This is a wonderful restaurant! It was recommended by a friend and we are so glad we visited. We spent time here on a trip to San Antonio. The restaurant is spotless. It has an atmosphere rich with history, wonderful photos, AND it houses a bakery as well! We arrived with a party of 8, and we were greeted, seated, and served with a smile. The drinks we amazing, our food was piping hot, and we had a great time. This is a great place to get great food! The prices were just right as well. The menu has plenty of options as well.
Maria was amazing while served my family if 5!! The flavors are rich and food was hot. There was no wait time on a Saturday night. This place is slept on. We will be back!
Best breakfast in town I've been coming to San Antonio since I was a kid. My wife found this diamond I will always make this a place stop when we are in town.. tamales, menudo to the omelets to the deserts man look first visit not the last. If you come make sure you do brunch . Im so fat full right lol best place great service and again comfortable
Truly a great establishment! Great food, great service and reasonably priced. Gerardo is the star of this place. He was very welcoming, hospitable and friendly. I think was the Manager or the chef going around ensuring that everything was going well. Kudos to him for going above and beyond. He even gave my in-laws some free pan dulce for their 61 year wedding anniversary. Now that was icing on the cake! I highly recommend this place to anyone for anytime or anytime event!! Thank you Mi Familia! We will be back!!
I loved the food! As well as the decor and what this restaurant stands for! It’s very cultural and the waiters are very professional and polite. This restaurant wowed me! The drinks hands down are very strong and you’re not paying for sugar, you’re actually getting a drink. Also the music they play is appropriate, not reggaeton, they put the right Mexican music. Who wants to hear reggaeton while eating smh lately I’ve been hearing that in restaurants like no! They play Pedro infante and what I call classic tejano and other variety of good Mexican music. This is probably the best restaurant I’ve been in my entire lifetime. I loved everything about it. They also had this beautiful altar in the front for dia de Los Muertos it was worth my time. I enjoyed it with my family 😊
Very delicious enchiladas rice beans so dang good servers did great job my bro will did surprise birthday song every thing was awesome Budweiser big red enchilada rice beans so good
First time here. The food was amazing. My husband and I got the fajitas and it was enough for both of us. He said the charro beans and rice were the bomb. Service was excellent. Heriberto was especially nice. 👍👍 way up!
Likely the most consistent service of any restaurant. Every single staff member is attentive, friendly, and accommodating. The food is fantastic and a fun, family friendly atmosphere. Clearly the food and service starts at the top…management is so engaging and ensuring your experience is a 10. Highly recommended!
On our way out of san antonio, we stopped here for lunch. It was the best decision we made the whole trip. Everyone was smiling and in good spirits. The decor is amazing. History everywhere on the walls. There was so much to see. Very stimulating. The food was delicious. With great portions. I like the plating style. My plate, as well as my wife and daughters' plates, were all exemplary. The icing on the cake was the bakery. Oh wow, everything they offloaded so amazing. I wanted 1 of everything. What i got was so good. Fresh moist and tasty. This will be our first stop our next trip to san antonio. Thank you to everyone who worked the day of our visit.
I LOVED this restaurant. It's in a great location not too close to the craziness of the Rim. The decor is beautiful and at Christmas they go all out! The atmosphere is very nice with occasional live entertainment. Antonio Quintero was our waiter, and he was so attentive, polite, and careful while serving. The food was delicious with generous servings and the pan dulce with a little cafecito really hit the spot! Highly recommend!
We were at La Familia at The Rim for the salsa night they have there now on Fridays. Mi Familia at The Rim offers a taste of downtown San Antonio in far north west San Antonio. The restaurant is beautifully designed in a historic Mexican style and decorated with memorabilia from La Familia Cortez's long history as a restaurateurs at the heart of San Antonio's Market Square. Mi Familia at the Rim offers a great place to have a satisfying Mexican meal or to get together with friends for for a drink, and appetizers.
Love coming to this place. Always so welcoming. Our server Chloe is always so helpful and attentive and it’s always fun chatting with Rudy when he checks up on our table. Highly recommend this place. Great food and not overpriced.
Incredible place, the atmosphere is so homey. It’s delicious food and excellent service. Adrian is one of the best servers. Very friendly and attentive
Was recommended to try here. Glad we did. The food was above average. The atmosphere was great. Really good margaritas of several flavors. Salsa was lacking a little bit of heat for my taste but was still good. They also have a pastry counter inside of the restaurant with all types of freshly baked Mexican treats. Delicioso.
