was potentially haunted, she said there are unexplained things that happen so that's a fun fact. I'm all about spooky vibes. Loved it!
Asked 3 times for our crumb covered table to be wiped off to no avail. Napkins were dropped off.🙄 Onion rings were burnt. Rest of food, sandwiches, were ok.
I heard about this place, so I googled it and saw they had a Cuban sandwich on the menu. I've always wanted to try a Cuban sandwich, so I ordered it based on the reviews. The food came out hot and fresh with big portions. The fries were good and the sandwich was ok. It's hard to judge taste as this is my first Cuban sandwich. I'm not sure if I'd return due to the atmosphere. But to each it's own.
We really enjoyed the food however the fruit and house flies that were crawling all over the dessert display were pretty off-putting. I understand maybe a fly gets in now and then, but the fruit flies are another story as they usually live and breed in areas that aren’t cleaned consistently and thoroughly. Also, the fact that there was inconsistency with pricing was an issue for me. I asked for an ice water and was charged the same price as a soda, while my friend asked for no drink and was given a drink for free.
To-go service was awkward, the bartender was "busy" with his one and only patron to even look up and acknowledge me as I'm standing in front of his bar, waiting as per the instructions during check out. After a few minutes I was finally, half hurriedly acknowledged by the guy in the corner with his laptop. Maybe manager? He asked "what's it for?" Not who is it for, or what is the name? So I thought that was kind of weird. Made me feel like neither me nor my order were worth his time. The Philly Cheese Steak was just ok. It lacked flavor, or the justification of a $17 price tag. Jersey Mike's has a better Philly Cheese Steak and is only $11, and the service there is much better as well. Honestly I'm a bit disappointed. I'm all for supporting small business, especially one as well established as this place, but after my experience I won't be coming back. Maybe take some notes from Gino's Italian Joint next door. They checked all the boxes and I will be dining there again. And again.
Soup seemed a little commercial, broccoli cheese soup barely has broccoli. Chicken tortilla soup was just OK. The sandwiches were pretty good. Much of the clientele is an older crowd. Overall, it was OK.
Food was lackluster. Broccoli cheese soup was cool, not even slightly warm. Service cannot get much worse. Waited 10 min for wait staff to acknowledge us. When waiter finally arrived, they took the drink orders of the 2 men in our party and walked away without even acknowledging the 2 women sitting at the same table. Had to ask for a napkin 3x and when they finally brought something to the table, it was a paper towel ripped unevenly from the roll. Will not return.
. I need to have this corrected. I ate at Sandy McGee’s on May 14. As I placed my order and paid for it I made a mistake on the tip amount. Roxy printed me out a new receipt with the correct amount however the overcharge of $400 is still on my credit card.
One thing I must say about this restaurant is the food was good. A little on the salty side though. But it was still tasty. The first time I went, we had subpar service. We walked in and no one greeted us. We had to go to the bar to ask if we were to be seated or if someone wants to see us. And then someone came and helped us. But it took a while. The second time I ordered something to go, and when I went to pick it up, kind of the same thing no one greeted me and I had to go to the bar to ask for for my order and was rerouted back to the front desk. When the young lady came, she was very loud talking to the other employees and was shouting all over the restaurant, talking to them over me. Very rude. She never actually greeted me. She just walked up to the counter and asked if I needed to be seated. When I told her I was there for a pick up order, she shouted to someone in the back if the order was ready, they apparently didn’t hear her so she walked to the back and got it. When I got ready to leave, she never thanked me or said anything have a nice day or something. The entire staff needs lessons on customer service. I noticed that the first time we were there. Kind of strange atmospheric attitudes.
Paid 62 dollars for a sandwich and a burger oh and a Mexican brownie idk what was mexican about it but they didn't even ask me how I wanted my burger cooked they just gave me a dry patty. They also charged for having 6 people in our party. With that much I could've bought 2 steak meals at saltgrass.
I ordered a Burger with Blue Cheese and grilled onions. I forgot to askvto cook to medium and received well done. It was dry and asked for steak sauce. The waiter said No is rushed off. He could of suggested something else so I couldn't enjoy my dry burger. I ate the Onions Rings and left the burger. It was a waste of $22.00. Nice restaurant and plenty of parking.
The staff member that works at the bar is extremely rude. Bad customer service. I will never return to this restaurant.
Horrible service or not even acknowledgement to be served. The manager on staff -was just as bad like he couldn’t care less. This establishment depends on the community to thrive -but with the service tonight I don’t know how they will or can. There are numerous places to choose from. Definitely will continue to share the horrible service and experience with others without a hesitation.
The food was cold, the chicken was hard the service was not good my mom and I waited for a whole hour to get a burger and chicken sandwich! While everyone that came after us got their food. It was until we got up to ask for our food that were were able to get our food with no apology!
Two of us ordered Southwest Grilled Chicken Salads today. On both plates, the chicken was so dry that my friend choked on a piece, it was so tough. At that point, we requested that the chicken be replaced. To pass the time, we ate some of the remaining salads, though to be honest, though the servings looked more than generous, most of each serving was just a huge quantity of assorted lettuce leaves. When the new chicken arrived, we boxed it to take it home, as time was now against us. Guess what?…Yes—the re-ordered chicken is just as tough and overcooked as the first lot! Totally inedible. May I also add that, as I dislike seafood intensely, I was disappointed that the tough chicken also tasted somewhat fishy, so I strongly suspect that their chicken is cooked on the same grill as their shrimp. I will not be returning to this establishment, though I must point out that our servers were very polite at all times.
