Escultura emblemática de la zona.

Esta escultura, está situada sobre un pequeño montículo. Es obra del artista valenciano Manuel Valdés, galardonado con el Premio Nacional de Bellas Artes en 1985 y Medalla de Oro al Mérito de las Bellas Artes en 1998. La estatua mide 7 m, pesa 12.500 kg, está hecha de bronce, se titula Reina Mariana y es una recreación de la Infanta Margarita que aparece en el famoso cuadro de Velázquez, Las meninas. Fue encargada por el ayuntamiento siendo alcalde el socialista José Caballero, ascendiendo su coste a 640.000€, y se inauguró en septiembre del 2000.

Pero...de que estamos hablando? De una escultura o de la dichosa rotonda? Estamos hablando de la escultura NO de la rotonda. La dichosa rotonda lleva muchos años ahí y no es lo mejor que hicieron,estamos de acuerdo, pero esto va de una escultura que se ha sacado del cuadro de un genio como fue Velázquez. O Velázquez tiene la culpa de la rotonda? Seamos sensatos por favor, hablemos de la Menina de Velázquez,no de una maldita rotonda que lleva años ahí. Pasé cuarenta años de mi vida viviendo en Alcobendas y he visto Alcobendas crecer y ser lo que es hoy. Gracias

An object of Brussels culture and believed to date back to 1421! He has had an interesting past and has his own wardrobe of outfits, seen here as St Nicholas. Worth a visit but very busy as very popular.

The statue itself is quite small and, apart from its fame, may not be particularly captivating. However, the surrounding streets and area are delightful, featuring charming sweet and waffle shops. If you happen to visit at the right moment, you might even observe a local group dressing the statue.

One of the interesting location of the Brussels, just minutes walking from a Grand Palace. We were there at around 2pm and it was crowded, however still possible to take descent pictures. Lot of stores and restaurants around, so it is not a problem to find a restroom if need it. Otherwise you can not spent so much time by the statues as it is quite small. The funny thing though that they dress the boy in different clothes from time to time and there is a store across of the street that shows some of the costume they use during the year :-)

We are very happy and excited to see two different ware of the posing boy in Brussels. Yesterday he was dressed and today is in his birthday suit! People are just coming all corners of the world to see him and it is interesting to see him in different outfit for time to time! And to see all the products related to this stature!

Rotonda mítica de la ciudad de Alcobendas. Una foto en esta ubicación es casi obligada

Debe ser la escultura más popular y conocida de Alcobendas, aunque personalmente no me resulta especialmente atractiva, debido a su forma y a sus dimensiones colosales. Su autor es Manolo Valdes. Por otro lado, la persona representada es Mariana de Austria, que llegó a ser reina consorte de España, como segunda esposa de Felipe IV. Por último, y en alusión al personaje representado, comentar que en el pueblo de Navalcarnero hay varias esculturas de personajes históricos, entre ellas una escultura de Mariana de Austria y del rey Felipe IV, ya que en ese pueblo se celebró la Boda Real de ambos.

La escultura es del artista valenciano Manuel Valdés mide 7 metros y está echa de bronce, es una recreación de la infanta Margarita que aparece en el famoso cuadro "Las Meninas" de Velázquez , por su altura llama mucho su atención

En el interior de una rotonda. Aunque no se puede acceder dentro ya desde las aceras de alrededor parece impresionante. Bien iluminada.

En sí misma la figura artistica de "La Menina" no me gusta especialmente, pero he de reconocer que convierte esta pseudo rotonda de Alcobendas en un icono gracias a la estatua gigante con su forma.

Interesting sense of humor there is in this statue. It represents a small child. Often based on the occasions, the statue is dressed. The place is very crowded and every tourist coming here takes a photo of themselves with the statue. :D

Manneken Pis is a small but iconic landmark in Brussels. Despite its size, it’s surprisingly charming and has a lot of character. It’s a fun and quirky spot to see, and definitely worth a quick visit while exploring the city.

Iconic and fun to see once, but it’s very small and usually crowded. People queue up for photos, so patience is needed. Nice to tick off the list, but don’t expect too much.

It is undoubtebly a statue that you want to see when in Brussels because it's gotten so popular for some reason. I really like the idea of this little boy being a national symbol and getting dressed up in different outfits depending on current events. It somehow manages to be both impressive and underwhelming at the same time.

I would’ve loved to know a little more about the history of this boy! But unfortunately not much is known, even the theories are a far few… nevertheless a spot for every tourist visiting for pictures. I do see a lot of guides explaining about the statue and was curious to find out more… it’s close to the grand place and can definitely be included in the city walk.

La primera vez que me metieron por aquí dando clase de coche casi me da algo. Era la rotonda interminable y casi me voy a la autovía en la primera clase. Es un poco rara y hay que estar atento a las salidas. Se acumula mucho tráfico. Ya sabes, por la derecha bro.

A tad bit underwhelming, but it was a nice monument to visit. It was crowded there especially seeing that the statue is pretty small, but i loved how they dressed it up. And the streets around it are nice and full of nice shops

Manneken Pis is the famous statue in Brussels, depicting a young boy urinating. The statue in place right now was put there in 1965 and is surrounded by cameras and fencing due to previous theft and vandalism. I was surprised by the size of the statue when actually seeing it in person — it was tiny and a little underwhelming, and it would be so easy to just walk past it if it wasn’t for the crowds of people standing around. The statue is pretty humorous though, and is only a short walk away from Grand Place, so it’s worth checking out while in Brussels for sure, especially if you can catch it in one of the fun costumes. Unfortunately, during my trip, it was without this.

Overrated, which led to me being extremely underwhelmed when I reached this famous “attraction”. Very crowded with toursits. At least it was very close to the main square so I wasn’t bummed about it that much because I immediately went back. I am not even sure how this statue came about and why its so popular amongst tourists. In reality it was much much smaller than I imagined it would be 🧍‍♂️

Porque hacen rotondas con forma de calabaza con carriles laterales, lineas continuas, ....un engendro de rotonda.

lo peor que se puede hacer en una entrada y salida del pueblo es poner algo tan inmeso estropeado visibilidad y fluidez al trafico

Increíble como se aprovecha el ayto del desconocimiento que tienen los conductores de ese tipo de rotondas. En lugar de utilizar un par de policías municipales para encauzar correctamente el tráfico en esa rotonda, los tienes esperando con boli y papel apuntando matrículas de cada coche, que intenta salir de esa trampa, para luego denunciar. Tooodo un negocio… y un fraude al ciudadano.

Me parece un fraude, el ayuntamiento de Alcobendas se gasta miles de millones en esa escultura de prestigio. Y el primer año le salió óxido y en lugar de llamar al escultor para su restauración o garantía. La empresa Seromal la pintó de negro, se desconoce si fue pintura especial o alquitrán, pero Saromal consiguió su objetivo, cubrir los fallos de miles de millones. Mis méritos personales para la empresa Seromal.👍👍
