Our waitress is why they get the 5 stars. She was so attentive and just great all around. Food was good, mac and cheese could be better but the sweet potato fries with the dipping sauce was so good.
this is one of the nicest dining experiences that I've ever had. It's suitable for a business lunch, or romantic dinner, with views of the golf course. Absolutely wonderful service, nice menu, and the bar the way it's tricked-out is quite a trip. Highly recommended!
Usually sit in bar area and do $5 appetizers. Nice local feel. Staff genuinely friendly in that bar area. Been going a good bit since new onwers took over and using the regular dinning area too. All the food is great but the burger is insane great.
Love J&R's steakhouse, and I have loved it for years. I like the updated decor and brighter paint. The food is fantastic, great people work here. all around a community favorite go here seriously you'll be back many times
The food is always great and the service is always awesome. Tonight, my wife and I decided to grab diner. On our way out my car wouldn’t start. The owner helped try and jump the car but it still wouldn’t start. Instead of letting me wait for an Uber home, he drove me and my wife back home right in the middle of his busy diner rush. Honestly, I don’t think any other owner or manager of any other restaurant would go out of their way like that to help their customers.
Im a few burgers behind This is from 7/16 We were done with my Father's doctor appointment, in E. Setauket, a bit before 11.15am... Nothing is open for Lunch until noon, for the most part. Maggie's Eatery, in Miller Place was supposed to open at 11.30, but we checked there, and I guess they were late to get there, because we stopped by, and no lights on. Uggg I could just taste their Hamburger!!.. It is one of the best around in my book!!! So.. where to now, at this time of day?? I'm really hungry. My father, whose dementia is such that his understanding of a restaurant not being open, isnt the best, and he's really hungry, as well I thought we'd hit the Zona dinner, in Rocky Point, and check that out to eat As we headed East on 25A, passing Spiros, I caught JnR Steakhouse on the horizon, up to the left.. Bingo!! No cars in the parking, and I recalled they open early. Plus, it's Tuesday, and they have a Veterans Special. He was WWII, I was Vietnam Era, so we took advantage of it. We both ordered burgers. Ive had the burger here before, and it was just average. Not bad at all, but just average.. I noticed they had a Marinated Burger on the menu, so i went with it this time. Because we were so hungry we ordered a pretzel to munch on until the burgers were ready. The pretzel was good , came with 2 sauces, and cheese..Nice and crisp on the outside, soft a hot on the inside. I didn't realize they give the table a decent sized bowl of macaroni salad, so we had that to munch on, as well It was good..A bit of tang to it, not a lot, but enough I am so glad I ordered the marinated burger Wow, the taste was surprising good..It was earthy, a bit of a salt taste it, and a bit of unctuousness. I was completely blown away on how good it was. I really understimated that burger. It was also as juicy as it could possibly be, usually a sign of being hand formed. It immediately moved into my "Top 10" Its not in my rarified Top Teir, but a burger that I would highly recommend to anyone. The bun to meat ratio was very good The temp I asked for was near perfect, medium rare The French Fries were good, as well ..They looked, and tasted like they were hand cut... Skin on, which I appeciate The plate also came with Fried Onions, which is a nice bonus. Our Server, Alexia was great..Very nice to my Father, all while being quick, polite, and professional.. It was a hot day, and they the AC on COLD, so it was a welcome relief. There was plenty of parking, but we got there at 11.30ish, so there was no problem. There's a sizable parking lot there More than a few good burgers on that 25A corridor Glad we stopped in JnR Steakhouse Rocky Point 07/16/24
Love this steakhouse, a favorite among locals. Great beer selection that is always rich with on-tap seasonal choices. The three course dinner is an amazing deal particularly for the delicious prime rib. The rack of ribs is great too!
Everything was delicious, no complaints Everyone at the table was please. We had salad w blue cheese crumbles, chicken wings, Prime rib w onion straws (creamed spinach and sweet potato fries) and our "beat the clock" dinners came w dessert. We got pecan pie and cheesecake 🥧 Our server Melda was gracious and efficient
I recently hosted a surprise 50th Birthday party for my son at this restaurant. I had 19 guests and the entire staff went out of their way to pull off the surprise. The food and service was above board. Angelo, our waiter, was most efficient and handled the large party effortlessly. No one had to wait for a drink or a refill. The food arrived as ordered and steaming hot, as well as being delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for a party or just for a casual dinner.
