Great service, ambiance, and decor! Came here with a group of people for dim sum, and we ordered a ton of the menu. Here's some highlights: - seafood congee: great flavor, good amount of seafood and cilantro. If you like congee, get this - Christina's potato balls: an exclusive FJ item! This is brand new, but really tasty. The skin is nice and chewy, there's chicken and vegan options, and the soup is refreshingly light. Def recommend this one - turnip cake: I just really like turnip cake, and the addition of XO sauce was a great choice. - spicy wontons: a traditional FJ wonton, where the skin is made of pork as well. Really tasty, and the spicy sauce has a nice kick Overall, really enjoy this spot. Gonna def come back for dinner to check the other options and dri
I feel like this place is slept on! My dad came in town for a last minute dinner and it was too late to go all the way to sunset park so we looked for an option close by and we are so happy to have found Nin Hao. Chicken bone broth with wontons - these ghostly wontons swimming in a clean clear chicken broth were such a soothing start to the meal. I really enjoyed this, and will come pick it up the next time I need a health pick me up. Razor clams - pricey but worth it to try, tasty. Drunken ribs - ribs cooked perfectly and the sauce was surprising and really good! Crab glass noodles - excellent. Would definitely order again. Great flavors. Seafood fried rice - perfectly done. Sautéed string beans - again, expertly done. Sizzling pan cumin lamb - a must get. My dad said it was one of the best lamb dishes he’s ever had, and that man does not throw out compliments like that easily. It was really good!! Taro pudding bite desserts - great end to the meal, cubed bites with a dense pudding like consistency dusted with coconut flakes and drizzled with yuzu honey. Yum!! TY chef. Service was excellent all around, food was bright and well done, no dishes we didn’t like or would skip. Loved the mahjong tiles as chopstick holders, such a cute touch.
Went here for dinner with my friends and had the best time! All the food we got was delicious, service was excellent, and the overall ambience was lovely. Evan and Allen were so kind and thoughtful! Would definitely go back again to try their other dishes 😊 Ps. Love the mahjong chopstick holders! So cute!
Nin Hao is so special. Great food and wine list, in a beautifully designed restaurant with creative touches. We’ve come for lunch and dinner and loved both. I hosted by husband’s 40th birthday party here and planning could not be easier. Everything, from food to service to vibes, was immaculate. Plus the cocktails are inventive and delicious- do not sleep on them!
This is an amazing place for dinner with friends. A group of 4 or 6 is ideal for you to eat family style and try many of the highlights, and still have more to go back another time with a different group. The vibe is very cool and modern. The waiters are very friendly and took their time to explain the food and the combinations. They seem very proud of the restaurant. The execution of the food was great. For me the highlights were the most tender lamb chops I've ever had, the "duck" fish, and crispy shrimp. The other shrimps, the curry shrimp with tomato had a perfect crisp, but the curry's flavor was too mild. I also went for a solo dinner, but the portions were very large and the flavors didn't manage to hold my interest. Definitely go with a group.
Nin Hao is an absolute treasure for anyone who enjoys authentic and flavorful cuisine. I started with the Fujianese Spicy Rouyan Wonton, which packed a delightful punch, perfectly balanced by the crunch of water chestnuts. The Seafood Pancake was another standout, with Fujianese immigrant oysters and dried seaweed offering a unique taste that’s hard to find elsewhere. The Coco Vancouver Crab Glass Noodle was a heartwarming dish, reminiscent of home cooking, and the Sizzling Pan Cumin Lamb Chop was a showstopper, arriving sizzling hot and richly flavored with cumin. The classic Mapo Tofu was impeccably made with just the right level of spice and the Coconut Taro Pudding Bites ended the meal on a high note, with their delightful combination of ube, milk, and honey. Every dish at Nin Hao was a testament to the chef’s expertise and attention to detail, and the service was as impeccable as the food. If you’re looking for a place that serves up both great food and a welcoming atmosphere, Nin Hao should definitely be on your list!
I had the pleasure of joining Nin Hao on their inaugural day as a laptop-friendly Chinese lunch bento box café. Located in an inviting and modern space in Prospect Heights, Nin Hao is now offering a much-needed, counter-service lunch option available weekdays from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Super ideal for both remote workers and those on the go. I'm Pescatarian and got the Grandma’s Braised Asian Bass Filet, with puff tofu and barramundi, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. The fish was tender and perfectly braised, absorbing the rich, savory flavors of the sauce. The puff tofu added a delightful textural contrast, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, while the barramundi was light yet flavorful, a wonderful complement to the more robust bass. I also got the vegetable spring rolls and watermelon radish salad. The spring rolls were extra crispy and filled with a medley of fresh vegetables, not to mention the sweet sauce, took me to a special place. The watermelon radish salad was unexceptionally crunchy! Similar to their mountain jelly salad they also offer. I Ioved the vibrant colors that provided both visual appeal and a refreshing palate cleanser. The portion size was just right...enough to keep you satisfied and energized for the rest of the workday without feeling too full. Nin Hao’s Bento Box Café is a real gem, blending authentic Chinese flavors with the convenience we all crave. I’m so glad Nin Hao is offering a cafe service and if live in this area, you definitely shouldn’t miss out!
