OMG!!!!! It was my first time ever ordering from this place. I ordered a Mofongo with chicharon.🤤🤤🤤. First time I ate mofongo with Alfredo sauce, because usually it comes with a red sauce. Did not disappoint at all. Will be coming here for sure to try out the rest of the menu. Also, the person that helped me was so nice and welcomed me. She also told we the events they have Monday through Sunday. It’s a small place but looks like a good vibe.
Hey, just gotta share - had the most epic time at Casita RD! Masi's vibe was so welcoming, got us seated right away. Started with some killer mojitos, then boom! the food blew us away! And let me tell ya, haven't had fish this amazing in ages! Went for the Boca Chica fish with tostones and it was a flavor explosion. It came with a delicious side salad that I enjoyed. My husband's Churrasco was on point too. Vibes were unreal, music was vibing, and the staff was very professional? 10 out of 10. Can't wait to come back for brunch real soon! 🍹🎶👩🍳
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I recommend to try the mofongo, kept me full all day. Drinks are really good too!
this is my second time here and once again everything was on point! the food was a 10/10 with great portions!! and our server was very helpful with quick service !
Had an amazing experience here today. The service was excellent from the staff to the food to the atmosphere everything was great thank you so much to Jessica and Isabel for making us feel like we’re at home
I had the pleasure of dining at Casita RD for Father’s Day, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and vibrant atmosphere made us feel right at home. Our server, Bernice, was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with drinks: an Old Fashioned and a cucumber cocktail, both expertly crafted and refreshing. For appetizers, we chose the chicken empanadas and the Sajoma sushi roll. The empanadas were perfectly crispy on the outside with a flavorful, juicy filling, and the Sajoma sushi roll was a delightful fusion, combining traditional sushi elements with Dominican flair. Our entrees were equally impressive. We had the chicken mofongo, which was a hearty and satisfying dish with tender chicken and perfectly mashed plantains. We also enjoyed the Dominican pizza, a unique and delicious twist on a classic, topped with flavorful ingredients that perfectly balanced each bite. My daughter loved her pechurina, which was crispy, tender, and seasoned to perfection. To cap off an amazing meal, we indulged in the chocolate lava cake for dessert. It was decadently rich with a gooey, molten center that was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Overall, Casita RD provided an outstanding dining experience with excellent food and top-notch service. Bernice and the entire staff made our Father’s Day celebration special. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for authentic and delicious Dominican cuisine!
We absolutely love Casita Rd. in Baldwin! Since opening our paint and sip, we've visited so many times, and each experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Being a family-owned restaurant, they create such a warm and inviting atmosphere, making us feel like part of their family every time we walk in. The food is phenomenal—every dish is a delight, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality offered. It's always a pleasure to dine here, and we truly appreciate how they treat every guest with love and care. If you're looking for a fantastic meal in a friendly environment, don’t hesitate to visit Casita Rd. We can't recommend them enough! Five stars from us!
Had an amazing dining experience at Casita Rd! Our waiter, Anderson, was absolutely fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. He was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and Anderson’s service truly made our night special. Highly recommend asking for him if you visit!
Our waiter Anderson was great! He was very attentive, constantly asked us if we were good and was very friendly and helpful.
Out for dinner with friends for restaurant week & found a gem of a restaurant in Baldwin! From the lovely waitress, Erica who thoroughly knew the menu, to the DELICIOUS food on the menu, we had a perfect evening. Every dish was delicious from the apps (empanadas, casita buffalo wings & mofunguitos) to the entrees of grilled skirt steak w/chimichuri sauce, fried whole snapper w/fried plantain & salad . Thank you, Casita. We will definitely be back again.
Always a great time at Casita! I love the Dominican pizza. I came in today for dinner, and Anderson took care of us. Very attentive, personable, and nice.