One of the best Burger Platters I’ve had recently, generous serving, Great service, pleasant dining room. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Inexpensive but well-made, tasty food with very good service. Drinks are hit and miss but the menu fare is consistently good. Recommended are the JRs Big Mac, Rack of ribs, burger, steak salad, and giant pretzel. Also, come for Octoberfest in the fall. Great for the family.
Very happy with our visit food was great as usual
Good steaks and excellent burgers. I wish that J and R would also serve Prime steaks and meats... charge more but give us an option. I think this change would be profitable for the owners and enjoyable for the customers... and I think it world bring in more customers, as I go to different steak houses for my Prime fix. They have some of the best burgers in town and, in season, an awesome sauerbraten.
Sat at the bar. Had the lamb chops and stuffed flounder. Both were awesome. Colin the bartender was also top notch. We will be back!
Yes, the steak was very good. My drink not so good. Our waitress had to reminded my order came with coffee and dessert. I'm sure I can find steak just as good with a professional bartender and a waitress over the age of 12. Don't think I'll be coming back or recommending. J & R' s Steakhouse is doing fine. They've been around a long time and really do make a great steak meal. They just need to hire better bartenders and wait staff
My Wife and I haven't been to a J&R's since before Covid. We decided to have our 31st Anniversary Dinner at the Rocky Point restaurant and didn't know what to expect. Our server was Michelle and she was amazing. She was friendly, attentive and has a really good sense of humor! We arrived about 4:45pm and as it turned out, J&R has a "Beat The Clock Special" menu that is varied and affordable. It even includes dessert! The food was excellent, the service amazing and it all made our special dinner even more enjoyable. I highly recommend any of the J&R locations. By the way, we did not mention to our server that it was our anniversary until we asked for the check and we were still treated wonderfully. Thank you Michele and J&R!
Awsome service! Jack P. Was the coolest dude! The guys dropping the food at the table except 1 of the guys(the oriental dude. You know who he is!)that served/delivered the food decide to stand at the end of the table and have us pass the food down each of us instead of walking around the table and serving each person . He actually served my friend and placed her food across the table like he expected her to reach for it instead of putting it down in front of her. Otherwise a great place to eat!!. Best place to
They took on a 40 person funeral luncheon on 2 days notice. The food was amazing as usual & they allowed my Mother's (the deceased) emotional support dog to attend as well. Great place, great food & most of all...really good hearted people
We usually frequent the J&Rs in Medford, but they are closed on Mondays. Visited with my family. We were a party of 7. There was no wait. We were seated right away and the waiter immediately bought waters to the table. Food was cooked well. Everyone ordered a different cut of steak. They were cooked well and everyone was pleased. I ordered the special and the price was great. Highly recommend!
Our server Michelle was absolutely fantastic!!! Quick friendly service and the food was delicious.
We ordered from the price fixe menu. The food was delicious and plentiful.
The food is always delicious. No matter how crowded they are, they always manage to seat you in a timely manner. I love that. Not a serious complaint but I thought I was the only one who felt that it's always cold inside. I heard other people complaining of the same thing. Raise the temperature and everyone will enjoy their delicious meal in a comfortable environment with your friendly staff!
Food is actually really good . Friendly staff , Great service, Great for a drink at bar or sit down meal .
Had a very nice dine-in dinner. Loved the variety of specials. The food was superb and was made exactly the way I ordered it, and came out hot. The service was extremely good. Atmosphere was very nice, and so clean. Will definitely be going back to the Rocky Point location again.
Order filled mignon with braccoli and lobster bisque soup. We sat by the window to look out at the golf course. The waitress was very friendly and the food came timely!
Great food and great service,I make sure to Come here at least once a week mostly for wings during football but also to go out for lunch sometimes on the weekdays, they always do right by their customers
Hands down the best experience always. There is such a variety of food. All is made to such satisfaction. The service is outstanding.
Good food and good portions with a good price! Not too loud so you. Would actually have a conversation. Parking was Great service was wonderful!
