I lived near Ilana for over three years and it was my go-to sandwich shop. The food is delicious and affordable and the owners are incredibly friendly. Definitely stop by if you're looking for delicious Vietnamese or breakfast sandwiches.

This place has amazing bahn mi sandwiches and Vietnamese iced coffee. I honestly loved it more than what I got at the Little Vietnam Cafe. Great ratio of meat to veggies, nice service and staff, fresh bread. AND it's all a decent price. ❤️ This place deserves some more recognition!

Delicious (and cheap!) bbq pork bahn mi! The bread was very fresh and perfectly crunchy. Sat outside and it was perfect!

It’s tempting to never cook when I live so close to Ilana’s and can get a sandwich and drink for $10. When the sandwich and drink come out quickly and are delicious? I’m never cooking lunch again.

First rate service during the week and even in weekends from the "relief crew" - a pleasure to visit for great coffee and excellent Vietnamese and other sandwiches. Lansy's egg salad on everything bagel is now an addiction... :)

I had a combination sandwich, with has ham. pate and headchese. It’s a junior size but good for the price and perfect as a breakfast. - It has a lot more than Vietnamese sandwich. I also tried an egg, cheese and ham breakfast sandwich and for $4.25 it has excellent value.

This is our early morning spot for coffee and a sandwich on the weekends. We usually ride our bicycles on the Great Highway and then through Golden Gate Park. It just so happens, this is the midway point before we head back. It is a good spot because they have chairs outside and we can park our bicycles on the sidewalk without having to lock them up. Service is friendly and quick.

I want to come back soon to try their banh mi subs. They have Wi-Fi and plugs which is nice and the seating is comfortable. Wish I had one of these next to my apartment in Tampa. Definitely support this small business if you can in sf!

Ilana Coffee is my food pilgrimage to San Francisco. My ultimate combo? Steam Pork with Pate Banhmi ($6.95) and Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($4.95 for M, $6.75 for L)! Their Banhmi is generously filled with Vietnamese steamed pork ham, pate, pickled vegetables, cilantro, and jalapenos for the perfect filling-to-bread ratio. The choice of baguette is perfect as well because it has a thin, crispy crust and a pillowy soft crumb; it gives texture without cutting the roof of your mouth. If your spice tolerance is low, consider omitting the jalapenos or removing the seeds yourself. You should also add an Iced Coffee because what’s a meal without a drink? The medium size is sufficient for me, though I do get it with less ice. Rich, smooth, creamy, and sweet - it’s hard to beat. You’ll definitely be energized with that hit of caffeine and condensed milk! I’m so glad my sister stumbled upon Ilana Coffee because it’s easy to overlook this mom ‘n’ pop shop in the Richmond District. The design is fairly simple: there’s the kitchen area with display cases of pastries and snacks, as well as the seating area both inside and outside. Although I would love to gatekeep Ilana Cafe, the quality of their banhmi alone is worth travelling for.

I randomly walked into this coffee shop during Christmas. They were one of the few coffee shops open on holiday. I had Vietnamese BBQ chicken sandwich and Vietnamese coffee. Both were excellent.

I ordered their iced Vietnamese coffee and a bbq chicken bahn mi, and it was such a great meal!! Their sandwiches are worth every penny!

We got a hot chai and a hot coffee and they were both very good. Also got some breakfast croissants that were also very yummy. At 8am, at least, the atmosphere would be nice to study or read a book. Would recommend and would come again!

The owners are my favorite people, I went to college with their daughter, and they always ask how my parents are. Ten plus years of coming here and it’s still my favorite breakfast croissant sandwich and Vietnamese sandwich spot.

Vietnamese hot coffee is a must-try. The flavor and aroma are so good! Bbq sandwich is crispy and yummy

The Vietnamese food is great! Plus it's cheap! Just don't expect much when you get something outside of the Vietnamese menu. Royal grounds has better coffee and is next door, BUT this place has outdoor seating.

Vietnamese sandwiches, and of course coffee and vietnamese coffee. Family run business. Super nice. Chicken banh mi sammi has strange coloring. Stick with combination banh mi. No more muffins. Just baked bars: lemon and peanut butter.

I had the vegetarian sandwich with sourdough bread. The bread itself was delicious, the inside tasted pretty blend. Thanks to the mustard who give it a little kick. Other than that, the service was fast enough. They claimed to have free wifi but it didn’t work and the restrooms were out of service

Old school family ran spot. Bhan Mi was a little underwhelming, heavy bread. But was good, just expected more from a recommendation. Took 20-25 minutes. Had it in a nice small hike.

Would not have guessed this cafe is owned by Vietnamese people due to the name. It is a decent price for banh mi and Vietnamese Iced Coffee. They also serve milk tea, deli sandwiches and breakfast foods. Staff is nice and welcoming. Relatively clean with indoor and outdoor seating.