THE BEST FOOD I HAVE HAD IN A WHILE. If you were in the area or thinking of coming here i cannot recommend it more! I got the churrasco chimmichuri with the side of rice and beans and it was more than enough for two hungry people! everything was so flavorful and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier, will be coming back!!! Plate was licked clean🤣🤣
As soon as I walked into Casita RD, I noticed the stunning interior design. They put a lot of thought and love into creating such a warm, inviting space. I was greeted with a genuine smile by the hostess, which added to the overall warmth. We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday, and I was truly impressed by the attentive and friendly service throughout the night. Our waitress was not only friendly, but also helpful when it came to choosing from the menu. I ended up ordering the snapper, and it was absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of the evening was the birthday celebration. The staff delivered the most enthusiastic rendition of "Happy Birthday" I’ve ever seen at a restaurant. On top of that, there was live music featuring a talented singer and guitarist who performed a mix of genres. It added to the lovely ambiance. Lastly, the bathrooms were clean! Clean restrooms might seem like a small detail, but it’s a sign of a well-run restaurant. I highly recommend Casita RD!
Start with a concise overview of your experience, highlighting its in casita Rd was a truly memorable experience. The best of all is that the person who served me is very kind, affectionate, and friendly. Very helpful. Thank you very much for everything. You are the best thing about the restaurant♥️Anderson veloz
We had a great experience at Casita RD, specially I want to point out the attention we had from Isabel. We didn’t know what to get and she kindly and patiently guided us and made us feel welcome. 10/10 will return for sure.
We had our baby brunch at Casita RD, and the experience was absolutely phenomenal!! From the moment we arrived to the (bittersweet) moment we had to kick our family out , everything was perfect. The food and drinks were on point, and the vibes were even better. Huge thanks to Massiel, Chef Papi, and the entire Casita RD staff for making our lunch so special. We’re so grateful for the warmth, hospitality, and delicious memories.
This is a hidden gem of a place, not a huge spot but very comfortable and great vibes, nice music not too loud or too quiet. The food was delicious I had the sajoma sushi roll and delicious La Massy cocktail. The service was great and friendly provided by our handsome waiter Anderson, food and drinks was fast and amazing I can’t wait to come back already!
The food especially the sushi was amazing. Isabel the waitress was very attentive and nice. She made sure to get our order quick & efficiently. 10/10 experience and would most likely come back!
The food was amazing it was top notch it felt like I was back in Dominican Republic again and I loved the inside and all the decorations and I loved the service the most it was one of my favorite parts about this restaurant my waitress (Anderson) was very friendly loved the experience would 100% come again
Great place, we enjoyed the food, atmosphere and drinks. They have great service, Aracelis gave us great drinks and dessert recommendations. Will definitely return.
Best food Chef Papi is amazing! Massiel the owner service is outstanding! Their staff are professional and friendly! The prices are very reasonable for the quality you are getting. The fried fish made you feel like you are in the Dominican Republic by the Beach! Followed by the coconut flan that was one of the best I ever tasted. Thank you for making our Sunday!
Casita RD knows how to represent. The authentic Dominican food was outstanding, with every dish bursting with rich, vibrant flavors. I highly recommend the spicy passion fruit margarita—it’s a perfect blend of sweet and heat, making it a must-try. The atmosphere was equally impressive, with lively music and decor that transported me straight to the Dominican Republic. The vibes were inviting, making the entire experience feel like a mini-vacation. If you’re looking for a taste of the DR, or a good time out, this place is a gem. Can’t wait to go back!
My 2nd time visiting "CASITA RD" and I came to eat with my wife and kids. Didn't had any reservation and the manager (Massy) was very polite and told us the wait time was going to be around 30min. So we went for a walk with kids so they won't get bored and after 20mins Massy called me saying they have a table ready for us. Once we entered, she took care of us quickly and professionally. Her waiter "Kristie" I kinda forgot her name sorry for that but I know it's starts with letter K, she also was very professional and polite. They brought crayons for my kids to draw while we waited for our food. The food and drinks were amazing. Massy came to our table once we finished eating and my wife, kids and me had a great conversation. Massy also told us they have (KARAOKE) night on Friday's so we will be stopping by soon. Overall one of the best experience I ever had. I was a waiter for 6yrs and I have lots of experience on customer service in this field and I'm super impressed with everything they did today.
