Just had the absolute best time at Big Fish House! Not only was the food delicious - I had the incredible Omakase (19 items, 150$) while my friends had multiple rolls including double toro and the kumomoto oysters which were fantastic - but the entire experience was so fun! Julie is the owner and is pursuing her passion in cooking / sushi and provided all the pieces of sushi amazingly. Additionally Wendy, a longtime friend of Julie I learned, is so friendly and patient and provides great recommendations and drinks! The restaurant was always visited by regulars who knew the staff with open space and just great vibes. We stayed way longer than anticipated just because it was so fun - will definitely be back soon!!

A new spot in outer Richmond, but one of those places that sort of feel like you'd never just stumbled upon on your own. Either way, still relatively new so came in with a group of 7 and was seated immediately at the sushi bar and we instantly felt like home. A clean bar with a slightly fancy feel. All the tables look pretty well done as well. FOOD : Chicken wings. An odd choice at a sushi spot but GOODNESS were these good. They took one of the bones out for ease of eating and the batter they had on this was ridiculous. Crunchy, salty and a little sweet. Juicy chicken served with a sauce to balance it all out. Highly recommended. Ankimo. One of the classics but the quality here was phenomenal. Smooth with a ton of umami balanced with the sweet and tangy sauce. Also highly recommended. 10 piece omakase. Had all the classics, but obviously the highlights of uni, salmon, otoro, shrimp and Hamachi which were excellent. For $60, really a great option for the quality of fish you're getting with solid seasonings. Definitely recommend. 30 piece sashimi. Also excellent quality fish with a good variety and honestly great price point as well. Oysters were also fresh and super tasty. Chawanmushi. RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. Umami, sweet, creamy. Perfect. Highly recommend. Double Toro roll. A great balance with excellent fish. A great starter to share. Definitely recommended. DRINKS: Spicy girl. A great drink if you're okay with a little kick. Sweet and spicy with a hint of rice. Definitely one of my favorite drinks. They have a couple more drinks that were great, so definitely worth trying a few! Overall a great experience. The biggest thing is that it feels like family when you're here. Everyone is friendly and helps you tailor your experience to you. Excellent food, and great drinks, with an awesome staff. Highly recommend. Can't go wrong with anything you order(so far). I will be back often.

Amazing!!! First time here on Thanksgiving for lunch! The sushi is incredible! Fresh and great tasting! The staff is friendly and nice too so made the whole experience worth every penny! Had the Japan Tai, the double toro roll, hamachi and a few others I can’t pronounce or spell lol! Just melts in your mouth! Update 2/14/24 I love this place and the team there are amazing and fun to be around! They really care about their customers and the food they serve! They gave all the ladies a rose and a balloon! Love these wonderful people and making our Valentines Day special! ❤️

How does this place only have 99 reviews? I just tried it and am impressed with their lunch bento box. I ordered the chicken katsu with sashimi and if you look at the photos you can see the quality of the fish. The portions were lunch appropriate and I love that they have the extra touches: grated wasabi, shiso leaf, miso soup. Other lunch spots make the miso optional. The gyoza was also delicious. Perfectly fried katsu… but yum. I’ll be back!! Also the large entrance with the button for accessibility is great for anyone with a wheelchair.

We are locals and love this place. We always get a dragon roll and veggie or chicken udon with miso soup. The fish quality is always great and the service is quick. They serve barley tea with the meal. It’s never really busy when we go. All the staff are very nice and I believe the owner said they recently included a Japanese and Vietnamese Asian fusion menu (fact check me on this). Overall recommend!

This place is really beautiful, with plenty of delicious options. Today we enjoyed edamame, a nigiri combo, the rainbow special roll, and a couple of rolls with avocado, cheese, and salmon. Everything was fresh and tasty. We’ll definitely be coming back! ❤️

One of the fav casual sushi spot in the area. Their service is fast and there are great lunch special prices. I liked the tuna nigiri (super fresh) and caterpillar roll!

Favorite casual sushi spot in SF so far! Great service, quiet ambience. Their service is fast, and considerate- they are often checking on you to see if you need more tea! Great lunch special prices. We really liked the Jake’s roll. Sashimi was fresh too! Some of the rolls could be improved by adding some cucumber/crunch for texture to be less mushy. Still very happy with this spot!

We loved this cozy spot. The service was very attentive, and the food was incredibly fresh and delicious. We ordered the cucumber sushi and seafood udon, and the team kindly customized the ramen for our child, which we really appreciated. Definitely recommend visiting!

The food here is great, very flavorful and fresh tasting, reasonably priced in my opinion. I picked up a platter of rolls and the staff were friendly. Both times I have ordered takeout here I experienced the miso soup being forgotten in my order but they quickly corrected it. I do wish the miso soup had some more intense flavor but the rest of the rolls I tried were good.

Big Fish is without a doubt a San Francisco gem. Everything is perfect and made with the highest care and professionalism. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is amazing, and the food is exceptional with a variety of options— from special rolls, sashimi, to Japanese curries and much more. Julie and Billy are the chefs, and both are welcoming, professionals, and friendly. Go and let yourself experience the best Japanese restaurant in the Richmond/Sea Cliff area. Spoiler alert: Jake’s roll is absolutely fantastic!

My wife and I were in town for work and we were lucky enough to find this place online. The food was amazing, fresh, and delicious. Walking in you are greeted by a wonderful woman, Julie, who is the owner. After our food we got the chance to talk with her about food and life. You can tell how much passion she has for food and her restaurant. She has two shops and seems to put in a lot of love. From the food to the furniture you won't be disappointed and i cant recommend this spot enough.

So far I have tried a good portion of their dishes and have not been disappointed! Even during lunch it doesn't get too busy, that's one of the benefits of being off the beaten path. It's also decently reasonable (for SF standards) to find parking around here after 1pm.

My fiancé and I have been to big fish house several times and have generally enjoyed it. The last two times though we have noticed a decline in service that was pretty bad tonight. We had to order on our phone, waited for probably 30 minutes, then had to ask a busser to check our order. There’s also an incessant ringing that sounds like someone’s phone receiving texts, but you can hear it throughout the restaurant. We hope it improves because we like this place.

First of all, the service was terrible. The server was extremely loud, inattentive, and painfully slow. We had to ask for absolutely everything, from water to chopsticks to napkins. On top of that, the sushi quality was disappointing. The chef(?) preparing the sushi clearly lacked basic skills. Pieces were cut unevenly, rolls were falling apart, and nothing looked professionally done. What shocks me the most is how this place has a 4.7 rating. After this experience, I honestly don’t trust Google reviews anymore. Definitely not worth the time or money.

This is not a Japanese restaurant. It's an interpretation of one with food of other cultures as well. The food was edible, but nothing exciting. Poor kid was the only one running the tables inside while everyone and their brother were handling the orders outside. Probably should not have visited during the Night Market event. Never did get my miso soup.
