Notably, Chinese restaurants in Las Vegas Springs Mountain area are surprisingly more expensive and smaller servings nowadays.😳

One of the best Cantonese restaurants we’ve had the pleasure of trying! Hot, fresh, and delicious. We got egg drop soup, steamed pork dumplings, roast pork mei fun, and moo goo gai pan - which were all great! Service is wonderful and we had no problem walking in to eat around 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon must visit if you’re in the area!

Probably the best beef chow fun in Chinatown, excellent quality from the noodles to the beef. I grew up eating Cantonese food in Canton and yet, this is top notch. And you can see families and seniors eating here, which already indicates how good this place is

The crab Cantonese is incredible. I only get to NYC once every year or so to get it and then for the rest of the year I dream about having it again. Any of the salt and pepper dishes are amazing as well. I’ve had all of them and all are 5/5. And the broccoli with garlic sauce is the perfect side dish.

This is a must for us every time we’re in NYC. Traditional food, real Chinatown atmosphere. Ask for recommendations. They will steer you the right way. The Chow Fun is a can’t-miss. The prices are fantastic and it’s a lot of delicious food.

Goodness the salt and pepper lobster was sooooo good ❤️❤️❤️ we couldn’t stop savoring every bit of our dish. Also enjoyed the seafood delight basket and the crunchy basket was fantastic! But the lobster 🦞 (swoon…) was sooooo good and that isn’t even the house specialty - we saw plates and plates of 🦀 in a rich sauce fly out of the kitchen and devoured by guests! We made plans to return the next day (Sunday) to try the crab 🦀 but were too late. Definitely are coming back to try the crab - whatever the house specialty was we saw AND salt and pepper crab or lobster. We have found a favorite restaurant for sure. Be advised - like many restaurants in Chinatown, they are cash only. UPDATE: We went back to try the Cantonese style crab and the salt and pepper shrimp. The crab was SO good and the shrimp was jumbo, crispy and delicious. They served with rice and we were stuffed. We will definitely return, this will be a favorite restaurant for us. UPDATE #3: We went back to celebrate a birthday request for Chinese Food. In addition to the Salt and Pepper lobster we decided to try the whole fish (great), steamed dumplings (🥟 I’m not a huge fan of steamed and prefer fried but our guest wanted steamed and enjoyed that they are larger sized) and the bbq pork chops (I didn’t eat but everyone else loved) Really good dinner!

Best Chinese food you'll ever eat. The pork ribs was very delicious and it had good amount of sauce with every bite and every piece. The seafood with noodles was very good too but the fried salted squid 🐙 was my favorite. They offered large rice for all of us. The complementary hot tea was nice. Overall we liked it and will definitely go again.

Hop Kee has been a Chinatown staple for years, known for its solid Cantonese cuisine. The walls are lined with photos of celebrities who have dined here, (like Anthony Bourdain) adding a touch of old school charm. Prices have definitely increased over the years, so expect to pay more than you might have in the past. Note that it’s a CASH ONLY establishment, and an 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill, no matter the size of your party.

Food 8/10 Slightly on the salty side, but everything was thoroughly enjoyable. Every single dish was very largely portioned. The fried rice was a classic, brought me right back to childhood. The salted pork chops were the highlight of my meal though, perfectly tender yet chewy. Simply seasoned with salt and pepper, golden around the edges. Water spinach came in very long strands, but I do typically enjoy it a bit more chopped up. Cooked well though with garlic, and as my favorite vegetable, I ate it right up. Atmosphere 8/10 Large underground space, filled with a mix of tourists and locals. You know it’s a spot that’s been around considering the decor and the booths. Service 8/10 Very solid service, speedy and efficient.

I know this is a mainstay and fan favorite for many years but for our taste it was okay at best. Anthony Bourdain had his reasons and like all reviews, it’s subjective, personal preference. It wasn’t that we had unrealistic expectations but that it was average, typical, American Chinese that could be found anywhere besides NYC Chinatown. Yes, comparably, it is an inexpensive place to eat and the portions are huge. If you are out late and looking for something to eat besides pizza before continuing the night, this would be your place.

We did not finish our food and asked Chen to place our left over to take home boxes, when we got home our pork dish is missing. The pork dish is the one we barely touched and we’re looking forward to eat it at home but they forgot to give it to us. Lesson learned: since hop kee takes the left over dishes to pack it in their kitchen, remember to check everything after they hand it to you. It would have been better if they just gave me the containers and made me pack it myself. How I wish I brought ziplocks instead.