My friends recommended this place, so we decided to go on Valentine’s Day. The steak and tostones were seasoned perfectly—some of the best I’ve ever had. I also had rice and beans, which were really good. My girl had the salmon with rice, and she loved it.
We celebrated my mom's birthday here on Saturday, November 22nd. We were able to get a reservation the same day with no "time limit" the way similar restaurants have. Jessica was our server. She was beyond helpful, and friendly. We had a complicated party. As 1 was vegetarian and 2 pescatarian. However, Jessica was patient and helped picked the right meal for all. My mom LOVED it. We all loved our food and the amazing service. The music was good. We never felt rushed or not taken care of. Cant wait to go back!
I hosted a private event at Casita RD to celebrate my husband’s 40TH Birthday and what an epic evening it was. Aesthetically the space is beautiful and filled with so many unique details. The owners and the entire staff are warm and attentive of all your needs. And the FOOD & DRINKS ARE SUPERIOR!! It was the most PERFECT place to celebrate and all my guests keep raving about how amazing and delicious everything was and what a great time they had. Hosting an event in Casita RD is truly a one of a kind memorable experience. I highly and enthusiastically recommend this restaurant to everyone.
The food was very good! We had Jarabacoa Roll (never had anything like it 5*), the 3 Mofongitos chicken, 2 steak and eggs, sushi roll and the French toast. Margarita was delicious and passion fruit juice! Prices are great!! Very nice staff and attentive. The only downside was the music. It was too loud for us and could barely speak to one another. We invited my brother in law and his wife for her birthday. We all left with a headache but happy with everything else.
One of the best restaurants I have been to in years. Everything was 10/10. Amazing drinks, good atmosphere. The food was crazy. I have been to a lot of hyped up Dominican spots in the city and this place blows them away. The sauces were delicious. Worth the drive to long island if you not out here. I didn't get our waitress name but she was on top of her game, memorizing our drinks and everything. Best service. Telling everyone about this place!
The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. And don’t get me started on the drinks !! What made the experience even better was the amazing service by Kristy. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Amazing food and atmosphere. Waitress Isabel was super attentive and accommodating! I recommend the chofan and the Dominican sushi. Come here for authentic Dominican flavors with a modern twist. Definitely coming back!
We came here on a Friday night for Noche Bohemia. The artist that night was amazing, Eliacim! He was so talented and sang awesome classics the entire night. But as soon as we arrived at the restaurant we felt welcome, everyone had a huge smile on their faces and it felt genuine. we didn’t make a reservation, but we went to the bar to wait for a table, which is exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to meet the bartenders. They were friendly and very professional and the drinks were delicious. I ordered the lychee martini and the presentation was on point and my Lychees were fresh. I got 2 lychees! Later we sat at the table and we ordered lots of things to try. Everything was so good. Something I noticed too is that all the guests Were well dressed, that’s something I pay attention to, so if you come to this place dress to impress. This can be a perfect place for a romantic date night or any special ocassion. The entire experience felt very classy and expensive, although prices are very reasonable and modest. I really have no negatives. Can’t wait to be back with friends.
The food here is absolutely incredible! We tried the Sajoma Sushi and the Mofonjitos de Chicharrón, and both were amazing—100/10! The highlight of our experience, though, was the service. Hillary went above and beyond to make our date night unforgettable. She was truly amazing! We’re already looking forward to coming back.”