AMAZING! The food was delicious and our server, Michelle, was the best waitress we've ever had! She was absolutely delightful and incredibly attentive. We were a large party (with two handicap members) and she really took care of us. She deserves ALL THE STARS!
This place has been here for quite some time now! I used to live out in Rocky Point 25 years ago, and we used to go here all the time! They used to have a contest where if you ate a huge steak (plus the potato 🥔 😋 and vegetable), you get to eat for free! Lol. They don't do that at this location anymore, but we weren't up for a contest anyway! The prime rib was amazing, the filet was excellent, the NY strip was delicious, and all were ordered marinated J & R style! The creamed spinach was also good, and the Pecan pie came home for dessert! Definitely recommend when/if you're out that way! 👌 👍 👏
This was our first time at a J&R's. We had seen one closer to riverhead and on searching for the menu, realized that there is one 5 minutes from us in Rocky Point, so we decided to go here. My wife was treating me for my birthday and I have to say that it was a great experience and meal. My baked clams were delicious, my french onion soup was so satisfying and my rare prime rib with a side of mushrooms was delicious. My wife had the loaded potato soup, the chicken pot pie and an eggnog martini. We were delighted, stuffed and so happy to find a great steakhouse this close to home. We will definitely be back and I'm definitely bringing more people with me next time!
This place is definitely worth a visit, the staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is very flavorful, they also give nice sized portions. I have never been disappointed, over the years I have been to all of their locations a bunch of times and I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed. I do like the Rocky point location the best though.
Been there a few times since the new owner took over he has been doing a bang up job Meet him when he’s was running food out to cars during Covid. I was starved when we got there from working out side all day.. left totally happy. Go back if you haven’t been there in a while
All the food was very good, except the onion soup. Hopefully they'll figure out how to properly prepare it! Service was great (wish I could remember our waitresses name) her lovely personality paired with attention to detail really added to our dining experience.
This restaurant has more than two locations I believe. I have eaten here and their location in Bay Shore. The food is very good, the portions are more than adequate (does this mean it is burdensome?), and it is family-friendly. There is also a nice selection of adult beverages which is William-friendly. Price point is affordable for you and the kids, so breathe a sigh of relief. You won't have to sell your kids to the circus to pay for your meal. Or rent them out.
Steak was awesome, and the rest of the food was good! Stephanie our waitress was great. My only "beef" was that they use canned nacho cheese on their cheddar broccoli. I blame that on the ownership. Dude, spring for the real deal and upcharge for it. The canned cheese was nasty. Would have given a 5☆ review otherwise!!
It is back to being just like the old JR's. Good food, very good portions with good service. I have heard that a dinner it gets quite busy and the service can be spotty. Maybe as they adjust to there old menu and style that will improve. This a good family restaurant. The bar area has no real feel to it. The lunch specials are very good and you leave with a full stomach.
A run of the mill steak- and chops shop. Nothing to right home about. The steaks are on par with a cosco family pack. The presentation of food is mid, and is a step above a high end hospital cafeteria. Think Macy's food court good.
Attended a party here. The food was very good, tasty and well seasoned. Selection was varied. Service was good considering there was only 1 waitress. Only comment would be the sharing of parking space with a golf course. That kinda made parking a little challenging.
Had the price fix dinner. Wings for appetizer were good ,big portion (6), salad was fine , Prime rib was big , apple pie for dessert. Definitely a good value for about $34 . Would go back.
The food was excellent, servers very kind, atmosphere inviting. My salad was huge, fried calamari was crispy, battered and fried to perfection. My son's hamburgers delicious, onion straws such a nice touch. Filet was tender and flavorful. Only negative was it took an exceptionally long time to get our main course, even the server was concerned. I know everyone is understaffed so we were patient. Just be informed that it could be an extended wait. Hopefully it was a one off.
Food was great. Service was so-so. Waiter was more interested in sitting down talking to a young girl who must have worked there also, not very attentive to his tables, not just ours. It was very cold in the dining room, two of the people I was with had to eat with their coats on. Again, food was great, really good, maybe with a different waiter or waitress the cold wouldn't have bothered us so much. Just as a side note, it's not handicapped accessible so that was a little difficult too but that's on us for not checking ahead of time.
