Avis sur Hinodeya Downtown San Francisco
The food came so fast and was so delicious. The perfect lunch place. The chicken karaage as a starter was perfectly cooked. And the spicy miso soup was so flavourful. Absolutely loved every sip. The pork belly was slightly crunchy but so tasty.
This chain is quite good. We had dinner at the downtown location and also at the one near Union Square. The atmosphere is intimate and casual, making it a comfortable place for dinner. The food is very good — not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely interesting enough to make me want to come back. I ordered ramen (I don’t remember the exact variety), and it was actually my first time trying it. I really enjoyed the experience and would happily order it again.
We recently visited this Japanese restaurant and really enjoyed our experience overall. The food and drinks were delicious, and we loved the presentation — everything was beautifully plated and thoughtfully prepared. One small disappointment was that our drink spilled before we had a chance to enjoy it. It was technically our fault, but given the strong customer service culture in many U.S. restaurants, we were a bit surprised that a refill wasn’t offered. That said, the food was truly flavorful and satisfying, and we had a great time. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would come back for the delicious dishes.
Such an amazing experience dining here! I was solo and sat at the bar. Had the house ramen…seriously some of the best ramen I’ve ever had, and definitely the best Chashu pork I’ve ever had in a ramen. They have little crispy’s you can add to your ramen on the table, DO IT! It elevates the dish so much. Also tried the Matcha Beer. Love matcha so had to give it a try! They whisked matcha in a ceremonial bowl and then added it to my Asahi beer. Paloma was the absolute sweetest server and was the cherry on top to an amazing lunch. She was so sweet and attentive, and made me feel like family! I can’t wait to come back here.
I visited Hidoneya Ramen Bar downtown today and had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, Paloma greeted us with such warm and genuine hospitality. She made us feel truly welcome and taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious, but what made the visit even more special was Paloma’s outstanding service. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. Her attentiveness, kindness, and positive energy really stood out. It’s always nice to enjoy great food, but excellent service like this makes the experience unforgettable. Thank you, Paloma, for your wonderful hospitality—we truly appreciated it! 😊
Paloma our service was PERFECT today. I first had their clam ramen in 2025 and was very much looking forward having it again. Soon as our flight landed today, I was here ordering a bowl of my much loved clam ramen. Again, like in 2025, it was perfect in every way except the service today stood out nearly as much as the clams. Thank you.
Quick stop after long day of travels. Liked this for clam ramen. Broth was nice and hot and full of umami. Hit the spot. Saw a few other folks here having as friends and/or date. Decent cheap place w above avg food if you want to keep keep your savings in your wallet
Love love love!!! Visiting San Fran for the day and chanced upon this spot. The ramen combo was the perfect choice all the recommendations that Paloma gave hit the spot. Paloma was so attentive and welcoming to us that I felt like I was having lunch at a relative’s home instead of a restaurant.
This is my favorite ramen places in the city. It’s very difficult to find places that get vegetarian ramen right, and these guys know what they are doing. Went with a few friends, i liked the creamy broth and my friend loved the zen ramen, so based on your taste, there is no wrong answer.
is an absolute gem for ramen in San Francisco. They had rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and everything just hits. The donburi beef was amazing as well. We also had some apps like tempura, dumplings, and calamari’s. They were so good! Huge shoutout to our server Paloma, who was AMAZING. We even found out we’re from the same town back home in the Philippines, which made the experience extra special. She was warm, attentive, and such a delight—can’t wait to come back! 🍜✨
Lunch special is an excellent portion, the ramen does not disappoint - the flavor is 10/10, the atmosphere & music were a vibe, and the service was the BEST. Paloma took such excellent care of us, especially since I had my 16 month old. She was super sweet and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed plus entertainment for my daughter. Thank you so much! Highly recommend and will def be back!
This is one of the most delicious ramen I’ve ever had, perhaps the best ever. I got the house “Hinodeya” ramen, and it checks all the boxes: decent price, good portion, and full of umami deliciousness. The wheat noodles are tender and, despite being mildly on the al dente side on arrival, softened up nicely over the course of my meal. Service was fast and the atmosphere is relaxing. I highly recommend stopping by for a bowl.