We came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and everything was perfect. Our waitress, Araceli, took incredible care of us — she went above and beyond to make sure the whole night ran smoothly and that we had everything we needed. The service truly made the experience special. The food was amazing, fresh, and full of flavor. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and great vibes. We’ll definitely be coming back!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, and I want to give a special shout-out to Anderson for providing truly exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, he was warm, attentive, and incredibly professional. He made great recommendations, ensured everything was perfect throughout the meal, and made us feel genuinely welcome. It’s rare to find someone who combines friendliness with such attention to detail—thank you, Anderson, for making our evening so enjoyable! We’ll definitely be back. Must try “La CAJITA PLATTER”
First time coming by the spot. Casita RD definitely gives you that sense of old Dominican tradition the decoration gives you a glance of the Dominican culture and history. The food was delicious and the customer service was great Massiel who I believe to be the MOD was very attentive and even went ahead to provide a unique recommendation to the traditional Old fashion. The waitress Kristy was a delight, she was attentive and always checking on us throughout the entire time my friend and I were eating. Great place to bring the whole family. Ps don’t forget the side of tostones.
Celebrated my birthday here, everything was great, food savory, our server Natalia super attentive, the drinks were on point, prices are decent not pricey at all, ambiance is cozy & full of surprises with their singing happy birthday full of energy to live music by Randy. Perfect place for any occasion.
Absolutely incredible experience at Casita RD—what a way to end the year! My girlfriend and I ate here for the first time tonight , and it was hands down the best food we’ve had all year. It’s rare to find authentic, top-quality Dominican food in Long Island, which is why so many of us usually travel to the boroughs. Knowing that this gem is right in our town is a game-changer! We ordered the Dominican pizza, Dominican sushi, and mofonguitos, and every bite was packed with flavor. The food was creative, authentic, and absolutely delicious. The ambience was perfect—warm and inviting, with great music that added to the vibe. The service was excellent; the staff was friendly and attentive, and our food came out in a timely manner. If you’re looking for amazing Dominican food, this place is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend! WEEPAA 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
Casita RD in Baldwin was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious and full of flavor, and the waitress, Jessica, was excellent—so welcoming and attentive. Such a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
I can’t say enough good things about this place!!! The staff is so friendly. We made a reservation and were seated right away. The drinks were delicious. Margaritas and mojitos. The food was incredible. The Chimichurri skirt steak was beyond words. So well presented. Came with salad and a side. We also had the grilled shrimp which was equally amazing. Highly recommend this place. It’s small and intimate. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Overall 5 Star!!! Service & Food was great!!! Had a mamajuana old fashion and big papi hero…. EXCELLENT!!! My wife had honey arugula salad with chichen and a sanjira which she enjoy. My mom-in-law had a chicken ceaser salad which was flavorful! Also had a strawberry lemonade that quenched her thurst! We shared the Sajoma Sushi Roll…. One of the best rolls I’ve had in a very long time! Flavors were on point! I would highly recommend and we will be coming back!
What a wonderful surprise right here in Baldwin! Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, it is an oasis inside. The decor was wonderful, the food was amazing and the coconut mojito was delightful. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and a pleasure to have. I totally recommend this restaurant!
Came here for lunch with my boyfriend and had a great experience. Food was fresh and tasty, and the atmosphere was perfect for a laid-back date. shoutout to Isabel she was so kind, attentive, and made everything smooth and enjoyable. Service like that makes all the difference. We’ll be back!
Best Dominican food I’ve tried on Long Island. The flavors were very authentic. That mofongo was so so good omg. It felt as if we were eating in the DR. Food tastes like home for sure. It was my boyfriend first time trying Dominican food and he really enjoyed it. Also, the service was fast. Jessica, our server was sweet and patient. Will definitely be back.
Food and drinks were delicious. The staff were super casual and friendly. We attended the painting session. Definitely was worth it. Had a wonderful time, came home with a beautiful piece of artwork that we created, which we never thought we could. They’re always have different activities going on. But most importantly, their food portions are great. Prices are excellent for the portion and the taste. Highly recommended. This is our new go to place with our friends.
