Avis sur Fish & Farm Alameda
I'm not sure why this place has such a low rating, because I think it's the best kept secret in the city. A friend and I showed up unannounced on a Sunday night. New Year's Day, no less. A very friendly bartender/server greeted & seated us and took our order all with perfect timing. We got the fish and chips which were crispy and tasty, and the mushroom risotto which was delicious. It had spinach and chopped squash in it, which made it somewhat healthy too. Our server was very accommodating, bringing out extra plates and serving spoons so we could split what we ordered. We didn't have time to take photos before we scarfed down the food. Each entree was only $25, which is a good deal for San Francisco. Would definitely recommend.
What a treat! The food was great and the service fabulous! I had sole and my husband steak. My fish was cooked to perfection. The sauce was light and not too much as tends to happen. My husbands steak was also great, perfect medium. The wine delicious needless to say. Wish I’d take picture🙄. I do not usually do reviews but this place deserves a great review! Bob appetit!
We had dinner and breakfast at Fish and Farm. Steve was our waiter for dinner, He took care of our every need. We went back for drinks the next evening and Steve went above and beyond. We had breakfast before leaving for our cruise. Stefan was our waiter, he also took care of our every need. Our food was great each time we ate there and the service was even better. Thank you Steve and Stefan.
Overall really tasty food. The fries did what I needed them to do on my taste buds. Only critique is the bar tender didn’t put ice in my water. But I’ll be going back tonight for round 2.
Family and I were staying at club quarters for sons brain surgery at UCSF 9 days. There were days I spent time alone, with family members and the whole family there and fish and farm was such a comfort for us all. Stefan was so hospitable, he remembered that I liked hibiscus at breakfast, always remembered v what my kids liked to drink and always was so kind to us and my little dog. The food was delicious, so plentiful and the atmosphere was really comforting to us during this trying time. It's a beautiful venue and they have shows and ample seating downstairs and on the main level and a great big beautiful bar. They also make great craft cocktails.
Good food adjacent to Club Quarters Hotel (where my wife and I stayed). Nice option for late-night takeout (fish & chips are great) but the real moment was walking in late morning asking to pay to fill our go cups and the gentleman filled us both gratis. Very nice.
Excellent food and service. Great staff. Highly recommend the crab cakes!
Fish and chips - got salad instead! Fish is light and crispy. Salad is dressed perfectly. Interior makes me think of an European pub but classier. I love it
BOTTOMLESS COFFEE!!! Located next door to the Club Quarters hotel, (CQ Hotel) it opens at 6.30am Mon - Fri and 7.30am Sat-Sun TIPS: - if you’re staying at the hotel, this is where your room service comes from. - A lot of the chairs are quite high, so make your request known if you need to sit at a lower table. - Being accommodating for accessibility issues makes this place even better! - Be prepared with your coffee order as you are presented with coffee as soon as you sit down. This coffee is constantly topped up too!!! - bring your glasses. The low lighting and cozy ambience can make the menu a little hard to read if your as old as I am!!! 😊 - Anything you need, just ASK! Staff are so happy to help and accommodate here. Alberto was so happy and friendly, it was a pleasure to have breakfast here. - I had the veggie omelette and coffee and paid just under $20usd. - Come hungry! The veggie omelette was amazing, they give you the choice of fruit or potatoes at no extra cost and it comes with toast - all at no extra cost. RECOMMEND? Yes!!!!
Fantastic service and awesome food don’t hesitate to try you won’t regret it .
Went for the first time for a birthday lunch. Chosen because it got high marks for their fish and chips. Seems like an upscale European interior. Snagged one of the last bowls of lobster bisque and it was superb; dull of lobster with a subtle spiciness. F&C did not disappoint. Crisp and not greasy batter, fresh tasting fish, and a good portion of chips. Attentive man served us and was quite good. My Pauliner beer was a bit flat, but other than that, I will sure return.
