Super! Ci ritorno sempre volentieri Da provare assolutamente
Excellent, carefully prepared dishes. Excellent value for money. The service is equally impressive. In addition to the starters and main courses, the desserts are also worth trying.
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had in Piemonte, service is iconic … made by the two sisters that owes the place (3rd generation or so…) … food tastes spectacular and the wine list is very good!
We visited this restaurant for lunch during the week and were pleasantly surprised by the tranquility of the place and the hospitality of Mrs. Cinzia, an extremely kind person who was attentive to our every need. For starters, we ordered the tagliolini with mushrooms and the pasta with black truffle: both dishes were truly delicious, with generous portions and beautifully presented. For our second course, we had the fried mushrooms, crispy and light, truly delicious. We couldn't finish everything, and they kindly offered to pack up what was left: a gesture we greatly appreciated, also demonstrating concern for food waste. Finally, the desserts: delicious! I absolutely recommend this place, we will definitely be back. Fabulous!
I hadn't been to this place for a few years, and as always in these cases, you fear that something has changed. To my great joy, I found that the service and quality are still top-notch. I arrived with the firm intention of "killing myself" with mushrooms 🍄, and my wish was granted. On the classic menu, which also includes dishes with truffles—another signature dish of the Cavo sisters—there was a free page featuring all the porcini mushroom-based dishes... I felt like a child discovering that Santa Claus had brought him exactly what he'd written in his letter! Unfortunately, since I couldn't order everything, after much deliberation, I settled on the tagliolini with porcini mushrooms, followed by a plate containing a generous slice of the wonderful mushroom cake (only here, since forever, do they make it this good, but above all, authentic...) paired with sublime fried porcini mushrooms. My fellow traveler, on the other hand, dedicated himself not only to tagliarini but also to a plate of fried porcini mushrooms, which was undoubtedly plentiful. At the next table, with a heavy heart, I watched a wonderful roast beef with porcini mushrooms being brought in. It will definitely be the dish I'll try next time. For wine, we chose an honest, lively Barbera from Caffè Musa, but perhaps I should have opted for a La Monella, which is definitely more full-bodied. For dessert, I indulged in a local sweet treat: Voltaggio amaretti biscuits with a flute of passito wine, and a homemade licorice amaretta. All for €96.00 for two people. What more can I say, except that the place is elegantly understated and welcoming, and the service is impeccable. Even if Voltaggio, especially for those coming from Genoa in the evening, is not exactly easy to reach (during the day, especially if the weather is good then it is a nice trip), for the quality, the care and let's face it (we are Genoese) for the price, I strongly recommend this place, which remains in the main (and only) street of the town.
Fabulous! There were six of us and we tried different dishes (mushroom tagliolini, fried mushrooms, mushrooms and potatoes, tartare with porcini mushrooms, etc.), all of which were exceptional. The homemade bread was delicious, the service was fast, and the staff was very friendly. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to, especially in recent times when the quality is generally low and the prices high. We'll definitely be back, all six of us.
First of all, I have to say that the tagliolini with mushrooms were SPECTACULAR. Fresh homemade pasta that morning, the mushroom sauce was incredibly flavorful. Divine. We arrived in a large group of almost eighty people for an event organized by my association. The four waiters who served us appetizers, two first courses, a second course with side dish, dessert, coffee, and grappa (not to mention wine and water) were formidable in their service, smiling, attentive, and very good at managing the entire crew. The cooks (including the owner) brought out very good and well-executed dishes from the kitchen, including fried panissa, tagliolini, Fassona roast beef, and cheese pastries. But my favorites, besides the pasta, were the rice and mushroom tart and the typical Voltaggio amaretti biscuits. The place is cute, clean, and welcoming. We left feeling extremely happy and satisfied (in fact, the wine was refilled to taste—a Gavi (white) and a Dolcetto (red)). Highly recommended! Lots of patience and dedication.
I'd been here several times when I was young (a thousand years ago) and had fond memories of it. Being in the area with family, this thought came to mind, and we booked a lunch. What can I say... it not only confirmed the sensations I remembered but, thanks to the palate that refines with age, it also improved my opinion. Extremely kind and attentive service. Excellent food, good mushrooms (we wait for the right season to appreciate the freshest ones), tagliolini with black truffle, amazing in their simplicity. I also look forward to returning here for a nice slice of white truffle. I will definitely be back again and again and highly recommend it.
Wonderful, classy place, excellent service, and very helpful, smiling, and polite staff. The food is refined but not overdone. The appetizers to start are highly recommended—in fact, I'd say it's mandatory. For four of us, feasting (with wine), we spent about €55 each. Highly recommended.
On the recommendation of friends, we came to this well-known restaurant in the area. We were warmly welcomed by a very kind lady, and the food was spectacular...in terms of cooking, flavor, and uniqueness of the dishes, with satisfying portions. The only flaw was the awkward cutlery, which made eating difficult...hence the 4-star ambience. We'll definitely return; it's among the best, if not the best, in the area.
Disclaimer: I'm not much of a meat fan. I decided to celebrate my birthday here because I saw that the menu mostly featured mushrooms, truffles, and, of course, meat. I opened the menu and discovered that there was only one first course featuring mushrooms, tagliolini (which I ordered, and they were very good). I asked the waiter, who was always very kind, about it, and he told me it was no longer in season... Okay, I wasn't expecting fried mushrooms, but considering the menu and the many reviews I read about mushroom dishes, I expected more dishes... Too bad! An entire menu was all about truffles, but no more mushrooms. Perhaps specifying that the menu was only available during peak season would have been appreciated. So I decided to order the 6-piece appetizer, which was good... and, of course, tagliolini. The atmosphere was nice and elegant. The house wine was fine.
