Sooooo gooood! My husband said it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches he’s ever eaten and I felt the same about my order. Highest recommendation!
Delicious lox bagel. The salmon was great, the everything bagel tasty and crunchy, and the tomatoes, onions and capers just right. The other sandwiches and bread look fantastic so I’ll be back to try them. Another visit: I tried the veggie sandwich and the veggie part was excellent; tasty roasted peppers, fresh avocado, and greens. Also, the chips were the crispest I’ve ever had. But the focaccia bread was a letdown, extremely bland and devoid of taste. Still a great place for a bagel or sandwich.
we take our bagels seriously and had been looking forward to giving casper’s a try for some time now and we were so pleased with our experience. simple little location, minimal seating, but clean and comfortable. they were busy the whole time were were there, which makes sense because of how delicious the bagels are. the lox bagel was top notch, fresh, and flavorful! we will be back!
No one in Austin is doing bagels like Casper Fermentables, they are unmatched! This place has quickly become our go-to weekend breakfast spot. Our favorites are the lox bagel, the pizza bagel (try it with the jalapeño bagel- yum!), and the incredibly delicious sourdough cinnamon roll. Casper Fermentables is also perfectly located next to an awesome coffee shop (Stouthaus) and has plenty of outdoor seating. Every weekend we’ve gone the place gets more and more busy, this place is a gem and people are catching on!
This place was the jam. Pat on the back to my husband for finding this place when I mentioned I was craving a bagel. I mean, I was thinking like going to HEB but who knew there was a specialty shop for bagels in good ole Austin Texas. The bagels were perfectly crusty on the outside and easy to bite if ya know what I'm sayin. Not too dense, not too bready, not too chewy.... just right. We tried the two main reviewer recommendations and they did not disappoint. I was a little worried my kiddos would be adverse to the choices we made but they devoured their portions....and then some. I will have to say my favorite was the Smoked Whitefish Salad. For those of you who are reading this and are thinking - meh... just trust me. You may become a believer. If it's fishy and smoked you fear - don't you worry my friend. I found it not too fishy and perfect amount of smoky. Super surprise! My kiddos each got a Phoebe's Rugelach. What even is a rugelach you ask? Lol I still don't even know - but it was freaking delicious. If my carb conscious mind hadn't been speaking to me, I would have ordered a couple more of these bad mamas to go just for myself.
Grandma approved!! My grandma is extremely picky about her food and restaurants and she still raves about how delicious and spot on this place is. My favorite things are the tuna sandwich, the chocolate rugelach and the pizza bagel. Tuna salad is PERFECTION and honestly so is everything else, you cannot go wrong. I also recently discovered their kombucha on tap and I’m wondering where this has been all my life! Super crisp, delightful, slightly sweet and it’s a tea kombucha so it’s caffeinated. It’s the perfect morning drink and it’s a glass of happiness (and only 2 grams of sugar but actually tastes sweet)
Definitely my favorite bagels in Austin. My favorite combo is the jalapeño bagel with roasted garlic schmear. 🥯 Their sweets are also delicious! Chocolate rugelach and cinnamon rolls especially.
Casper is a really cute place. I ordered the Lunch Veggie Sando sandwich which also came with chips and their freshly made pickle. I loved it! Everything was freshly made and their bread scrumptious. I also had the cinnamon rugelach to try and it was a delicious treat indeed! Everyone that works there is super friendly too!
Stop in and get the best bagels in Austin—heck, probably all of Texas! I remember when these folks would come to my local farmers market, and now you can get the same level of quality and care at their brick and mortar location. Had to go with a classic bagel with cream cheese, but also ordered the turkey sandwich. Perfectly sliced red onion, the perfect proportions of meat/veg/thicccc focaccia bread. Amazing taste and super friendly staff. Get you some kombucha, kimchi, or a loaf to go. So good!! So proud of these guys!!
Fun little place just off the freeway. They serve a variety of baked goods, sandwiches, and drinks. Especially unusual are their two kombuchas on tap. Their sour dough, bagels, and cream cheese were as good as I heard recommended. They serve coffee from the coffee pub next door. Ik forward to trying their sour krout as well.
Fantastic bagel & breads for Texas. Sourdough focaccia with turmeric fermented sauerkraut rocked. Pizza bagel & miso cookie were both solid.
Great, quick and friendly service. Bagel was amazing with the jalapeño maple shmear. Got the spicy turkey and the chili oil was amazing. I need to go back for some other items I spied. Would recommend and will return.