Thoroughly enjoyed the vegan broth ramen, the broth was delicious. Loved the kabocha squash, although it was cut very very small. I don't normally like or eat much ramen but this was great. Also surprised how nice the interior was here. Staff was very friendly and accommodating as well.
I love the vegan creamy ramen. The inari tofu is so good. The kale is crispy and salty. It’s my favorite vegan ramen. I also like the green gyoza. My non-vegan friend got the lunch special. He said the katsu was really good. The lunch special ramens are simpler, just noodle with broth and light veggie. Overall, a San Fransisco favorite.
Paloma is a great server at Hinodeya. She is quick to greet and very hospitable with her friendly personality. Paloma is the main reason we dine here :) She is prompt and efficient, making sure we are served quickly and with orders to our liking. The financial district location is vastly different from Japantown--its much more high end with elegant decor and high ceilings. Plenty of tables as well to accommodate small to large parties. It's however oddly located in the middle of a nondescript alley by the Transamerica, making foot traffic a bit questionable. I appreciate the lunch specials offered here and will definitely look forward to returning again soon. The house ramen was absolutely delicious, generously packed with fresh ingredients and full complex flavors. Thanks Paloma, see you later!
Paloma was amazing, she made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal! I really loved the ramen, I got the spicy miso: the noodles had a great texture, the broth was full of flavor without being too rich, and I could even taste the subtle smokiness in the egg. Everything was delicious and thoughtfully prepared!
Very nice place to eat at, Japanese music, they hit the drum everytime someone comes in, service was great and friendly. The House ramen which was I got was good, the broth was flavorful, light but was rich in flavor. Every bite had me craving for me. The only disappointment was as the draft super dry asahi was a bit warm and the level 10 spice was more like a level 2-3. I probably would've enjoyed it more with a cup of the hot sauce. I definitely recommend this place.
Very nice establishment, clean and comfortable. I encountered at least 4 different staff members, each of whom was friendly. The atmosphere was comfortable and no one made me feel like a baka gaijin. I had the fried shishito pepper appetizer and the house ramen [spicy level]. Absolutely delicious. The pork melted, the broth was delightful, and the noodles were perfect. Highly recommend!
You have to try their gyoza! I’m usually not a big pork fan, but the chicken-pork mix was amazing, and the sauce it comes with is fantastic. The Yu Lin Chi chicken bento box is a must—perfectly cooked chicken paired with a really good ramen base. The chicken itself is so flavorful, especially with the sweet and sour sauce. The atmosphere is classy and inviting, which made the experience even better. The only downside was the edamame portion—it was a bit small compared to other ramen spots in the same $6–$8 price range where we usually have leftovers. The service was more hands-off than I’m used to; we waited a bit for the check and weren’t checked on much during the meal, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Overall, I was very happy with my visit and would definitely come back
4.4 stars - a very interesting experience at Hinodeya during Thursday lunch. Although there were plenty of seating we were given a tiny table where I knew I would spill my food. I requested the waitress if we could move but she declined my request until I persistently asked a second time, after which we were moved to a shared table. We ordered the combination gyu-don with a side of Hinodeya ramen as well as a full order of Hinodeya ramen. Both had flavorful broth and well-cooked meat. It is worth noting the bamboo shoots in the broth were difficult to chew and we had to add garlic crisps and chili seasoning to take the dishes to another level. After the initial experience our wait staff was extremely attentive but maybe overly friendly, as one of them kept asking us questions such as if it was our first time and what our ethnicities were. Another misheard our order, and so I had to wait additional minutes for my side ramen to come out.
Very nice interior, great service, but was not super impressed by the ramen. It was good, but I guess I was expecting better from everything I had heard. We really enjoyed the karaage with the sweet and spicy sauce (forgot the name), but the ramen broth just wasn’t my favorite compared to others I’ve had elsewhere. I got the house ramen and husband got the spicy miso, I think I liked his better.
Honestly I was disappointed- I was really excited to try since this is one of my friends favorite restaurants and made her fall in love with San Francisco but it really did not do it for me. The meat wasn’t soft and barely had flavor. My friend said the meat is normally like this. The noodles were great though. I have heard other locations (like the Japantown one) aren’t as great but this did not match my expectations. Marafuku does a better job