Food was great and plenty of it. Our waitress was Alexa and she was amazing. We were a large group and she was on top of everything. The only drawback was my mother uses a walker. Front entrance has many stairs. Handicap entrance requires you to go around to back. It has a poorly paved hill and ramp in need of repair. Otherwise, this place was a great choice.
Great food, friendly service. Casual local go to restaurant. Consistent and good quality food and dining experience.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at J&R Steakhouse, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. This was my first visit to this particular location, and it did not disappoint. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The food at J&R Steakhouse is consistently excellent, and this visit was no exception. Every dish was prepared to perfection, maintaining the high standards I have come to expect from J&R Steakhouse. The steak was cooked exactly to my liking, tender and flavorful, and the sides were equally impressive. It was clear that great care was taken in selecting and preparing each ingredient, resulting in a truly memorable meal. The service was another highlight of my visit. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations, enhancing our dining experience even further. It’s always a pleasure to receive such outstanding service, and it certainly added to the overall enjoyment of our evening. However, I did notice one minor drawback during my visit: the internet connectivity was not very good. While this didn’t detract from the dining experience itself, it’s worth mentioning for those who might need to stay connected during their visit. Despite this small issue, I would love to visit this J&R Steakhouse location again in the future. The combination of delicious food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a perfect choice for a memorable dining experience. I look forward to my next visit and am excited to explore more of the menu offerings. If you haven't had the chance to dine here yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. You won’t be disappointed!
Dinner was great I had the combo dinner which was the filet mignon & shrimp scampi. Very good and both were cooked perfectly. Service was great, dinner was great. Expect for one "small" problem, no pun intended. I asked for two tiramisu's to go and when I got home, I was surprised by the tiny lil pieces of dessert there was. I just spent $123.00 + a $22.00 tip, so $145.00 and the tiramisu was $8 a piece for something smaller than an credit card. Wow, SMH. Very disappointing. I called the restaurant and the hostess offered me another piece over the phone lol. I wasn't about to drive, use gas to go a 1/2hr, to get another small pc of cake. Note to hostess: just serve a sufficient size of dessert to your guests if you're going to charge $8.
Service was quick and easy. Our waitress was very attentive. Food came out hot and delicious. We did the Monday special for the ribeye plus a side dish, the special included one app (we ordered the baked clam) but it’s a choice of that, wings, mozz sticks or something else. Also includes salad or soup and dessert! The baked clam was really delicious! And the ribeye was cooked perfectly for us (medium rare) Went back Friday and had Erica again! She was awesome! Very friendly and gave me suggestion. The pumpkin beer is back!!!!
The food was very good. But the restaurant was way too loud. I had to move to the back of the restaurant where at least I could better understand what my mother was saying across the table. But it was still loud. It's very pricey. It was $40 for a burger, salad and 2 soups. The handicap access is very awkward. The ramp is located behind the restaurant, up a hill and inside the gate to a golf course. The pavement on the ramp is not smooth and wood be torture for a wheelchair.
Food is okay. Service was extremely slow. Spent 3 hours there after the rude hostess told us they could only sit us for 2 hours because there was a resevered table coming in. The whole time we were waiting for the waitress to take our order and our checks. Over an hour before our entrees were at our table. Waitress was nice but host at front extremely rude. Please have faster service, especially when rushing the customer from the start.
Haven't been here since the old one was open and thought of trying it since reopening. Went for happy hour because of food and drink specials. We ordered the wings and calamari, which were a bit disappointing. The amt. of calamari was good though, it just was barely cooked, the wings were over done and small. Then we moved on to the Monday steak special, I got the marinated steak which used to be awesome, it was barely marinated and tasted like charcoal. Once again disappointed for the amt. charged. Im hoping we just hit it on an off night. The bartender was attentive, so service was good.
Other than the steak. Everything was above average. I liked the chicken, the fries and the coffee. I was disappointed in the steak. Lacked flavor and was cooked rare instead of medium which is what I asked for.
At this location, the food was extremely salty! The steaks were either overcooked, or too salty. I wouldn't recommend this J&R'S.
The food is pretty good for the money. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is on the loud side.