Had a great time at Mi Casita RD. The food was full of flavor and the vibe was really nice. Our server Kristy was super friendly and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely coming back. 👍
Absolutely amazing experience at Casita RD! The food was incredible — full of authentic flavor and beautifully prepared. The hostess was excellent and made us feel welcome right away. Reservations are definitely suggested on the weekends because it gets busy (and now I know why!). Our waitress, Araceli, was wonderful — so polite, attentive, and genuinely sweet. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making the whole experience even better. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back again!
Had such a great time when i went Saturday the 28th . The food was amazing and the drinks were just as good everything was on point. But the real highlight of the night was the DJ! I believe his name was DJ Mayimbe, and he absolutely killed it. The music, the energy, the vibe… everything was perfect. He kept the crowd going all night! I’m definitely going back on Thursdays just to see him play again. Highly recommend! 🔥🎶
We have been dining at Casita RD since they have opened and they do not disappoint. As soon as you walk in, you are welcomed and attended to quickly. The staff is always very friendly and you are made to feel like family. The menu is fantastic and there options for everyone on the menu. We usually start with empanadas and mofonguitos. The drinks are well made, colorful with the just the right blend of ingredients and reasonably priced. Then we move on to the entree and choose from some of our favorite dishes. Some of the choices we enjoy but are not limited to are the mofongo with skirt steak, coconut salmon, pene ala vodka, or the chofan rice. Our kids enjoy the sliders and empanadas. Then we always end the experience with our favorite dessert the freshly made lava cake. It’s a friendly and comfortable experience with great music in the background as you enjoy your meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Arecli provided outstanding service from start to finish. They were friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Our drinks were always refilled promptly, and they checked on us just the right amount without being intrusive. They made great recommendations and ensured our order was accurate and delivered quickly. Their positive attitude truly enhanced our dining experience. We will definitely be returning and asking for them again.
Love coming here for the sushi , Dominican pizza and empanadas !!!! You can’t go wrong with really anything but if you come make sure you try one of those for sure. The food is extremely filling and most importantly DELICIOUS and FLAVORFUL!! Some of the best Dominican food in queens and LI. The service is also also very quick and friendly . We got here and instantly it felt like we were in the DR. The atmosphere is beautiful and good music. The food was delicious. Churassco was thick and flavorful. And the service was amazing. Anderson was very kind and welcoming and always checked up with the table. Great place!
We had an amazing experience here! The service was truly exceptional every single employee was top-notch and attentive, and they made sure we had everything we asked for. The food was absolutely incredible, a solid 10/10, full of flavor and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was just as great the music, the vibe, everything came together perfectly. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was such a sweet and welcoming lady. This is also where we spent New Year’s Eve, and it was a beautiful party such a fun and memorable way to bring in the New Year. It’s a small place in a beautiful neighborhood, but it delivers BIG on quality. You truly feel like you’ve been transported back to the Dominican Republic. Highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic Dominican food, great service, and a wonderful environment. We will definitely be back!
Casita RD was the perfect place to host our baby shower. Massiel, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure every detail felt special. Her staff was attentive, welcoming, and on point with everything we needed. Chef Papi’s food was incredible and our guests are still talking about how good everything tasted. The drinks were amazing, the service was unmatched, and the overall experience truly was the best. We are so grateful to the whole Casita RD team for making our celebration unforgettable.
We have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. Our waitress today, Isabel, was so friendly and personable and made us the best drinks. The vibe was great even and it always feels like we are hanging out with family. Food was delicious and came out quickly all the time. 10/10 experience!!
