Wonderful Sunday brunch at Ubuntu. It was surely happening on a sunny morning. You have to line up for food first and then it is brought to you at the table. Lots of space for al fresco dining and the vibe is relaxed but boisterous. I had a simple scrambled eggs and it was well seasoned and filling too. My friends and I chatted away and spent a wonderful late morning catching up. The cheese puffs were especially good.
Ubuntu is my favorite eatery in Long Beach. I go there at least once a week—whether for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. Some people don’t realize how romantic and delicious dinner is at Ubuntu. Unlike ordering at the counter during the day, at night the friendly and enthusiastic servers provide service at the table. Thursdays and Fridays soft jazzy music or bossanova create a pleasant backdrop. Try the dinner burger, some of the pastas, or any of the delicious entrees. Leave room for the chocolate mousse or the extraordinary passion fruit mousse. BTW, there’s now a second location in beautiful San Juan Capistrano.
Excellent service and very attentive staff. I came with my dog, and she was able to relax while I ate. The music was pleasant and at a perfect volume for conversation.
First time here and I loved it. Great coffee and pastries. Also the atmosphere so peaceful, but the best thing for me was the great friendly customer service.
This crew is always so kind and nice. Elizabeth literally remembers my name. They have patience, always smiling, even when it’s overwhelming. The coffee is amazing. The food is also 10/10 I can’t say enough about the wonderful atmosphere they provide customer service is almost nonexistent these days, but not at Umbunto LB
This place is wonderful! I really loved everything about it. The location, the vibe and menu were all solid! Our table started with great coffee & Cappuccinos and soon followed up with the Quiche, Short-Rib Chilaquiles and the Angry Fried Chicken Sando. I must say that ALL of these were a big hit! Sierra (a server) was welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Thanks Sierra! If you're looking for something different with quality dishes and great ambiance, check this place out!
There's a place where the hummingbirds know your name. Ubuntu isn't just a cafe—it's a philosophy come to life. The name means "I am because we are," and you feel it the moment you arrive. This is the kind of neighborhood spot that restores your faith in community. The veranda is pure magic. I've spent countless mornings here listening to the fountain and watching hummingbirds dart between flowers with impossible grace. There's something about this place that makes creativity flow—I've written entire chapters of my novel here, inspired by those tiny, fearless birds. The food is exceptional, the coffee is perfect, and the atmosphere shifts beautifully from productive mornings to relaxed evenings. When the sun sets and the deck lights come on, it transforms into the ideal spot to end any day with good conversation and even better company. The staff treats you like family. The regulars become friends. And somehow, in a world that often feels disconnected, Ubuntu reminds you that we all belong to each other. Whether you need a quiet place to work, a spot to meet friends, or just somewhere to remember what it feels like to be part of something good—Ubuntu delivers. Every single time. Especially if you love, like I do, gluten free cheese puffs! P.S. If you love hummingbirds as much as I do, you'll understand why this place found its way into my forthcoming novel, Song of Hummingbird Highway. Whether you come for the friendship, the exceptional food, a drink on that magical veranda, or just to feel good in a world that sometimes forgets how—Ubuntu delivers. From hummingbird mornings to starlit evenings. It's not just a neighborhood cafe. It's a reminder that we belong to each other.
Came here upon my host's recommendation & the fact that I am an Ubuntu Linux user 💻 (you may be familiar if you work in software 😂 ... I can't wait to tell my coworkers I went to an Ubuntu Cafe). Jokes aside, I don't have any additive commentary because all the 5 star reviews you see here hit the nail on the head already. The service was wildly good. We were offered free Brazilian cheese bread from our gracious host... our servers stopped by frequently to check on us and clear our tables. We truly felt welcomed!! Breakfast sandwich was a tad mediocre (it was good, just nothing special), but the bacon was super crispy and flavorful. Omelet was out of this world, very delicate, well-seasoned, and masterfully put together. The indoor/outdoor patio is also beautiful - we enjoyed the balance between having some sunshine/shade/ocean breeze.
Beautiful cafe. I stopped for dinner and had the short rib pappardelle and a wine-based cocktail. A jazzy trio played chill tunes. The outdoor patio was pretty. Service was friendly and prompt. I will be back.
My guy and I discovered this spot after an afternoon at Dog Beach. What a great find. We started with cold Lavender coffee with ice cubes of dark coffee that took the taste over the top! Bravo… We decided to share the Farmer Salad with chicken and were overwhelmed at the deliciousness of it all. Then, they shared the Brazilian cheese bread to welcome us on our first (but definitely not our last visit) OMG! What a culinary organism! I highly recommend this outdoor bistro. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is superb!
This location has become our favorite place to come for our coffee, brunch, and now dinner. We have been having our mornings for a few months now and the service plus the staff are amazing. So welcoming to customers, you get treated just like family. Owners are fantastic, they take time from their busy schedule and take time to interact with costumers. Food is done to perfection. presentation is on point and everything we have tried so far has been amazing. If you never been to this location, you must try and I’m sure you will come back.
This place was super cute and had nice decor inside and out. I went during breakfast on a Saturday. I got the chilaquiles & a hot vanilla latte . Food came out quick & it was so good. The coffee , to die for , very yummy . The waiters constantly checked on us and they were super sweet and provided great service . It is a bit pricey but honestly it was worth it . Definitely coming back
A fantastic american restaurant for brunch and coffee! Everything here is fresh, delicious, and served in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the great experience. The dishes are outstanding, with the Thick Cut Bacon being a must-try—juicy and bursting with flavor. The Angry Fried Chicken Sando features perfectly cooked, juicy chicken, while the Cubano Sando boasts a well-balanced combination of flavors. The Crispy Pork Belly Adobo Bowl is also flavorful and satisfying. The only slight letdown was the Short Ribs Chilaquiles, which were a bit on the sour side. Despite that, everything else was so satisfying, and I’ll definitely be back next time!