Stopped in for a weekday lunch and was really impressed by the food and environment. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail from the presentation of the food, menu items, music selection, and even the bathroom was gorgeous. The bento box lunch special was delicious and beautiful. 10/10 will be back!
I’ve been to Nin Hao several times and it gets better everytime! The space is stunning. The staff is all wonderful and helpful. The food is a great addition to the neighborhood!! Still trying to find more friends so I have an excuse to try the full chicken… but until then, I can definitely recommend the Curry Lamb Chops, Razor Clams, and Ban Ban Noodles. The cocktails are unique and tasty twists on classics. They also have a great wine assortment AND Hana Makgeolli.
Nin Hao is a gem in Brooklyn—authentic southern Chinese (Fujianese) flavors done right, with standout dishes like the rouyan wontons and seafood pancake. The cocktail list is surprisingly impressive with peanut flavors in it, highly creative, and perfectly matched to the food. Great vibe, stylish space, and warm service. Highly recommend!
I came here with a party of 7 for my wife’s birthday and we preordered 2 of the whole chickens, and it’s one of the greatest decisions I’ve made in my whole life. They we incredible and highly recommend it. The Dan Dan noodles also slapped.
Everything was great. The pork rice balls were a little bland and a little soy sauce or something would have gone a long way but everything else had much more flavor. Dishes labeled as spicy are mildly spicy but more aromatic. We got the rib eye, wontons, ban ban noodles also. Signature craft cocktails are very unique concoctions and interesting flavors!
I took my friends to have Fuzhou cuisine for the first time. This place did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and the waitstaff were all very friendly. We also loved all the decorations and the details in the restaurants. Definitely will be back again.
Had a delicious lunch here! They recently started doing a "laptop friendly power lunch" with a selection of bento boxes ranging from high teens to low $20s in price. Great deal for the quality of food, which is much better than the average Chinese restaurant. Order at the counter, grab a number, pick a table, and the food comes out quickly. I'll be back, it's a great option for a quick sit down work lunch. Pictured is the mapo tofu w/ wontons and radish salad, $19. Also, my fiance is vegan, and they said they could make multiple of the options vegan when asked.

I walked in because the decor was beautiful. I stayed because the food felt like home. As someone who immigrated from Fuzhou at a young age, authentic Fuzhou dishes are rare treasures — usually found only in small neighborhood spots. Seeing so many childhood favorites on the menu honestly surprised me. The drunken chicken, dragon head fish, shrimp, and dumplings were all incredible. Every bite brought back memories I didn’t even realize I missed. After talking with the owner and learning he’s also from Fuzhou, I felt even more connected to this place. There’s real heart here — a genuine desire to share traditional Fuzhou cuisine with more people. Truly special. Highly recommend.
I didn’t expect to find a restaurant that brings Fujian culture to life so beautifully outside of China — but this place truly does. Unlike many “Asian” restaurants that blend regional flavors together, this one is proudly city-specific. It focuses on authentic Fujian cuisine, and you can feel that intention in every dish. This isn’t generic Chinese food — it’s deeply rooted in local tradition and identity. The shrimp appetizer was absolutely killing it — fresh, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly addictive. My kid finished the entire plate by himself, so we immediately ordered it again. That rarely happens. The cold chicken was just as impressive — tender, clean in flavor, and very true to Fujian-style preparation. The steamed fish was excellent and noticeably different from the more common Cantonese-style steamed fish. The seasoning felt lighter yet more layered, highlighting freshness in a uniquely Fujian way. The rice cake tasted exactly like the ones I had when visiting Fujian, China — soft, chewy, and nostalgic. The noodles and fried dumplings are true Fujian snack staples, not the usual Americanized versions. It really felt like eating local street food from a specific city, not a broad “Asian” menu. The Wellington beef was incredibly tender — it literally melted in the mouth. What really stood out was the way they served it. It came with bun bread, which traditionally is paired with condensed milk for dipping. But here, instead of condensed milk, they paired the bun bread with rich crab sauce from the dish. That creative twist completely elevated it. The savory crab sauce soaking into the soft bun created a perfect balance — indulgent, unexpected, and so well thought out. This restaurant isn’t just serving food — it’s promoting Fujian culinary culture to the world. It celebrates a city’s identity through its flavors. If you’re looking for something truly different from the usual Asian restaurant experience, this is it. Authentic, nostalgic, creative — and unforgettable.