I have just recently went public on my reviews just so I could make sure people get to be more informed on what’s out on the map. I’m a regular in Mi Familia and brought friends and family here! Service always go above and beyond and the food! I’m not much of a foodie fusion. Mi Familia has authentic Spanish dishes I brag about we have here in San Antonio. Having the Rim location makes it even more appealing to come than go downtown where it’s much crowded. Don’t get me wrong, make your reservations here. The word is out. Mi Familia is on of my best go to restaurants.
From the Mi Tierra Family with a more Mexico City flare, anything you try is very good, the menudo is a must, the salsas are delicious, the cream and cheese enchiladas so tasty and the chile relleno with beef too. Then you can indulge with pan dulce afterwards. Also live piano and accordion for a great experience plus the place is beautiful, it also has a patio for dining.
We had such a wonderful time at Mi Familia. Our server, Ami was friendly, attentive, and refreshingly authentic. The food came out quickly and did not disappoint - the tortillas were fresh and the food was delicious. The manager told us about the weekend brunch and will definitely return.
Great experience. While busy, service was faster than expected. The food was enjoyable. We tried a couple of different combo plates to sample a bit of everything. Fajitas were super tender and well seasoned. Enchiladas were delicious. Refritos were amazing. Recommend for out of town guests.
Let me start By saying. When we got there the 3 young ladies at the front ( Hostess) Weren’t very friendly. All of a Sudden . A older gentleman in a Blue shirt . Popped in our Conversation and made us feel Very Welcome. Food was Delicious our Waitress. Was awesome MyRa I think was her name. But Those Young ladies at the Entrance. Need Customer Service Skills .
We were here last December 25th with my family for dinner, The food was good, I got: Caldo Maya, it was delicious, I raised the bowl to get the last of the tortilla soup, my sisters got the Poblano Dinner, It was so tasty and 🔥 spicy, my daughter and brother in law got the: Enchiladas Verdes and they cleaned the whole plates. I will give you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ well deserved golden stars guys, see you soon ❗
This place is heaven on earth for brunch on the weekend with a delicious spread of food from menudo to enchiladas to omelettes. The mexican drinks such as horchata and agua de jamaica were great and the service was impeccable. We had Enrique as our server and he was very polite and informative and always made sure our drinks were filled. Enrique and the delicious food here are the reasons we will be back to dine here again.
There’s no lack for Mexican food in San Antonio for sure. So, it can make your choice difficult. After a quick search we found Mi Familia at the Rim. Thought we’d give them a try. It was Saturday night so we figured they would be busy, they were. There wasn’t a single place to park left in the lot, so we parked over at Lowe’s, short walk. We thought maybe we’d be stuck waiting over an hour for a seat, but we were wrong. They seated us right away. Very soon after they took our orders and we didn’t wait too long for our food to show up either. The food was fantastic, among the best we’ve had. Service was awesome too, we never had to wonder where our waitress was. She was pleasant and attentive. It ended up being a very wonderful night for my family and I I would definitely come here again. They are among the best.
Mi Familia feels like home in a plate. I love the food and the service is always wonderful. They have some of the best quesadillas I know of. I enjoy all of the food and the atmosphere is incredible! I love coming to Mi Familia and seeing Sandy she is always a very attentive waitress and helpful to our family! Mi familia really makes you feel like family 😊
Thank you Mi Familia for being very accommodating and friendly when we had a walk in group. The food was also very delicious with generous portions. Maria, our server, did a wonderful job. They even sat us in a private room and it was perfect.
For a Tuesday evening, it was slow. Everything on the menu is good, no matter what you pick it’s all good. The enchiladas are enough for two, if you’re planning to order some bake goods. The bake goods are billed separately. The rice was nice and fluffy. The refried beans were okay. We got some concha for breakfast the next day. I was really hoping that they have some empanadas, looks like they were sold out, The booths have usb plug so you can recharge your cellphone. Much rather have a power outlet, that way I am sure that there is no access to my cellphone.
The charm of the downtown original is recreated wonderfully here, from it’s bustling staff, many fountains, beautiful decor, and shiny hanging flags on the ceiling. The mini bakery is a great touch to add like the original. There’s plants of room and no worries about parking out here! The staff was attentive, friendly, and great in helping celebrate a birthday dinner we were there for. The food is the same quality as the one downtown. Give a good look to the artwork in the room, especially the mural in progress in one of the larger rooms!