Back on August 22, 25 (as per usual random date nights), I have been wanted to come here. Upon arriving like 9ish, went in and it was a full house and the hostess asked if we had reservations (didnt know we needed but in advance everyone should do it!) which we didnt but I did put my name down. She told us it was about 30min wait which was fine. Time went by and we were called that our table was ready. The interior inside was beautiful!!! Not sure if its every night but there was someone singing and another playing their instrument. It was good vibes while we were looking at the menu and waiting for our waiter to come. Our waiter then approaches us and this menu had great options from food to drinks. So first we order our drinks the chinola picante and the flor de quisqueya (delicious!!!) and the presentation exquisite!!!!! For our appetizers, we ordered the chopped cheese empanadas and the crab croquette has Yuca Mash, Mozzarella, Pineapple Pico). Then ordered the Sajoma Sushi has Roll Skirt Steak, Bacon, Cream Cheese, Queso Frito, Pico de Gallo, Maduro and Jarabacoa Roll has Shrimp Tempura, Induveca, Queso Frito, Cream Cheese, Pineapple Pico, Maduro. From the food and drink presentation, everything was so tasteful!!! By the way, during our time there our waiter was so attentive and her service was top notch! Thank you! As we was finishing up our dinner we ordered one more round of drinks which was the chismosa and the sol y playa, yum! Thank you Casita RD for a great night, be back soon!
Visited Casita RD last night around 7 pm. I was greeted by a very elegant woman who escorted us to our table within a few minutes without reservation. Welcoming was very friendly. I was very impressed with the cozy atmosphere and the great service. Our waitress Elisabeth was very polite and informative about the menu. The drinks were amazing and the calamari was delicious. But, I was blown away by the Boca Chica Red Snapper which was will seasoned and cooked to perfection. The music was not too loud where you couldn’t hear yourself talking. Later in the evening the live band played some great tunes. This place isn’t for the urban Yankee baseball cap crowd. There’s a dress code “classy” . I will definitely recommend. Looking forward to trying other dishes. Definitely coming back again!
I've been here a few times in the past few weeks. This is a very put-together restaurant establishment. They check all my boxes with service being #1 (thank you Nicole). They have a very happy pleasant staff. Great food and nothing is salty or overpriced. I struggle with paying a decent price for their Pina Colada but I have news for you It is so refreshing and not sweet you will only be too happy to pay full price. It's a must to try their fresh limonada. I had the strawberry just yesterday and it was super refreshing. I have to post other pictures but please try the pollo guisado empanadas. They are sizable and extremely crispy and delicious with plenty of filling. This was a close 1st in the appetizers. I haven't tried the sampler yet. It's super-sized and can comfortably feed 4-6 people (to leave room for the other great items on the menu). I'm trying not to go 3 days a week but they reeled me in with those appetizers so it's been a bit tough. There is parking and it's very easy to get to. I hope you have the same great experience as I did. Reservations are a good idea as this is a cozy spot in size and seating with delicious food.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Massiel and Chef Papi at Casita RD for hosting my Blossom & Brunch BSN celebration dinner—a private event for 70 guests that was nothing short of magical. It was an honor to celebrate such a personal milestone in their beautiful space, which already feels like home to us. We’ve partnered with them annually for Thanksgiving catering, and each time, they exceed expectations—but this dinner was truly next-level. From the moment we arrived, my family and friends were raving about the hospitality, the elegant setup, the delicious drinks, and the flawless service. Massiel went above and beyond—curating thoughtful menus, providing beautiful linens, and ensuring that every special dietary request was honored. As someone who is usually very anxious when planning events, it speaks volumes that I felt completely at ease. Massiel left me with no worries—I truly knew I was in good hands. And Chef Papi—per usual—crafted the most amazing dishes, the kind worth traveling miles for. We’ve followed him through his culinary ventures for years, and will continue to do so because he is simply exceptional. Every dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly prepared, and most importantly—we received zero complaints. Just joy, smiles, and full plates. Casita RD isn’t just a venue—it’s a home. A space where every guest is treated like family. Thank you, Massiel and Chef Papi, for making my special day unforgettable. Your talent, warmth, and professionalism are unmatched. May our business be forever blessed.
Mofongo w/churrasco was on point! My friend ordered the Sancocho (wasnt on their Lunch menu) and she said it was good. My Polish friend had the Garlic shrimp and she confirmed it was made with real garlic. Bottom line" Polish-Approved!