I have been to all the J&R steakhouses on the island and the one in Islip always has the best food it’s always hot , fresh seasoned and cooked perfectly. The food at this Rocky point location tasted old. It wasn’t hot. It didn’t taste fresh. It wasn’t spoiled, but it wasn’t good and I went for their Oktoberfest menu. One of things that I got was the seafood bisque. I sent it back. It was terrible no flavor, no seafood in it except for a couple of pieces of fake crab. The restaurant was dirty. It smelled like bar from the night before the tables were sticky and tacky. I will not go back and had I not already been to the one in Islip I probably would never visit another one of these establishments again. The Medford location is five minutes down the road from our house and we don’t go there either because the food is the same as the Rocky point location.
I ordered the ribeye steak with baked potato, French onion soup and wedge salad for take out. The steak was rubbery, the soup was in a broken plastic container that leaked all over everything else and the wedge salad was from an expired head of lettuce. Would have given it less stars but this is my first time there so benefit of the doubt.
The food is good. I like the always available prime rib. Reasonably priced with a sufficient number of choices. Nice drink menu that is seasonal a great plus. However, their service is where they fall down. The waitress was obviously overwhelmed as she seemed to be the only one working multiple tables. It started with items ordered not being put in. A coke and cheesy bread that never arrived. A request when seated to not allow my guest to pay the bill at any time. My guest paid the bill. Which I will admit infuriated me and ruined my evening. Now to add insult to injury the desserts that were ordered to go were literally thrown on the table. We had to catch one since it had such momentum before it hit the floor. No bag to carry the desserts. When I asked her what happened to the bill she said nothing she could do my friend paid. Get smart. Get an interactive system that allows patrons to order and pay at the table. Your staffing would have time to work with customers at a friendly pace and not be running and throwing things at people in haste. Perhaps disappearing less into the kitchen. Last comment by the time we arrived home we were both sick 🤢.
After calling and being told there was no wait, we arrived within 20 minutes and were told it would be a 40 minute wait. After our wait to be seated, it took over 20 minutes to take our drink orders, which took 20 minutes to arrive before our appetizers were ordered. We waited another half hour for our dinner order to be taken. Dinner then took over an hour and ten minutes for the first plate to be brought out, which came out alone. Several minutes later 2 more plated came out. 10 minutes later several more dinners were served. The final person in our party to be served got their dinner 25 minutes after the first person was served. In all our trip to dinner took just under 3 1/2 hours. On top of the terribly long waits and slow service, there were multiple errors on the order. Food overcooked, food not to order, special requests not met, appetizers were sold out and replacements sent to table without even a mention. Overall it was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I would give the service ZERO stars. The food that was served correctly was delicious, but not worth the ridiculous experience.
Tavern atmosphere, order a burger medium and got well done
I would really like to be given a gift certificate for the 100 dollars I paid for a terrible dinner - or a makeup dinner on the house, not that I would go back. First time there with my wife, which by the way, we frequent the Calverton location, the music was so loud with heavy metal, my wife said she felt anxious the first 5 minutes in, not dinner music by any means, Michele was nice enough to lower it. They were out of coconut shrimp, and the 1/2 chicken, to start off. The baked clams were raw rolled mush pushed into a clam shell, with peppers in them, and hardly "baked". In lieu of the 1/2 rack of ribs and coconut shrimp my wife likes, she had 1/2 rack of ribs, with chicken breast that was raw, and pink and a almost cooked sweet potato. Needless to say, she lost her apatite and asked for a box. I had a ribeye that was so fatty there was hardly any meat on it. We were so looking forward to having what we usually have at the other location, only to find out that they are not affiliated with each other at all. What a disappointment, so looking forward to coconut shrimp, 1/2 chicken seasoned, sweet potato's and a great steak!!! OH I ALMOST FORGOT before we even got to have our apps, one bite of a wing, our dinner was being brought out. So needless to say, we pushed our wings aside, they should have taken them off of the bill, to be quite honest, at least Michele took the raw rolled mush clams off, and she kept apologizing for the rush, she said she yelled at the kitchen, for stacking us. Something was going to get cold and/or left under the heat lamp, so we pushed the apps aside and ate or tried to eat our dinner, which was a disaster. A disappointment from start to finish.