This is my second time coming here, and the service, food, and atmosphere really make MI Familia a fun place to dine. Our server, Ashlyn, was amazing. She really went out of her way to make our dinner fun, and give us the best possible experience. Mi Tierra is a San Angonio staple, but if you don't feel like waiting in line, MI Familia, their sister restaurant, is definitely worth checking out. And if you do decide to give it a shot, ask for Ashlyn!
Had a wonderful late lunch with a very good nice waiter. Atmosphere fun with many cool photos on the walls, a colorful decorative ceiling. Attire can be casual or dressy. Menu is broad. Food was great with quick service. Spacious seating. Booths include USB Plugs. Entertainment on Wednesday nights. Happy hour M-F 3:30-6:30. Bar is separate from dining area & has a large patio for outside dining. The bakery has a great selection. Overall, good place for a date, family dining, party drinks & any combination. They also have their historic location downtown at Market Street.
My third time coming here. Just had the breakfast buffet. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time, especially the flautas, tacos de asada, chicharron, chilaquiles, a corn mix that taste like street corn, and finish off with coffee and delicious sweet bread. Paulina was our server, very kind, attentive and likeable.
Thank you to the Cortez family for yet another great addition to their family restaurants. Awesome customer service, great placement of tables and open walk spaces for dining room tables. Private rooms, outdoor patio sections and areas available for more personal dining experiences. Shout out to table server, Eric for making our time here a memorable one. Food is just the right size to enjoy and not leave being rolled out 😆 But sure they would still accommodate if need be! Enjoy the photos of the inside and outside areas and food from our service. See you guys again soon!
You have to use a QR code to get the vegetarian menu, but worth it. Get the spinach/artichoke enchiladas with the red pepper cream sauce. They're fabulous. Ate there twice in 14 hours.
Sandy G. was absolutely amazing from start to finish! Friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm, she made our entire dining experience feel special. She had such a positive attitude the whole time. It’s rare to find great service these days — she truly went above and beyond. We’ll definitely be back because of her! I'll be recommending my friends and family to her!
This is hands down one of the best mexican restaurants in town!! I visited recently and the layout of the restaurant, the decor, the space, service, food.... everything is top tier! The beef fajitas for two was the perfect amount of food including leftovers. Paired with a house margarita on the rocks 👌 The restaurant was not too loud or crowded on a saturday night as well. Will most definitely be returning to try their other dishes and pastries. 10/10!
This is hands down the best service I’ve ever received. Our waiter Rafael is what made this experience worth every penny. Respectful, on point, always checking on us, just being an amazing server. If y’all come here you have to ask for Rafael!!!!
We have always had amazing service and the wait staff have been awesome. Mr Lopez does an amazing job of making us feel at home. The breakfast Buffett is awesome! Definitely going back many times!
First time here and we were very impressed! Hospitality, staff & food was wonderful! My waiter Zeyd was so available & exceptional! Manager & I think the head cook came to chat and welcome us! Live music & we couldn’t resist getting a song by the mariachis which was sooo awesome! My husband loved the menudo/buffet which is everything you could want. I had a plate which was perfect ! It certainly was a great find & can’t wait to be back !
We were celebrating my daughters birthday and it was the perfect scenery, Christmas tree so beautiful. Service was excellent. Our waitress serviced us with care, outstanding service. We enjoyed our dinner. My daughter had a great time. Thank you all so much
Mi Familia at The Rim creates a world entirely its own a vibrant, immersive celebration of culture that feels "like no other." The Cortez family has curated a space where the warmth of Market Square meets the polish of the North Side. But while the piñatas and lights set the stage, it is the kitchen that delivers the real performance. The Masterpiece: Ribeye a la Tampiqueña Ordering the Ribeye a la Tampiqueña here is not just ordering dinner; it is witnessing the elevation of a classic. The Masterpiece: Ribeye a la Tampiqueña Ordering the Ribeye a la Tampiqueña here is not just ordering dinner; it is witnessing the elevation of a classic. The Texture: This was far removed from the chewy, thin cuts often served in this style. The ribeye was a revelation of tenderness expertly seared to lock in juices, yet yielding effortlessly to the knife. It offered that rare, high-end "melt in your mouth" quality usually reserved for top-tier steakhouses, not casual family dining. The plate was a symphony of textures and temperatures. The rich, savory char of the premium beef provided the bass note, perfectly harmonizing with the accompanying enchilada (likely draped in that tangy tomatillo sauce you noted). The contrast between the robust, meaty steak and the bright, creamy elements on the plate turned every bite into a luxurious experience. Mi Familia takes the humble Tampiqueña and dresses it in a tuxedo. They proved that Mexican comfort food can stand toe-to-toe with fine dining when treated with this level of respect and quality ingredients. It wasn't just a meal; it was a standard-setter.
