Easiest the favorite part of my trip, so good it was the only place i went to twice because i had to go back. Didn't eat but just the views were different,by far the best of any high rise in the area.
The view is truly breathtaking, good music, but poor organization, you have to go to the bar to order what you want, the waiters are there, but they sit comfortably at the bar, they only come to bring the orders. few tables and placed a bit randomly, many sofas that face the pool and not the view. Too bad, because a better service would have led to a much higher rating.
Great location. Staff at skysill is less than satisfactory. I would have fired them all. Guy from corporate showed up undercover and they put on their smiling faces for a minute. He left, they went back to discount employees. Music was hype elevator music, food was better at Filibertos. Mind you, this has nothing to do with staff/food in the actual restaurant. They were all on point and restaurant downstairs was absolutely 💯 along with staff.
Loved the rooftop pool lounge! The pool is relatively small but good enough space and there is a hot tub and it’s very hot! The bar is nice. The most beautiful views and of you can catch the sunrise and sunsets, you will be in awe! Drinks are pricey, but the experience overall is to die for.
A great place to relax, unwind and get a drink from the full bar. Beer on tap. Nearby the rooftop pool.
This is a great place to take a date, the view is fantastic! There is a nice comfortable lounge area with couches. I can't forget to mention that they are serving world famous Jeppson's Malört. Spent the afternoon/evening in the pool and hot tub. It's was a bit crowded, but we had a cabana so we were comfortable. Great place to hang out by the pool for drinks. It can be romantic, a party, or relaxing. We will continue to frequent this place, the view alone makes it worth it.
Awesome rooftop. The food was ok but the view was exceptional. You will need your room badge to access the gate on the roof or one of the guys at the bar will walk over to open for you.
Massive view from here Air-lee super nice bartender, knows how to pour any drink you want, tequila specialist. Westin knows how to treat their guests Perfect birthday, thanks!
Great view and quick service at the bar. DJ Thursday night, great jams. So far my favorite rooftop bar! Will visit again.
Always a Tempe must! The Skysill Rooftop Lounge is located on the top floor of the Westin. You will have to enter the lobby and go towards the elevators. Be sure to have your ID out and ready. They do ask before entering depending on the day. The cocktails at the rooftop lounge do cost $16 each. They do have a mocktail that ranges around $7 and some change. Food is anywhere from $12-$52. Be sure to tip the wonderful staff! I am a local and I have been the Skysill Rooftop Lounge many times. I have always enjoyed the beautiful view during the day or the night. This is one of the best rooftops in the area. They have a pool, spa and many seating areas. Reservations are allowed. You can also enjoy watching games with their massive projector. The music is always a vibe.
if there was one place to take your out of town guests to, be sure to bring them up here. Both night time and daytime experiences are very unique offering one of a kind views of the Phoenix valley. I honestly only been up here for the drinks so I can't judge any food that could be provided.
Went here for the may the fourth event. The cocktails were really good. The view was the best part: A mountain, the bridge, whole valley and mountains. I recommend going an hour before sunset
Amazing rooftop lounge. My wife and I went here while in town. The drinks were great. The service was fantastic. And the views were stunning.
Super cute and small roof top bar . The weather was amazing to be our issue and enjoy it (October). Bonus you get an amazing view Tempe and The A on the mountain right in front.
Sitting atop the Westin, this bar offers excellent views out over Tempe. It’s a must see spot to grab a drink and soak in that sunset vibe!
Nice little spot. Simple menu. Drinks were very well made. Stunning views.
Highly recommend. There’s usually good music playing, and the drinks are pretty decent. The manager Shannon is also really helpful.
Very limited menu but such good food. The dessert charcuterie board is amazing. The view is spectacular.
Great views. $15 basic margaritas. $10 shots of Jack. Prices weren't great but not the craziest we saw in the area. The views made it worth it.
Amazing view from Downtown Tempe at Skysill Rooftop Lounge. Spent a few hours here for the Fourth of July. They had a DJ and the bartenders were keeping up with the crowd. They have misters everywhere so don't let the Arizona heat turn you away.
Skysill Rooftop Lounge is such a vibe! The views are absolutely stunning, especially at sunset, and the entire space feels chic but relaxed. The cocktails were delicious and thoughtfully made, with just the right balance of flavor and presentation. The service was excellent too, everyone was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Whether you're there for a date night or just to unwind with friends, the ambiance is perfect. Definitely one of my new favorite rooftop spots in the city!