Normally I go to the Medford location, but since a friend moved to Mt. Sinai, we decided to try this location and I think we will take the extra time to drive to Medford going forward. We waited at least ten minutes to be acknowledged, and when who I assume was the manager seated us he seemed to complain that it was busy since it was a nice day out and everyone was out and about, followed up by a complaint that tomorrow would be slow. Which would please you, sir? Negativity is hardly a nice way to start an evening. It took a long time for our drink order to be taken, and then a second server asked for our drink order, leaving us confused as to who would be our server. We only ordered sodas and it took 15 minutes, no water in the meantime. Either the chef is a fan of vinegar or the restaurant has a surplus, because the macaroni bean salad, Caesar salads, my coleslaw, and I suspect my friend's garlic mashed potatoes had far too much vinegar, we couldn't eat much of either item. As for the potatoes, it's possible I was tasting sour cream, or Greek yogurt, or rancid milk. Hard to tell. I ordered the coconut shrimp, and while they were nice and crispy, there are 8 or 9 given on the platter and you are served about a tablespoon of the pina colada sauce, and said "sauce" seems to be only coconut milk. At the Medford location it's much more flavorful and has small chunks of pineapple and coconut in it. I felt sorry for the servers, as there seemed to be only two taking care of a rather large room, but they seem to be poorly trained. We caught the attention of one, but just barely, as he saw us, made eye contact, and promptly went to walk away before we called after him. We would have perfectly understood if he said "Give me a moment, let me find your server," but please don't ignore a customer. Would have been good with a "one moment please" gesture, you know? Again, we suspect poor training. It's possible we caught this location on a bad night, but if nothing else I really feel they need to revisit the amount of vinegar that goes in their recipes, and their manager needs to learn how to put on a "customer service" smile.
I’ll make this review as simple as possible: Service:10, I would even give 20. Food: 4 Platting: 1 Ambience: 0 Hope this helps
Horrible food. I have eaten here before and expected better. My wife and I couldn't even finish our meal. The service was good, but as I sit here writing this review, and feeling sick, the service could have been world class and is overshadowed by the nasty food.
We have been coming here for 7+ years .always great reasonably priced food. Today the place looked great! A little renovation was over due. Our bartender was okay..2nd day in job. So I got it..she was fine. Our food was horrific! Mussels which I always have were in a greasey tomatoes fluid..the garlic bread was also greasy and no garlic..my husband's. Pastrami sandwich was a greasy mess. I am sorry we will not be returning to this place. Sprioos restaurant just next door. So we will moving on. You need a new chef..your food is failing you!
Was at this restaurant for the first time last night and I can honestly say that it was not the best experience. I have had bad restaurant experiences but this one may or may not have taken its place. After paying $80 in food for two people, I was only happy with my nachos that we ordered for an appetizer and my glass of water. To say the least, my friend ordered the seafood combo which smelt like low tide and it almost like eating pure rubber the food was cooked so overdone. I had ordered the pulled pork sandwich and within the first bite, I felt as if I was eating a tire as well and just stopped...lost my appetite immediately. Usually not one to write reviews or anything either but we had to ask the bus boy twice for our server to come take our order after waiting a good 20+ minutes then asking the manager who kept coming outside because the server was taking so long for our check to leave. He saw we both had full plates of food left and after asking us if we wanted boxes and responding with no, i was surprised he hadn’t asked why not. Anyways, won’t be returning and I hope this changes!
We waited 40 minutes for appetizers, that were not good and when we told the waitress she just asked if we wanted a box. I said no they were terrible and she said oh ok. Another 20 minutes for the meal, that was just warm. I would never go back to that J &R's.
I was here last night around 8:30 Food here was terrible! We had steak and garlic mashed potatoes and everything was terrible
Worst steak house I’ve ever been to. I went with a group of friends. One friend ordered a soda and it took almost 10 minutes for it to arrive. Another friend ordered a side of fries and they simply forgot to make it for her. My friend and I also ordered different steaks cooked a different way and they swapped our orders. And when the bill came, they automatically included a 20% tip which I thought was way to high all things considered. Would never go back or recommend them to anyone.
