Absolutely amazing experience at Truly Mediterranean. Fresh, flavorful food, generous portions, and authentic Mediterranean taste in every bite. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly kind and attentive. One of my favorite spots : healthy, delicious, and always consistent. Highly recommend!
Found this place while searching for the quickest bite before a meeting. The chicken shawarma wrap was so good that I ended up coming back 3 more times in a week. This is my favorite shawarma in SF by a big margin. The people who own this place and work here are also awesome.
Truly outstanding lamb shawarma. I had to wait a bit so one of the cooks surprised me with a falafel on the house hot and fresh and perfect!
Truly Mediterranean lives up to its name, but the real star of the menu is the kefta kebab. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and grilled just enough to get that smoky char without drying out. Honestly, all of their kebabs and shawarmas are so good and being just a few minutes away from my office, I end up grabbing my lunch with a hot steaming cup of lentil soups from them every day.
Truly Mediterranean is one of those rare places that instantly feels like home. Located right in the heart of the Mission, this little gem serves authentic Mediterranean flavors with a standard of quality that’s hard to find anywhere else in the city. Everything tastes freshly prepared—from the perfectly seasoned shawarma to the silky hummus and warm, fluffy pita. The attention to detail, the clean flavors, and the consistently friendly service make every visit a great experience. You can truly taste the love and tradition in every bite. Whether you’re stopping for a quick lunch or planning dinner with friends, this is one of San Francisco’s must-visit spots for Mediterranean food.
Truly San Francisco Restaurant lives up to its name — it captures the real spirit of the city through its food, ambience, and warm service. The moment you walk in, you feel the cozy, welcoming vibe that makes it perfect for both families and friends. The menu is full of fresh, flavorful options with that classic SF touch. The portions are generous, the ingredients taste fresh, and every dish feels thoughtfully made. The service is great too — friendly staff, quick turnaround, and they check in without being intrusive. The place is clean, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it has that modern-but-comfortable San Francisco look. Whether you’re visiting the city or a local looking for a chill spot with good food, this is definitely worth trying. Highly recommended! 🌉🍽️✨
Great regular falafel wrap. Appreciated nice service and just wrapped in aluminum and paper bag without excess packaging. Had falafels from here years ago, and it was great then, too. Unpretentious place. Looks like what I'd want in a mediterranean restaurant.
Best falafel I've had. My usual order is the vegetable combo and an order of kefta kabob (no picture) . Generous portions so I can usually have two - three meals, if I can control myself. The babba ganoush has that smokey eggplant taste 💗I loved everything. I don't like it when dolmas are oily and mushy, but theirs are not. Everything is fresh! Made my own falafel pita sandwich this time. Usually the pita are cut in pieces, but I got two whole pitas. Look at that beautiful falafel! The staff is always welcome and friendly.
HUGE fan of this place. As someone who has lives in Israel for a while, it's one of few places that feels like it reflects the sort of little shawarma shops that are all over the place there. Their food is excellent - I really like their take on Shawarma, a single Lamb shawarma is super filling and always delicious. The space is a bit crammed, but there is some good seating outdoors. And I like that it's near Roxie theater and other spots on Valencia and Mission. Definitely recommend for this sort of food.
I came here because I really wanted to try a kebab place that looked very good, and honestly, it is very good. I ordered the lamb kebab, and the flavor was excellent. The meat was tasty, well seasoned, and the portion size was surprisingly large. I left feeling very satisfied. The price felt reasonable for the amount of food you get, and overall the kebab was delicious. I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back for the food. The only downside was the kitchen area, which looked quite dirty and not very clean. That part was disappointing. Other than that, the food itself was great and worth trying.
My friends and I decided to get lunch from here. The falafel wraps were absolutely delicious and so filling. Truly one of the best I've eaten in America. They also gave us one falafel and sauce each before the meal (on the house). Only issue is that its a little pricey for some basic drinks. My new favorite lunch spot!!
