Friendly staff, great coffee, and great views of the town
One of the oldest establishments in Santa Maria Maggiore, founded in 1933. It's located in the center of the town's main square, with plenty of outdoor seating, as well as a covered area. The gelato is excellent; limited flavors, but made with local milk, and delicious! They also serve aperitifs, and it's a popular spot for young people. The staff is very fast and helpful. Nothing to complain about.
A very cute place, divided in two. One side is a bar, the other serves local bread, cured meats, and cheeses. The owner is very friendly and professional. I discovered it by chance. A wide selection of excellent cured meats and cheeses, and the cereal puff pastries and pizza breadsticks are amazing. I also discovered Messina beer, made with sea salt, a unique but pleasant flavor. I'll definitely be back.
We've been coming to Santa Maria Maggiore every summer since I was born, and we always pop into this bar for an aperitivo. The price and location are perfect. The last time I went, I went with my mom and sister, and we paid a total of €11 for three of us. We had two crodini and a Spritz, plus some excellent appetizers. It's a shame the food is smaller than what's served at the bar next door!
If you're passing through Santa Maria Maggiore, in Piedmont's Val Grande, you can't miss Caffè Pagani. It's a lovely place, with very welcoming staff who respect all anti-COVID regulations. We enjoyed a charcuterie board and a generous selection of amazing cheeses. The courtesy is matched by the very reasonable prices. I thank the owners of this place, and we'll definitely be back.
Fantastic outdoor seating at the square
We were happy to come back, an excellent place with service worthy of the owner Mirko, Aperol Spritz... plus a truly excellent blueberry aperitif..... I recommend ordering a maximum of 2..... if you pass by Santa Maria Maggiore, take a trip there, you won't regret it.... at very reasonable prices 😜

Located in a charming spot, this bar is a great option if you're visiting Santa Maria Maggiore. It offers a variety of food, including sandwiches, piadinas, hot dogs, salads, bruschetta, pasta dishes, main courses, and, of course, bar products like coffee, cappuccino, tea, and pastries. Good value, but be careful about the cleanliness of the bathroom, especially after certain individuals have used it. Compliments to the girl who welcomed us, who was truly kind and lovely.

I asked for a menu and was told it was pointless since they weren't serving food at this hour (2:30). I asked if they had anything sweet... Not even that! Then they brought menus and pasticciotti to the five people next to us... Oh well!!!! Leaving aside the lack of politeness from the people sitting next to us... that's another story!
Disorganized, they contact each other with headsets but are unable to serve and complain if you call them because they can't see you.
For phlegmatic customers only. Arm yourself with patience; after 20 minutes the waiter will notice you're overextending yourself; after 30, the lukewarm beer will arrive; and after 40, the "small plate." Mediocre despite its ostentatious appearance.