Skysill Rooftop Lounge is hands-down Tempe’s most elevated hangout experience! Located atop The Westin Tempe, this sleek 18-story rooftop retreat blends an infinity pool, plush daybeds, and cocktail-forward luxury with panoramic desert-and-city views that are nothing short of breathtaking. Whether you're lounging poolside under the sun or sipping expertly crafted cocktails as the skyline glows at sunset, the atmosphere is effortlessly cool and inviting. Live DJs, pool parties, and movie nights keep the energy alive, while attentive service and shareable bites round out an experience that feels both exclusive and welcoming—an absolute must for rooftop lovers.
This is a great rooftop lounge with incredible views. When I came up here, they were busy but the service was still fast. They have a small menu but the food is still good. This is a great place to have a drink and look at the views and watch the sunset. You can get really good photos of A Mountain and several of the other high-rise buildings in the area as well from up here.
I went here for a roof top pool party. Beautiful place. I did not like the vaping policy on the roof and the security guard I'm convinced was a hall monitor at some point. But overall it was a classy place, beautiful pool, friendly staff.
Our server Mika or Minka was a rock star! She is a girls girl through and through. Kyler also helped us out initially when arriving when we were confused about seating. You can make a reservation online but there is an issue with the website so it is first come first serve! Alex the manager was also super great and all staff were super accommodating. My friend is celiac and they offered options and were very transparent and cautious about cross contamination. Great place!
I was there on a Friday night...it had a nice crowd but not too crowded...the food, the ambiance, and the 1st cocktail I had was amazing! 2nd cocktail not too good..I threw it away The service....terrible...from the managers down. Rude...no smiles at all ...like none of the employees wanted to be there! If you want really great food and the amazing views go give them a try, maybe they all just had a bad evening 😉
Stunning views. Good shared plates - including the ahi tacos, sliders and flatbread. Excellent margarita (with upgraded tequila). Being 18 floors up at sunset over Tempe can’t be beat. It definitely is smaller than it looks on social media, though. Think bar by the pool versus restaurant. No reservations. Pricey. But great spot for sunset bites and drinks.
The atmosphere is a 10!! We arrived for cocktails and apps for my dad's birthday. They had seats open when we arrived and they had a showing of Hocus Pocus 2 playing as well! Super cool place- weather was perfect during the 1st week of October. Food and service was extremely slow but the girls working were super nice.
Amazing views of Tempe and Phoenix. Very nice pool and big screen TV. Drinks are $$$.
Gorgeous views. Very limited food menu, it takes a while to be served. Some random menu items. Big screen if you want to watch a game.
Was such a beautiful view and food and drinks tasted good but food and drinks overpriced because of the view. Bartender was rude to us.
We've stayed at the Westin Tempe several times and really enjoy the hotel and Skysill Rooftop Lounge. The views are incredible, especially at sundown. The pool is small, seating is limited, and finding shade on a hot sunny day can be difficult, but it is a great place to chill. Now for the bad part. The service is ridiculously slow. The bartenders seem more interested in talking to the other staff than pouring drinks. As other reviews have said, they employees tend to stand around and talk instead of serving the customers. This bar could make a killing in profit if it had bartenders and servers that were interesting in actually working the room. There is limited space at the bar so we had hoped that the servers walking around would come and take our order. After waiting more than 15 minutes and trying our best to get their attention, we had to go up to bar to order our drinks. (FYI, the "cool deck" is less than cool on hot, sunny days. If you do not have shoes/sandals on your feet, they will burn.) Even after ordering a round of drinks, the staff take forever to come around and take reorders. I would say that management needs to spend some time up there to get the staff working, but I've seen the managers up there and they are also just hanging out and chatting it up. Our last night there, we went up to the pool for some late evening drinks and a little hot tub time. We got setup around the hot tub and after about 20 minutes, we finally were able to flag down an employee and asked if they were still serving. He seemed shock that we would ask but we explained that we've been trying to get someone to come by and take our order. While we were up there, we counted at least 8 different hotel employees just hanging out. Some were servers "working" the bar/pool area, others looked they might have been random hotel employees. We even saw a couple of facilities guys that were up there to take in the music and atmosphere. Maybe they were off their shift, but it is not a good look to that many employees lingering about and no one helping the customers. As I said, this bar could make a lot of profit if they just put in a little effort. It's hotel priced drinks and food, the profit margins should be pretty decent, you would think there would be some hustle to get customers to rack up a nice little tab so the servers could score a healthy tip. We will go back, because we really like the hotel, but we'll keep our expectations at a minimum with regards to service at the rooftop bar. The atmosphere is 5 star, the service is 1 star (at best).