My husband and I went for lunch on Sunday in CALVERTON J&Rs. We had the waitress with the ridiculous eyelashes. My steak was well done. I ordered medium. I had to switch steaks with my husband because we could find the waitress. . I had no sauce for my sweet fries even after having a discussion about it with my waitress. My husband needed steak sauce and another drink. Our waitress was MIA after taking our order. We had to go up to the bar to get what we needed. Time for the check and still no waitress. I had to bother the bartender AGAIN to get our check. We sat there for 10 minutes waiting before having to ask him to please get it for us. As we handed him out credit card she appears. Takes the bill and card. Looks annoyed. No apology nothing. Have a good nite she says as she puts the slip on the table and walks away. Very poor service. Poor attitude from start to finish. Next time we will sit at the bar because the bartender is amazingly friendly and very attentive.
I cannot be more disappointed with the food. I ordered the flank steak special, it was a complete rubber band. As I explained to the waiter it was not his fault, it was just a bad cut of meat. Our waiter was absolutely amazing he offered to take it off the bell but I politely declined it was not his fault. But I would think going to a steakhouse that they would have better cuts of meat.Very unacceptable if you ask me.
Not a family friendly environment at all! Decided to come here after a day from the farms with my wife, children and in-law; my youngest completely knocked out on the way to the restaurant. After we arrived I decided to take out the stroller so he could continue to sleep. The place has tons of stairs in front so the only access ramp is actually behind the restaurant into the golf course. After entering the restaurant the only seating that seemed available was in the front dining area; That area also had stairs and was overflowing with people almost at max. I requested if my family could be seated in the rear dining area and was told that there were not enough servers to do that and was closed off as a result. I spoke to the manager to see if there was anything she could do just so that my baby could stay in the stroller without bringing him downstairs and she declined to accommodate. So if a person in a wheelchair decided to eat at this restaurant and there wasn't adequate staffing for someone to serve that individual in the rear dining area (where it's handicap accessible) that person wouldn't be able to eat. As a manager she made no attempt to come up with a solution and was dismissive. I know this review most likely isn't gonna change much, but at least people can get a sense of how they treat certain customers despite it being a popular establishment.
We were back in town for the holidays. My husband took me there to celebrate my 60th birthday with a childhood friend, sister in-law, brother in-law and nephews. All received there dinner. I ordered a 20 oz marinaded rib eye medium. At first the server delivered a 12 oz with mashed potatoes. No one ordered this steak to find out it was supposed to be the 20oz. The server took it back. They put a 20 oz on an brought it to me black on the outside and completely raw on the in. By the time my dinner was served, all were done eating and dessert was being served. My steak was taken home, had no taste other than grease and because it was placed in a aluminum pan, it was over cooked leather and continued to the garbage. I ate left over stew my father in law has cooked. Thank you JR's for a horrible Birthday dinner.
I will never spend a dollar there again. Terrible service
Very disappointed that we can no looking sit in the back room overlooking the beautiful golf course. My family and friends now drive out to JRS in Calverton. I call periodically to see if the room is open but apparently only on weekends.
Right at the start the pasta salad for the table came out with a huge long piece of black colored hair. Disgusting I understand why this place is empty on a Saturday night smh this place has went so far downhill will not return will never recommend
We just moved out here and heard great reviews about this place. Got take out, came home l only to find out my man was eating a foot long blonde hair... They asked if he wanted another sandwich! FOH! They don't use hairnets but if you like the taste of hair, that's the spot... Never again... They're gross!
Bartender didn't know how to use credit card machine. Terrible service.
I've visited various J&R steakhouses before and have always had a positive experience. So, I decided to bring my family to this location. However, the experience was quite disappointing. When we ordered cocktails, the waiter informed us that they were out of them. The same thing happened when we ordered food and dessert. When we asked the waiter why they didn't have anything in stock, he responded that they usually run out of stuff on Sundays. Additionally, there were families with children who were being loud and disruptive, which made the experience worse. Overall, I wouldn't recommend going to this location.
The "Happy Hour" menu listed prices for domestic beer as $5.00 and imported as $7.50. I ordered a Yuengling and was charged $7.50, I asked the bartender about the price and he told me they list Yuengling as a import. I told him Yuengling has been brewed in Pennsylvania since 1829 and is in fact the oldest brewery in the United States. He said that is the price they charge as a import and made no offer to correct the overcharge. There are plenty of bars on Route 25A that charge legitimate prices and don't cheat their customers.