From the moment we stepped into this restaurant, we were greeted with a smile and a welcoming vibe. The owner happened to be there. Was quite engaging, his leadership qualities were evidenced by the manner in which his staff maintains a friendly demeanor and demonstate a desire to provide the best service to their patrons. The restaurant decor was festive and given the impending Christmas holiday, the music added to the overall atmosphere. Delicious mexican style breakfast. When we are in the area, will definitely return to enjoy dinner and cocktails. Respectfully submitted, Sarah & George
We had such an amazing time tonight for dinner and we always do when we come here! Our waiter was super funny and attentive and pleasant. The food came out quickly and was DELICIOUS. We had the soup and two different types of enchiladas. We took a trip to the bakery at the end of the night, where we got to interact with the manager who was so kind and generous to my son and our family. He even introduced us to the owner and his best friend, who were equally as kind and generous to our family. It is warm and welcoming and festive every time we come here. We are excited to go back for the brunch menu!
When we arrived, it was really packed and people were waiting outside. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait for 2 and we got the text our table was ready after about 4 minutes of waiting. The atmosphere is great! Nice, live music. They have a buffet and a nice bakery as well. Everything was good and came out in a timely manner. We ordered the Enchiladas Verdes and the Deluxe Mexican Dinner with a mimosa and margarita. The drinks were delicious and strong. I will definitely return and try the buffet and get a few things at the bakery next time!
A Culinary Ascendancy: The Triumph of Mi Familia To dine at Mi Familia is to witness not just a meal, but the blossoming of a new standard for San Antonio's revered culinary landscape. The restaurant has transcended its celebrated roots, evolving into a beacon of modern Mexican dining, largely thanks to the inspired direction of Gerardo Carvajal and David Cortez. Their partnership is a masterful orchestration of tradition and vision. Gerardo, a profound representative of Mexican culinary heritage, ensures every dish is grounded in authenticity and passion. This reverence for the past is beautifully complemented by David’s forward-thinking approach, which elevates the entire guest experience, from the vibrant ambiance to the impeccable service. Together, they are not merely running a restaurant; they are charting a course for culinary excellence. The meticulous attention to detail, the warm embrace of hospitality, and the sheer quality of the cuisine combine to create a singular, unforgettable destination. It is clear that the combined genius of Gerardo Carvajal and David Cortez is quickly positioning Mi Familia to be recognised as one of the very best establishments San Antonio has ever known. This is a true display of gastronomic and cultural stewardship that the city should celebrate.
My first time here & definitely wont be my last. We went on Saturday for the buffet and it was marvelous. ALL the food was DELICIOUS! The hospitality was top tier. They are were so welcoming and many employees stopped by to talk to us. I dont just eat anyone's menudo and tamales but these we good. I cant wait to go back soon from Houston.
Today would have been my parents 58th Anniversary. We lost our mother last year which took a toll on all of us. As we walked in, the hostess already made us inviting. As we sitting down, Adrian was our server and recommended several dishes. Bean and cheese nachos was our appetizer and I ordered Cameron’s de aho. We finished with Pam Dulce. The entire staff was awesome and turned out a great experience with the manager coming by our table. I strongly recommend Mi Familia and ask for Adrian. Thank you all.
We came for the brunch buffet, it is amazingly delicious! The chilaquile and omelette bar was top notch. Green pozole, enchiladas, pancakes, sweet bread, fruit etc was all super fresh and tasty. Above the food was the awesome feeling of Family! All the staff was so kind and friendly. Rudy Lopez, Gerardo Carvajal, Manuela, Chloe, and Ruben Cortez, you really made us feel so welcome! Thank you for the experience and thank you for the food!
The service was great. Attentive and helpful. There was no wait at 7:30 but it was pretty full. My husband had the steak and enchiladas, I had chicken fajitas and nachos. All was good. Didn’t try the margaritas but they had a nice selection. They have booths, tables, bar and outdoor seating.
Sunday buffet... Wow!!! Everything was delicious from the cheese enchildas, home style Mexican rice, menudo, server ms. Morales did a great for our large family gathering of 17. Mariachi music was professional and authentic. Highly recommend visiting this gem. Wish I could post more photos, but was enjoying the food.