A really cool spot that is sort of hard to notice! Not a lot of indoor seating but enough! Love that it’s next door to Stouthaus. The Salmon Lox was absolutely delicious! I got chive cream cheese and an everything bagel. Service wasn’t impressive. Holly, who took my order was just meh. Not necessarily rude or anything, just didn’t feel welcomed, I asked how she was doing and no response. No smile. But aside from that - I will definitely be coming back to try some of the other menu items!
Caspers is one of the best and unique experiences of sourdough bread, bagels and the absolute best cinnamon rolls! I highly recommend indulging in a yummy breakfast or lunch here. Phoebe went out of her way to make sure we had a wonderful experience!
Every time I visit here, I'm blown away by the freshness and quality of the items offered. The bagels are always superb, and their sandwiches are some of the best I've had in Austin. Definitely give them a try!
Love this place! The bagels, focaccia, bialys, and cinnamon rolls are outstanding. Egg salad on everything is my go to. I highly recommend the kimchi. It's a staple in our fridge. Go early and expect a bit of a wait, but it is always worth it.
Finally got to check out this gem! Got there pretty early but was still crowded. Goes to show, people know good food. Got a half dozen of their sourdough bagels. They don't look like much but the chewy goodness you get from the sourdough stops you in your tracks and whoa, they are tasty. Also picked up one of their giant cinnamon rolls. Now THIS is a cinnamon roll. Very much the complete opposite of the one I reviewed last week which was very unpleasant. This one here at Casper is perfect. Crispy top layer and moist chewy middle with perfect sweetness. Will definitely stop by again for their sourdough loaf and focaccia.

Recommend the food, but just need a little better customer service at point of sale. Have tried Casper twice. Both times bagels were good and other baked goods to go were GREAT. I see the staff prepping food hustling and make a real tasty tuna with dill, but I’ve gotten the same cashier twice who really just was not pleasant or into selling the food. Overall, there is a lot of good there and the place is cute and bright with indoor/outdoor seating. Appreciate the ownership response and look forward to more baked goods.

Tuna sandwich was awesome! It’s fresh, made to order, and not too wet/mayo-y. The turkey was just okay. It’s nothing special. The cafe is very cute. It’s a small space, so you’ll have to share tables if hanging out.
Overrated and overpriced. I lived in NYC for nearly 5 years. I know a good bagel. Ate them all the time. The bagels here are small, dense, and rubbery. In other words, the opposite of what a bagel should be. Could barely enjoy my lox bagel without damn near all the toppings falling off because it was so rubbery that I had to wrestle the bagel to get a bite. It required actual effort to eat and was needlessly messy as a result. The layout of the place is really bad. The space can barely handle a 4 person line with how it’s currently set up, and there was at least 4 people in line the entire time I was there. There’s definitely a smarter way to utilize the space. I will give them credit on a couple of things: 1. The toppings - the lox, whitefish, cream cheese, etc., all seemed good. 2. The service was good. I was expecting more from this place based on the reviews. Overall fine, but don’t expect to be wowed or feel like you got your money’s worth.
The thing is, the food is good, but the customer service is just pretty lame. I’m made to feel like “I should be thanking them for letting me patronize their establishment” rather than the other way around. Hard to order, if they get it wrong their inclination is to blame you, if you need something you will have to get back in a long line to have it addressed. Definitely that hip sort of experience that quite frankly makes me not come here very often.

This place used to be so good but this time the bagels were so flat they were square, the rugelach was raw and the service was awful as always. The store is cute though and the focaccia is still good.
Atmosphere I went to pick up food through an app. When I arrived, a super friendly woman helped me. I showed her my phone, and they already had the bags of bread ready. She was about to hand it to me when a man took it from her and said, "This person is something else," because he was staring at me. He gave her another clear bag with some bagels, far inferior to what they had in paper bags already prepared... I felt awful. They were being racist. Now I'm incredibly sad. This has never happened to me before.