I went there December 2025. The place is a lot smaller than I thought it would be but its fine. The food was great. We ordered camarones al ajillo, churrasco chimichurri + lobster, mofongo de chicharron, and grilled chicken. For desert we had the tres leches which was delicious. The drinks were good. We had a few rounds of espresso martini and old fashion. The problem was one the waitress even though telling her twice brought the waters after the drinks and foods were brought out and everyone was eating. The music was wayyy to loud. A restaurant or a club, I totally get it if it was during a tipico or a sunday brunch but it was not. There werent even people dancing. The waitress couldnt hear anyone when speaking to her, we couldn't hear her. It was hard to speak to our table due to the very loud music. Apple watch kept saying the environment was too loud. There needs to be a comfortable medium. We also waited 20+ minutes for our payment to be picked up to pay. I would definitely go again because the food was good.
A solid 3.5-4 for me... Coming in from the city and abuelo decided he was in the mood for some food from home aka DR so looked up the closest one with great reviews in the direction we were headed and Casita came in as top 3 in the Baldwin/Freeport area. Owned by a head chef husband and hostess foh manager wife team, this spot has been around since 2022 from what we were told. It was nicely packed when we arrived yet they were able to accommodate our party of 3 with no reservation. Menu has Domican dishes but also offers... sushi and penne a la vodka?... I'm not a big fan of fusion spots so we stuck to what we came in for. Ambiance is lively and loud, definitely difficult to speak to the person across from you. The seating is... interesting. They have a section of the restaurant where its couches facing each other with a table between them. Unless you are on the taller side, table height gets much higher once you plop down on these plushy couches. Which makes for an uncomfortable position to sit and eat. Our waitress must had be been new as we had to say our orders several times and she still came back to us almost combative about the order and didn't when we said please make it a rolling service. However the young man who brought our drinks, our food and checked in on us throughout the night was fantastic! And deserves a raise. Food: Ordered the app 3 varieties of mofongito: Mofongo part was very bland and dry and the toppings weren't well seasoned except for the chicken one. The chicharrom did have a nice crunch to it and I'm on the fence on the very thin not plentiful bechamel sauce that was on top of each as it's not what I'm used to seeing on Mofongo. Also had the Picasita! A mountain of fried goodness, great to share amongst 4+ diners. Great selection of fried meats, yucca, tostones, garlicky shrimp (which would have been so much better on the mofongitos) and cheese Well worth the price tag! But please offer up a little more variety in your dipping sauces please like a wasakaka or mojo please! The stewed oxtails were fall off the bone and not stringy. Rice and beans that came with it were delicious too. Location has ample parking but would suggest a reservation especially on the weekends. We will give this place another try when in the area.
I placed a very large order for delivery , they forgot the 3 leches cake I ordered. They sent a driver to drop it off. I took a picture of the cake before u even touched it. This cake was $11 😳presentation is terrible and it’s a tiny piece of cake. This is abusive! The pechurines, pork belly mofongo and Moro were very salty. It’s overpriced and they’re confusing flavor with a bunch of salt. Such a disappointment.
Disappointing experience with the restaurant’s policy and treatment I went to eat with my kids on a rainy day, and we were all wearing sweaters because of the weather. When we arrived, we were told that after 4 p.m. it’s not allowed to sit inside wearing sweaters, which I found very inappropriate—especially for a casual, family-style restaurant. I also noticed other people dining with sweaters, so the rule wasn’t applied consistently. I felt uncomfortable and disappointed by the lack of common sense and empathy. I don’t think I’ll be coming back or recommending this place.
Made a reservation for a party of 12, work gathering and a birthday. They said they were full so we could only reserve the table for 1 hour and then move to the bar, we agreed and made the rsvp. Shortly after paying the table bill ($500+ check) we moved to the bar, right after ordering 1st round of drinks at the bar, the hostess came and in a very rude way asked us to leave. We asked for a reason and no explanation was given, they were not full and there were plenty of tables open. Very unfortunate because we drove for 1 hour just to come here. Service by Anderson was amazing.