I really liked this little place. I didn't know it was here. The coffee was good. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on a croissant. Nicely layered with avocado spread, perfect sunny side up egg, bacon and cheese. The seating was all comfortable and felt outdoors, whether inside or out. They had blankets and heaters. Very cozy
The food experience is beyond delicious with all of their house signature sauce recipes! The vibes are great and jazzy and our host Jasmine was so courteous! They even offered us complementary fresh Brazilian bread out of the oven just because they liked us! The atmosphere automatically makes you into a great mood and we will definitely come again! Their drinks are amazing too!

I recently visited Ubuntu "The Greatest Neighborhood Café" in Long Beach, and it absolutely lives up to its name! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server, Omar, was exceptional and made our dining experience truly memorable. We started with the cheese bread, which was a delightful mix of crispiness on the outside and gooey goodness on the inside—an absolute must-try! Next, we indulged in the lobster mac and cheese. It was heavenly: rich, creamy, and bursting with succulent lobster pieces. It’s clear they use high-quality ingredients to create their dishes. The salad was fresh and crisp, providing a perfect balance to our meal. To complement our food, we enjoyed a perfectly brewed cappuccino and a decadent mocha. Both were expertly crafted and provided the perfect finish to our brunch. Overall, Ubuntu offers a fantastic blend of comfort food and café favorites, all served with a side of excellent service. Omar was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-notch café experience in Long Beach.
WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, and honestly THE BEST SERVICE WE'VE HAD SINCE COVID! Every staff member welcomed us and Ramon was the most friendly and helpful of all with menu recommendations, history, and even heard it was my birthday and brought us cheese bread as a birthday gift! Who does that??? 🤯 Reminded me of how service used to be and it was so very much appreciated, fits perfectly with the beautiful decor and incredibly delicious food, absolutely our new favorite restaurant, can't wait to try dinner! Thanks again Ramon and everyone on shift today, we will be back and I'm telling all our friends to try Ubuntu! 👍👍👍👍👍
The lavender latte was incredibly tasty and with a beautiful design on top. The Brazilian cheese balls were finger kicking good. Great, polite and very professional service. The place was very busy but we didn't wait for a long time. Will definitely go back for some other delicious food options and great coffee!😋🙌🏻👌🏻🤞🏻

A great neighborhood place to dine al fresco on a sunny day. Inside seating is limited. Service is friendly. Prices are exorbitant. Some lettuce with a chicken breast and an iced tea were $38 inc tax and tip and this is not a full service restaurant, you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Won't be back.
This place has good reviews so was curious. It's expensive for a regular to mediocre omelet. The texture seemed a little too gooey. They make their own almond milk so their latte doesn't contain any added sugar at all, which is good. Good service. There's free parking at the restaurant. It seems popular and busy. People place order at the cash register and pick their own seating. No gluten free option. There's only one restroom. Pet friendly.
Place has a nice vibe, Christmas decor is cute, my coffee was delicious I ordered a French toast latte. Their idea of ordering first and then you looking for your own table is confusing and messy more If is a Sunday morning brunch. In case you want to order something else you have to search for a server because nobody came to ask us if we wanted to order something else even when we took menus to our table and were looking around for service. My breakfast sandwich was not very tasty. Overall is a good brunch place.

It used to be good. Today service was unfriendly unhelpful and $21 for the cheapest and most simple salad… i guess the half of a one egg - THEY DON’T PUT EVEN THE WHOLE EGG!!! Give me a break! Nice view nice decor no soul
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, terrible service. Servers are nice but very slow.

Hi Dani, I’m writing because I’ve been following the recent feedback from Julissa, and as a former guest of Ubuntu, her experience resonated with me deeply. While your response emphasizes "care" and the "Ubuntu spirit," my own visits have left me with a very different impression. Like Julissa, I have found the environment at your café to be increasingly uncomfortable and over-monitored. While I understand the importance of safety and licensing, there is a distinct difference between responsible service and making guests feel watched or "policed" from the moment they sit down. In my experience, the atmosphere often feels more like a lecture than a hospitable dining experience. It’s disappointing to see a guest’s genuine discomfort dismissed under the guise of "family-like care." When multiple people express that they feel unwelcome or unfairly targeted, it suggests that the issue isn't with the guests' behavior, but with the culture of surveillance you’ve cultivated. I had hoped my initial experiences were just "off" days, but seeing this public exchange confirms that this is a systemic approach to how you view and treat your clientele. Until there is a shift toward actual hospitality rather than constant scrutiny, I won't be returning, and I suspect others who feel similarly will do the same. Best, Alondra S