Absolutely stunning restaurant and great atmosphere. Service was superb, on point and staff were very friendly. Was greeted as soon as we walked into the restaurant and were seated right away. The server Ramon, was very friendly and helped us choose from the selections on the menu. Had the Queso Flameado for an appetizer which was really good, the chorizo was great quality and the tortillas and made with love. Highly recommend this place!
A group of us met there early which was good since 1604 construction has been a pinch in everybody's arm. But since we met there early we were able to avoid that. But leaving, as I headed back down towards town, the other side of the freeway was back-to-back traffic. Most not moving. They had tables set up outside with all kinds of things for sell- crafty and fiesta driven. We were fortunate enough to just walk right in and get our table but for those people that came a little later they do have some outdoor seating. If you wait outside. They also have chips and I think it was lemonade for those people waiting. Maria was incredible. She was everything to all of us. I would ask for her and tip her heavy LOL. We never wanted for anything. Two of us in this group decided to try the buffet. And two others ordered breakfast plates while one ordered two tacos. The buffet was geared more at brunch and lunch with very little breakfast sprinkled here and there. The elote (corn) was Rich and delicious. My friend said it was a little spicy. I did not think so. The baked chicken /fajitas were A bit challenging to cut with a butter knife but let me tell you the flavor was there and once you separated it, see pictures, it just melted in your mouth. Tamales were okay, I have my favorite place for tamales so it's hard to beat those, but these were good. I have to say though, I don't think my grandmother could have picked up that lid on the pot where the tamales were. It was one of those old fashioned made out of solid iron pots. We never made it to the outside brunch buffet selections nor did we make it to the omelette station. And we didn't even make it for salads or desserts. So obviously there's at least three good reasons there for us to go back LOL. I had to do a close-up shot of the bacon on my friend's plate. It looked really good and I must have had a look on my face because they finally offered me a piece LOL. A little tough but well worth the flavor. The friend that ordered the tacos ended up ordering another taco because they were on the small side. We enjoyed the flour tortillas. And the 50 gallons of coffee that we drank were perfect. Especially because Maria was keeping us full and afloat. All in all I see a return somewhere down the road probably when they fix the road LOL

So delicious and authentic. Wonderful vibe with mariachis. We had such a delicious breakfast that we went back for dinner.

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. So much attention to detail was paid. The entryway resembles an Old Mission everything along with the Saint and the Bells. Once you get in you're greeted by very friendly and bubbly employees. The bakery itself is chock-full of incredible treats, but I must admit that $2 for a small Empanada is a bit steep. However, it was delicious! For lunch I ordered the sour cream enchiladas and my daughter ordered the chicken flautas. We were both surprised there was no chips or salsa at the table. We thought maybe they forgot about us or possibly they just don't come unless asked for. The enchiladas were okay, but I knew they were missing spice and that's when I requested a hotter salsa. It made a huge difference. The beans to me were fantastic. My daughter described the flautas as boring. Regardless, I will definitely go there again. If we ever have out-of-town visitors this will be one of the places I will take them. It's a bit touristy, but it's still fun.
The food was pretty good. But it was loud as hell with the live musician/singer and difficult to focus on anything else, much less enjoy the music because it was so loud in such a small area where he was set up. Because of that we ate as fast as we could and left quickly.
First, the michelada was good and worth getting. They had large portions, but also they were a little bit pricier for Mexican fair. I am not this genres biggest fan, though, so my thought is this and why I gave it only 4 stars. It's real simple logic. If I can get a steak, which is a better cut of meat for less, then I get frustrated, and I can't give them 5 stars. People who love Mexican food would probably rate them 5 stars. Me giving them 4 for a style of food I am not a huge fan of says quite a bit on how great the restaurant is though and if you even kinda like Mexican food then this is a must try.
Food is great as is the service, but it’s too loud in there with the live music and everyone talking loud to make themselves heard. We will not be going back Saturday or Sunday for breakfast until live music is gone. To make matters worse there are speakers set up around seating areas to hear the musicians.
We went here on a weekend for dinner. The place was busy and we had to wait for about 15 minutes before we could be seated. The restaurant itself is huge with abundant seating both indoor and outdoor. The ambiance is very warm and celebratory. They were following all COVID-19 safety protocols. The dinner menu has been shortened post COVID-19 and there are limited options offered. For drinks, we tried the Beer-Rita and Paloma. Both were delicious, but they were priced higher than average for the quality, so we didn't find them value for money. Chips and salsa were served complementary. We ordered a small serving of the queso which was average. We ordered the chicken mole enchiladas, which were really good! Again, the portion size was less, so wouldn't say that it was value for money, but the taste was great! They also have fresh baked goods, but we didn't try any. All in all, great taste, ambiance and service, but a little expensive for the portion sizes and quality of drinks, so not value for money.