I want to share my experience from today because it was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. I want to make it very clear that this is not about the attire it’s about the delivery, the attitude, and the way we were spoken to. On October 24th at 4:53 PM, I visited this restaurant wearing activewear, and I was let in with no problem and no questions about my outfit. Here is proof that I was there on October 24th, which I am attaching with this review.. As you continue to read you will understand why I attached restaurants photos that contain the timestamp and date. Today, at 5:30 PM, also a Friday, I came wearing leggings and a jacket because it was cold. My friend was dressed similarly. When we walked in, we were greeted by two women who were noticeably standoffish. They looked us up and down and immediately said, “You can’t come in with sweats.” Neither of us was wearing sweats. They asked me if I had ever been there before, and I told them yes in a similar outfit, also on a Friday, and I had never been questioned. The host responded, “I’ve never seen you,” basically calling me a liar. When I asked her to repeat what she said, she changed her answer to, “No, that’s our Friday policy.” After going back and forth, they finally sat us. Once seated, I noticed other people wearing crewneck sweatshirts, which completely contradicted everything they had just told us. The host and the older woman who made the initial comments continued looking our way and acting irritated. I didn’t hear what they were saying, but based on their behavior and body language, it was clear the situation was uncomfortable and directed at us. At that point, we got up and left. This is not a fancy restaurant, and while the food is good, there is absolutely no reason for the staff to be so rude. The attitude, inconsistency, and unprofessional behavior were unnecessary, and because of this experience, I will not be returning and as a Dominican myself it's sad that I had to experience this type of behavior.
⭐️ 1-Star Review 👎👎 (Two thumbs down) I’m very disappointed with our recent experience at Casita RD. We’ve eaten here before and always enjoyed the food and ambiance, which is why we chose to stop in again before heading to a movie. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. There were three of us, and we walked in on a cold night. The hostess seated us as usual, and everything seemed fine at first. However, a few moments later, she returned and told us we could not stay because we were wearing hooded sweatshirts. To be clear, this is a small, casual restaurant with no visible dress code posted anywhere inside. There was no signage or indication at the entrance that hoodies were not permitted. The situation was embarrassing and uncomfortable, especially since we were already seated. When I asked for clarification, the hostess told me I should have checked their website. Realistically, most people do not review a restaurant’s website for a dress code before walking in, especially when they’ve dined there before without issue. We were dressed neatly in plain hoodies, jeans, and sneakers, nothing offensive, inappropriate, or disruptive. What bothered me most was not just the policy itself, but how it was handled. Being asked to leave after being seated felt disrespectful, particularly as returning customers. This experience left a very poor impression, and unfortunately, we won’t be returning. If this is how guests are treated, I can’t recommend this restaurant to others.
I honestly don’t understand the hype around Casita RD. The menu makes the place sound like it’s offering something elevated, but once you actually look at it, most of the options are extremely standard — empanadas, wings, mofongo, burgers, basic salads, and fried appetizers. For the prices they charge, the food comes across more like dressed-up bar food than anything particularly special or memorable. Another frustrating part is their automatic 20% gratuity for parties of four or more. While it’s technically written on the menu, It is not mentioned when reserving over the phone To make matters worse, there seems to be an unspoken dress code that isn’t clearly communicated beforehand. It creates an awkward situation where guests show up expecting a casual dining spot but feel judged or out of place for something that’s never properly explained. Overall, the restaurant markets itself like it’s something upscale or unique, but the reality feels like overpriced bar food with confusing policies. With so many better Dominican and Latin restaurants around, this one just didn’t justify the cost or the attitude.
I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service at this restaurant. The place was completely empty when we walked in, yet we were turned away because they said they only had availability for a party of 2 — not 3. Every single table was empty, and it would have taken nothing to simply add an extra chair to accommodate us. I’ve been to many restaurants that were actually packed, and not even there have we been turned away like this. It made absolutely no sense, especially given that the restaurant was empty. There was absolutely no effort to be flexible or welcoming. It felt like they just didn’t want to help. Very poor customer service and not a good first impression at all. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