I will start out by saying the views are incredible, the staff was very kind, the food & drinks are delicious, and they ended up comping our food because of our wait. We got there and it was not busy on the roof. We were the only table with 5 people. We ordered drinks and it took 15 mins for the bartender to get our drinks over to us - and they didn’t have 2 of the drinks. After another 10 mins of waiting we were finally told the champagne we ordered was out so they were looking for more. We said we just wanted to get a different drink, at this point it was almost 30 mins after we arrived and we weren’t even given a water. Eventually we were given drinks and they were absolutely delicious. You have to ask to get refills they don’t come and offer to refill your water or ask if you want another if you’re almost done drinking. We also had ordered food which took over an hour to get to us. As soon as they handed us the food they told us the food was on them because of the wait so I will give them credit that they were very kind, sincere, and they took ownership. But the good took an hour on a day when it wasn’t busy at all. The food was very good- those nachos are 🙌Drinks weren’t strong at all but they tasted great. If they had better service I would recommend this to people.
Couldn’t give the place a five star rating because the barbecue wings were simply nasty. No flavor and hard. The drinks are overpriced but the atmosphere and service were good.
Went here for the final 4 , this was our second visit to the Skysill it is a very cool place and the food and service were exceptional!! Now the issue, our bill was 172 and change, I gave my credit card to our waitress with 40 dollars cash on top. She told us that this is not a cash bar, I said the cash is your tip not for the bill. So I signed the bill for 172 and change with a zero tip since we gave her cash!!!! Just got my statement and card was charged 204 dollars which is not what I signed for. I was not trying to cheat anybody in no shape or form apparently a gratuity was charged to my card I guess. Cash is always the way I tip since it will not be taxed on that person's income. So a 72 tip on 172 is over 40 percent!!!!!!
Made reservations as required but when we arrived they gave our table to a larger group. Though they found us another seating area, it wasn't quite what we expected. Drinks were good and the bartender was great to us. We were told they were short staffed . I expected better from a Westin property.
Came here for the Chalet pop-up. It's very unimpressive. Very small room with limited window view seating. I thought there would be food available but unfortunately just the desserts. The outside lounge was not available. The welcome drinks were good and they do have board games available. Probably won't recommend it to friends or family.
Horrendous service from male bartender sat down and he threw menus at us on the table to the point where one slipped on to the floor when he was chucking them at us. 2 seconds later he’s asking us what we want to order and he can see us visibly picking up the menu off the floor not even taking a look we left sorry you had a crap day taking it out on your customers is ridiculous.
I was really disappointed with Skysill Tempe. The view is nice, but the prices are absolutely outrageous. We ordered just two beers and two margaritas — and the bill came out to $82 before tip. The drinks were average at best, definitely not worth what they’re charging. You can find much better spots in Tempe with better service and more reasonable prices. Definitely not going back.
The food was absolutely disgusting. The drinks were not good as well, and served in plastic cups. I think it was a complete waste of money and should’ve went to another rooftop bar, or to Chili’s or Applebees even. I never write reviews, but honestly I’m upset I wasted money here.
This was one of the worst food and beverage experiences of my entire life. Literally. Just everything about it is awful. From the moment I walked in. There is no hostess or greeter of any kind. I walked over to the bar where I was confronted by no less than 4 employees lounging against the bar, none of whom greeted me. I walked over to what appeared to be an empty seat. I asked if it was taken. It was. I walked over to the four employees who all studiously ignored me. I wandered out to the area with couches and sat down and was completely ignored for 20 minutes despite the fact that it wasn't busy. Finally, a server approached us and took our order. The drinks were $15 and terrible and appeared to have no alcohol whatsoever. The menu is extremely limited, basically bar snacks. We ordered Ahi tacos and Short Rib Sliders, both of which were $18. They were served in a tiny cardboard box with no garnish or side. My companion said the ahi tacos were ok. My short rib sliders were dreadful. Three tiny hard disks with a less than an ounce of meat, no sauce and the slider buns tasted like they had been microwaved and dried out. Really sad. It was like something you would get at a happy hour for free. Out total bill for 2 watery drinks and 2 tiny little snacks was $71. I can't believe a Marriott property would serve food like this. I mean just look at the picture of these sliders! In addition to the terrible food and drinks and service, I really have to comment on the ambience. This is an absolutely gorgeous space. 18th floor rooftop, spectacular views etc. They have absolutely destroyed it by putting a giant TV at one end of the patio that is a) super bright and b) super loud. It's so bright that you literally can't see any of the gorgeous view and the deafening volume makes it the opposite of relaxing. MARRIOT, why in god's name would you take this beautiful space and destroy it with this stupid big screen TV and turn it into a lame, expensive sports bar? Why would you serve this disgraceful food? And why would you staff it with employees who are openly contemptuous of the customers? Unfortunately, I can see by the reviews that our experience was more typical than unique. That's tragic. I've stayed at and patronized Marriott properties all over the world. This is literally the worst run Marriott operation I've ever seen. Nice view though.