Not our first time here but definitely our last!!! Put our order in and our salad and soup came out before our appetizer. I ordered center cut fillet mignon 7oz medium. First thing the steak was fileted , they cut the meat and made 2 pieces out of it but you only get one piece. It was supposed to be medium but was over done and dry. The potatos were over fried and had no taste. So I did not eat this meal. I asked for the manger who had an attitude. I asked for it to be taken off my bill. My husband's meal was good. His meat was cooked well. His sweet potato he didn't like said they had a funky taste and dry The last time we came here the same issue with the meat. Not getting what you pay for and not getting it cooked the way you want it We are done with Jr's in Rocky point.
went here for dinner tonight i ordered the 20 ounce prix fix ribeye what i got was a shell steak was tough and chewy if i wanted that i would of ordered that for half the price i like ribeye because it’s fatty and melts in your mouth , even the server sam agreed, she ordered me a new one to go(because i have a 5&2 yr old that don’t last long )and i got home with in 20 minutes and its the same thing , i called and spoke to the old lady that seated us that has the caked on make up she said her name was either nemia or lemia i couldn’t tell with her heavy accent, i told her what happened and she was rude and said the manager was off for the night , which is a lie i was just there , i left my name and number , lets see if he calls … she wouldn’t give him the phone
DO NOT DINE IN THIS PLACE!! Every time we go they make mistakes on the food order, and are not willing to correct it! We dined here a few days ago, first the steak was burnt, then it was not cooked, and they would not correct.i ordered my meal with no toppings on the food, and asked for the toppings on the side. They put all the toppings on the food, scraped off the toppings, charged me for an extra side when the toppings come with the meal, then said I never said to put the toppings on the side.there were other mistakes, but to many to list.i spoke to the manager, and the manager would not take anything off the check.Very bad business, and how can they lie about what I said.
This place used to have decent food and the prime rib WAS good but definitely NOT NOW. I don’t know what happened maybe they lost a good cook or maybe they just gave up. But sadly it’s absolutely terrible now. The cooks do NOT know how to cook a steak properly or season it. EVERY TIME I order a medium steak it comes out over cooked and tastes burnt. Very disappointing. If you want a delicious steak, go to Texas Roadhouse. They know how to cook a steak.
Besides getting great service from our waitress Michelle our experience there was horrible. Food took way too long to come out. Had 2 orders of the Prime French dip. Both were well done and dry sides were cold . Sent 1 order back and 15 min later it came back no better and ice cold potatoes. All the meals , we had 4 people were way below standards. Very disappointed
Worse jr took 3 times for steak to come out right that after that couldn’t eat with family cause they were already done waitress was nasty with her comments of oh at least it came out then manager on duty gives a 8 dollar discount on 150 diner then tells me oh you got sporty for free hello we order off fixed menu comes with appetizers and soup stay away from rocky point I will go back to my Medford one I drove 45 minutes to try different one for the worse night celebrating my brother in laws birthday
My wife and I were seated at 6:45pm on a Sunday and it took over half an hour for a server to come to our table. We were the only non-white patrons inside and we saw three parties that came after getting promptly greeted with water and their complimentary pasta with pickles dish and their order taken. I was looking at the servers and smiling trying to get their attention but everyone was ignoring me. It was not a great look. The only non white folk to be ignored. My wife and I've been to Spiro's next door, Texas Roadhouse, Outback steakhouse several times but it's only at J&R that we faced subtle racism. Michelle, the only server that noticed us, was apologetic regarding our wait time but hurried us through our order so that she could take the order of the family that came 25 minutes after us. We only stayed because we had heard good things about the food here. It's the worst out of all the above mentioned steakhouses. Ordered the special 16 Oz prime steak medium rare but it was chewy as hell. The French onion soup and the chili were good but the main meals were a huge disappointment. There was live music which was good and the bathrooms were clean. Enough parking around the establishment. The young staff here need diversity training. If you're a PoC, you may want to avoid this place until management sees this review and responds appropriately with a clear course of action so that this sort of a behavior is never repeated at this establishment.
