Opiniones de Drai Vicoforte
My husband and I occasionally stop at this pastry shop, which is on the road for our summer and winter excursions. For us, it's a treat to stop for breakfast: croissants, latte macchiatos, and sublime coffees. The owners and staff are very kind and polite, and the atmosphere is elegant. I dream of an aperitif in the evening; who knows, maybe soon. I highly recommend stopping by. The shop is located under the arcades of Vicoforte, overlooking the view of the sanctuary.
I only frequent this bar during the sanctuary fair. I can only comment on the excellent coffee and the quick, friendly service. A special note and thanks to the lady who manages the bathrooms, which are spotless.
Smiling service...ice creams to die for...we didn't try their pastries but everything looked very tempting.
Every time I enter the restaurant, it's a wonderful journey back to when I used to come here with my grandparents. The staff is always available, kind, and smiling, and the service is always attentive and meticulous. The restaurant is comfortable and always spotlessly clean. We love coming here for a snack, enjoying the delicious specialties on offer. Every time we return to the Sanctuary, we can't help but stop by and stock up on the fabulous cornmeal pastries, the extraordinary rice puddings, and the excellent biscuits... This is a place that stays in your heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great selection of pastries, beverages, and ice cream
Friendly service, great pastries, gorgeous setting.

Locale situato sotto i portici, difronte al Santuario. Questo bar/pasticceria offre vasta scelta sia per la colazione che per uno spuntino veloce a pranzo o merenda, sia per dolce che per salato. Brioche buone, pasticceria fresca e ottima. Rapporto qualità/prezzo buona. Locale pulito e curato e personale molto disponibile e professionale. Sicuramente da provare
This is the Sanctuary's most historic café. I still remember the excitement and taste of the torcetti after the procession to the Basilica. The wait staff is busy and very friendly. The place isn't too big, with just a few tables, and the problem of all the other cafés in the building...the bathroom. The gelato is good, and there's a good selection of ice cream sundaes.
We've been to this place on several occasions... for a quick coffee at the counter with a pastry, excellent! Or for an aperitif, which didn't quite meet my expectations... The Spritz, all ice in the Crodino glass, seemed like a "baby" version... Also, the service was incredibly slow; we waited forever...
A historic Sanctuary restaurant in an excellent location. The summer terrace overlooking the square offers a great view of the Basilica. The classic breakfast of cappuccino and pastries is good quality. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow: 20 minutes from when we sat down (after letting them know we were sitting outside) to when we received our order. Maybe we're used to the city, okay, but here they have a different pace, but it still seemed excessive. Even when it comes to paying at the register, speed isn't the primary concern, so much so that some customers behind us complained about the wait... A little more attention to occasional tourists wouldn't be unwelcome.
Fatto tappa in una pasticceria storica fronte al santuario di Vicoforte! Il gelato è buono la pasticceria è ottima ma deve migliorare il servizio. L’arredamento dovrebbe subire un aggiornamento!
A place very popular with the elderly but not only located in the area of Piazza Carlo Emanuele I where the statue and the sanctuary are located respectively. Returning to the pastry shop, a big problem is the few seats and sometimes you even have to wait, the very slow service and the self-service catering unacceptable in a pastry shop and in such a magnificent area.
If I ask you for a bombardino and you have finished the Vov, I would appreciate it being said without adding anything else and not making it seem normal (which really smacks of mockery).
They also make sandwiches. Fair prices. Strategic location. They have lots of pastries. The vanilla ice cream is tasteless and watery, the hazelnut is good, but it's a shame about the ice chunks inside. The girls are good, but the wait is incredibly long.
Vicoforte is a beautiful place, but I would never return to Pasticceria/Gelateria Drai. After spending €70 on pastries and ice cream to go, and while the clerk was putting away my ice cream, my little son asked for a meringue, and the clerk gave it to him, telling us that the bill was €70. Of course, no one should give you anything free, but after I made a great purchase and the child asked for a meringue, you even charged for a meringue. I'm speechless. I will definitely never go back there again!
I hate to give this judgment to a place that boasts nearly 60 years of business, but the experience was negative. This bar/pastry shop enjoys an excellent location, nestled beneath the porticoes of the brick building that frames the imposing Sanctuary, designed with the latter by Ascanio Vitozzi and originally intended as a hospital, hospice, and inn for pilgrims. While I love the old-fashioned decor, I found the interiors stale, with heavy use of wood weighing down the atmosphere and mottled chairs with often worn upholstery. We ordered two puff pastry risottos with jam and cappuccino and a house fruit aperitif. The risottos, dry and lacking in flavor, didn't seem fresh to me. The tart aperitif lacked any fruit and was barely finished. It was accompanied by cheap snacks (olives, chips, peanuts) and an unappetizing sandwich. Furthermore, the aseptic service was not welcoming enough and the prices, in some cases, were decidedly above average (€1.50 for a small bottle of water and €2.50 for a cappuccino with soy milk).
There were two of us. We sat down and both asked for a non-alcoholic drink. Two glasses arrived with 3 cm of brown liquid. I discovered it was fruit juice. Of course, I paid for it as a cocktail. I'll change the venue next time.
The pastry shop's offerings are carefully curated and well-executed. Less so, however, is the attention paid to those who enter. The smile, it seems, has been left behind. One gets the feeling that the customer is an afterthought, rather than part of the experience. An attitude that, beyond the individual incident, risks undermining the efforts of those who work seriously to promote the area and attract tourism to areas that truly need it.