Absolutely love Nin Hao, it has become a regular spot for us over the last 6 months. The vibe is fun, the food is fantastic -- BBQ pork buns, string beans, mountain jelly salad, general tso’s chicken -- just to name a few must-have dishes. Also love their weekend dim sum brunch! And the service never fails to impress. For the parents in the audience -- the restaurant itself is very kid-friendly with high chairs and a complete kid service bowls/plates/chopsticks available. This is fantastic for me personally since I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I also want to make special mention of a recent occasion -- we celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday with lunch at Nin Hao. The process was simple, I reached out to Evan (the owner) who was very responsive and helped with the reservation and with drawing up a pre-fixe menu for 15 people, keeping dietary preferences and allergies in mind. The food and cocktails were delicious, service was lovely as always, and Evan very kindly threw in birthday dessert as well! Basically -- we’re die hard fans :)
Delicious, surprising, relaxing. You can tell they have been thoughtful about every element of the dining experience. Every dish we had was flavorful and high quality. The wine list was surprising and curated with expertise (they had an exceptional Hungarian Haraslevu!!!!) We will be back to try everything and anything. Thank you for making Dean Street exciting!

We found the atmosphere to be quite vibrant yet secluded in the corner. This shielded us from the otherwise noisy room. The portion sizes are quite small and relatively expensive. The seasoning of pork ribs was quite well done with an extra pick of spiciness - same with the mapo tofu. The butterfly style fish paired surprisingly well with the tofu as it prevented the fish from absorbing excess soy sauce. The chicken was a bit lackluster, especially as the sauce made the crisp skin moist.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Chinese Food | Sichuan Bento | Occasional Identity Crisis Walked in expecting aesthetic over substance, you know, the kind of place where everything arrives too fast and too pretty to taste like anything. But MáLà surprised me. Beneath the sleek bento plating and trendy pace, there’s a kitchen with actual flavor authority. 🔹 Asian Chili Shredded Beef: Absolutely the star. Tender, juicy, wok-charred edges, and just the right heat. I was suspicious when it landed seconds after I ordered, but it earned every bite. 🔹 Wuhan Rouyan Wontons (yes, Rouyan, not “Wuhan Wuhan”): Deeply spiced, lovely chew, bathed in an oil I’d happily frame. 🔹 Watermelon Radish Salad: Bright, crunchy, and sneakily spicy. Think produce with personality. 🔹 Hot & Sour Soup: The only real miss. Too mild. Like the intern that shows up early but never speaks up, present, technically correct, but forgettable. 🍸 The Cocktail: Lychee-forward, slightly floral, solid. Not life-changing, but it plays its part. Service was ultra-quick, almost suspiciously so, but in this case, fast didn’t mean careless. Every dish landed strong. My only real complaint? The online and in-person menus don’t quite match, which makes ordering feel like a trust fall into mystery umami. ✅ Would come back. 🧨 Would bring friends. 🥄 Would skip the soup.

Vibey restaurant with fujianese fusion food. We liked the mains - the steamed fish was great and so was the lamb chops (must get!) The dan dan noodles had good texture but probably needed some more toppings and the razor clams were good but a little tough. Would skip the string beans (felt undercooked) and the braised eggplants (just was not impressed by the flavor). Would totally come back here for dinner again if in the area!
Pretty good place for Chinese food! Did a walk in with a friend on a Sunday afternoon and was seated immediately. We got the fujianese pork, the stir fried porky noodle, and the seafood congee. All were really delicious and would recommend them all. The pork was saucy and crispy, the noodles bouncy and balanced with the toppings, the seafood congee flavorful and warm. The inside itself is a fun eclectic vibe with fun, bright colors, and service was quick!
I really wanted to like this place and was really looking forward to having a Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. The decor and atmosphere is so beautiful - I’m obsessed with the fish tank. The menu is very coy and cheeky but in a way that made us have to ask our server a lot of questions. Since it a new restaurant too, there’s not much to go off of so we would have preferred a more descriptive menu. We loved the jelly salad - very interesting texture but in the best way possible. The lamb was also amazing! Highly suggest the lamb Although the duck came highly recommended by the server, it was mid and a little sweet. The wontons were good but nothing special and they’re kind of small. The short ribs with the egg yolk was good but not everyone in our party liked it. We also ordered the seafood pancake and honestly it was bad. It was really greasy and almost all fried dough. Each slide only had 1/4 coverage of the seafood if that. The toppings were very sparse. We also made the mistake of ordering the pancake and the “duck” because it just felt like a lot of fried food. Hoping they improve the restaurant and would be open to try again but would probably wait awhile.
As a Chinese who has been embedded in the Fuzhounese community, I was excited to try this new restaurant with my fellow first and second-gen Fujianese friends. Unfortunately, our experience was rather disappointing. We each spent over $50 and left feeling hungry. The prices are 5x-10x higher than the everyday Fuzhounese places you’d find in Chinatown or Sunset Park, yet the taste and feeling of food simply doesn’t measure up compared to those places. The restaurant has clearly put a lot of effort into creating a nice atmosphere and style, but it doesn’t translate to the dining experience or food quality. The wonton soup had a nice chicken broth, but that was the only highlight. The seafood pancake was overly greasy when compared to the authentic Amoy style oyster pancake, with only about 25% of it being enjoyable; the rest was just bland and heavy. While the service was friendly, it felt a bit disconnected from the authenticity I expected. Overall, the food didn’t match the price or concept, and we were left wanting much more. I hope they can improve, as I really wanted to support a local Fuzhounese/Chinese place in the neighborhood.