This place was beautiful and had wonderful atmosphere. Chips were stale and flavorless, like packing peanuts. The margaritas were great but don't don't crazy with the other alcohol it was overly strong. The prices are more expensive than other nearby restaurants and the service was lengthy. I ordered grilled chicken carbon. My plate came with the chicken which was very flavorful and all around good, as well as seasoned potatoes that were undercooked and not seasoned just covered in cheese. The refried beans are Excellent. Good experience overall. With improvements this could really be a 5 star restaurant!
Atmosphere here is loud when you’re in certain rooms. Food was good but typical. The Meat was flavored perfectly, enchiladas were great and the beans extremely delicious. The rice was a little under cooked. Now the margarita was super strong I only had one and it kicked in right away. Definitely would recommend checking out their happy hour here.
Great atmosphere and service. Staff was very attentive and met our every need inspite of us being an extremely large group. The outdoor area was very nice, but when we went the fountain / water area was not working. I imagine when the water is going, it is even more captivating. The meals felt very high end and uniquely flavored.
Food was good but took a while. I was not impressed with the tortillas or queso appetizer. Lemonade is fresh and on point. Service could use some improvement. I really liked the decor and ample room between tables. Now the pan dulce area? They have a good selection. I'll be taking a few pieces with me.
The brunch was ok, it was in warmers but by the time you got to your table it was cold. The menudo was too garlicky and bland at the same time. The atmosphere was amazing with the mariachis playing everywhere. The farmers market out side was superb.
Been here a few times with groups of 4-6 on weekdays for dinner. We've never had to wait more than a couple minutes for a table. It seems to be hit or miss with them quality-wise and service-wise. Most recent time the food came out quickly and hot, while the previous two times service was very slow and some of the dishes were warm at best. The food itself generally tastes fine with their beans being rated as better than their rice by most of our party.
First time visiting here, traveling, recommended by our family. This apparently is the second location patterned after the restaurant downtown. It is quite colorful with an authentic Mexican vibe. The service was very good. Everyone's orders came out exactly as ordered even though three in our group required substitutions or deletions because of dietary restrictions. The food quality overall was quite good although the mole seemed to have a bit too much cinnamon. It's in a safe area within The Rim business area with plenty of parking. Will return when we come through San Antonio again.

There are some rather terrible Mexican restaurants in San Antonio, and I wouldn't say this eatery is the worst, but let's just say it could be a contender. First the scene. The restaurant is the br…
1st time here went for their 1st year anniversary to drink the $1.00 margaritas. Wait time was about 20 minutes with reservation. We got a piece of cake and a sample of a Jalapeños Pineapple drink. We ordered 2 $1.00 Margaritas on the rocks but tasted like watered down Margaritas. Our food took a little bit long because we got the wrong order so the waiter had to take it back and get us the right plate and when we finally got our food was just warm like if it had been sitting out there. Our waiter was friendly, we named him Alejandro cause we didn't get his name but then on the receipt we saw his name was Manuel. Chips were alittle hard and salsa was very pasty and needed salt. My paloma drink was strong though I liked it. The Dos XX beer rita was suppose to be frozen but was mostly on the rocks. My party liked the Sopaipilla the most. The restaurant itself was very nice and welcoming. Loved all the Christmas and Mexican decorations.
I came here with some folks from work for dinner. There was plenty of parking in the lot out front which was great and the location huge. I got there a little earlier than everyone else so sat at the bar for a little bit. The happy hour specials were good for food, however they didn't offer any well drink specials. But a gin and soda is typically only $6 anyway so it was quite reasonable. The dinner menu was huge and it was so hard to made a decision. I ended up choosing the shrimp fajitas and ordered a botana platter for the table. The botana platter was good and all the food was well prepared and hot. However my fajitas were a little disappointing. The shrimp didn't even come with onions and peppers (which I always picture with fajitas) and they didn't have much seasoning. Even the side of guacamole didn't have enough salt added to it. The service was decent, a little slow but they were very busy. Overall it was alright visit.
The food here is never consistent. The service is always lacking, like they're just willing to get food on the table; maybe what you even ordered. The worst part is walking through all the market stalls that have a bunch of cheap stuff for sale. It doesn't have the cache of an actual market with interesting things; it's just crowding the entrance to the restaurant.