I’ve been coming to Truly Med since the 90’s and have always loved it. On 3/7 we went there to grab a late night snack. The shawarma meat was so obnoxiously salty that we couldn’t even eat it. Has it gone downhill of late. Or was it a one off? Either way, they need to focus on quality control not to mention the run down vibe of the place.
I've been here 3 times. I would say overall it's okay - about average shawarma. Nothing extraordinary. The girl working Saturday night isn't very friendly though. My second issue is lukewarm shawarma. How's that even possible? You're not supposed to cut it off the spit until you're about to make a sandwich. Lazy cooks. It's disappointing to spend almost $40 for two wraps with 2 drinks and walk away unsatisfied.
yeah really lacking. meat was meh, not really popping flavor and missing a lot of the ingredients it listed for deluxe lamb wrap. or maybe they just sprinkled in a minuscule amount. for 18$ no less
This will be brief. We visit SF multiple times yearly, but this was our first at Truly Mediterranean. The customer service was A+ perfect and the prices very good. The amount they gave us was enough to share one order. Ate on sidewalk chairs, which was a lot cleaner than the rest of the area. We've had bad "Middle Eastern" food, we've had "amazing", I'd rate Truly Mediterranean as "pretty good, would come back if in the area." I wouldn't make a special trip, but we're always in the Mission (Tartine, Dolores) and sometimes you need a change from pastries and burritos.
I’ve eaten here a few times and have not had any issues up until tonight. The flavor is good until I bite into a big chunk of onion and tomato - very unpleasant. I don’t remember chunks of onion and tomatoes for all the times I’ve ordered the chicken shawarma. If the chunks are here to stay I’m not returning any more. The person who prepared it tonight needs training.
Oh no! Heed caution. I ordered delivery from Uber Eats. The food arrived quickly and great driver, so no issue with the delivery. The food on the other hand was just got good. I ordered a ½ pint of hummus, two pieces of pita, the lamb skewer, and the lamb shawarma. The hummus was topped with oil and about a ½” of sumac. The container of hummus wasn’t full. The hummus itself was good, but the overdose of sumac was odd. I’m glad I ordered pita as the hummus didn’t come with pita. Who sells hummus and no pita? At least note it on the menu. The pita I ordered arrived cold and wrapped in foil. The food was hot to the touch and the pita was ice cold and dry. I’ve had Mediterranean food delivered from other places (Oren’s is the bomb!!) and it arrived soft and warm. Other places it’s lightly grilled or tossed in the oven. The lamb skewer and shawarma were different. The skewer came off the skewer. The lamb was chewy but has a good flavor. It had very small pieces of bell pepper and raw onion. Who eats raw onion? Not grilled nor marinated. The shawarma plate had shaved lamb cooked until the moisture was all gone, one raw onion sliced (nope not grilled nor marinated), yellow rice (tasty), hummus, tabouli salad, and lots and lots of sumac. The restaurant must of gotten a pallet of sumac at a killer price. Again no pita with the meal. If you like raw onions, dry lamb, sumac by the spoonful, and cold dry pita bread, then I’d highly recommend Truly Mediterranean.
Ordered various items among them was 2 pieces of pita bread. I was excited to use the pita with the baba ganoush I ordered. They came cold, thrown in this bag with spots of mold on it. If this is what they're sending out that I can see, I am worried about the health and safety of the prepped items I ordered such as the baba ganoush and falafel wrap. Won't order from them again.
Worst experience with Mediterranean food so far in SF and Bay Area. The place is dirty, needs renovation The cucumbers are rotten, have bitter taste. And on top of that- I ordered chicken shawarma and got a falafel which I found out after a few bites. I would be totally fine with any shawarma in any variety of stuffing if it's really tasty. The lamb tower stays RIGHT at the entrance and collecting all the dust and spit from the customers. Guys you should definitely google how modern shawarmas look like in Ukraine and Europe now and understand how outdated standards you have here. Not blaming anyone but it needs to be nicer when you're getting shawarma for 17$ including tax. This was not pleasant experience at all.