Pretty disappointed at this place now to be honest. I’ve been here a total of about 4 times, all with members of family that have visited and/or those in town. The first time I came it was fairly new and had great service with no food on menu as of yet (completely understandable). Second and third time was a quick stop prior to either taking family to airport or to a quick bite to eat elsewhere. Fourth time was a HUGE buss with my husband father in law and myself prior to a comedy show. Views are always the highlight, love how it shows the Arizona flatlands. Got to see unexpected fireworks off in the distance. Unfortunately, the service here is the worst part. Bartender is very observant of those around him. I literally watched multiple couples come to the bar to sit and order and just walk away after waiting so patients for acknowledgement. Waitresses/waiters on the outskirts of your sitting near the pool, tv or edges are only responsive if you ordered food and don’t do a great job bussing completed plates. Lastly, it’s a pretty nice night in Arizona tonight (86 degrees with 30% humidity) and the misters are on. Everyone around us are complaining about being wet but they stay on full blast at 9:30 at night. Overall, I’m a little disappointed and hope you guys can change it up. I understand, it’s June, college is out for the summer so your normal folk aren’t here, and it’s locals pretty much at this point but it’s a great spot and we want to come but gotta figure out service issues and find some people who will do their best when there is still people showing up.
Made a reservation and received confirmation email for my wife's birthday. After making the drive from across town, the lady manager said a larger party ended up reserving the whole venue last minute and she never gave us a table and asked us to leave!
Called to see if they were open and had room for 2 without reservations or being a guest there, we were told yes. When we arrived and finally found parking (paid) then had to walk 2 blocks in the chilly weather, we were unable to get in as the doors were locked to non guests of the hotel.
Visited for the first time and experienced South Florida service in the desert. Rachel right off the bat greeted us with attitude. I would go back if we had a better bartender. I’d also like to point out it was not busy at all.
This really has been my worst dining experience inntye 20 years I have lived in Tempe- and I am used to being in a college town. The bar food was inedible and took more than 30 minutes, we had to wait for warm beers while a line formed at the rooftop bar (there were 3 bartenders who clearly dont know how to handle a very little volume), and the atmosphere was weird and uncomfortable. Dont bother. Edit: ....and to make it worse- i was awakened this morning (exactly 8 hours from having the. Chicken tacos) to food poisoning. Dont eat the food here.
The drinks were expensive for being served in little plastic cups. There was no host or anyone to greet to check in to our reservation nor was a name ever confirmed on the reservation. Eventually a manager sat us and told a larger group of people to clear out away from our table to give us space - very awkward. The server was originally quick & kind but we only each got 1 drink total and when asked for our bill took forever - they eventually explained there was a card machine issue and had to run it downstairs. This proceeded to take over 30 minutes total and there were several staff including our server just standing around when we had to bring the check up to them at the bar to be ran in the first place.Overall it wasn’t the server’s fault but the lack of communication and crazy wait time for one round of drinks at a reserved table was wild. The views were pretty but would not go back.
As a local I’ve gone to skysill for several years with friends to enjoy the great space and views. Last night was quite disappointing. I ordered one round which took almost 15 minutes to pour, so asked for the check immediately. I received a bill to sign with no itemization, but included a tip line. Checking the price of the drinks, it was clear the numbers didn’t add up. I asked the bartender and she happily confirmed “20% auto-gratuity”. A manager was hovering in the seating area so I asked if this was standard practice. He apologized and took my receipt to the register and reversed the charges, saying it was a ‘training issue’. I suspect this is standard practice as it happened to another person in my party as well. Felt very scammy.
Been here twice for EDM events. The bar is the worst experience I’ve had at events. Spent 30 minutes directly on the bar for a drink order, 3 times in one night. That’s an hour and a half of waiting at the bar and not enjoying the event. They are always out of menu drink ingredients and beers, and will pour well soda water instead of champagne in your $28 cocktail, and not tell you they are missing ingredients. The guy in front of me last night waited 30 minutes for a water… My suggestion? Create an event drink menu. If your bartender can’t make the drink in 1 minute, it’s not on the menu. No more complicated cocktails. You should be rocketing beverages out. Events on the weekend are “all hands on deck” periods and should be prioritized, not just a regular Tuesday night on the roof. Especially if you’re charging a service charge, and currently provide terrible service. Do better WESTIN.
Maybe it was just an off night, but the crowd was dry and underage. The music was lame (dudes need to stop doing the MacBook DJ shit, bring back real mixing), and the bar staff was probably some of the slowest I’ve ever experienced. Perhaps this was a new crew or something? But wow. Absolutely no hustle or communication with customers about orders or wait times. Absolutely ridiculous waste of time. If you want to go hang out with 19 year olds and wait 20 minutes for a drink, try this place out