Beautiful restaurant, I’m glad they brought some of the designs from the original location downtown. The hanging flags and artwork are great unlike the service, went there for breakfast and it wasn’t very busy but we only saw the waiter twice, once to drop off the food and once for the check. We ran out of drinks halfway through our meal and were only offered refills when we got the bill. The food was tasty but the price to high the small portions when compared to other Mexican restaurants. The bakery items were good and the girl behind the counter knew what she was talking about so that a plus. Will probably only return for the bakery.
This is a very fancy, huge and well decorated restuarant. Every wall is very well designed and the ambience feels very happy. They are following social distancing, mask mandate and other safely guidelines. The servers are very friendly and make you feel comfortable. The entire menu is in Spanish with English descriptions, but sometimes that is not enough to understand, however, the servers help you understand. The menu is available by scanning the QR code but it's very slow. We ordered the dosa Rita and Paloma. They are expensive for the quality was okay, I was expecting the margarita to be more strong and flavourful but it did not meet the expectations. They serve chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh. We ordered the queso as well and it was not that great. Their mole enchiladas are the much recommend ones. They were amazing as their mole sauce is very good, along with the beans and rice it tastes amazing. The quality is not that much. Overall the value for money and the quality is good. It's a good place for hangouts with friends and family.
This place is huge, good for large groups and families. They went all out with interior detail, however, the food I found was a bit lacking. The borracho beans looked good but had no flavor tasted like water and red onions. The rice was bland and flavorless. The fish tacos I ate had a hint of flavor but not enough to save the dish. I feel this is my least favorite Mexican establishment in 2025. If your expecting authentic flavor this may not be your place.

I love eating out, trying new places. This is second time I tried to give this place a chance. Both times were horrible however this one was the worst in both food/service: Cleanliness- Tables were very clean, atmosphere was very nice, Restrooms very clean!! I really loved how clean those Restrooms were, especially with my medical needs. Price- Overpriced compared to portion size of food, very expensive. Food- Had no taste, very little on the plate, very expensive and poor quality. I ordered the cheese enchiladas this time around thinking it was "safe". They burnt the tips of the enchiladas, smothered it in tasteless sauce and weak on the beans/rice sides. My grandmother gave me one of her tamales to try. It was horribly dry and still had husk/bone pieces from the pork. Both my grandmother and myself are sick with diarrhea. (Hence why writing this in the middle of night). By the way if order Guacamole they fill it with all shredded lettuce and top it with small amount of Guacamole. Service- The cleaning staff/busers were extremely nice enjoyed conversations with them. However the waitress staff appeared very irritated/stressed. Even our waitress was short with us, when I asked for water/help was told to "wait" then she went to person right next to me who orders water and she writes that one down instead. She then came back to me asked what I wanted , said water .. in the end I didn't want to bother her since she appared stressed. Manager Incident- My mom asked the waitress for a To-Go container. Before my mom went to the restroom she had her plate of barely touched food prepared for the To-Go container. As mentioned before the Cleaning/Busers are very nice and very efficient. Unfortunately they mistakenly picked up the food while my mom was gone so when my mom came back she let waitress know. Floor Manager JC came over and when starting to explain the situation he immediately said he can replace meal but there will be a charge. Even after re-explaining what occurred it was not until I pulled out my phone to record the conversation he changed his tune. A few moments later I walked to bakery to look at the baked goods. I guess floor manager JC did not realize I was near because in the back I could hear him talking to another floor manager Cessa complaining about us. (I asked waitress who that guy was in the back) That plate being picked up is an honest mistake however this floor manager handled it so bad mom was afraid they sabotage the food so she never ate it in the end. Overall, the cleaning staff/busers and clean restrooms were the best things about this place. I had so much fun talking with them, especially the very nice old lady (sorry i forgot name) However I cannot recommend this place at all. Very expensive, bad food and bad management service.
The only thing I did mind was we were sat like in a side room from the main dining room which looked more like a party room with multiple tables. I went there to enjoy the whole atmosphere of the restaurant but when you are sat off to the side you don't really experience the restaurant in its entirety. You're going to spend a good amount of change so at least give me a better view. I could have gone to a Brazilian steakhouse, spent about the same and have received a better view and atmosphere but I chose this as a first try and honestly was a but disappointed. I may have to think twice about going back. Try at your own risk. As for the portion of food well again a bit small.

