Such a family oriented restaurant! Everyone knows everyone
5 out of 5 Bear Paws 🐾 So much delicious food that we started ordering beef fajitas for 1...we go for the flavor and service. One of the best...
Really good food with ample portions. Our server was great. It was a busy Saturday night but we didn't have to wait long.
Day trip to Waco today with four adults, one child. We dined at El Conquistador for a late lunch. Excellent service and Excellent food in a clean casual restaurant. Thank you!
Always good been coming here and the other two locations for years . Best sour cream chicken enchilada ever !!!
Love El Con! Always consistent, great service and you know what to expect. One of Wacos greatest!
We ate there for dinner the other night. We got the sizzling fajita plate as well as the fajita strips. The food was decent. Steak steak quite Chewey. Lastly we ordered two large sangria margaritas which we awesome. The best part of the night was our server, Vanessa! She was kind, super sweet, and always checked on us. She also gave us some sopa pias (fried sugar dough) before we left. if you’re in the area and want some decent Mexican food, go there and ask for Vanessa to be your waitress!!!
The food was the best Mexican food that we have had in many years. The owner was exceptionally nice and made us a meal to go even though they weren't officially still open. Great in every way!!!
Best shrimp tacos I've ever had. Always good food and great family atmosphere
Fajitas are great and come with all the things you want with Fajitas that other restaurants up charge for - sour cream, guacamole, cheese, Pico, etc. Sopapiilas with honey are life changing, and make me want to give up on trying to be skinny. Don't leave without getting a sopapiila!
If you want honest, down home, no frills southwestern American Mexican food… this is it! Looove the sopapillas! Chips and salsa are just yummy! Quality of food is always on par. The carnitas tacos are awesome and their combination plates are good! Service has pretty much always been good…but the attitude has always been the best-as in-come in, let’s feed you!
We had Andrea as our server. She was very friendly and personable, answered any questions we had, and knew the menu. We got the guacamole salad, chicken fajitas, and a combo plate. I forgot the name. Chips were crisp, salsa was nice with a building heat, and while the guacamole was just mashed avocados, they were perfectly ripe. Huge chunks of chicken for the fajitas. The tamales were so good as were the charro beans, refried beans, and the RICE. The rice was very tasty. The prices were extremely fair. Will absolutely return.
Every time we come here we get excellent service and the food is absolutely delicious! The margaritas were good, on the rocks was better than the frozen. Our server Dillon was great, he went above and beyond. This is truly a family restaurant and they make you feel like part of the family. Great job El Conquistador!
Being native Texans living out of state we crave authentic Tex-Max when we travel back to visit family & friends. El Conquistador didn’t disappoint!! Loved everything from the salsa & chips to the margaritas & Texas sized draft beer to our tacos, enchiladas & tamales!! Had the best waiter who took great care of us. Definitely put them on your list for your go to Mexican restaurants 😉
Food was amazing. I had the Burrito Dinner and it was really good. Everyone else said their food was good as well. Service was awesome for as packed as it was. Our server was very respectful and patient with us. Atmosphere was cool. I liked the decor. Had a knight and some awesome paintings. 4 stars just because the parking is too small for the amount of customers they had. We went during dinner rush. Overall great place to me and excellent food.
Food quality is consistent. You don't get huge fluctuations. I've only been there twice, and the service is good. The very cute young lady with braces that waited for us this week was excellent.
Really good! Jesus was great! Friendly, helpful, polite and attentive. He recommended the Tacos Al Carbon which I hadn’t noticed, with both varieties (beef and chicken) and the salsa verde which was awesome! He did a great job (Thanks Jesus). The food was great as was the service! Atmosphere is a bit older but the staff keeps the place clean from what I can tell. Overall I would definitely go back!
Had an birthday gathering. They were accommodating to our large group so that is always nice. I ordered the beef fajitas for one. Although the Meat was tender, not very flavorful. Strawberry margaritas were decent. Our server handled the large group with great service. Queso was a little watery to for my taste. Free chips and salsa are always a plus. Nice restaurant for families.
We got a table easy. The problem we had was waiting 20 minutes to be waited on. Then the waitress was in such a hurry. She said she'd put a rush on our order! That was not a good thing! Food looked like it was just thrown on the plate. And it wasn't even hot food! 2 meals were barely warm and 1 plate the enchiladas were cold feeling in the center! First time we've had problem at this place. We certainly won't be going back any time soon!
Working in the area, I decided to meet my dad and an out of town relative for a quick lunch. First to arrive, I was seated early and my father not far behind me. Nursing a knee injury, he limped to our table with a strained look on his face, to be followed by a man in an El Con shirt with a scowl. He leaned down and began berating with my dad who had apparently parked in the to go parking and the man insisted he move. My dad told him he couldn't walk far due to his injured knee and he told him to move to the handicapped slot next to it or the open space a few down. I told him he did not have a handicap tag (while being a Veteran, he is not disabled even in his 60's but is nursing a torn ACL). The man did not seem to care and loudly asked (at this point he had created a scene to which the dining room was already staring at) if he knew what to-go parking was for. I fail to understand how it was necessary to embarrass or make a clearly limited older man walk farther than painfully necessary if there were open spaces as close as he insisted for his to-go patrons. I could maybe understand if he was not eating at his restaurant but taking up his parking. Not wanting to be embarrassed or offended further, we promptly left. Ordering a few times a month from there I'd never seen this man before and while we don't plan on going back, I hope he is not the face of this restaurant as he does not mirror the customer service the About page describes to their elders or veterans.
Margs are good. I’d advise to ask for an extra shot along with. If you get a flavored marg, ask for extra flavor/syrup. Queso was below par, which is abnormal for El Con :( found an unmelted chunk of cheese in our “cup”. Ordered the Chimichanga meal. Instead of ONE, there was three, smaller chimichangas, filled with nothing but “shredded” chicken. No seasoning other than a small amount of salt & pepper thrown on, at best. (Tasted and smelled like canned chicken) no beans, no rice, no sauce within or on top of the mini chimichangas …there was also couple of fork marks on one of the “chimichangas”. I guess to check for doneness? Literally was mini tortillas, wrapped around canned chicken… The Bellmead location is better. Got the check, tipped well, and our waitress was nice, and did her best.