I recently had dinner at Fish & Farm in San Francisco and overall it was a very enjoyable experience that deserves a solid 4 stars. To start, I ordered the crab cakes, and I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation. Instead of being served alone, the crab cakes came on top of a fresh salad, which made the appetizer feel more complete and satisfying. The crab cakes themselves were flavorful and well-prepared, definitely a highlight of the meal. For my main course, I went with the classic fish and chips. The dish was exactly what you would expect—crispy, golden batter with tender fish inside. While not the best I’ve ever had, it was certainly good and hit the spot. What stood out was the attention to detail: the server brought out malt vinegar without me having to ask, and there was plenty of tartar sauce provided, which is something many restaurants often skimp on. That small touch really elevated the experience. To finish off the meal, I tried the blueberry cheesecake, which was excellent. Rich, creamy, and bursting with blueberry flavor, it was one of the best desserts I’ve had in a while. Service was good overall, though a little on the slow side since there was only one staff member handling the host stand, bar, and tables. Considering that, he did an impressive job keeping everything running smoothly. If you’re looking for a spot in San Francisco with tasty seafood, solid desserts, and a cozy atmosphere, Fish & Farm is definitely worth a visit.
We came around 9pm for a later dinner on a Friday evening. Our server Adam was absolutely fantastic and so professional. Dinner was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal!
Good food.. open early on Saturday too food was cold when it came to my table but everything was fine
Great atmosphere. Pub style with lots of ambience. Connected to the Club Quarters Hotel where we were staying and we ate there twice. Each time service was quick and efficient. Food portions were huge and delicious! Breakfast was amazing. For a downtown location it still felt cozy & relaxed
October 2023: Celebrated my mom's birthday dinner here with a total of 11 people. Our server, Mourinho, was very attentive and helpful all night. Kudos for the excellent service. I ordered the fried chicken 🍗 and was very happy with my entree. There were four pieces and came with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. I also started with a Hazy IPA that was reasonably priced for downtown SF. Other people had the mussels, the margherita pizza, pork chop, NY steak, salmon, the sole, the mushroom 🍄 risotto and the chicken Caesar salad. Everyone was very happy with the food. We also brought my mom's favorite cake to share. The restaurant was accommodating of keeping the cake and bringing it out for us to serve. There was a $25 cake fee added, which is understandable. Note that they added a 22% gratuity, which was a surprise since I didn't see it on the menu nor was it mentioned when I made a reservation. Seems a bit steep for a surprise mandatory charge. Would that make me not come back again? Maybe. Seemed opaque to spring that on me when I went to pay the bill. But the food is tasty.
Shout out to Adam, who gave us great service during our stay at CQ hotel and we visited F&F almost everyday during our last few days at SF! Food is great and atmosphere is amazing! Highly recommended!!!
It's got all the charm and charisma of a local pub, with the added benefit of amazing, locally-sourced food and brews. Sat down at the bar, ordered a pint of a local beer (that I, sadly, forgot the name) and the farm burger, 'cause it looked fitting and traditional. It was a top-notch burger, much better quality than your standard pub fare, with fresh fries to boot! If you're staying by the Club Quarters hotel or in the area, at least go check out their happy hour. Won't regret it!
My brother chose this eatery for mom’s 88th birthday dinner which was a huge hit. Everyone liked their meal and especially the roasted salmon, the filet of sole, fried chicken, margherita pizza, steak, fries… they have a great varied menu that would appeal to your entire party. All the sides were also yummy — roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, cabbage cooked with bacon, mixed veggies… We had 11 and the waiter was wonderful and single handedly took great care of us. We brought a large birthday cake and he was so charming in helping us celebrate mom’s special day. We will definitely go back — great for groups! Parking on the street can be free in spots after 6pm, a great bonus.
the cioppino is made fresh to order and it tastes like it!
Friendly and down-to-earth service with food that is surprisingly good for the price. The menu is very traditional American. Atmosphere is classic SF and the building could be 100 years old but they have kept it up very well. Great experience on a non-busy Saturday early evening
Wonderful food and service TIN CEILING/ Enhancement pillar. Brilliant architecture!!!! Come and take a look!!