No wonder why has only 3 stars, I'm doing 1 star, very disappointed this place is not mexican restaurant, Sunday many empty tables and big line waiting\nWe got a SADEST chilaquiles plate, very bad …
This restaurant had a nice atmosphere and food was good. The low service review is due to how a terrible accident was handled. I was with a large party when I went to wait in line to have the chef make an egg dish. There is a short plexiglass window blocking people from where he cooks and I stood far as he was cooking many orders on multiple burners with large amounts of hot oil. The chef was flipping a fried egg in the air rapidly near the top of the window cover and a huge splash of oil hit my entire left nose and upper lip. I was also burned on my arm. He immediately stopped and said “sorry”. It felt like my face was on fire. I went to the bathroom and cooled it with water but it continued to burn the rest of the meal and was red and inflamed. A manager came to see how our meal was and when I told him about the situation and how I was concerned for children waiting or walking by, he said they would try to get a better window. I don’t know how to quantify “fixing” that kind of situation but it literally shocked me and nothing was done? Just a “oops, our bad.” It was hot oil- I’m shocked that’s how it was handled? Had it been an inch higher it would have been my eye. Or if my daughter was waiting with me it could have been her face. Today I still have the burn on my upper lip and it looks like it’s going to scar. I still can’t get over they did nothing- Ridiculous. I didn’t make a fuss at the restaurant and clearly they took advantage of that. So disappointed.
Had reservations for a birthday party the drinks took at least 30 mins to be served. Our appetizers another 30 mins and our food was served almost an 1.5 hours after being seated. The rice was sour and the food was tasteless. I was disappointed but more so for the birthday girl. I was looking forward to our dinner and experiencing this extension of the Mi Tierras restaurant and was greatly disappointed. They give this San Antonio icon restaurant a bad name. Oh but they gave us a few boxes of pan dulce to make up for the crappy wait time and food.
Went for lunch and the services was awesome! I can NOT say the same for the food!! I ordered a taco salad the lettuce was bad our daughter and friend ordered nachos to share $17.99 for 8 nachos INSANE!! My husband had cheese enchiladas with beef fajita on top with rice and beans, the enchiladas were bland the beans were TERRIBLE the rice was OK!! They need to reopen Tiago's
Overpriced. Overrated. Our place of choice for a birthday celebration turned out to be anything but. Upon arrival, we suddenly had doubts as we pulled up and saw the drive thru on the side of the building. The establishment tries really hard to make believe it's something near the quality of its Market Square ancestors. It falls extremely flat when it comes to the flavors and ambiance. The rice and beans are less than flavorful, something that resembled an enchilada was cold & nasty. Our order was wrong to begin with and the prices are way beyond any sort of meal that would be worth the price. Imitation is far from flattery with this restaurant. Stick to the original. Will definitely not be returning here.
Our son set a reservation for his wife's birthday and for it was for 15 to 20 people, in the beginning, the waitress took our drink orders, which that took forever to get our drinks, then? She finally came back to take our food orders in the meanwhile, they brought us out several baskets of chips and salsa, and we ordered appetizers of just the Nacho cheese. After that, a family came in sitting in the same area with us. And got their food, their drinks and everything. In a timely manner from one waitress, but we only had one waitress working on on the large party table, an hour goes by. And we still haven't gotten our food an hour, and a 1 goes by. And we still haven't gotten our food. I went and spoke to the manager and told you Mae. If you knew you had the reservation and had to do that. You should have 2 waitresses working. The party. He stipulated that they should have. They had another waitress in there. And I told him, no, that this waitress had not been helping the other waitress with any of the orders or anything at that time. Then, my expectation is is that we've already had somebody's another family.Come behind us, get their order. And their food taken care of and they're almost finished.Eating before we've even gotten our food.He told me that he would go ahead and take care of it less than twenty five minutes later. They come back with our food after that.We found out that the rice was spoiled and that everyone tasting it was bitter. The chips that they kept on, bringing out to us showed that the oil was boiled or had not been changed in a while because chips left a bitter taste in your mouth from the oil.If you were cooking them in needs to say, are anybody really ate anything?Because of the rice was on almost every dish.I was just this place is part of Mi Tierras is disgraceful. I will not come back to this restaurant for serving spoiled rice, sour chips and the lackluster service.
Food is terrible. Fajitas tough as a boot. Stale tortillas. Tex Mex dishes inedible. This place was good when it opened. Wonder what happened. This is for to go orders. Inside of the place is fine. Last time for us and we ordered frequently in the past.