We were exhausted and hungry and since the farm & fish was right downstairs and it was Sun we took a chance. My partner read all the reviews and some were brutal. But I didn't care. First impression was server/bartender was not enthusiastic but IDK people have good days and bad days. Long story short I had the fish & chips and he had Cesar salad. Salad was yummy and fish was cooked perfectly the fries were crisp outside and tender cooked inside. In other words perfect. Our server warmed up to us and we even got a smile or two. So reading reviews can be helpful in making a decision of where to eat, you will always have a great experience if you go in without any pre conceived ideas. So thank you Fish & Farm for an enjoyable dinner.
Feels more like a pub than a restaurant. Prices are good for the food offered.
Was there for breakfast, so atmosphere would be different at other times. The food was good, with a nice selection. However, service a little slow with only 1 member of staff on duty that i could see. They had run out of grapefruit juice but staff unaware till after i had placed the order.
Recently dined here with my mother for breakfast. She ordered the eggs benedict florentine and I ordered the ham and cheese omlette. Good atmosphere and good service. The food was okay, but in my opinion, the Hollandaise on my mother's dish was rather thin and skimpy. Other than that, good experience.

As soon as we walked into the place we felt that the restaurant had a vintage feel, and was on the darker side than we had expected. There wasn’t that big of a menu and seemed more like a upscale sports bar. The food itself came out pretty quick. The sauce with the crab cakes was too sharp for the crab cakes. The salmon and steak we ordered was good and we ended up leaving little evidence when we were done. If we were staying at the hotel above I could see us going back for a drink but other than that the prices could’ve been a little lower. Guess the area was driving the pricing.

Its an ok place. Breakfast was decent. Service was a bit surly and understaffed. They tried to charge us both $1.50 egg surcharge which was not posted anywhere, or on the menu so I politely declined. Raise prices, post it, but not surprise us by adding it to the bill after the fact. They need additional help as it was a bit slow.

When we first entered the restaurant there was an employee cleaning a table, we waited for him to be done, after that he came to us and started staring, no greeting, no good morning, nothing. I thought he was having a bad morning or something, we got seated. Then another guy showed up to get our order and he was moody too. He kept over talking when we tried to give our order. The food was ok, not so great. Bacon was overcooked. Anyway.. rude people, they have no clue about customer service. I would never be back…
Surf, Turf, and a Sigh Fish & Farm in San Francisco tries to conjure nostalgia with its wood-paneled, old-school bar charm, but the illusion fades quickly. At 8 p.m., in a downtown that feels eerily deserted, it stands as one of the only open options—an advantage it leans on heavily. Prices are ambitious, yet the fare falls flat: service is sluggish, and the food borders on uninspired. The salmon I ordered, served medium-well alongside potatoes and cooked vegetables, carried the unmistakable taste of something recently defrosted. In a city perched on the Pacific, that lack of freshness borders on unforgivable. The dish was passable, filling in the most basic sense, but bereft of character or care. Fish & Farm might fare better embracing its role as a bar rather than overextending into surf and turf. As it stands, it feels like a place for weary travelers caught between hunger and convenience, rather than diners in search of quality. Unless necessity dictates, skip it. #SanFranciscoEats #FoodReview #OverpricedAndUnderwhelming
I rarely give bad reviews but… this place is not worth visiting. I saw it on Google and took a group of 6 people there but was disappointed with the environment, lighting, food taste, freshness of ANY FOOD, and even the fries. The service was great tho that’s why it’s 2 stars.

We paid for breakfast included with our stay at club quarters.......the servers tried hard , but fish and farm needs a cook who can cook eggs
The requirement for one star is giving this establishment too high of a rating. This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had, complimented by what has to be the worst staff in the city. Our food took over an hour and we were never even given a heads up. We had to ask several times about the food and got not so much as a disinterested shrug, let alone an apology. We had so many great places go out during COVID, it’s criminal this place is taking up valuable real estate where something great could be.
Started with our waiter smelling of cigarettes then we ordered and had the wrong thing try to be delivered to us a couple times. Then we got served nasty eggs and french toast with raw patches of egg. Then when it's over our drugged up waiter walks away and shatters the plate. Comically horrible service.
Worst service in 10 years traveling in the US. Nasty and grumpy waiters yelling at customers. Asked us to put our name in the list and come back in 10 minutes, with half of the tables empty. Then another 10 minutes just to order. Food is just ok, with little variety on breakfast, and no coffee or water refills. It's a pity the CQ hotel has them to provide breakfast, the hotel is good and well located but the restaurant is killing the experience.
The worst service i received in my life in a restaurant! 🤯 first day i wait 10 min to be seated and only 3 tables occupied, host came and go and he even look at me and my husband, second day it was anotger host but was more rude, he came from the bar with a really bad actitude and get a piece of paper and told put your name here and come back in 10 min, only 2 tables occupied 😡.Food was good 1st day, but i dont know how could be on the second day because the host was so rude that i decided to go to anyother place even with a cold weather i decided to walk around.
Visiting out of town. I placed a to-go order. However when I returned to my hotel with food I was very disappointed. I ordered the fried chicken and it was not thoroughly cooked. Tried calling the restaurant, no one picked up or returned my call.

I can’t say I recommend this place…They were very snappy towards my boyfriend and I when we asked a simple question about wine. Seemed offended we were even asking them a question… expect questions to be asked if you run a business and try being a little kind.
The day before yesterday we ordered a main dish with fries for takeout. During payment, the waiter automatically added a 20% tip without asking (we would have tipped anyway, but in my opinion, this is not classy). On top of that, they forgot the fries, so we had to go back to get them. Then yesterday, despite all this, we returned to get food to take back to our hotel, but ended up sitting at the bar for 10 minutes while both waiters literally looked right past us. It was so uncomfortable that we eventually stood up and left without saying a word—they were clearly pretending to clean the counter just to avoid serving us (at 7 PM). I absolutely do not recommend this place—avoid it!
